Rhys thought they were beyond this. Yet it seemed another collapse was inevitable. He glanced sideways over to where the child sat and slowly quirked a brow.

...although her son shines brighter...

Unraveling the Wirewood - Noelle's Story

Voices of the Past

Noelle awoke suddenly, her heart racing from seeing the burst of light from the Wirewood Tree. She looked around - she WAS in The Endless Forest, but there didn't seem to be anyone around. The forest was lit by the dusk sunlight, and little by little it was getting darker. Standing, she called out and listened for a response.

Nothing - the air was completely silent, even the usual sounds of birds and insects seemed to be absent.

She tilted her head, and then started to walk, looking around for a sign of anyone. She didn't really understand what had just happened, and with no one around to talk to, she felt more and more confused.

Noelle stopped and called out again. Her eyes caught a glimpse of something for a moment - she could have sworn she saw a young fawn dart past the trees in the distance. Curiously, she ran that way, calling a third time.

Stopping to catch her breath, she caught something in the corner of her eye. The old ruins were...glowing?

Looking, she confirmed this - small orbs of light floated around the place, all in different colors. Hesitantly, she approached the Ruins.

As she neared, a blue orb drifted toward her, and she heard the faintest sound, "...Noelle?"

That voice, it's..., her senses rose immediately, "Fay, is that you?", she asked.

The reply was hard to hear, but she got a little of the response, "...rrible happened, sister."

"What? What happened?", the doe questioned. Other orbs approached, seeming to be drawn by the presence of the living deer. The greater numbers helped Fay be able to speak clearer, "There was a mass extinction. We don't know how we all died, but...something terrible happened."

"How did she survive?", one of the violet orbs questioned.

"She must be the chosen one.", another answered.

"Fay, what's going on?", Noelle asked her sister's orb.

Whisper- No fear

"Shit" I whispered "Its one of those things ya gotta experences" Dr said. "Hehe"I laughed cooldly. "Ya know what im talking about"? he asked "Yeah man". "We're in to deep now to turn away". I joked "Sure are". "Whatch your self"I mumbeled as he almost triped on the cobbel stone walk way through the marshy forest. "It feels like the Devil's on our back"he whispered adrialen shakeing his words. Like normal. "Yeah" We rounded a willow to see our destination so I raised my head to seem a tiny bit taller. I was here to be his second voice in this game. The game DR was famous for. DR. It wasnt Doctor,it stood for Doubel R. Which stood for... Russian Rulet. His game of pride. A game where some one always died. See I aint never shot nobody but im know for fighting. When I fight im fast..but thats it fast, so I tend to just dodge and humiliat my enemy till they are eghusted. DR....he played this game instead. The small silver revolver sat on the ground as four deer and there second voices stood around. Second voices where in charge of keeping track of the time when there player died, cleaning up there blood, and burying the body. A large Buck with only one eye picked up the revolver and spun the barrel utter scilenec as peopl tryed to count the clicks. The clicks said how many barrels where inbettwen you and death. It was a big math thing, for peopl with smart minds. First count the barrels, then the clicks, then devide by barrels, finaly you have how many shots befor some one dies. DR was good at this cause he had an unuseually high IQ. The winners split the fortune of the loser, thats the prize. "Who will take the first shot"? asked the large back deer as DR slowly opened his eyes confidentaly. This wat it, it was the soldier and his gun, this is the story of us all. Fighting through bloody pride destroying games of chance just to live our dayliy lives. "I will" said a doe with litebrown fur and big brite eyes.

"Vilnius, stop messing around and get those papers for me"

The brunette looked up, his warm clover-flower-purple eyes set upon his 'teacher' for a moment, smiling softly from his place at the table.

Who are you..

This can't be true.
You can't be real.
H-how.. W-why..

Zero, don't be such an idiot.
You know I'm here, and you know it's true.
Don't you remember me this way?
You thought I was a good deer, didn't you.
You thought I was your lovely mother.

I have to tell you something "son".
I lied.

I am not you mother, and I never will be.
Your mother died right after you where born.

His eyes burned, a shivering through his hole body.

Why did you do this to me? Who are you?
You are supposed to be dead.. This can't be happening, please, tell me you're not real!

Zero, I am real, and I am here to tell you what I should've told you a long time ago.

I am your mothers sister.
When she died, she said to me I had to take care of you.
She didn't even asked me if I wanted to.

You were such a pain, Zero.
You never listened, and never did what I told you to do.
I called you Zero, because you are a Zero.

Why are you telling me this!
I don't want you to..
Please, go away..

His slowly lifted up his feet, and stepped back.

No, Zero. I'm not finished.
I want you to know how you ruined my life!

His eyes filled with tears, shivers through his body.

I - won't - let - you - do - this - to - me - again..

I won't...

He turned around, and ran, as fast as he could. He would not stop running until his feet can't carry him any further.

She is right, I am a Zero...

Ribcage.

So many of them, gone.

The Surgeon glanced up at the hearts that still beat within his tines, his own heart only just beginning to slow down once more, the green flesh pulsing and pumping like the wings of a trapped hummingbird.

Unraveling the Wirewood - Seed's Story

One Antler

Seed awoke from what seemed like a long nap. He stood and stretched his legs, taking a short walk to the Pond from where he had slept. Drinking from the water, he looked at the reflection, and tilted his head.

"What the...?", he questioned.

In the reflection, instead of having two antlers that grew away from his face, he had one antler that protruded forward. The antler was adorned by the purple flowers he normally wore, but it seemed very odd.

Seed could see the antler when he looked up - it was really there. One antler, right in the center of his head.

"Whoa!", he heard nearby. Turning, he saw a doe staring back at him, her eyes wide open. "You've got one antler, how did you get that?!", she asked immediately.

Seed didn't answer the doe - he was just as surprised himself. Without really thinking, he started to walk away, the doe tilting her head when she didn't get a response. Curiously, she began to follow him.

As Seed kept moving, others saw what he was - a unicorn stag. The lone antler was quite a surprise to them, all wondering about it and coming to a similar conclusion - the Twin Gods granted him with a gift. Seed, however, was thinking otherwise - the lone antler was causing a commotion, and he was getting much unwanted attention.

Several does were following him around, as if he was a source of immense beauty that they could not take their eyes off of. Fawns gasped and gawked at him, the little boys calling him names, while the little girls were envious of his lone antler. Stags nearby noticed the does following him, and immediately became infuriated that they had two antlers, and yet a stag with only one was drawing the does away from them.

It wasn't too long before the stags stood in his way. "You're pathetic!", they roared at him, "Why would the does want a stag with one antler?"

"I don't want any trouble.", Seed replied to them.
