"It was foolish of me to think I was of any use. Fighting against darkness and infection is one thing, and yes, I know I am important for protecting the Forest from Iugulare. But when it comes to fighting with antlers...with being normal...who am I kidding? I'm pathetic.
I thought a close friend was in danger today when really he was just having fun with another deer. I tried so hard to stop them from what I thought was a fight to the death, and when nothing seemed to work, I ran away. I'm no hero, I have no strength. I'm nothing but a coward with big stupid antlers that are useless on my head. It would have been better if Michael had given these antlers to someone else.
My only other alternative is to seek help...to seek out someone who would be willing to teach me how to be strong and brave. Maybe then I wouldn't be so afraid when I see other deer fighting. Maybe then the does might actually find me to be attractive...sigh...
I miss my Mazey...the only doe that has ever really loved me. And yet...I never did have to fight for her love..."
Before Toukan and Ourania, Quad hits his antlers on a tree until they snap off, the heavy antlers hitting the ground with a thud. He feels his head being lighter, and turning, he speaks to them:
"I want to learn how to fight, and not run away. This which is left will be enough to work with (I hope). See...I didn't deserve those antlers, they're for strong deer, and I'm nothing of the sort. That's why I want them to regrow...I want to earn them back. I want to prove to this Forest that I'm not a coward"
He spreads the word, asking anyone who would be willing to teach him what they know of fighting. He wants to learn from anyone and everyone, and eventually wants to adapt the lessons he's learned into his own fighting style.
Unfortunately, his antlers are only remnants of their former glory, but he can still practice with them (he currently has the beluga antlers on to represent his broken zombie antlers).
-----------------------------------
So what I'd like is one of the following from whoever feels up for it:
- Your deer interacting with Quad in-forest, teaching him their fighting technique
- Roleplay either on this blog or through MSN of your deer interacting with Quad
- A story about your deer teaching Quad how to fight
I'm happy with any of these really, but I suppose the RP would be most effective for me.
Quad's ultimate goal is to have a unique fighting style by the Rut. By that time his antlers should have grown back to what they were. He wants to learn
any kind of way of fighting, even if it's verbal instead of physical. Anything to help his confidence.
In addition, Quad really could use a
dietitian, because his eating habits are pretty bad. He would mostly need suggestions on healthier foods and amounts of food to eat at a time.
Would anyone like to help Quad in this endeavor? I'd really appreciate any response, interaction, or feedback.
Also please let me know what method you prefer from the choices above - teaching him in-game, doing a roleplay, or writing me a story.
-----------------------------------
Completed regiments:
Sianna
Taught Quad a great running attack. Her strategy is to run and find weaknesses in the opponent, hitting them in the side (rear + lower antlers attack), then running away. Quad had a difficult time keeping up with her at first due to his weight but eventually got a good rhythm and was able to perform the techniques she taught him. If he was able to lower his body mass, he could be very effective with this fighting style.
Leviathann
Taught Quad a strong technique for fighting (shock + taunt + rear). The strategy he learned from her was to be relentless but to be smart when attacking, and not to let his guard down. She gave him some pointers (see below in the comments), and with some more physical activity, he was able to strengthen his muscles. In addition, Quad watched an example fight from Leviathann and Crucio, and was able to see the techniques in action. She may continue to train with him.
Darkweaver
Gave Quad some experienced techniques, approving of the fighting styles he learned from Sianna and Leviathann. He stressed the importance of using momentum to his advantage, and also explains how Quad can use his weight to overpower his enemy as well as prevent himself from being pushed back. He gives Quad many tips (see below in the comments) including using a spell as a distraction during a fight.
Dag
Showed Quad how to 'flower spar' (putting flowers in your antlers while rearing/taunting/lowering antlers/bowing). He showed Quad that this is a fun and effective means of practicing how to fight with an opponent who is having just as much fun as you are. The technique shows to be relentless and to keep your guard up, but to laugh and be funny when you or the other deer makes a mistake. Quad accidentally let his guard down by turning, and Dag was able to strike the winning blow. A mistake he will learn from.
Later Quad watched as Dag and Ephire flower sparred as well, and was able to learn their techniques as well. He ultimately took from this that despite the violent nature of sparring, it really is for fun and for practice. Quad now understands the difference between sparring and fighting.
The Blue Stag
In his lessons he taught Quad the importance of endurance, balance, and focus. He trained Quad through the river, showing that distractions will be a factor during a fight, and that one wrong step or loss of focus will be fatal. Quad learned to watch his surroundings, to observe the movements of his opponent, and to never stop moving during a fight. Coupled with Sianna's lesson, Quad could be very effective with this knowledge.
Walter
Explained the importance of maneuvering around your opponent and attacking their sides (running + rear or running + lower antlers). He showed Quad a few other techniques such as head-on attacks (rear + lower antlers + taunt) and charging the opponent. He shows Quad that charging head on at them can instill fear and possibly make them run away. He stresses protecting from all sides and being vigilant against your opponent, keeping their antlers from hitting the sides and back. This has been stressed before by others, making it well known that your organs can get punctured by the opponent's antlers if you are careless. Walter stresses that Quad works on his reflexes and makes sure he understands that his opponent will not show mercy.
Spade
Stumbling upon his training regiment on a stump, Quad asks Spade to teach him
a powerful attack. Spade shows Quad that using his hind legs gives strength to the attack, and mentions the importance of running to build up the muscles in the legs. Quad attempts the attack but manages to hurt his head in the process, so he takes Spade's advice not to perform the attack until his legs are stronger and his antlers have grown out.
Wesker
Showed Quad some basic techniques, including an attack to the head (rear + scratch the ground). Wesker also helped Quad consider refining his own idea of utilizing defensive blocks followed by shoving the opponent back and attacking them when they're disoriented. Wesker explains a method Quad could use in performing this system of fighting (lower antlers, step forward, lower antlers, step forward, ect), and says he is admirable that he wants to have an honor system when fighting.
Amadahy
Explains the importance of knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and stresses to be determined and to never give in, especially in dire situations.
Queze
Gives Quad some lessons on technique, especially regarding protecting his sides, throat, and other vital areas during a fight. He explains how Quad can use his antlers to knock an opponent off their hooves, and possibly dislocate their limbs. In addition, Quad shows Queze his Grand Talux abilities, and asks if they can be used during a fight. Although Queze believes that no morals should ever affect surviving in a battle, he does explain the benefits of Quad's powers. Quad ultimately decides that he will use the Grand Talux abilities only in emergencies, or if he is outmatched.
Mr. Sanguine
In a particularly frightening encounter, Mr. Sanguine shows Quad the importance of instilling fear into the opponent.
"Things that show fear in the face of the enemy die faster." Mr. Sanguine explains how being cruel to the opponent's mind can make a fight easier. Being different and unexpected can win a fight.
Lastly, he says to be merciful to the opponent, and treat them as an equal if they were brave.
Kahlan
((
Roleplay going on here))
Ravenflight
((Roleplaying with me on this blog))
Pierce
Through training, Quad was able to develop a fighting technique he can use well. He has practiced with Pierce on how to block, shove an opponent back, and then hit them while they're recovering. In addition, Pierce showed Quad how anger can influence a fight, but warned him that it can be dangerous if misused or if he loses control.
Goddess
Taught Quad a skill called 'Warp-Sparring', which made him faster in his attacks. In addition, his muscles are stronger and he lost some weight during the training.
Nightmare
Showed Quad various techniques that can help in his attacks (Bow + Rear) (Bow + Rear + Nod) (Shock + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Nod + Lower Antlers), and taught Quad to be relentless in attacking. Also approved of his 'Spartan' style attack system, and pointed out that he could rear up and strike similarly to Spade's attack in addition.
Through various lessons, Nightmare taught Quad other things he needed to know, especially emphasizing targeting the opponent's legs, as well as targeting their throat, chest, or stomach when they rear up. Quad in return gave him some of the lessons he learned from the others before.
Auburn
Helped Quad with his diet. She stressed eating the various flowers in the Forest, as well as smashing pinecones up and eating the seeds only instead of the entire thing like Quad has been. She warned him against eating mushrooms (which has been a huge part of Quad's diet), and showed him the blueberries that he had never tried. Using this knowledge, Quad will try to change his eating habits, losing some of the weight he has packed on over the years.
Wesker may be able to help, I
Cool, just let me know what
Pffft. You don't need Wesker.
Quad actually would really
He's not so sure what Walter will think that he broke his antlers off though.
Everyone has to start
This will all be interesting
Heck even that would help
Well, in-game interactions
I think my Darkweaver would
Being a bull with rumploads of experience with fighting/standing his ground and all. |D
He'll be more than willing to share his experience with Quad. <3
Interesting. I'm more into
I'm more into in-forest and MSN RP nowadays. My main deer is not a stag(No idea if Quad would learn from anything but), actually she only bares the horns on her mask and antelope ones, although she has created an efficient fighting style that works best for her smaller form. She is plenty capable of still inflicting damage.
So, if you want to add Sianna up there you can.
She could be of help too,
I'll add her up there, he's happy for any kind of help whatsoever.
Scythe + everyone else I suppose - let me see how my schedule works out and I'll let you know what's best for me. I'll be doing some school work so I may be pressed on time. I'll let you know what's going on anyway.
I will definitely say that tomorrow will not be a good day to do anything unless it's late in the afternoon. I'm pretty booked tomorrow until maybe 7:00 PM CST or so.
If you see My deer and
So what im trying to say is have a reason for your fight, dont just fight for no reason, build up to it. But if you dont want to finght dont feel you have to. Quad s a freee deer and should never feel he has to follow the herd.
The Grand Taulixs plea did
Smiling and chuckling somewhat, the doe spoke with a coy nature, hinted with concern
"Oh old friend, I am no soldier or Veteran of war.
But I have been attacked, numerous times in my youth, I have had to defend myself, I have even be killed, for that I am sure you can remember.
There are always two sides of a leaf. Learning to fight and be full of strength is one thing."
The doe paused "But being quick, evasive and outwitting.....that is another side."
"Perhaps I could teach you a thing or too in such regard?"
Old scars on the does throat and sides ached. She spoke to herself silently "I will not let you be a victim either, friend."
Kahlan can offer to teach him
The Blue Stag would welcome
Sure! As Verdalas put it,
I'll see what I can come up
Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention I will likely be writing a short story for this. c:
Leviathann might be able to
She could give him some pointers, maybe train with him, and teach him how to 'improvise' in fights. c:
And if you'd really like, she could help him build up his physical strength.
I seriously doubt any of my
But still, I want to keep an eye on this ^-^
Edit: Although, I've just had a thought - Erza is kinda in the same position as Quad so they could always just run laps around the forest or something
Ryuu can teach Quad some of
In forest interaction would be cool for this I think.
If he ever finds Spade (who I
Toukan would offer, but...he runs mostly on instinct when his patience runs thin and adrenaline is pumping enough.
Wow, thank you all for the
Onyx - Quad wants to learn how to fight because, well...he wants to feel more normal. He sees so many stags fighting each other and has felt his self-confidence dwindling because he is not participating himself. One of the things he dreams of is being a normal deer, and thinks that being able to fight, he may win over a doe since he knows he isn't the prettiest stag in the Forest (heck, he's noticed that does really like battle scars, and he has none himself).
Anyway, he would love to learn from Mors and Wraith's deer. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for them in-forest. I'll need to note their pictograms for reference.
--------------------------------------
Ravenflight - Quad nods eagerly, "You are not the only one who has died...the Twin Gods gave me this curse of eternal life as long as Iugulare is running around. I, too, have felt the pains of death, and am at the point where I want to be able to defend myself against other deer...
If a doe came my way...another doe I mean...if she got killed because I couldn't protect her, I wouldn't be able to live with myself..."
He looks to her with steadfast eyes, "Thank you for this. You do not know how much it means to me."
--------------------------------------
Mick, PandaXiongMao, Terabetha, Selruil, Ooky, and Pega - thank you for the offers! Just let me know what you would like to do as far as interaction (unless you've already said what you are planning) and I'll do my best to have Quad active in-forest and updated on here. If you want to roleplay on-site, let me know where you'd prefer. We can do it here, on my updates page, or wherever you have in mind.
By the way, Quad's in the Forest as of right now. Not sure if anyone in particular would like to work with him tonight or not, but he's there anyway
Just posting to explain
"The more you move, the more active you are, the stronger your body will become.
If you want to get stronger, the first thing we need to work on is body strength. To be able to use those big
antlers you were gifted, you're going to have to build up muscle! Moving quickly, stretching, and dancing can
help. If you really want to, I can take you to some boulders and we can practice rolling them to help define
the necks muscles. Don't want you to hurt your neck when you're swinging those big antlers, eh?
Now, another thing to remember is that, while rearing, you leave your stomach open to attacks. Learn
to block with your hooves if possible. Or your chest. You're large enough that a hit to the chest won't
knock you down too much. But be careful, too high on the neck and your windpipe could be struck. So
we'll have to build some chest muscle as well. While I figured that out, keep practicing. Blocking is
nearly as important as hitting. Save yourself some damage, and strike back when they're open."
Thank you both to Sianna and
Selruil, I'd like Quad to have some more training from you, but I need to take him over to someone else who wanted to work with him tonight (Zergarikiaka's Darkweaver is waiting for him). We'll definitely do your boulder training idea another day if that's okay.
Thanks again you two!
Fitting music Quad:
Quad: *nervously* "hello Darkweaver"
Dark: Hnn... Hello Quad...
Quad: "I'm looking for help on how to fight, and was pointed in your direction. if you're not too busy, would you mind showing me your fighting skills?"
Dark: *nods slowly.* That would... be no.. problem.
zerg: (I think Dark first will want to see where Quad is at as it is, skill wise.)
quad: (okay Sianna's technique involves a lot of running)
Dark: Hnn... those are essential... manuvers... to avoid... getting hit. *seems to approve
quad: (okay then Levi's technique involves being relentless but not giving away too many weak points)
Dark: You should... be sure... to not let... a faster or... larger foe.. run behind you...as a... tip.
Dark: And if you can... turn quickly when.. they are behind you... you can...use their... momentum and weight... against them and let... them pass ahead.
Dark: When your... antlers regrow... you can also... use them to... strike sides when...your oppnent... starts to pass you. *wheezes slightly from speaking.*
Quad: Got it. So it is like jabbing out at them?
Dark: *nods.* That is... correct.
Quad: I see. I never considered that, I've always seen deer fighting directly, so I didn't even know they may try to attack the sides or from behind
Quad: The others who just taught me spoke of running. But I'm having a difficult time with this since I've...well...gotten so heavyset. do you have any suggestions on how i can use this to my advantage? or will I need to lose the weight no matter what?
ooky: (since quad is short /and/ heavy, he probably has a nice center of gravity and can hold his position when being pressured from above)
quad: (that's true)
Dark: *Heavy himself, so...* Hnn... you could use your... weight to over...power larger...antlers.. by stomping.. on or... locking with...the other's... antlers.
Dark: And by... using weight and... digging your hooves... into the dirt... you could be..very difficult... to push back... and can... push others... away.
Quad: *nods* interesting...again something i never even considered. you truly are a skilled and wise fighter Dark
Zerg: (oh, here's something for any fighter... pelt distraction. <3)
Zerg: Reference of Dark's fighting style
One other thing Quad will
Quad's situation, quite simply, is that when he sees food, he eats it. When he has cravings, he eats. And generally it's the most unhealthy and fattening food available, he isn't picky whatsoever.
The good thing is if someone can convince him to eat less, there would definitely be more food in the Forest for others. He is a known glutton, and has hoarded food before.
Quad not need diet, nor need
Somethings cant be improved upon
Hey Quad, if you don't mind
Onyx - He'll still have many
Terabetha - Not a problem at all! We can RP here, on my updates page, or wherever you have in mind.
You could rp out Kahlan's
I went ahead and made a new
You want to learn to fight,
I wish to help you, I wish to teach you how to fight. Pierce said. And this time, he would teach Quad not to be so stupid as he was.
BlueDeerLegend18 - Quad
Quad nodded his head. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be a better fighter, though...that style of fighting you speak of...what do you mean that it is 'deadly, not to others but to you and your mental health'? I will admit, that scares me a little just thinking about what that means.", he speaks, but then he shakes his head, "No, I won't be afraid of this. I need to be brave here. Please...I'm happy to learn anything you have to offer, no matter the costs."
Interesting... If you want, I
If you want, I think Foxbrow can teach him her secret move 'Jolly roll'. But she might be a little mean, so I think Quad would have to offer her something in advance.
On the other hand, I doubt Silun would be any use for this for he actually never won a single of that very few fights he ever got involved in. But if Quad would go and visit him at the Ruins, he can share some of his totally useless philosophical 'wise' words about fighting.
Quad would be happy to learn
Any idea what Foxbrow would like that Quad could offer? He's exceptionally talented at finding food, and being...nice and friendly? Uhh...I'm not sure XD

I don't know what exactly
Anyway, I just wanted to make this note here before I leave, for I'll be away for a few days now. So, keep practicing with others meanwhile. Good luck.
You shouldn't be afraid,
My other style of fighting is to defend. There are two types of fighting- Defending and attacking. Defending is not exactly trying to hurt the other deer, it's trying to make sure you don't get hurt. Although it is very common for the other deer to get hurt. Pierce paused, and got into a stance in which he lowered the antlers. You must learn to lower your antlers whenever you see or hear someone charging at you. And you must learn to do it by instinct. This way when the deer charges, he or she will be blocked.
Quad nods here. "I can
He repeats what Pierce says, "Lower my antlers when someone is charging, and do it by instinct so they will be blocked..."
Pierce laughed. Aha, yes,
Pierce suddenly charged at Quad. Think fast!
Quad was quick to react, and
"You've got the skills, you
Make sure you keep it up and when we face one another in the Rut this year I'll have an even match in you."
--
I think it's pretty much guaranteed Walter is going to expect to face-off against Quad in the rut this year. No hiding behind the Walterwoman!
Quad smiles in delight that
Quad's in the forest right
I am also on MSN right now if you'd like to do roleplay that way -
One more thing -
I think this fits Quad's quest
"Know your own strengths and
I used to think that
I used to think that blackbuck antlers weren't that scary compared to deer/elk/moose antlers, but after what Quad learned about slender antlers being able to pass through the ribcage and puncture internal organs.....this fight really makes me cringe now.
These two are fighting over the title of "The Whitest Tummy in the Land" anyway...
I was watching, and then I
Goddess and SkyDancer are
SkyDancer: "Once, I saw a deer almost crush a smaller deer, and i broke his spine by flying(rearing for you deer without wings) and smashing on top of him as hard as i could."
Goddess: i dip my peacock feathers in sleeping potion every day so if that happens to me i can just put the deer to sleep. otherwise i bite them. XD
If u ever see them in the forest, put your antlers down and paw the grassso they know it is you and you can take some lessons.
Goddess: beluga pelt carnival mask and antelope antlers
SkyDancer: starry pelt, real deer mask, and orca antlers
If you want to no more about sky look at her bio
