Please join me in posting one a day. This is a challenge to encourage you to work on your craft every single day.

It isn't about posting perfect work. It's about posting your work. It's a way to keep track. There is only a sense of accomplishment for making at least one new thing every day. As you create, you learn.

It's fine to ask for advice or critique. Please do not offer critique unless it is requested. Please use a link for Not Safe For Work (NSFW) images.

The only rule: post only what you have done today. Not yesterday or last month. Only today.


ps- for those who are shy. Don't compete with others. Compete with yourself. Do not be discouraged by others' success. Learn from them instead, and continue forward on your own path.

I'm sorry I haven't been

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. I've been doing private drawings or commissions I didn't want to leak until completed ... and then I just forgot to post the things that I could share. I'm sorry I didn't.
It's a real pleasure to look through all of your work. It makes me want to draw more.

Kaoori Smiling you're one of the least people I'd have expected to say that because we never ever cross paths. so wow haha, thanks.

This is funny. My art is really painfully completely obviously repetitive in every single way you look at it and yet some still manage to call it creative and tell me that I 'always try something new'.
Art lessons ((I feel so privileged for having art lessons)) do help me though because it forces me to hrz out of my comfort zone and make me concentrate for longer than 5 minutes.

Your art has a lot more

Your art has a lot more variation and experimentation than many other artists' work... including my own. Maybe you don't see it because it's too close to you. But it makes me want to go find watercolors and try different media, different subjects... etc
Maybe your work is 'expressive'? Impressionistic?
It makes me wish I'd taken more art classes and knew anything about different art styles and history.

I just read through this

I just read through this whole thing. This is an AMAZING idea, eyestrain. I guess I'll jump on board, though I can't promise something every day. :/ Not saying I don't draw every day; I just can't use the computer much.

Anyway, I guess I'll kick off May 31? These were drawn at 1 AM so it counts I hope.

Lovely work, and thank you. As long as you're drawing every day it's not so important to post. It's just inspirational to the rest of us to see.
The idea is borrowed from another forum I used to frequent so I can't take credit.

i have a confession... making

I never allow myself to feel

I never allow myself to feel happy about something inside my comfort zone. But I'm always unsatisfied with whatever I do outside of it too, so I never really end up happy with any of my work.

I was happy with my last watercolor piece because the subject was something familiar for me, and the colourfulness is something I do with my digital art too. I just took it in a different medium, which I have a little familiarity with, and the only thing that was different was that I did it out of my own motivation. Actually nothing I did was out of comfort zone, but it gave me the illusion of it.

I wish the both of you

I wish the both of you wouldn't be so hard on yourselves.

Sometimes I get bored and frustrated with what I'm most familiar with. But I allow myself to look at what I make from the eyes of my 'most beginning artist' self. I imagine I am that child trying to draw horses and dragons and from that perspective I can feel happy with certain things I've done.

I think it's corrosive to be content with one's work completely, or think "I am on top". But I think it's also corrosive to think "I am incapable of worthy things".
Please believe that what you're doing has merit, because each piece is a step down the road and a part of your life. If you feel truly frustrated or despondent with your work, try to change it. But please take pleasure in what you accomplish and do not feel you must hide or curb that feeling... isn't that your reward for continuing?

Please don't be afraid, Suzer. I didn't make this thread to be a competition or a way of showing off. I hope that having friends and companions who are all drawing will encourage you to draw, too. You don't have to share. But if you enjoy making art, please try to make even one small effort each day.

It doesn't have to be finished or good. Just something made by you.
