Dag's full name is pronounced '
I-or-dag-nyre', and was given the title
'The Fortress' in recognition of the guardianship he gives to and inspires in others. He is a symbol of unyielding strength of will and exhibits an impenetrable, one-pointed focus to rise above any situation. The emblem of victory - the Peregrine Falcon - still remains with him from his first and very old title of 'Wings of Peregrine'.
The Fortress }
Voice - Deep bass; an equal balance of gentility and authoritative power associated with a voice of moral substance and leadership. Feral vocalizations are rare from him, though he is known to produce brontidal rumbles and has an extraordinarily low, growling bellow.
Scent - His scent is very gustatory - likened to the smoulder of a warm, damp bonfire in the middle of open fields; burnt soil of old forests long gone.
Build - Based on an old-world ice giant
Eucladoceros species; the first species of deer genus to have highly evolved antlers yet is a primitive mass of strong bone and muscle. His body type is a visually solid domination with a dense muscular structure most noticeable around his barrel-chest and shoulders, reinforcing the relatively short, strong neck that bares the weight of a heavy square skull - resembling more bull than deer - and its gargantuan artillery; both of which being the most prominent indication of his skeletal bulk. Being top-heavy, his posture is almost restricted to one position when still. A long body means legs are stationed far apart to accommodate and spread the weight, and his head is always held high in balance giving him a kingly air, which is also reflected in his fluid and powerful gait. At full speed, there is very little that can stop his bulldozer momentum.
Antlers - Fortress by design. Supernumerary, elongated branched-antlers where the beam has grown outward behind him, tines growing upward; his outer primary tines are the largest and grow into long forward-facing pincers. There are 12 tines per pedical and are split into four sets, all of which together are specifically designed to interlock with any antler type. Central clusters suited to single beam pronged deer, outer and brow tines designed for the larger supernumerary or palmated antlers such as Irish Elk. They are incredibly thick, astonishingly heavy, and an impenetrable defense that cannot be breached.
Visual - His coat is made up of dense, varying shades of grey that give him an overall arsenic colouration, but his mane and face are the most striking; dirty white for the most part with a carnelian-red pattern draped around the contours of his beady-eyed, frill-cheeked face. The white of his mane continues only half-way under his stomach, and ends in a point with a very thin separating line of charcoal.
There is also an enormous patch-scar that tears through the left side of his neck which is coupled with the nick in his ear on the same side. This was given to him by the Spring Wolf in 2010*.
Conqueror - Being the placid giant he is, Dag never lowers his antlers without reason; rarely has his combat been seen within the peaceful confines of the forest. However, heed the warning of his scar. Events leading up to his present existence shed further light on this war-hardened battler. There is something prehistoric and almost predatory about his combat - the misfortune of colliding with such a monolith is simply an all-sensory deluge.

Iaurdagnire's story has become that of Endless Forest legend, starting in 2009 and ending in 2013. His story involves the Forest, the Gods, and the spiritual embodiment of the Seasons whom he served with perpetual lives as a God-given duty. Dag wanted to escape, and continually fought for a life and death that was his to dictate; to cease to be a higher power's fuel for intellectual evolution. But in learning about his place in the world and a way to put an end to his duties, he became even more lost. Ultimately, Dag's story is an exploration of purpose and morality in all forms, and almost entirely community driven. The community has been involved in each section in some way, and these are referred to as "Season Events" by those who have participated; the events were designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of the story.

Ravenflight - The Queen His love and greatest treasure; indescribably bound to her like no other. Their history had long ran parallel, and although their paths crossed only rarely in bygone years, they were connected by a deep empathy for their respective trials and desire for freedom. Behind closed doors they each played a part in helping each other fulfill a purpose in order to escape, and then found themselves lost without it. When Dag returned to the forest, Ravenflight tried to help him re-adjust through her understanding of what it is like to feel truly detached from the world around you. As they spent more time together, Dag increasingly began to dote on her and fell very deeply in love. Captivated by her in every way. Ravenflight has given him a new purpose, and Dag is utterly devoted to her continued happiness. Adores and is enchanted by everything she is.
Cry - The Ace Guardian; a source of security; life indebted to. Dag has known Cry for a long time, and upon his return was healed by him (
see 'War Drum' Act V). Displays an affectionate "big brother" attitude towards the small white stag when around him.
Ephiré - The Jack An unspoken natural affinity; indebted to. The two giants have much in common with the way they cope with the world around them, and it is this understanding that lead Ephiré to become the catalyst in Dag's journey (
see 'Catalyst' story arc Act I-III). Has a profound trust in him and admires him greatly. He is also the only deer within the forest to have witnessed the full brunt of Dag's combat.
Virgil/The Red - Part of the Fortress' strong foundations. One of his oldest friends of a different world to his own, wild and unrestricted. At the time of his trials, Dag thought of Virgil's existence as "real", moreso than his own and one he wanted to achieve. Events between then and now strongly effected Dag, but their friendship remains strong and has been rebuilt. [to be re-written]

silent - His ears twitched
His ears twitched with her words, an eloquence beyond his own that he processed with a long exhale. The giant suddenly looked very tired, almost angry; he wanted to believe her. Dag lumbered through life as if every fault, every discretion in others and deceit unto him was just another log to walk over in his path. Nothing could stop him facing what was his, and that was the problem. An obsession for the control.
All of it.
"A flame needs a source."
He replied, regarding everything he'd been though with a great apathy despite his determination to see it through. He knew not of the grandeur of the feats he had accomplished, nor how others would have crippled at the first hurdle; it never crossed his mind, and perhaps it did not for many others with the way he showed how it all meant nothing to him - just a step in the right direction like all the others. His strength of will was unimaginable, even when in hiding; enjoy the moment in that moment, and let your will to be victorious be summoned only when needed. Never to dwell on past, present or future.
A great King will win a war and move on to love his Kingdom the next day.
And what of his neighbours fire? Despite her bright presence, there was something lonely about Jettem. Though good at building bridges between her and others, it was her that walked the distance between. He felt as if she was careful not to allow anyone to walk back with her... staying on their side of the river.
"One day soon, I will find the end of my wick. Then I will cross a bridge over the chasm I created to see who is waiting for me, hm-hm. A complicated thing, simplicity."
Distance is what he was very good at creating, regardless of how close he became; he was never close enough. The mark of a creature who wishes control of their destiny - to not let others weave a single thread of their own within his tapestry.
A warrior must only take care that his spirit is not broken.
Dina-
Upon Dandelion Hill stood a regal looking and heavily antlered stag. His front legs were close together almost in a point, balance resting entirely in his hind legs stationed further apart. He was quiet, still, but paying all the attention he could to the forest. In the midst of his observations cooed a silken voice, and he turned his head to see its owner.
'Hm, strange; I have not seen a doe such as her before.' Dag thought to himself. As she bowed, he dipped his crown in return and moved his front legs further apart. The scar on his neck wrinkled with the movement of his heavily set shoulders, the parting in between them flipping to and fro as he began to turn around before politely addressing her.
"Hello there."
The blue bull allowed an obvious look to her horns, not afraid to show an interest, and smiled.
"How interesting... I have met few antlered does, but yours appear to be very different indeed, if you don't mind me saying."
She watched him with
She paused to take some breaths in between sentences, so it wasn't like she was droning on. With a proud yet gentle smile, she added: "I guess I'm just special. And, sir, I must say the same about yours." She nodded upwards towards his mighty large rack, staring into the large prongs. She let her green eyes wander back to the stag's face, only to clear her throat softly and femininely. "Nnn, I am Thriae, and you are, sir?"
------------
LOL. Shes all: "Sir.. Blah blah blah blah.. Sir.. Blah blah blah.. Sir.. Blah blah.."
Although, the alias fits Daggie well. <3
"Goodness-" He said as she
"Thriae... that is a lovely name." He stood still and raised his head slightly higher, tilting it forward when he said his name in return,
"I am Iaurdagnire. Hm-hm, but you can shorten it however you like. Most call me Dag."
--
I think Kaoori still calls Dag "Sir" too. When I first started here, he was always "Sir Dag" - I'm glad it suits him enough to be addressed as such now and again!
I was in absolute stitches
Poor Dag? Poor me! XD It was
It was so funny being frightened of Terafawn *giant stag cowers behind mini-fawn Ourania* haha; I can't make my mind up whether a jawless fawn is a scarier prospect than adult Teradeer....
She bowed her head as he
Again, she rolled his two nicknames in her head. With a dainty sigh, she looked at him with her dazzling green eyes and smiled. [=Times]"Do you mind if I call you Nire? I like it very much. And, you can call my Raie. Its a bit easier on the tounge in my view. Either way, its fine, Nire."[/font
So Blixt was approaching
So we climb up to the top of the hill and there's a Dagfawn in full set.
I smiled and said, "Oop, yep....that's Dag!"
Blixt says hello anyway and offers a cup of tea.

"Glad you still r-remember
I have m-missed you."
Dina - "You do?" His ears
"You do?" His ears perked forward; he liked being called Nire, even though he couldn't recall if anyone else usually referred to him with that name.
"I'd very much like to be called that, Raie... hm-hm, yes, that is easier to remember." The large bull stepped closer, comfortable around a doe that wasn't... lacking in height. Her markings were interesting to him, and her facial structure was intriguing.
"You're part Ku... Kudu? Did I say it right? I've never heard of one before. May I ask where you are from?"
Quad - Ooo, sounds lovely -sips my boring tea- (;
Dampir - Same (: Sorry Dag wasn't entirely active, I was doing other things at the same time.
onyx - Aw, I was AFK at the time. Thank you for the visit!
Rouda - "Hm-hm, it certainly a day for meeting old faces again. You haven't been forgotten, Nevilly; I was glad to have played with you."
Wtf I didn't mention their silly cage-game in his updates. I'll have to add it in tonight haha, that was fun XD
She nodded softly and
She swallowed silently, her green eyes blinking in the soft, ambient light around them. "Its kind of..., interesting, to be the only one of your kind... But then again, its saddening too..." Then, she seemed to look puzzled and thoughtful. With a questioning expression on her feminine features, she blinked and looked back to Nire. "Though, I have absolutely no idea how I got here... Hmmn."
Thank you for helping Virgil

Dina - "Well, if it makes
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I too don't know how exactly I got here. Nor do I know what I am!"
He chuckled, casting a sideways glance toward the twin statues and at the same time knocking his outer pincer-like tines on branches above.
Clunk, clank.
In trying to manouver them away, he managed to lock himself awkwardly between two that were crossing. Exhaling away his frustration, he stopped and let his head tip to where his antlers wanted it to go.
"Hurgh-hum." He cleared his throat and nonchalantly asked,
"Would you mind pressing down on the gap between my outer-most tines with your chin? I think you might be tall enough... I just need some leverage to slide free."
He spoke as if it happened often. The problem with a heavy set of antlers is that if one gets stuck, the counter-balance of weight is lost; strength in the neck is therefore rendered null and void with regards to the manoeuvrability of the head. A violent shake could rectify the problem in normal size stags, but with him it would be like swaying a wrecking ball - not much of the branches would be left attached to the tree.
Toran. - Eeeeveryone is a sucker for the cheek floof ;D thank you!
"You definitely seem to be
She chuckled playfully as he asked for her help and nodded, stepping forward and obediently placing her lower chin on his farthest tines. She was careful to not hurt herself with his antlers, but also careful to not stick Nire in the face or herself with her own horns. "You seem to have done this before, Nire. Ahhaha, but I can see how..."
With her head up in his antlers, she immediately could get a better count on them, though it would still be quite far off. She managed to count around twenty single tines mixed in together before her eyes gave up on her.
"M-hm," one eye closed
There was an awkward creek of hoof gripping on slippery grass as Dag moved his left foot further behind him. The weight of her chin was enough to get the leverage he needed, and with an obligatory grunt Dag twisted his head downward and moved away from her. He kept his head low and side-stepped until he could perceive enough space above to lift it again.
"Thank you." The bull said at the end of a tired sigh, "I think I've gone past the point of feeling embarrassed when that happens." Dag smiled sheepishly before clearing his throat, quite thankful a tall deer like Raie was around so it was less of a fiasco.
(Sorry I took so long)
"Your most certainly welcome,
She huffed softly and looked away, only to quickly refocus onto Nire. "Your neck must be so sore from holding them up, yes?"
(Its fine. <3 I was on vacation this whole weekend, and I literally just got back. PERFECT TIMING. 8D)
Ooo, did you go anywhere
♥!! Why, yes I did, if
You were... ON A BOAT!? Wtf
