Dag's full name is pronounced '
I-or-dag-nyre', and was given the title
'The Fortress' in recognition of the guardianship he gives to and inspires in others. He is a symbol of unyielding strength of will and exhibits an impenetrable, one-pointed focus to rise above any situation. The emblem of victory - the Peregrine Falcon - still remains with him from his first and very old title of 'Wings of Peregrine'.
The Fortress }
Voice - Deep bass; an equal balance of gentility and authoritative power associated with a voice of moral substance and leadership. Feral vocalizations are rare from him, though he is known to produce brontidal rumbles and has an extraordinarily low, growling bellow.
Scent - His scent is very gustatory - likened to the smoulder of a warm, damp bonfire in the middle of open fields; burnt soil of old forests long gone.
Build - Based on an old-world ice giant
Eucladoceros species; the first species of deer genus to have highly evolved antlers yet is a primitive mass of strong bone and muscle. His body type is a visually solid domination with a dense muscular structure most noticeable around his barrel-chest and shoulders, reinforcing the relatively short, strong neck that bares the weight of a heavy square skull - resembling more bull than deer - and its gargantuan artillery; both of which being the most prominent indication of his skeletal bulk. Being top-heavy, his posture is almost restricted to one position when still. A long body means legs are stationed far apart to accommodate and spread the weight, and his head is always held high in balance giving him a kingly air, which is also reflected in his fluid and powerful gait. At full speed, there is very little that can stop his bulldozer momentum.
Antlers - Fortress by design. Supernumerary, elongated branched-antlers where the beam has grown outward behind him, tines growing upward; his outer primary tines are the largest and grow into long forward-facing pincers. There are 12 tines per pedical and are split into four sets, all of which together are specifically designed to interlock with any antler type. Central clusters suited to single beam pronged deer, outer and brow tines designed for the larger supernumerary or palmated antlers such as Irish Elk. They are incredibly thick, astonishingly heavy, and an impenetrable defense that cannot be breached.
Visual - His coat is made up of dense, varying shades of grey that give him an overall arsenic colouration, but his mane and face are the most striking; dirty white for the most part with a carnelian-red pattern draped around the contours of his beady-eyed, frill-cheeked face. The white of his mane continues only half-way under his stomach, and ends in a point with a very thin separating line of charcoal.
There is also an enormous patch-scar that tears through the left side of his neck which is coupled with the nick in his ear on the same side. This was given to him by the Spring Wolf in 2010*.
Conqueror - Being the placid giant he is, Dag never lowers his antlers without reason; rarely has his combat been seen within the peaceful confines of the forest. However, heed the warning of his scar. Events leading up to his present existence shed further light on this war-hardened battler. There is something prehistoric and almost predatory about his combat - the misfortune of colliding with such a monolith is simply an all-sensory deluge.

Iaurdagnire's story has become that of Endless Forest legend, starting in 2009 and ending in 2013. His story involves the Forest, the Gods, and the spiritual embodiment of the Seasons whom he served with perpetual lives as a God-given duty. Dag wanted to escape, and continually fought for a life and death that was his to dictate; to cease to be a higher power's fuel for intellectual evolution. But in learning about his place in the world and a way to put an end to his duties, he became even more lost. Ultimately, Dag's story is an exploration of purpose and morality in all forms, and almost entirely community driven. The community has been involved in each section in some way, and these are referred to as "Season Events" by those who have participated; the events were designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of the story.

Ravenflight - The Queen His love and greatest treasure; indescribably bound to her like no other. Their history had long ran parallel, and although their paths crossed only rarely in bygone years, they were connected by a deep empathy for their respective trials and desire for freedom. Behind closed doors they each played a part in helping each other fulfill a purpose in order to escape, and then found themselves lost without it. When Dag returned to the forest, Ravenflight tried to help him re-adjust through her understanding of what it is like to feel truly detached from the world around you. As they spent more time together, Dag increasingly began to dote on her and fell very deeply in love. Captivated by her in every way. Ravenflight has given him a new purpose, and Dag is utterly devoted to her continued happiness. Adores and is enchanted by everything she is.
Cry - The Ace Guardian; a source of security; life indebted to. Dag has known Cry for a long time, and upon his return was healed by him (
see 'War Drum' Act V). Displays an affectionate "big brother" attitude towards the small white stag when around him.
Ephiré - The Jack An unspoken natural affinity; indebted to. The two giants have much in common with the way they cope with the world around them, and it is this understanding that lead Ephiré to become the catalyst in Dag's journey (
see 'Catalyst' story arc Act I-III). Has a profound trust in him and admires him greatly. He is also the only deer within the forest to have witnessed the full brunt of Dag's combat.
Virgil/The Red - Part of the Fortress' strong foundations. One of his oldest friends of a different world to his own, wild and unrestricted. At the time of his trials, Dag thought of Virgil's existence as "real", moreso than his own and one he wanted to achieve. Events between then and now strongly effected Dag, but their friendship remains strong and has been rebuilt. [to be re-written]

Azura "Familiar... Hm, I
"Familiar... Hm, I tend to like the overly-friendly type. But methinks that is due to my abundance of energy that needs draining on a daily basis..."
A momentary smile gave way to a sudden look of concern. Dag had realized that he may have been too exuberant around Lacie all this time. Judging by her tone and her question, it could be that she had done things that she didn't want to with the fear of hurting him.
"You have done nothing to disappoint or annoy me, Lacie. I know that perhaps it is frustrating to approach others, and they you sometimes... But you're one after my own heart; all you ask for is the right kind of... hm, awareness and respect. Everybody does, really. For example, I'm very set in my ways and will pay no mind to those who stare and those who do not bow..."
He stopped himself, not wanting it to turn into a dos and don'ts session. Lacie seemed embarrassed enough for asking.
"I hope I've never inadvertently forced you to be up and about when you're otherwise not in the mood..."
He paused, but quickly continued before she could answer,
"And if you leave because of my company or for any other reason, you do know that I'll always return to spend time with you later? I wouldn't want you to feel ignored."
She giggles a bit, always
Perhaps you do, ha ha~
She pauses, listening to him carefully, letting everything process, their meanings clearing themselves in the fragments of her mind.
Mm. Understandable. But...I don't want to be....too difficult I guess...blah.
She has trouble finding the correct words, seeing as how Dag described most of it perfectly himself.
Her hearts almost stops at his next words, unsure if maybe she really did force herself to play.
No. There's no way.
It...all boils down to the company I keep. Some I can't help but...force myself to do something to appease them. But as far as you are concerned, no, I've never forced myself to play. I genuinely do like to play when you're around. Your silliness is contagious.
She bumps her head against his neck lightly, reinforcing her words.
Heh, it's okay. I don't want to take you away from everyone else. But...of course ~

He clears his throat quietly
"Ha - I can't be taken away from anyone, I only leave on my own accord. Leaving a group for a while is fine when it's done politely; all you need to do is make it clear you're not leaving because of them specifically.
I am glad my silliness is contagious though. I-..."
His eyes dart around suspiciously before leaning his head forward; sure signs of a secret about to be told.
"I think my silliness compensates for my size. The truth is, sometimes I wish to be... smaller. I even wonder if other stags think less of me being something so large frolicking like a fawn."
He glances grudgingly up at his antlers that effortlessly dwarf most things around him,
"Then there's these that are hardly welcoming. I'm afraid - of myself - for having them; I've vowed to never use them to fight. I'm glad they're not on the head of someone else with a temper... Ah...
Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble."
I have flaws, too.
ROFL KAORIIIIIIIII <3
Your ba-donka-donk is tickety-boo tasty. C8
She jerks back, feeling
Sorry about that! Ha ha...
She pricks her ears forward, practically hanging off of each word as it fell from the depths of his mouth.
Let them think what they want. You're you. No one can change that. I find it quite funny and cute, to be frank.
She glances up at the tines, hearing him out, trying not to imagine seeing things impaled on them in a moment of fury. She sucks in air through her mouth, slightly entranced by the crown of thorns before her.
They truly were the crown upon the king's head.
She shudders slightly.
Mm.
Ah, no no, it's fine! I don't mind hearing others out, curious as I am. Maybe even too curious at times.
My flaws outweigh yours.
It was nice to see you again,
It was nice to see you again, Iaurdagnire. I enjoyed the little romp that we had.
It's been a while since I've when out and just... played.
Thank you for that.
Azura A sly smile slithered
A sly smile slithered around his mouth. Something she said had obviously satisfied him.
"Now about your worries with regards to pleasing or not pleasing others..."
He stood up slowly. The sound of an old tree creaking with his movement was a perfect thing to imagine as he had quite a long way to go to standing. Sighing comfortably, he stretched out his front legs and felt invigorated.
"Let them think what they want. You're you. No-one can change that."
He began to laugh and edged away slightly as if to suggest a game of chase for his cheekiness,
"I find it quite funny and cute, to be frank."
Ravyn
"You're quite welcome, Rayvn. Everyone deserves a break, even if it's just a good run."
He looks out at nothing with a fond expression on his face,
"Running with a friend until your legs simply don't work anymore. Then scarcely any air to laugh as you collapse on each other... Mn, I wonder if we tend to out-grow such things.
What is your favourite thing to do, for fun?"
She looks away, knowing she's
She hears him repeat her words, and mock shock colours her face. She quickly rises, tufts of white hair falling to the ground.
She jumps circles around him, a slight chortle escaping her mouth in-between leaps.
Think you can catch me, Dag!?
She says it playfully, a burst of energy ready to spring to life.
For a brief moment however, if one were to look very carefully, there's a slight flicker of melancholy.
I get what you're saying, Dag, it's just...I don't know if...I can be that way...
A quick roll on the ground, and another jump followed by a play bow erases that fleeting moment.
If only for a while, she wants to live in the here and now.
Hm.. Yeah. We all change as
Hm.. Yeah.
We all change as we become older, though.
Her words seemed blunt and uncaring... But it wasn't that she never cared, it's just that's how she spoke. Ravyn spoke the truth.
She followed his eyes with her own; seeing all, but focusing on nothing.
Fun... Huh.
It seemed unfamiliar to her almost, just like the thoughts and memories of so long ago that danced around and played images in her head.
She shifted her weight.
I think... it's been a while since I've done anything to be considered fun, but that doesn't mean I don't take enjoyment out of the normal things I do from day to day.
I'm too... mellow to find romping around on a daily basis fun. It would just tire and annoy me...
I've had my share of romping and fun, and I don't try to like or do the things I've long outgrown... There isn't much use in doing that, is there?
She looks at him suddenly.
Oh, I'm sorry. It seems I've ranted...
So tell me, what do you consider... Fun?
Daaaaaaaaaag
/leap and cling
Azura "Evidently not!" Lacie
"Evidently not!"
Lacie was far quicker and literally jumped rings around him. He wasn't exactly... maneuverable, and always found it hard to turn tight corners and retain any balance chasing around in circles. He simply couldn't catch up and was out of breath by the time Lacie ended it.
"I should count myself-"
A floating ball of Lacie-hair floated in front of his nose. Dag's ears flew forward and his eyes crossed to follow it, distracted. For a moment he looked like a child stopped dead in amazement.
"Oh!" He laughed loudly, his mouth wide open showing thick white teeth, "For a moment there, I couldn't figure out what it was. You're like a giant dandelion shedding those fluffy seeds."
He restrained himself from pretending to play the dandelion time-telling game on her. Well, at least he had some control.
Ravyn
"Considered fun?"
Her "rant" confused him. Fun was not something that was dictated by outsiders, and he knew Ravyn wasn't the race-around kind of doe in the first place.
His brow raised; she hadn't answered his question, but it didn't matter.
"I find fun in watching things." He replied, equally blunt but with a content tone paired with a smile, "You notice things other people don't when they're distracted from looking. Though, I may seem distracted for not paying attention to what they are partaking in."
"Some - if not most - would consider that boring, hm?"
Halloooows *flails* Bahaha, Gengar, oh how I loved pokemon <3
She couldn't recall the last
But by now, she was quite out of breath as well, and the dandelion comment humoured her.
Dandelions are nice, when their yellow residue doesn't get all over your nose and face. Though they smell pretty...
She stops to look at one, deciding not to sniff it, avoiding getting her helm marked with yellow.
They're your favorite flower, right...?
"Oh yes, very much so." Her
Her laugh was intoxicating, and he couldn't seem to stop even when it died down to short chuckles,
"They're very stubborn things. You can dig it up and shred the earth it was in, but it makes a habit of re-appearing again. Both amusing and admirable, don't you think?"
His tongue flicked out of the corner of his mouth,
"Though, they're not particularly... tasty. I had a stomach ache for weeks, hm-hm."
"Do you have a favourite flower? Or plant, even?"
(I CAN NEVER BE OUT-FLIRTED.
Aww, I'm sorry to hear that! I suppose not everything pleasant-smelling tastes good, huh?
Playfully, she side bumps the stag, just barely at the height to hit his stomach. She was the mouse, and he was the cat. Though a rather gentle cat, who simply liked to watch the mouse.
To have that kind of endurance...to be able to survive the most extremes like that...indeed, admirable. And amusing.
On his question, she thinks a bit. One flower goes through her mind after the next.
Her mind clicks, and she speaks, a certain fondness in her tone.
Mm! The Rose of Sharon. Beautiful...and everlasting. Sure, the individual flowers might not last long, but...they simply keep going on, Time hardly bossing it around.

Oh it's perfectly alright! It
27th June - 2:37am Night.
Night. Full moon. Frequent cloudy cover.
He came when the moon was elusive. When the forest was almost pitch black save from the dancing fireflies and occasional glowing life forms. This way he could not be seen until he was but a mere couple of metres away. But he could be smelt, or maybe even heard by the most sensitive ears.
He approached the fern tree Iaurdagnire often nested around. Head held low, ears limp - not erect, not flat. He was not submissive upon his approach, but despite all the sleep, he still seemed exhausted.
It had not even been an hour since they parted ways for what should supposingly be for the night. But tonight was different.
Virgil settled beside the tree, beside the greater stag. Outside the ferns, but a reach close. He said nothing - he didn't need to.
He'll stay until dawn.
I'll reply to this later (: I
I did want to stay and play with you, Misako/Sterre and Trees earlier, but it's not often Sao finds me to go and spend time with him so I took my chance. <3
--
A noise came from giant resembling a waking grumble of 'who is here?'
He opened one eye and saw it was Virgil.
He closed it after watching him for a while, then too, said nothing.
His speech over the past day had declined some-what anyway; less chirpy, shorter sentences.
Quiet.

When Dag is ready to wake up,
We live in an expanding universe. All of it is trying to get away from Dag.

She's surprised he doesn't send her tumbling over. But she figures he knows how to control his strength.
You men and your...ways. She says in a mock tone of disappointment.
Stretching, she's not sure if there's anything left to say. Instead of saying something, she opts to sit down, watching the stag.
My muse just went out the door too, lawl.

"Kaoori, I hope you are... taking care of yourself. I promise I'll see you soon."
30th June - 3:11am Cloud
Cloud Cover, cool moist breeze.
He had to visit tonight, an earlier encounter had left the Hart fearful of offending his friend, and he had enough to deal with.
Guilt need not be added to his list.
His approach was slightly louder than usual, he did not pick his steps as perfectly as he usually did.
He sat on the spot he took previously. Outside the ferns, a reach close.
This time, he wasn't to be so silent.
"Sir..." He started, quiet, but there was something else in his voice. It was strained, exhausted. A sign of health that could be better.
"I... would like to offer my most.. humble apology... in regards to earlier." He paused, laying down and shifting into a more comfortable position, all the while relaxing, and making himself vulnerable.
For a moment it seemed like he wanted to say something more. But he never finished it. Instead he just surrendered to rest.
"I hope you mind not..." He eventually whispered.
Dag was sitting up this time,
"You don't look very well." He stated plainly, looking Virgil up and down.
"... See if there are pink flowers, among the purple. They are called Musk Mallow - they'll help your stomach work better and aid the sickness you feel." Both Virgil and Kaoori seemed sickly with the grief of friends passing, but they needed to eat something. Even if it was just one tiny pink flower.
((Did you enjoy the rain
The deer listened as he closed his eyes, the movements of his ears made that clear, if one was able to see it in this darkness.
"I will take that into consideration, sir... Thank you."
He will be sure to have a look when his appetite returns - and when he is able to eat. After the four days it's been, that is sure to be some time soon.
It's okay to be ill sometimes, and despite his great grief, Virgil had no intention of letting it destroy him - not now.
Unless he was to be asked to leave, there is a good chance the Red Deer will again stay in the company of the wiser Eucladoceros until dawn. He liked it here, it was safe, warm.
