Jay's passing is still sore, I find myself thinking about him if I'm driving in the rain. He has brought to light that I've not really been living for a while; my hobbies were consumed by work, so I'm making an effort to get those back or at least find new ones.

One of which is enjoying a certain fantasy deer characters again, at least low key now that I've brought my old pc back from the dead. Maybe Dag will see you in forest sometime?

He'll be 11 years old on the 21st March (:

    Identity }
Dag's full name is pronounced 'I-or-dag-nyre', and was given the title 'The Fortress' in recognition of the guardianship he gives to and inspires in others. He is a symbol of unyielding strength of will and exhibits an impenetrable, one-pointed focus to rise above any situation. The emblem of victory - the Peregrine Falcon - still remains with him from his first and very old title of 'Wings of Peregrine'.

    The Fortress }
Voice - Deep bass; an equal balance of gentility and authoritative power associated with a voice of moral substance and leadership. Feral vocalizations are rare from him, though he is known to produce brontidal rumbles and has an extraordinarily low, growling bellow.
Scent - His scent is very gustatory - likened to the smoulder of a warm, damp bonfire in the middle of open fields; burnt soil of old forests long gone.
Build - Based on an old-world ice giant Eucladoceros species; the first species of deer genus to have highly evolved antlers yet is a primitive mass of strong bone and muscle. His body type is a visually solid domination with a dense muscular structure most noticeable around his barrel-chest and shoulders, reinforcing the relatively short, strong neck that bares the weight of a heavy square skull - resembling more bull than deer - and its gargantuan artillery; both of which being the most prominent indication of his skeletal bulk. Being top-heavy, his posture is almost restricted to one position when still. A long body means legs are stationed far apart to accommodate and spread the weight, and his head is always held high in balance giving him a kingly air, which is also reflected in his fluid and powerful gait. At full speed, there is very little that can stop his bulldozer momentum.
Antlers - Fortress by design. Supernumerary, elongated branched-antlers where the beam has grown outward behind him, tines growing upward; his outer primary tines are the largest and grow into long forward-facing pincers. There are 12 tines per pedical and are split into four sets, all of which together are specifically designed to interlock with any antler type. Central clusters suited to single beam pronged deer, outer and brow tines designed for the larger supernumerary or palmated antlers such as Irish Elk. They are incredibly thick, astonishingly heavy, and an impenetrable defense that cannot be breached.
Visual - His coat is made up of dense, varying shades of grey that give him an overall arsenic colouration, but his mane and face are the most striking; dirty white for the most part with a carnelian-red pattern draped around the contours of his beady-eyed, frill-cheeked face. The white of his mane continues only half-way under his stomach, and ends in a point with a very thin separating line of charcoal.
There is also an enormous patch-scar that tears through the left side of his neck which is coupled with the nick in his ear on the same side. This was given to him by the Spring Wolf in 2010*.
Conqueror - Being the placid giant he is, Dag never lowers his antlers without reason; rarely has his combat been seen within the peaceful confines of the forest. However, heed the warning of his scar. Events leading up to his present existence shed further light on this war-hardened battler. There is something prehistoric and almost predatory about his combat - the misfortune of colliding with such a monolith is simply an all-sensory deluge.

    Antediluvian }
Iaurdagnire's story has become that of Endless Forest legend, starting in 2009 and ending in 2013. His story involves the Forest, the Gods, and the spiritual embodiment of the Seasons whom he served with perpetual lives as a God-given duty. Dag wanted to escape, and continually fought for a life and death that was his to dictate; to cease to be a higher power's fuel for intellectual evolution. But in learning about his place in the world and a way to put an end to his duties, he became even more lost. Ultimately, Dag's story is an exploration of purpose and morality in all forms, and almost entirely community driven. The community has been involved in each section in some way, and these are referred to as "Season Events" by those who have participated; the events were designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of the story.

    Core }
Ravenflight - The Queen His love and greatest treasure; indescribably bound to her like no other. Their history had long ran parallel, and although their paths crossed only rarely in bygone years, they were connected by a deep empathy for their respective trials and desire for freedom. Behind closed doors they each played a part in helping each other fulfill a purpose in order to escape, and then found themselves lost without it. When Dag returned to the forest, Ravenflight tried to help him re-adjust through her understanding of what it is like to feel truly detached from the world around you. As they spent more time together, Dag increasingly began to dote on her and fell very deeply in love. Captivated by her in every way. Ravenflight has given him a new purpose, and Dag is utterly devoted to her continued happiness. Adores and is enchanted by everything she is.
Cry - The Ace Guardian; a source of security; life indebted to. Dag has known Cry for a long time, and upon his return was healed by him (see 'War Drum' Act V). Displays an affectionate "big brother" attitude towards the small white stag when around him.
Ephiré - The Jack An unspoken natural affinity; indebted to. The two giants have much in common with the way they cope with the world around them, and it is this understanding that lead Ephiré to become the catalyst in Dag's journey (see 'Catalyst' story arc Act I-III). Has a profound trust in him and admires him greatly. He is also the only deer within the forest to have witnessed the full brunt of Dag's combat.
Virgil/The Red - Part of the Fortress' strong foundations. One of his oldest friends of a different world to his own, wild and unrestricted. At the time of his trials, Dag thought of Virgil's existence as "real", moreso than his own and one he wanted to achieve. Events between then and now strongly effected Dag, but their friendship remains strong and has been rebuilt. [to be re-written]

  • Bonus Material

Autumn '09 Act III: I'd choose right now, was the first song 'read along' blog to appear on TEFC (to my knowledge!).
War Drum '12 Act V: Your Supremacy was my most successful community-wide event, where 68 TEF players participated.

Antediluvian - There are two reasons why I chose to use this word for Dag and his story. The first is that it was originally a biblical word meaning the time between the creation of earth and the great flood/deluge myth; a narrative in which a great flood is sent by a deity to destroy in an act of divine retribution (the Spring Wolf). A parallel of this is a metaphor of rebirth, which was the premise of Dag's rebellion against his original purpose. Secondly, the modern meaning for this word is simply to be old fashioned/ancient in the most possible way (as if they lived before the great flood).

Playing card references - A great metaphor for life in general, where one must simply play the hand they are dealt, good or bad. One of my favourite card games is Whist, where the object of the game is to simply score the most "tricks" by having the highest card in the suit that is being played. Therefore the cards you would like to see in your hand are the highest: Ace, King, Queen and Jack. The Jack is a good card to have, because it will generally weed out the other players higher cards in their desire to win the hand, so it is more common for you to lose that round but win others as you have exhausted the other players good cards. The Jack was the role of Ephiré, in Jack to the King. He killed Dag - referenced as the King - and although the hand appeared to be lost, the game was not over. The card that trumped Velocity's hand was the Ace, Cry, in Your Supremacy.

As a character, Dag was originally inspired by naturally powerful characters like Mufasa from The Lion King and Riki from Ginga Nagareboshi Gin - characters the hero-type protagonists typically look up to for guidance and leadership.

"Congratulations, Dinamo." A

"Congratulations, Dinamo."
A soft deep voice trundled under the wind. His stride was silent in the birch, the long grass minimizing any sound - it was easy to move in the grass unnoticed... well, except for Dag. If it wasn't his size, it would have been his colours that always gave him away.

He hadn't actually been told about her pregnancy, but could tell from her scent. Changes in the smell of others was not an instinctual knowledge, but something he had come to learn.
"You don't look very well. Shall I take you to the pond? Can't have you getting dehydrated in this heat."

Dinamo jolted as she heard a voice call out. She would have dismissed it, but the voice said her name as well. She slowly pulled her hear to the sound, her head following like it was being pulled. She watched as Dag, good 'ol Daggie, came clombering towards her.

She shifted her weight helplessly as Dag offered to go to the pond with her, but she was so embarrassed about how slow she had become, she had gotten to be very still. Her head seemed to twirl dangerously as she swallowed, her throat feeling kind of dry, in all truth. She looked at Dag as if he knew that she was getting parched. How did he know that she was pregnant as well?, she finally questioned herself.

As she felt the wind twirl with her coat again, she shifted her glazy eyes to look Dag in the eye, and she shuddered. The thought of so much walking made her blood boil, not because she was slow, but because she was slow due to her sickness. Strange, but yes. It was the first time she had been sick, and it was just horrible - She absolutely hated it. "T-tthank you D-D-Ddag. I would g-go to the p-ppond,, but.. I-I.. Im so slow, it really wouldnt be w-ww-worth the while, D-Dag. Im just s-ssso sick, you see-eee.."

She nodded somberly and coughed after she finished talking, she hated the way she studdered, it only reminded her that she was so sick. She scrunched her eyes closed as the World tilted on an angle again, taking in many shaky breaths.

"Oh, come now. You can't just sit here all day in the driest part of the forest."
Dag came into his own when caring for the sick or injured. His sympathy is never apparent at first; he doesn't give any gentle cooing, any 'there there, it's alright's. If something is wrong, Dag would rather do something about it and try to fix it - like any fatherly creature would.
"You're coming to the pond with me whether you like it or not! Water will settle you, I promise. Now,"
He paused and stood beside where he back was facing. Slowly, he bent down on one knee and then the other,
"Let me help you up on your hooves. If you feel dizzy, you can lean against me for the way there."

Dinamo swallowed, feeling as

Dinamo swallowed, feeling as if a rock was lodged dramticly in her gullet. She was brought aback at Dag's command, making her think of er life before the Forest. Her parents ordering her to do the daily tasks, droning on how she didn't do it correctly..

She shuddered and blinked, focusing lazily on Dag. He was leaning down to her. What was he doing, what did he say? She fuzzily remembered, get up. So, she felt her body beginning to shiver and twitch as her legs uncurled from beneath her, her joints giving unruly pops and defiant cracks.

She grunted as her legs begun to righten and she wavered, forcing back an urge to sit again. Instinctively, she clung to the side of Dag, blinking away the head spin. She smiled and snorted half-heartedly as she looked up to Dag: "Th-tthank you for the mo-moo-motivation. I need it, D-Dag."
Iaurdagnire's picture

Azura - Tch? Don't worry

Azura - Tch? Don't worry about his update; when I haven't played for a few days I typically find it hard to interact with people again.

Dina -
"Ha, well don't thank me just yet."
He started to move forward in a crouched walk so she could feel the benefit of leaning against his wall of a body. It took a little while for their momentum to build, but eventually they were on their way. Little by little they came to the border where the dry earth gave way to the lush saturated pastures of the first forest. Ahead, Dag could see the sunlight hitting the idol through the haze.
"Let's aim for the stream, hm? That way you can stand in it and refresh yourself. The water will be cleaner from the source, too."

She snorted as they hobbled

She snorted as they hobbled along towards the stream. She was going just a bit faster than normal, maybe that ment she was getting better? Dont get your hopes up, yes honey."I-Ii'm sorry if Im so s-sslow,, Dag. I cant h-hhe-help it, hn-hnnhnn."

She looked up from staring at the ground infront of her, trying to concentrate on putting one foot infront of the other, and she saw the pond within view. Goodness, that was fast!, she thought. Am I getting better?

She looked up to Dag and smiled to him thankfully, he really was just a good soul. "R-rreally, Dag. Thank y-you. It means a-aalot."

Dag smiled and craned his neck to lick above her brow where a few hairs had gone awry.
"You're welcome. Almost there, now."
He slowed their pace some-what as the gushing of the Idol grew. Dag stopped when they could see the surface of the water - it looked very inviting to him, and he hoped that it would put a fresh spring in Dina's step.
"Hm, the banks are a bit steep."
It was typical of him to forget little - but important - details when trying to do a good thing. Her legs were hardly sturdy, and he thought that she might not be able to reach the water after all.
"I don't want you to slip and hurt yourself... Ah, I know - it's easier to walk in from the base of the Idol, it's a more gentle slope there."
He looked concerned,
"Will you be able to manage? We can go to the shore if you would prefer..."

Dinamo smiled despite

Dinamo smiled despite herself, Dag was being so nice to her. Like he never wasnt nice, but it was a good change.

With a feeble smile she nodded and gluped, looking down the rather long slope leading to the water. "Y-yes. I can manage, th-thh-thank you, Dag. It means alot, and I know t-tth-the fawn will take a-a liking to y-you, yes-ss."

With that, she turned her head to face the stream and she begun her way down the slope, her legs creaking and popping with each step. She faltered once but managed to regain herself, trying desperately to not fall. She smiled broadly as she felt the cool water brush around her front ankles, so she surged into the water carelessly, nearly being taken away by the force of the rushing water.

With a gasp, she dug her tiny hooves into the sides of the stream and she sighed, relieved. She wasnt going to just wash away down the stream, even though she was sick, she would still give a good fight. "D-Ddag. The water is f-ffine! Come on in, p-p-pplease."

A long muzzle lifted in the

A long muzzle lifted in the air, a wet nose quivering as the doe took in the scents nearby, ear erect and eyes alert searching for her prey. Snuffing and shaking her head, long legs started off through the tall grasses of the Birch Tree Forest, the golden strands brushing against the soft thick warm fur along her sides.

It had been a brief introduction but one that had started a long friendship she was sure. Sniffing again her pace increased, the familiar scent growing stronger. Bright eyes looked out from under the shadow of her mask, staring at the figures in the distance and picking each out by name in her head, shaking it afterwards as they were not what she wanted. Till she saw one..

There you are..

Long legs moved closer to the ground, black hairs along her crown and neck flattening as she stalked closer, hearing the sounds of her prey as he stood there, distracted enough either in deep thought or by the deer on the horizon. Slinking forward quietly, long red banner dragging behind her the doe hardly took time to give him a response, dashing forward out of the long grass and rearing in a jump over the great beast.

Front legs landed, though not quite in the spot the red doe had hoped. Curved over the back of the buck she was forced to nearly stand on her back legs, going with the miscalculated jump and rubbing her head over his shoulders, eager like a newborn fawn and marking him with her softer spicy scent.

"Hmm-Mm!"

She hummed to him, letting go of him and standing on all fours next to the larger buck. Shoving her muzzle to his side neck she took advantage of her position, pressing her soft lips to the silky scarred skin on his crest in a gentle chaste kiss.

Pfft ♥ I'm just dandy dear. What about you?

Dinamo -
Dag smiled reassuringly as she scaled the slope, doubting in his mind that he would meet the fawn. It was always the way; he just never seemed to be around when new fawns were born. Rarely did he see them when they grew older.
!
His ears snapped back in a cringe when she stumbled, but everything about him relaxed when she was safely in the water.

He nodded at her invite, taking just one large step down to reach the soft sand at the bottom of the stream; an advantage of being so tall.
"Ah, this is lovely." He sighed, contented. But before taking a drink, he took a few steps back so as not to take the pregnant doe out with his antlers.

silent -
He was relaxed - at peace, even - and dozing in the little snippet of time where there was no-one around to entertain or keep company. Ah, beautiful.
"Hng!"
Although the weight was small, it was the shock of her sudden collision that forced out a surprised, backward-sounding snort from the now wide awake bull. His ears bumbled about, confused trying to see what was behind him. Minimal head movement allowed a strained glance behind which revealed her identity, and he sat there motionless while Jettem writhed around before eventually falling to his side.
"A-Ah, Jettem, how are-"
Her nose felt cold against his sensitive exposed skin, and he swallowed hard wondering why every inch of him seemed to tense; hair prickling. No-one paid much attention to his scar - not even him - so to have someone touch it so freely was a new experience.
"... Y-You. That is, how are you?"
He cleared his throat trying to look not quite so much like a rabbit staring into the eyes of a hawk.
"Well... actually, I saw you yesterday, so that's probably a silly question."
He chuckled, smiling sheepishly.

Her maw turned into a smile,

Her maw turned into a smile, small velvet covered lips pressing against the spider web of new silky skin, shaking her head slightly and relaxing her ears back against her head. Snuffing again softly she stepped lightly, pressing her head against the thick coat of heavily scented long fur of his shoulder.

"A lot can happen in a few hours though. In this place..anything can happen overnight."

Back legs moved, rotating her body away yet leaving her front legs near his. There wasn't much personal space left for the large buck, her head pulled back to look up at him with bright eyes. Lifting her chin slightly a soft hum came out, easing the look in his eyes as they watched the other. He looked at her as if she had grown another head! More gentle now with the stag she stepped forward, pressing her nose lightly and briefly to the cream chin decorated with red.

"Not a silly question, I was about to ask you the same. And now I will. How are you Iaurdagnire?"

Her voice was soft, muffled slightly as her lips ran up to his broad strong muzzle, giving a small affectionate lick.

She giggled as Dag took one measly step into the water, wtaching him with her icy blue eyes as he took a drink. She did the same and finished with a satisfied smack of the lips. With a grunt, she felt the soft mud and sand below her hooves begin to tear away from the actual bank.

She resitaued and smiled up at Dag, tight-lipped as if to tell him she was fine. With another strained grunt, she forced her tiny body upstream slightly, so she could stick her feet back into the mud that was steady once more.

With the water running through her fur, she felt much better, although she was still far from her normal okay. With a lucid chuckle: "Ahh, yes. This feels nice.. Nice idea you had, Daggie. Hnhnn."

She was right; indeed a lot could happen in a few hours in this place. A deer could step away from the forest for just a day and feel they've been lost for months. You could also meet a deer for the first time, and find yourself in throngs of intimacy the next day.
Seems a fair balance... A flicker of a smile gave a glimpse of his inner-humour as he nodded, agreeing with her. Only at the end of his nod did he look down to address her, but perhaps it was a mistake as the doe pulled back her head to catch his eyes. A magpie's laughter rang only in his head as he was stunned still for a moment; his own joke worked, and he relaxed into the determination of holding her gaze so as not to seem flustered.

A brow raised as she shifted, wondering what she would do next. How awful of her! Dag was not shy to such close interaction, and secretly felt very accomplished with how many doe-friends he had acquired and could play such games with. But that's just it, they were games always accompanied with laughs and roleplay pretense. Jettem, however-
"Hna, a- I'm good."
Came a quick response with her touch to his chin. Dag reacted by tipping his head slightly, but then letting it fall lower so she could reach.
"Great, even."
His exhale was audible, getting rid of a confused breath. The lick that followed didn't come as much of a surprise to him, because by that time Dag had come up with his own game that clicked everything in place. The muscles in his body unwound, and frightened ears clambered their way forward.

"My supposedly non-silly question has gone unanswered, hm-hm." He said slowly, calmly. He took a step back so his head hovered directly above hers, not looking her in the face anymore,
"I can assume you are well?" He made sure he spoke close behind her ears; Dag had no illusions about the depth of his voice and the way it could rumble through another smooth as silk.

With a hidden cheeky gleam in his eyes, he ran his large muzzle down the back of her neck as if searching, deliberately allowing for the accidental brush of hair before returning her lick with his own across one of her shoulder-blades. He was gentle - always - but huge square jaws tend to shelter one huge tongue, and even relatively dry he seemed to have bathed her.

Left nostril wrinkled in disappointment.

A bright hues ear twitched

A bright hues ear twitched slightly at the side of her head, inhaling the soft woodsy scent of the buck, lifting her nose upwards into the thick blue grey fur at his neck. With her head below his the red doe remained still and content for now, the low rumbling of the deep soothing voice seeming to roll down her neck and spine. It felt warm and safe here next to him. No, not safe so much. It was more she didn’t need to feel safe, because his presence seemed to be the Forest itself, loving and wise and without grudges or harbored shadows.
She couldn’t seem to find the right thoughts in how the blue stag made her feel, for it was just that, a very real feeling of weight roaming down the back of her neck that made her tuck her head down and look over to what he was doing. Curious her long fluffy ears flew forward, blinking with wide eyes and watching him closely. It seemed she had found a formidable foe in the battle of affection…
What few longer hairs along her neck and back rose slightly, muscles tensing for a moment at the sudden sway of his tongue, the single bathing muscle alone having enough strength to have Jettem lean slightly. Humming began again, a soft chuckle slipping through before turning her head forward again and rubbing her cheek against his neck and front chest.

”Hnn..You’ve assumed correctly Sir. My nights have been especially peaceful lately and uneventful. What of you? You say you are great even. Do you care if I seek the source of your enjoyment today?”

Once wearing a mask of raven feathers Jettem now wore a mask of Dag fur, pushing her way further at his chest, as close to his heart that she could get. Jerking her head up through the forest of fur she butted her head at his shoulder, stepping closer and breaking her own rule to not move a single hair forward.

As if a mirror had been placed at his face her muzzle turned upward into a smirk, mirroring nearly before swaying her backside suddenly. Slender pillar like legs moved quietly and swiftly, planting herself under his neck and offering her back silently for support for him to rest his heavy weighed down crown of antlers. She knew many of the stags had larger antlers, and often very heavy. Strained neck muscles would not be very helpful should a fight ever arise. Snuffing she stood tall, head held up straight and level with the ground, watching quietly and listening to the distant sound of running deer nearby.

Dina - Dag's chest hair

Dina -
Dag's chest hair bounced up and down as he siphoned up huge gulps of the stream. When he lifted his head, water trickled loudly from the hair under his chin.
"Hm." Finding it a nuisance, he shook his head violently to dislodge the water. His antlers wooshed and stirred up the air.

Returning his attention to Dina, he cocked his head and corner-smiled,
"Of course - all my ideas are simply brilliant." He ended his pose with a chuckle,
"Hm-hm, you're feeling better then. Good."
As he turned to steady himself, he accidentally stomped his hoof hard into the water. With a great ka-bloop, Dag sent a splash in Dina's direction that hit just below her shoulders.

silent -
Dag liked the way she seemed to rub against him, as if he were a tree of some description. Smaller deer could lean and burrow into him all they'd like - he'd never push them away.
"The source of my enjoyment..."
Why do that? He trailed off from his need to repeat her words, as if they'd trigger some rhyme or reason for his chosen answer. He looked around... feeling absolutely nothing at all. No memories were triggered by the weather, sounds, no visual reasons to make him smile.
"Company." The blue bull said finally, looking down to take up her offer for a resting place for his chin. But he didn't rest on her, simply hovered.
"In the present moment there is nothing weighing on my mind, no thoughts I need to dwell on. Nothing of a worry... I feel great, in that I am content with myself and with you. Things are very simple these days," Dag tittered happily,
"I am more glad for that than most would be. A simple forest makes for a simple stag; it bodes well for me to keep my hooves out of anything sticky. I feel as if you are also one for simplicity?"
Thinking nothing of it, Dag began to groom her back. Gentler than his earlier attempt, and there appeared to be no game in his actions this time - more social bonding, if anything. Fact of the matter is that he wanted to. An odd attraction to her vibrant scarlet.

How odd that it was the

How odd that it was the simple things in the forest that brought a greater pleasure to some, others wishing for more action and drama when there was really no need for it here. It was peaceful once again, the snow was gone from the shadows of the trees, fine fresh grass having sprouted and bursting with the many wild poppies and dandelions. Stamping a front hoof into the carpet of green she lowered her head for a small morsel, wet nose brushing over before soft lips tore through a small clump.

"I find simple things to be less than simple. There is always a story behind each tree, each stone and ripple of water. It's why it attracts me, what gives my thoughts a running start before the Forest spins another tale for me. I wonder what your story tells of Sir..."

Gentle sways had begun once more, blue eyes rising and looking over her shoulder to watch the tongue's owner. Chewing the last little bit she gave a small yawn, shaking her head and stamping a back hoof this time.

"Content...I suppose I am content as well. It looks like company plays a large part of it. Hnn..Indeed. A sunrise or fresh morning snow is much more enjoyable when shared with another. "

Leaning slightly into him the red doe gave a light noise, quickly turning her head to tuck it under his neck once more and smell the woodsy scent of the forest on him. He seemed so very real, yet it was as if he was a figure from a fawn's nighttime storytelling. Was it possible that maybe one day she too would be told in the tales of the Forest?

She nodded in agreement,

She nodded in agreement, chuckling shortly. Her chuckle was cut short by a spray of water that was sent in her direction by yours truely. She sputtered as some of it flew up onto her face and neck as well. With a wide-eyes cough, she looked up at Dag. "NGH!"

Then, she seemed to teeter over to her left, so she landed sideways in the water. There was a loud sucking noise as the mud seemed to swallow her, but she ignored it and stared up at Dag, satisfied as he was wet from the chest down.

She nodded approvingly before wriggling out of the suffocating mud, it giving a few resistant sucking noises before she got free. Looking down, she watched her somewhat fat looking imprint fill in with water. "I got that fat already!?! Expect how big I will be when the fawn is near due!", she said with a dissapproving look to her lower belly.

silent - There was a moments

silent -
There was a moments pause in his activity when something she said caught his interest. He smiled to himself before continuing, allowing Jettem to move about as much as she wished.
A creak could be heard as the heavy bull shifted his back weight onto one hoof, letting the other curl under slightly and rest on its tip.
"You are right."
Dag's tongue retreated back on its path to straighten out the places he'd disheveled.
"But when I look at things, I see reason. That may be complicated for others to think about, but for me it is that kind of simplicity I can hold onto... Must hold on to."
He stops.
"Hm-hm, I'm not the most emotive stag because of that."
Showing an acceptance of this fact, Dag allowed himself to move his chin across the other side of her shoulder to pull her a little closer to him in an embrace. He enjoyed being close to others; it was probably the one time he could show any signs of intimacy without needing to speak.

Dina -
Dag's sheepish grin sank when he watched her fall, not wanting that to happen in the slightest. But her approving nod and her following exclamation on her imprint stunned Dag to silence for a moment before he burst into laughter,
"Oh, Dina," he paused for breath, "if it were any other pregnant doe, I'd have my coconuts in a sling by now. I've steered clear of many so as not to be on the receiving end of the trouble I hear they cause, but you've proved my fear wrong."
He calmed down and sighed, looking down on where Dina had splashed him in return.
"The Father is very lucky to have such well-tempered doe with a sense of humour. You're going to be a wonderful Mother."

I'm testing its durability right now after the clean. So far it's been on for 20 minutes and I've had no screen pixellation. That's worth knowing actually - if ever you're browsing and you get random blue/green/red pixels on your screen, something somewhere in your computer is having heatstroke 8|
