"It was foolish of me to think I was of any use. Fighting against darkness and infection is one thing, and yes, I know I am important for protecting the Forest from Iugulare. But when it comes to fighting with antlers...with being normal...who am I kidding? I'm pathetic.
I thought a close friend was in danger today when really he was just having fun with another deer. I tried so hard to stop them from what I thought was a fight to the death, and when nothing seemed to work, I ran away. I'm no hero, I have no strength. I'm nothing but a coward with big stupid antlers that are useless on my head. It would have been better if Michael had given these antlers to someone else.
My only other alternative is to seek help...to seek out someone who would be willing to teach me how to be strong and brave. Maybe then I wouldn't be so afraid when I see other deer fighting. Maybe then the does might actually find me to be attractive...sigh...
I miss my Mazey...the only doe that has ever really loved me. And yet...I never did have to fight for her love..."
Before Toukan and Ourania, Quad hits his antlers on a tree until they snap off, the heavy antlers hitting the ground with a thud. He feels his head being lighter, and turning, he speaks to them:
"I want to learn how to fight, and not run away. This which is left will be enough to work with (I hope). See...I didn't deserve those antlers, they're for strong deer, and I'm nothing of the sort. That's why I want them to regrow...I want to earn them back. I want to prove to this Forest that I'm not a coward"
He spreads the word, asking anyone who would be willing to teach him what they know of fighting. He wants to learn from anyone and everyone, and eventually wants to adapt the lessons he's learned into his own fighting style.
Unfortunately, his antlers are only remnants of their former glory, but he can still practice with them (he currently has the beluga antlers on to represent his broken zombie antlers).
-----------------------------------
So what I'd like is one of the following from whoever feels up for it:
- Your deer interacting with Quad in-forest, teaching him their fighting technique
- Roleplay either on this blog or through MSN of your deer interacting with Quad
- A story about your deer teaching Quad how to fight
I'm happy with any of these really, but I suppose the RP would be most effective for me.
Quad's ultimate goal is to have a unique fighting style by the Rut. By that time his antlers should have grown back to what they were. He wants to learn
any kind of way of fighting, even if it's verbal instead of physical. Anything to help his confidence.
In addition, Quad really could use a
dietitian, because his eating habits are pretty bad. He would mostly need suggestions on healthier foods and amounts of food to eat at a time.
Would anyone like to help Quad in this endeavor? I'd really appreciate any response, interaction, or feedback.
Also please let me know what method you prefer from the choices above - teaching him in-game, doing a roleplay, or writing me a story.
-----------------------------------
Completed regiments:
Sianna
Taught Quad a great running attack. Her strategy is to run and find weaknesses in the opponent, hitting them in the side (rear + lower antlers attack), then running away. Quad had a difficult time keeping up with her at first due to his weight but eventually got a good rhythm and was able to perform the techniques she taught him. If he was able to lower his body mass, he could be very effective with this fighting style.
Leviathann
Taught Quad a strong technique for fighting (shock + taunt + rear). The strategy he learned from her was to be relentless but to be smart when attacking, and not to let his guard down. She gave him some pointers (see below in the comments), and with some more physical activity, he was able to strengthen his muscles. In addition, Quad watched an example fight from Leviathann and Crucio, and was able to see the techniques in action. She may continue to train with him.
Darkweaver
Gave Quad some experienced techniques, approving of the fighting styles he learned from Sianna and Leviathann. He stressed the importance of using momentum to his advantage, and also explains how Quad can use his weight to overpower his enemy as well as prevent himself from being pushed back. He gives Quad many tips (see below in the comments) including using a spell as a distraction during a fight.
Dag
Showed Quad how to 'flower spar' (putting flowers in your antlers while rearing/taunting/lowering antlers/bowing). He showed Quad that this is a fun and effective means of practicing how to fight with an opponent who is having just as much fun as you are. The technique shows to be relentless and to keep your guard up, but to laugh and be funny when you or the other deer makes a mistake. Quad accidentally let his guard down by turning, and Dag was able to strike the winning blow. A mistake he will learn from.
Later Quad watched as Dag and Ephire flower sparred as well, and was able to learn their techniques as well. He ultimately took from this that despite the violent nature of sparring, it really is for fun and for practice. Quad now understands the difference between sparring and fighting.
The Blue Stag
In his lessons he taught Quad the importance of endurance, balance, and focus. He trained Quad through the river, showing that distractions will be a factor during a fight, and that one wrong step or loss of focus will be fatal. Quad learned to watch his surroundings, to observe the movements of his opponent, and to never stop moving during a fight. Coupled with Sianna's lesson, Quad could be very effective with this knowledge.
Walter
Explained the importance of maneuvering around your opponent and attacking their sides (running + rear or running + lower antlers). He showed Quad a few other techniques such as head-on attacks (rear + lower antlers + taunt) and charging the opponent. He shows Quad that charging head on at them can instill fear and possibly make them run away. He stresses protecting from all sides and being vigilant against your opponent, keeping their antlers from hitting the sides and back. This has been stressed before by others, making it well known that your organs can get punctured by the opponent's antlers if you are careless. Walter stresses that Quad works on his reflexes and makes sure he understands that his opponent will not show mercy.
Spade
Stumbling upon his training regiment on a stump, Quad asks Spade to teach him
a powerful attack. Spade shows Quad that using his hind legs gives strength to the attack, and mentions the importance of running to build up the muscles in the legs. Quad attempts the attack but manages to hurt his head in the process, so he takes Spade's advice not to perform the attack until his legs are stronger and his antlers have grown out.
Wesker
Showed Quad some basic techniques, including an attack to the head (rear + scratch the ground). Wesker also helped Quad consider refining his own idea of utilizing defensive blocks followed by shoving the opponent back and attacking them when they're disoriented. Wesker explains a method Quad could use in performing this system of fighting (lower antlers, step forward, lower antlers, step forward, ect), and says he is admirable that he wants to have an honor system when fighting.
Amadahy
Explains the importance of knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and stresses to be determined and to never give in, especially in dire situations.
Queze
Gives Quad some lessons on technique, especially regarding protecting his sides, throat, and other vital areas during a fight. He explains how Quad can use his antlers to knock an opponent off their hooves, and possibly dislocate their limbs. In addition, Quad shows Queze his Grand Talux abilities, and asks if they can be used during a fight. Although Queze believes that no morals should ever affect surviving in a battle, he does explain the benefits of Quad's powers. Quad ultimately decides that he will use the Grand Talux abilities only in emergencies, or if he is outmatched.
Mr. Sanguine
In a particularly frightening encounter, Mr. Sanguine shows Quad the importance of instilling fear into the opponent.
"Things that show fear in the face of the enemy die faster." Mr. Sanguine explains how being cruel to the opponent's mind can make a fight easier. Being different and unexpected can win a fight.
Lastly, he says to be merciful to the opponent, and treat them as an equal if they were brave.
Kahlan
((
Roleplay going on here))
Ravenflight
((Roleplaying with me on this blog))
Pierce
Through training, Quad was able to develop a fighting technique he can use well. He has practiced with Pierce on how to block, shove an opponent back, and then hit them while they're recovering. In addition, Pierce showed Quad how anger can influence a fight, but warned him that it can be dangerous if misused or if he loses control.
Goddess
Taught Quad a skill called 'Warp-Sparring', which made him faster in his attacks. In addition, his muscles are stronger and he lost some weight during the training.
Nightmare
Showed Quad various techniques that can help in his attacks (Bow + Rear) (Bow + Rear + Nod) (Shock + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Nod + Lower Antlers), and taught Quad to be relentless in attacking. Also approved of his 'Spartan' style attack system, and pointed out that he could rear up and strike similarly to Spade's attack in addition.
Through various lessons, Nightmare taught Quad other things he needed to know, especially emphasizing targeting the opponent's legs, as well as targeting their throat, chest, or stomach when they rear up. Quad in return gave him some of the lessons he learned from the others before.
Auburn
Helped Quad with his diet. She stressed eating the various flowers in the Forest, as well as smashing pinecones up and eating the seeds only instead of the entire thing like Quad has been. She warned him against eating mushrooms (which has been a huge part of Quad's diet), and showed him the blueberries that he had never tried. Using this knowledge, Quad will try to change his eating habits, losing some of the weight he has packed on over the years.
Grave - I didn't know if you
So essentially (lower antlers, rear, step forward) is his tactic, but he's never really gotten to try it out on an opponent. So I'm not sure how eager anyone would really be to 'step back' during a fight XD
Bayleen -
Quad makes a face. "No mushrooms at all? I practically live off of mushrooms. Oh geez, no wonder I'm so fat...", he sighs, "I'll try to eat these other things instead of them, but I don't know if I'll be able to keep my cravings in balance. Usually if I see one, I absolutely have to eat it."
He listens to her other advice about exercising. He nods slowly, "My weight has been getting better since so many other deer have gotten me to exercise with them. I'll keep your advice in mind, start slow and then build up when I'm ready."
He then nods again, "A treat, you say?", his eyes widen with interest.
Nightmare might adapt some of
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The doe gave an understanding
She trotted a few yards forward and then looked back at him. "Are you ready for the surprise? I'll bet you already know what it is...but oh well!"
Bayleen - Quad nods,
Quad nods, somewhat sadly though. The mushrooms have been a major part of his diet, and quitting eating them suddenly would seem to be a difficult task for him. He will try his best, though...
"Actually, I don't know what surprise you have for me. I'm pretty excited.", he says truthfully.
"Really? Yay! Then follow
She started moving in the southward direction from the Crying Idol. Their destination wasn't far at all. The dark green, mossy forest floor quickly turned to the copper, golden colored ground of the birch forest. There were soon wheat-like grasses that grew to their knees.
Then she stopped in front of a large scoop in the terrain. It was a very large, circle where humongous birch trees lined around it. She cheerfully hopped through, and a poof of air bursted beneath her causing her to elavate up a little bit and hover in the air a few moments longer, as if in slow motion; her levitation power. Then she stood in front of the blueberries that were planted before them. It was such a small portion of the forest, yet it seemed to go on forever.
"Blueberries," she said with a dreamy sigh. "They're healthy and tasty...and squishy. The absolute best desert in the entire forest!"
Bayleen - The blackbuck
The blackbuck approached this place happily. He rarely came here, so seeing so many beautiful berries ready to be eaten was a treat for him. He tried one, and while chewing his eyes closed and his face made a look of ecstasy, as if he were deep in meditation. Swallowing it, his eyes opened, and he turned to her. "I've always been so cautious to eat these...now I see what I am missing. They are divine!", he speaks, an antelope seemingly tamed and enlightened by one blueberry.
He approaches and bows to her, "You really have taught me many valuable lessons today. I have something I'd like to give you in return.", he speaks, and as he does so, his back seems to burst out into four great wings ((Quad has a gift from the Twin Gods were he has four wings that can grow and retract when he needs them. He has other powers and things that go with it, but he rarely uses them unless the Forest is in danger from his nemesis, Iugulare)).
Turning, he reaches one of the wings out to her. "Please, take one of the long feathers from my wing. It won't hurt me, don't worry.", he offers, the wing is a beautiful white color much like that of a dove's wing.
"Wow..." she murmured in awe
Gently, she plucked one of the feathers from his wings, her eyes glancing at his face to see if it hurt or not. Holding the feather in her mouth, she stretched up her neck as high as it could go and nuzzled the bottom of his neck, since that's the highest she could reach. "Thank you Quad. You're wings are beautiful. I'm glad I could help you and if you ever need anything else, feel free to visit me at the Oak Tree."
Then she placed the feather on the ground in front of her hooves and looked at it curiously. She wasn't quite sure where she would keep it or how...But then an idea hatched in her head. She rubbed her head on the feather. When she looked up at Quad, the white feather was embedded in the center of her forehead and it stuck out from her head. It looked odd and interesting...
"How does it look?" she asked jokingly as she flaunted it about in a goofy prance. Then she bursted with laughter, making fun of herself. Everyone has to laugh at themselves sometimes.
His wings vanished back into
The doe chuckled and nodded.
Her ear flicks. "Oh...I must be getting back to the Oak now. The flowers- they need tending to." She trotted past him.
Then she stopped and slightly looked back at him. Her voice seemed a bit sad. "I'm often lonely in the forest. Not many people come to the Oak as their used to. Please, feel free to visit. I-I-I mean...ya know... flowers would like it."
He nods, "It's becoming my
/the end ♥ That was
That was tons of fun! : D
((Sorry for such delay, once
It is now the doe, who tilts her head. "Oh... And I thought it would be you, who would tell me why are we here."
But quickly she hides her own confusion and sits down again, her slender body right beside his one, laying her head on his shoulders.
There she was, listening to the typical silence of the forest, silence full of quiet sounds, watching the colorful scene of the dancing shadows cast by leaves high in trees and feeling the blackbuck's chest, its warmth and heartbeat, which starts to be faster, irregular from his anxiety for answers. Therefore, just a second before he opened his mouth to speak, she says: "I'm the One." she lifts her head up to his ear and whispers in it: "And you know me, yes of course. I am the one you desire most for. And still..." she leans head now for his other ear "... I don't have a name yet." she pauses a little, "Or do I?"
It was really hard to say, if the last was meant just like a taunt or if it was a real question.
The doe smiled and stood
The doe paused and appeared on his opposite side. "And one moment you are there.
This does not always work for full blown battles. But if you want to tire your oponent, this is always a good option."
The doe ran around a tree nearby, rearing and pawing it before leaping o the other side.
"Of course, this is just a tree. Imagine if he were a stag. Stags with big antlers move slow. Running around, making quick attacks and moving again is a sure way to victory."
She stood back. she was never a good teacher, and she did not expect her words to make much sense.
"Next time you are in forest, I would much like to test your skills. We can further them there, my brother."
PLK217 - Quad was confused
Quad was confused enough already. But he didn't dwell too much on her words. "Hmm...I'm curious, did you learn that I was looking for teachers to show me how to fight? This place, though beautiful as it is...I feel a danger here...", he speaks, and as he does, his ears perk.
The tall grass seems to rustle, as if they were being stalked...
Ravenflight -
"I appreciate the lesson, but...", Quad spoke, lowering his head, "My antlers, they're going to be big when it gets to that point. And due to my eating habits, I've become slow and sluggish. Running isn't my strong point...", he sighs here.
"But I'll try my best to keep moving. The technique I have been working on is to block, shove my opponent back, and try to strike them while they've lost their footing. Maybe instead of attacking head-on, I could run around and try to catch them on their sides...", his face brightened. It was worth a try.
The mysterious doe stayed
Suddenly she rolls over her back and set her eyes up to the sky. The Sun, glittering through the leaves made her smile again, not minding all the birds sitting on the branches above and staring silently at them. Just as if it is something absolutely ordinary.
Why is she still smiling?
She turns her head to the tall grass and then back to him and asks: "Why do you want to fight? I know of no threat here."
PLK217 - Quad sighs here.
Quad sighs here. "Well...I want to be able to protect people. My friends, my family, loved ones...and before whenever I saw angry deer locking their antlers together, I ran away in terror. I need to be strong to protect those I care for. So that's why I want to learn how to fight.", he explained it the best way he could.
Close by, the grass rustled again. Quad's heart raced even more, he was ready to run but kept his composure, his eyes locked on the very spot that was startling him.
She sighs too. Or is that a
Rolling back onto her hooves she continues: "And what about me?" she stands up and moves her head down, right next to his. "Am I your friend? Your loved one? Will you protect me?"
"For I still don't see any danger around." she speaks, peering her eyes at the rustling spot in the tall grass.
It looks like some of the straws withers there.
? If this is still going
♥ If this is still going on...I would create a role-play blog for us. c: I would like to try and make it a rather strange one, though; any ideas (if you accept)?
PLK217 - "Umm...yeah
"Umm...yeah sure...I suppose you are my friend. Heh...", he says, though still shaking and nervous. "I don't want to walk into death from curiosity...but...the grass over there..."
He only wants to protect her...but he is afraid himself. Should he approach the grass? Should he trust the calmness of doe?
010 -
I'm kind of still doing this but Quad's got plenty of fighting experience already. So I guess it really depends on what you had in mind. But yeah if you'd like to role play, I'm up for it.
"Then let's ..." but the rest
" K a h r ! "
Whole flock of birds came down of the branches and all were croaking. Circling around them in the air, they starts to attack the balckbuck's face with their wings. It was practically impossible for him to notice how everything around starts to wither too, for all he could see was just an endless rain of feathers.
I thought that 0 could try to
I thought that 0 could try to teach Quad how to "connect," "disconnect," and "reconnect" with various things--first to a plant, then to an animal, then to the entire forest; finally he would try it on 0 in a fake battle.
Has he done something like this yet? "Connecting," as I mean it, is like prediction of the mind, an infection of the body, or possession of the soul. I do not know how far Quad will be able to get with this.
Do you like the idea?
