Dag's full name is pronounced '
I-or-dag-nyre', and was given the title
'The Fortress' in recognition of the guardianship he gives to and inspires in others. He is a symbol of unyielding strength of will and exhibits an impenetrable, one-pointed focus to rise above any situation. The emblem of victory - the Peregrine Falcon - still remains with him from his first and very old title of 'Wings of Peregrine'.
The Fortress }
Voice - Deep bass; an equal balance of gentility and authoritative power associated with a voice of moral substance and leadership. Feral vocalizations are rare from him, though he is known to produce brontidal rumbles and has an extraordinarily low, growling bellow.
Scent - His scent is very gustatory - likened to the smoulder of a warm, damp bonfire in the middle of open fields; burnt soil of old forests long gone.
Build - Based on an old-world ice giant
Eucladoceros species; the first species of deer genus to have highly evolved antlers yet is a primitive mass of strong bone and muscle. His body type is a visually solid domination with a dense muscular structure most noticeable around his barrel-chest and shoulders, reinforcing the relatively short, strong neck that bares the weight of a heavy square skull - resembling more bull than deer - and its gargantuan artillery; both of which being the most prominent indication of his skeletal bulk. Being top-heavy, his posture is almost restricted to one position when still. A long body means legs are stationed far apart to accommodate and spread the weight, and his head is always held high in balance giving him a kingly air, which is also reflected in his fluid and powerful gait. At full speed, there is very little that can stop his bulldozer momentum.
Antlers - Fortress by design. Supernumerary, elongated branched-antlers where the beam has grown outward behind him, tines growing upward; his outer primary tines are the largest and grow into long forward-facing pincers. There are 12 tines per pedical and are split into four sets, all of which together are specifically designed to interlock with any antler type. Central clusters suited to single beam pronged deer, outer and brow tines designed for the larger supernumerary or palmated antlers such as Irish Elk. They are incredibly thick, astonishingly heavy, and an impenetrable defense that cannot be breached.
Visual - His coat is made up of dense, varying shades of grey that give him an overall arsenic colouration, but his mane and face are the most striking; dirty white for the most part with a carnelian-red pattern draped around the contours of his beady-eyed, frill-cheeked face. The white of his mane continues only half-way under his stomach, and ends in a point with a very thin separating line of charcoal.
There is also an enormous patch-scar that tears through the left side of his neck which is coupled with the nick in his ear on the same side. This was given to him by the Spring Wolf in 2010*.
Conqueror - Being the placid giant he is, Dag never lowers his antlers without reason; rarely has his combat been seen within the peaceful confines of the forest. However, heed the warning of his scar. Events leading up to his present existence shed further light on this war-hardened battler. There is something prehistoric and almost predatory about his combat - the misfortune of colliding with such a monolith is simply an all-sensory deluge.

Iaurdagnire's story has become that of Endless Forest legend, starting in 2009 and ending in 2013. His story involves the Forest, the Gods, and the spiritual embodiment of the Seasons whom he served with perpetual lives as a God-given duty. Dag wanted to escape, and continually fought for a life and death that was his to dictate; to cease to be a higher power's fuel for intellectual evolution. But in learning about his place in the world and a way to put an end to his duties, he became even more lost. Ultimately, Dag's story is an exploration of purpose and morality in all forms, and almost entirely community driven. The community has been involved in each section in some way, and these are referred to as "Season Events" by those who have participated; the events were designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of the story.

Ravenflight - The Queen His love and greatest treasure; indescribably bound to her like no other. Their history had long ran parallel, and although their paths crossed only rarely in bygone years, they were connected by a deep empathy for their respective trials and desire for freedom. Behind closed doors they each played a part in helping each other fulfill a purpose in order to escape, and then found themselves lost without it. When Dag returned to the forest, Ravenflight tried to help him re-adjust through her understanding of what it is like to feel truly detached from the world around you. As they spent more time together, Dag increasingly began to dote on her and fell very deeply in love. Captivated by her in every way. Ravenflight has given him a new purpose, and Dag is utterly devoted to her continued happiness. Adores and is enchanted by everything she is.
Cry - The Ace Guardian; a source of security; life indebted to. Dag has known Cry for a long time, and upon his return was healed by him (
see 'War Drum' Act V). Displays an affectionate "big brother" attitude towards the small white stag when around him.
Ephiré - The Jack An unspoken natural affinity; indebted to. The two giants have much in common with the way they cope with the world around them, and it is this understanding that lead Ephiré to become the catalyst in Dag's journey (
see 'Catalyst' story arc Act I-III). Has a profound trust in him and admires him greatly. He is also the only deer within the forest to have witnessed the full brunt of Dag's combat.
Virgil/The Red - Part of the Fortress' strong foundations. One of his oldest friends of a different world to his own, wild and unrestricted. At the time of his trials, Dag thought of Virgil's existence as "real", moreso than his own and one he wanted to achieve. Events between then and now strongly effected Dag, but their friendship remains strong and has been rebuilt. [to be re-written]

It wasn't until he was right beside her that she realized he was matching her quite well. She moved over slightly, keeping space between them; the last thing she wanted was a misstep and her flattened body on the forest floor.
She couldn't help but think that he looked awful ridiculous the way he was running; such a giant galloping through the woods seemed comical, in a sense.
As if to challenge him, and herself, she lowered her head so it was almost on the same level as her back; suddenly, she pushed harder with her back legs, and she pulled out ahead of Dag a bit. By that time however, she could feel her lungs burning in response to the push she was giving her body, but she swallowed hard, shoving the pain aside.
Catch me if you can!

He watched her try desperately to pull ahead, and he tried to copy her tactic. But antlers cause an awful lot of drag, and just seconds after he lowered his head he had to raise it again so the down-force didn't topple him. They were both so fast that the pond came up on them rather quickly, and Dag hadn't quite thought it all through. While Lacie could stop at a moments notice, he had to take the time to slow down - and that, he did.
"Looks like you'll win on account of my brakes!"
He shouted above his galloping, and as he took steps to slow down, Lacie shot ahead.
You're the god of Goobers? Oh

For a split moment, she thought he was going to fall flat on his face; but once she saw him right himself, she didn't hesitate. She dashed ahead, almost as if on a suicide run. She looked as if she was going to run straight into the water and fall in too deep...
...Except for the fact that she stopped just shy of the water's quick and steep descent. Her hooves stomped with a thud silenced by the water, and she took the moment to posture, happy with her victory.
Turning to him, she laughed as she approached, rearing again to touch noses.
For a moment, I thought you were going to lose it!
She laughed again, dancing circles around him.
And so the hare beats the tortoise. Slow and steady doesn't always win.

Slowing down to a fast trot, Dag rounded Lacie while she postured and sloshed through the water, stopping when he came to dry ground again.
"Hm-hm, if I could stop faster I would have beaten you for sure! You're lucky; I could have simply run you over..."
He reared up to a terrifying height and jokingly jabbed his hooves towards her in mid-air, pretending to threaten to squash her. But he came back to earth quickly, chuckling - he'd obviously had fun letting off steam.

She shook herself as he splashed around, feigning anger at the water dripping off her fur.
You're such a kid, Dag. She chided playfully, taking a moment, to attempt to kick up water in his face with one of her hooves.
Hm. Then why didn't you run me over? She asked jokingly, picturing it, and laughing to herself.
When he reared up, she froze, watching with a certain calm intensity. He wouldn't hurt her; she knew that. But she could feel the earth tremble beneath his landing.
The next time we have an earthquake, I'll know just who to blame. She laughed after finishing her sentence.
"Ha-ha! Yes, I suppose I-"
He paused mid-sentence and was suddenly very quiet. His eyes narrowed as he carefully looked at the ground, ears rising and falling with each passing thought. Earthquake.
Dag's expression relaxed into a smile, but there was something very telling and ominous about it,
"I will be the one to blame. Hm-hm. You're very funny, Lacie."
She caught the pause, and
Sorry. It was all she could say, and she said it a bit flatter than she would have liked.
Hafu :'C -feels bad- I'll

"Mm?" He didn't understand
He didn't understand why she said sorry. It wasn't like he could tell her she gave him an idea to break down a volcanic wolf - how ridiculous he would sound.
"I'm sorry. I wondered off a bit, there; I mean to say how I like the idea of creating an earthquake. Surely it gives the opportunity for 'fat' jokes?"
He winked, never taking himself seriously, as always.
"Do you like to swim?"
Came a swift change of subject.
The fur on her shoulders
As if you don't enough fat jokes besides. As if to convince herself, she poked his side with the prongs of her helm. Fatty.
She didn't seem shocked by the sudden change; instead she stretched out, letting her back elongate before it snapped back into position. She wandered down to where the water just lapped her hooves, and she found herself glancing at her reflection.
Very much so, actually. I love water. Her voice was quiet and careful as she spoke; she was treading needles.
She didn't have the heart to ask him if he liked water, or liked to swim.
She had a feeling the outcome wouldn't be pleasant.
"Really? Well, that's
He walked past her very calmly and trod the water carefully. It is strange how large creatures seem to share a certain affinity with water; they could interact and cause very little fuss with great ease. Dag getting into the water was a fine example. He walked - without rushing - to the point where the bottom of the pond dropped, and sank silently into the water up to his neck. The only sound was a comical ploop when the parted water met up again over his back, sending one large and perfectly curved wave rippling from him as he swam. It reached the beach without forming a crest.
A pond being a pond, it didn't take him long to reach the other side where he hoisted his front out of the water. Great rivers tumbled from his coat as he did so.
"I have taught myself to suppress anger to know the value of victory, and to forgive your demons in time - nothing annoys them more to accept you as the better."
He looked back at Lacie on the shore and smiled as if to say 'it's okay'. He hoped she would forgive him for that one moment a year ago.
She watched him carefully,
But she was not about to be one of them.
With a barking growl, one a bit louder than she would have liked, she charged into the Pond, paddling carefully with her legs under the surface. Her small form looked quite pathetic traveling through such a large space, but she continued on until she reached Dag on the opposite end.
She caught his smile, and frowned in response.
Whoever said that I even had anything against you for that? There's nothing to be cross about or to forgive.
She shook the water free from her body, the sunlight causing it to look like sparks snapping free from her frame.
Somehow, I would find that dangerous. Suppression leads to turmoil. Turmoil turns to anger all over again, before breeding into hate. It wouldn't be long before everything snapped.
Subconsciously, she rubbed herself against one of the willows nearby.
Any heart can rip itself apart.
There was a feeling of reminisce that radiated from her.
Or others can do it for it.
"There is no need to take
The depth of his voice seemed more apparent when he spoke bluntly. Even though his voice was not raised nor his words hurtful, his stern eyes drove home that feeling of being scolded regardless. Dag was not sure why she was cross at all - he didn't accuse her of anything.
He followed her up the bank - slowly so as not to slip - but stayed put as Lacie walked to one of the trunks. He shook himself while she was out of reach, and the droplets pitter-pattered against the willows leafy vines draped either side of him.
"You are right, and it is why I have the capacity to be feared."
His eyes wondered up the grass, looking away from her.
"I have many reasons to "snap". The key is to do so at the opportune moment."
Dag walked towards her and poked his head through the vines, his expression serious yet sad and... accepting.
"My heart cannot be ripped apart as long as I keep others a distance from it."
No mate, no family, yet he is loved in different ways by all who know him. But he himself will not name them, or make light of what they mean to him; it is too hurtful to single them out and bring them too close into his life. His heart would know when to end, and wished for it to make that decision on its own.
At the opportune moment.
"... Do you understand, Lacie?"
His eyes wanted her to nod quietly. She knew what was possible - they all did - but standing back made it easier to either accept or ignore his fate if he is to ever fail.
Srs stuff. Oh snap. And just

She cringed at his blunt tone; restraint was something she had a hard time with. Her ears pinned back, and her rump sagged down slightly. Her tail was tucked close, and a small series of chortles and whines escaped her mouth. Submission.
I'm sorry...I wasn't trying to scold you...
She backed up a bit, listening to his words carefully, intently.
It's understandable. Perhaps I should be doing something similar; keeping others just out of reach. I'm too close, I think.
She nodded under his gaze; not because he wanted her to, but because she wanted to. She had some control left.
Mm.
asdjkhasdf --- The hair
---
The hair between Dag's shoulders prickled, both upset and angry that Lacie had submitted in such a way; he couldn't stand the feeble sounds that came from her and how small she looked due to her downward-curved stature. She may as well have curled up in a ball and mewed.
Lacie." He sighed, and his ears relaxed so they rested just above the line of his eyes, bobbing up and down as he walked toward her. Only when his head was over her neck did he stop and reach down, pulling her neck with the underside of his jaw into his chest,
You know how close you stand by me, don't you? And I wouldn't want that to change. I know you wouldn't change for anyone else, either."
She noticed the rising hairs,
At first, she resisted his attempt to pull her closer with a half hearted grunt, but she caved finally and buried her face in his chest.
Maybe only a little. I can't put words into others mouths. That's not my right.
She pulled away slightly to shake her head, staving off a headache.
I try not to change. I don't like to. It infuriates me to think that I have to change for someone else, especially if against my own will.
She paused briefly.
Hey, Dag. A question. There was a time a while back where I came to you as...well, the "other form." You didn't seem pleased. I just...hm. I'm not even sure what I'm trying to ask. The way she talked, she didn't sound upset or angry. She kept her tone normal, even a bit airy.
Her head snapped up, as if the thought just occurred to her.
Is there a part of you that resents or despises me for what I really am?
She wanted to ram herself into a rock as soon as she asked.
Bah, sorry. Just something that's been bugging me, that's all.

She's referring to this, by the by. I know that wasn't a finished RP, but meh. And yes, that is something that's been on my mind for a while LOL. I'm such a twit.

A low hum escaped him on an exhale, needing a moment to remember. Dag could recall his feelings at the time, but it wasn't anything to do with resentment.
"There is no part of me that feels that way."
He could have simply said she was barking up the wrong tree, but he wanted to be clear,
"It is difficult to explain. But I have fought creatures not too dissimilar from your other form in the past, and the memories were still there. Not so much now; it seems so long ago..."
He trailed off and let the weight of his head carry his nose to touch her fur,
"It is not you, or your other form that I am resentful of."
I killed him.
Her shoulders seemed to
I'm relieved. Though...
She couldn't fully understand what always brought her to say...
I'm sorry...I didn't know.
She paused briefly.
I guess I just...wanted to make sure I... She looked away. ...wasn't going to be rej- no, pushed away for something like that.
She turned her head to nudge the side of his neck with the nose of her helm.

Thinking a warm chuckle was best repressed at this moment, he simply smiled and returned her nudge with a press of his nose on her opposing shoulder-blade,
"It is sweet how your mind seems to obsess on things until you're forced out of self-concious curiosity to voice yourself. You didn't really think I'd push you away for something like that deep down; you're relieved that I didn't give an unexpected answer, mhm?"
Mel - Pshaw I never start rps first because I'm not very good at that 8D I need someone else to be SUPER AWESOME first so I can attempt to write at their level |D

A lilac shaded doe trodded her way through the stubby grass underneath the shade of the guarding pine trees, an area where she felt safest. Not far in he distance was the ever so farmiliar ruins. She wandered around the broken structure examining the details of the building finely. It was at this point she picked up a certain recognizable scent, a faint aroma that smelt somewhat like charred wood, this was mostly over taken by other scents around her, but she definately knew this one. She attempted to follow the incense through the forest.

There are times where I think I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut, haha. She laughed.
She paused to think for a moment.
I....don't know. There are times I don't even know what I'm really thinking. I suppose maybe I had that fear that I would be rejected, somewhere deep down. I'm not above doubting everyone I know. Still....
She stretched her back a little as she thought of what else to say.
I'm glad.
