"It was foolish of me to think I was of any use. Fighting against darkness and infection is one thing, and yes, I know I am important for protecting the Forest from Iugulare. But when it comes to fighting with antlers...with being normal...who am I kidding? I'm pathetic.
I thought a close friend was in danger today when really he was just having fun with another deer. I tried so hard to stop them from what I thought was a fight to the death, and when nothing seemed to work, I ran away. I'm no hero, I have no strength. I'm nothing but a coward with big stupid antlers that are useless on my head. It would have been better if Michael had given these antlers to someone else.
My only other alternative is to seek help...to seek out someone who would be willing to teach me how to be strong and brave. Maybe then I wouldn't be so afraid when I see other deer fighting. Maybe then the does might actually find me to be attractive...sigh...
I miss my Mazey...the only doe that has ever really loved me. And yet...I never did have to fight for her love..."
Before Toukan and Ourania, Quad hits his antlers on a tree until they snap off, the heavy antlers hitting the ground with a thud. He feels his head being lighter, and turning, he speaks to them:
"I want to learn how to fight, and not run away. This which is left will be enough to work with (I hope). See...I didn't deserve those antlers, they're for strong deer, and I'm nothing of the sort. That's why I want them to regrow...I want to earn them back. I want to prove to this Forest that I'm not a coward"
He spreads the word, asking anyone who would be willing to teach him what they know of fighting. He wants to learn from anyone and everyone, and eventually wants to adapt the lessons he's learned into his own fighting style.
Unfortunately, his antlers are only remnants of their former glory, but he can still practice with them (he currently has the beluga antlers on to represent his broken zombie antlers).
-----------------------------------
So what I'd like is one of the following from whoever feels up for it:
- Your deer interacting with Quad in-forest, teaching him their fighting technique
- Roleplay either on this blog or through MSN of your deer interacting with Quad
- A story about your deer teaching Quad how to fight
I'm happy with any of these really, but I suppose the RP would be most effective for me.
Quad's ultimate goal is to have a unique fighting style by the Rut. By that time his antlers should have grown back to what they were. He wants to learn
any kind of way of fighting, even if it's verbal instead of physical. Anything to help his confidence.
In addition, Quad really could use a
dietitian, because his eating habits are pretty bad. He would mostly need suggestions on healthier foods and amounts of food to eat at a time.
Would anyone like to help Quad in this endeavor? I'd really appreciate any response, interaction, or feedback.
Also please let me know what method you prefer from the choices above - teaching him in-game, doing a roleplay, or writing me a story.
-----------------------------------
Completed regiments:
Sianna
Taught Quad a great running attack. Her strategy is to run and find weaknesses in the opponent, hitting them in the side (rear + lower antlers attack), then running away. Quad had a difficult time keeping up with her at first due to his weight but eventually got a good rhythm and was able to perform the techniques she taught him. If he was able to lower his body mass, he could be very effective with this fighting style.
Leviathann
Taught Quad a strong technique for fighting (shock + taunt + rear). The strategy he learned from her was to be relentless but to be smart when attacking, and not to let his guard down. She gave him some pointers (see below in the comments), and with some more physical activity, he was able to strengthen his muscles. In addition, Quad watched an example fight from Leviathann and Crucio, and was able to see the techniques in action. She may continue to train with him.
Darkweaver
Gave Quad some experienced techniques, approving of the fighting styles he learned from Sianna and Leviathann. He stressed the importance of using momentum to his advantage, and also explains how Quad can use his weight to overpower his enemy as well as prevent himself from being pushed back. He gives Quad many tips (see below in the comments) including using a spell as a distraction during a fight.
Dag
Showed Quad how to 'flower spar' (putting flowers in your antlers while rearing/taunting/lowering antlers/bowing). He showed Quad that this is a fun and effective means of practicing how to fight with an opponent who is having just as much fun as you are. The technique shows to be relentless and to keep your guard up, but to laugh and be funny when you or the other deer makes a mistake. Quad accidentally let his guard down by turning, and Dag was able to strike the winning blow. A mistake he will learn from.
Later Quad watched as Dag and Ephire flower sparred as well, and was able to learn their techniques as well. He ultimately took from this that despite the violent nature of sparring, it really is for fun and for practice. Quad now understands the difference between sparring and fighting.
The Blue Stag
In his lessons he taught Quad the importance of endurance, balance, and focus. He trained Quad through the river, showing that distractions will be a factor during a fight, and that one wrong step or loss of focus will be fatal. Quad learned to watch his surroundings, to observe the movements of his opponent, and to never stop moving during a fight. Coupled with Sianna's lesson, Quad could be very effective with this knowledge.
Walter
Explained the importance of maneuvering around your opponent and attacking their sides (running + rear or running + lower antlers). He showed Quad a few other techniques such as head-on attacks (rear + lower antlers + taunt) and charging the opponent. He shows Quad that charging head on at them can instill fear and possibly make them run away. He stresses protecting from all sides and being vigilant against your opponent, keeping their antlers from hitting the sides and back. This has been stressed before by others, making it well known that your organs can get punctured by the opponent's antlers if you are careless. Walter stresses that Quad works on his reflexes and makes sure he understands that his opponent will not show mercy.
Spade
Stumbling upon his training regiment on a stump, Quad asks Spade to teach him
a powerful attack. Spade shows Quad that using his hind legs gives strength to the attack, and mentions the importance of running to build up the muscles in the legs. Quad attempts the attack but manages to hurt his head in the process, so he takes Spade's advice not to perform the attack until his legs are stronger and his antlers have grown out.
Wesker
Showed Quad some basic techniques, including an attack to the head (rear + scratch the ground). Wesker also helped Quad consider refining his own idea of utilizing defensive blocks followed by shoving the opponent back and attacking them when they're disoriented. Wesker explains a method Quad could use in performing this system of fighting (lower antlers, step forward, lower antlers, step forward, ect), and says he is admirable that he wants to have an honor system when fighting.
Amadahy
Explains the importance of knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and stresses to be determined and to never give in, especially in dire situations.
Queze
Gives Quad some lessons on technique, especially regarding protecting his sides, throat, and other vital areas during a fight. He explains how Quad can use his antlers to knock an opponent off their hooves, and possibly dislocate their limbs. In addition, Quad shows Queze his Grand Talux abilities, and asks if they can be used during a fight. Although Queze believes that no morals should ever affect surviving in a battle, he does explain the benefits of Quad's powers. Quad ultimately decides that he will use the Grand Talux abilities only in emergencies, or if he is outmatched.
Mr. Sanguine
In a particularly frightening encounter, Mr. Sanguine shows Quad the importance of instilling fear into the opponent.
"Things that show fear in the face of the enemy die faster." Mr. Sanguine explains how being cruel to the opponent's mind can make a fight easier. Being different and unexpected can win a fight.
Lastly, he says to be merciful to the opponent, and treat them as an equal if they were brave.

Pierce
Through training, Quad was able to develop a fighting technique he can use well. He has practiced with Pierce on how to block, shove an opponent back, and then hit them while they're recovering. In addition, Pierce showed Quad how anger can influence a fight, but warned him that it can be dangerous if misused or if he loses control.
Goddess
Taught Quad a skill called 'Warp-Sparring', which made him faster in his attacks. In addition, his muscles are stronger and he lost some weight during the training.
Nightmare
Showed Quad various techniques that can help in his attacks (Bow + Rear) (Bow + Rear + Nod) (Shock + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Lower Antlers) (Bow + Rear + Nod + Lower Antlers), and taught Quad to be relentless in attacking. Also approved of his 'Spartan' style attack system, and pointed out that he could rear up and strike similarly to Spade's attack in addition.
Through various lessons, Nightmare taught Quad other things he needed to know, especially emphasizing targeting the opponent's legs, as well as targeting their throat, chest, or stomach when they rear up. Quad in return gave him some of the lessons he learned from the others before.
Auburn
Helped Quad with his diet. She stressed eating the various flowers in the Forest, as well as smashing pinecones up and eating the seeds only instead of the entire thing like Quad has been. She warned him against eating mushrooms (which has been a huge part of Quad's diet), and showed him the blueberries that he had never tried. Using this knowledge, Quad will try to change his eating habits, losing some of the weight he has packed on over the years.

Open your eyes, Quad! Open your eyes!!, he shouted in his mind. He forced his eyes open, and there was Pierce's face and antlers already locked, pressing on him. The blackbuck was being forced back, his hooves digging backwards into the dirt.
"Raaaaaarrrgghhh!!", he cried out, and with one movement, he was able to break the hold, forcing Pierce's head upward to where he nearly lost his footing. The moment to strike was seemingly perfect, and Quad could have dug his antlers into Pierce's body.
But he held back, and the other deer stumbled backward, regaining his footing. Quad gasped for air, and then lifted his head up.
"That's it...that's exactly how I want to fight...", he said, in a relieved manner.
Seed - Of course! Just let me know how you'd like to do this, I'm happy with any way.
Lacie might be able to help.
I'm thinking either an RP or a story...most likely an story though, since I'm not entirely in an RP mood. Though if I write one, and Quad wants to respond and go from there, that's totally fine.
I never really considered
If you decide to write the story, he can already be in his wolf form. You don't have to write in him transforming. Thanks!
How about an MSN RP, then?
Pierce tumbled back. I am
Very good.
Pierce then sighed, about to show him the most deadly way of fighting.
Here's another style of fighting I use, but I'm not sure if it will work with others. It'll probably be much harder for you. Pierce explained.
You will have to be careful when using this style of fighting. Very careful. And I mean it. See this scar? Pierce reared, to show Quad the mark. You can end up with this if you act stupid with this style of fighting. Are you ready?
Seed - Sure, just let me know

Quad nods. "I'm ready.", he says, and watches intently.

Have you ever gotten so angry
Think of your anger and all of the emotions as a river. When the river flows smoothly, so does your anger. It allows you to attack stealthy and very effectively. But sometimes, you will be so angry that you just use it all at once. When this happens, the river is flowing faster, and huge waves are crashing on the shore. You act like your careless, and you attack almost as if you think you are invincible. You may even attack loved ones. It may be effective but it will hurt you. You are so angry that you just give in to yourself... and hurt yourself... and the river carves a deep canyon. The canyon wouldn't necessarily be a scar, but it may give you shame, guilt, bad reputation, and it gets far worse from there.
I thought I had the power to use this, but I was stupid and ended up attempting suicide from using my anger all at once. My canyon is the scar on my belly, and also seeing my loved ones hurt. Understand, that if you wish to fight with anger, don't be stupid.
Quad reflected on the words.
At this moment, his body glistened, his Grand Talux powers made his fur seem to radiate light. It wasn't as strong as his light bursts, but still...the very thought of Zephyr or anyone he held dear being hurt sparked a fiery passion within him that was very well seen on the outside.
The light subsided, and he opened his eyes again. "I understand your words. If this ever happens...I will do my best to stay focused rather than fall apart."
Though that may be impossible given the circumstances...if anyone were to...no, I don't even want to consider it. I won't allow anything to happen to Zephyr..., his mind raced, he shook his head.
if you want Goddess can teach

See, everyone gets angry.
You might even have mixed feelings about this. More than just anger, perhaps sadness, or confusion. But they are all in one river, and if you let them flow slowly, the effect will be deadly- to your enemy. Just try to control your emotions, too- or else the river will go to fast and carve a canyon. Pierce explained.
Pretend... I had hurt your loved ones. What will you do?
Quad wasn't motivated at
Seeing Zephyr...laying motionless...bleeding...
It triggered a response in him, he shut his eyes and roared loudly. Without trying to do so, his Grand Talux light burst made his body shimmer and radiate brightly. The light was unintentional but Pierce had to shield his eyes from it. Quad really got into the moment, and rushed Pierce there, the light distracting him long enough for Quad to knock him down, the fragments of antlers on his head were aimed at Pierce's side, ready to jab him if he so pleased.
But Quad took a breath, realizing what he had done, and he backed away, letting Pierce stand up.
"I--I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...", he began.
I--I'm sorry. I didn't mean
That is quite alright, it was supposed to happen. At least you didn't hurt yourself greatly. Pierce said as he got up.
But it could of gotten a lot worse. I advise you not to use this, unless you must. In fact, you might find yourself doing in by instinct. Just remember, to control your anger.
*peeks in* My doe would love
Quad nods here, a slight sigh
"Thank you, Pierce. Your lessons are a great value to me. I will never forget them.", he bows here.

The dark red doe sat in the Oak Tree. She had just finished sprouting all of the flowers and they looked as cheerful as ever. The little things swayed and their petals seemed to flutter at the slightest touch of the cool wing. She wanted to decorate the Oak as much as she could, for the doe had heard of a certain stag by the name of Quad had been seeking help from deer in the forest. From what she heard, he wanted to learn how to fight. Though she didn't have a lot of experience in fighting, she could always give him some advice on dieting and she very much hoped that he would stop by soon.
(( OK, just don't forget it
The high tones of twittering birds created calming atmosphere and the fields of flowers filled this peace with symphony of uncounted pleasurable smells. In a shade of oak tree a lovely couple was having a rest on the soft moss beds.
The blackbuck was looking somewhere in the far, meanwhile the doe by his side nuzzled into his furry neck and purred.
"...what do you think about that, honey?" her sweet voice ended a sentence its beginning the buck just couldn't remember, no matter how much he tried.
ok Quad, here is your story
Goddess was waiting in the birch forest for Quad to show up. She had volunteered to give him fighting lessons. “There he is!” she thought as Quad approached her. “Goddess! I’m here! I just had to finish up another lesson.” Quad said. Goddess launched into the lesson right away. “The skill I am going to teach you is called warp-sparring. Let me give a demonstration. Lunge at me.” Quad lunged, and Goddess used her powerful legs to jump out of the way and land a soft blow to Quad’s side. “What just happened?” Quad asked, disoriented. “Again.” Goddess said. Quad lunged again and Goddess dodged away and brought her hooves down gently down on his back. “How are you moving so fast?” the dizzied and confused Quad asked. “I exercise every day so that my muscles stay powerful and I stay thin. All you have to do is build up your speed, and you’ll have it.” They practiced for hours, and after a drink at the pond, they began again. Quad was getting faster each time. Quad would lunge and Goddess would dodge, but she would get away less quickly. “One more time and that will be all for today,” Goddess said. Quad lunged, but this time instead of missing, he gently hit her side with his horns. Goddess was as surprised as Quad. “It seems you have mastered the rare skill of warp-sparring. And it seems you have also built up muscle and lost some weight at the same time.” They bowed to each other, and Quad went to start another lesson, and Goddess went to relax at the river idol.

The blackbuck rounded the corner, stopping momentarily in surprise to see the flowers and decorations on the Old Oak. He knew he had come to the right place.
Approaching, he looks up in curiosity, thinking he sees a doe sitting up in the Oak. "Hello up there!", he calls out.

Quad- Aw, that sucks, I
Auburn looked down at the stag and quickly came down the Oak Tree. She revealed herself and smiled at the stag. "Hello Quad!" she greeted cheerfully. The sunlight streaked down on them through the trees in the forest. Her dark red pelt was slightly more red in the light. Her dark brown-amber eyes looked up at him. She was quite small for a doe, yet her body was strong and slightly muscular. She can get quite a workout from running around the forest and blooming flowers and weeds all day.
"Well, Quad, I know that you've been looking for help. So I will tell you everything I can possibly give you to help you."
Good news! It came back
Bayleen -
Quad nods happily. "I've been learning from so many different deer, so I have different ideas on attacking and blocking as well as general information like protecting my ribs and throat, and so on. But what is really holding me back is my weight. Very little of this is actually muscle, and I'm especially having difficulty breathing and keeping up with the different training regiments I've done. I'm getting better, losing weight little by little, but I know my eating habits are...well...pretty terrible.", he grimaces here, knowing he will most likely have to do things differently than he has been.
The doe nods understandingly.
"These flowers," the deep red doe said, glancing up at the stag, "are very healthy. So whenever you are a bit hungry, you can munch on a few of these."
Then she tore off a tall strand of grass. "These have lots of protein and vitamins in it, even if it is just grass. Why don't you try them?"
She waited before moving on to some of the other things she had to tell him.
Quad bent down and nudged the
Slowly chewing it, he seemed to adjust to the taste before swallowing it. "...Well...that wasn't the most pleasant thing I've ever eaten...but I suppose it's better to eat healthy than to eat gluttonously like I have been...", he admitted, ready to move on.
"Haha, I know it can take a
Then she flicked her long, whispy tail and trotted over to a tree. She reared up and kicked at the tree, shaking it a bit. She kicked it a few more times, but nothing happened. She placed her hoof on the tree to keep her balanced. Her head tilted to the side in curiousity as she looked up at the tree. Suddenly, a pinecone fell from the tree and hit her forehead before landing on the ground beside her. "Ouch!" she squeaked with a giggle as she landed on all four legs. The doe rubbed her head on the bark before facing Quad again.
"Well anyways," she said with an embarrassed chuckle, "these are pinecones. I know they don't look edible, but you have to kind of crack them open and you'll find that they have these brown seeds in them. I think you'll like these better than the flowers."
She demonstrated and began smashing the pinecone open. Soon enough, there were seeds strewn around the remains of the pinecone. Auburn licked some of the seeds up from the ground. "Go ahead and try them."
"If this is what you dream
Wait, did that butterfly really had feathered wings? No, it's nonsense.
"Or perhaps," she leans her head down to him and gentle touches his nose with hers, "you might just be dreaming right now." She giggles.
You can swear that somewhere deep in the amber eyes of this lovely doe you'd just saw a flash of green ones, staring at you.
Bayleen - Quad tilts his
Quad tilts his head curiously, "You mean...you're not supposed to eat the pinecone whole?", he questions. He's always done so, thus his stomach is probably more torn up than it really should be, and all that excess food probably did nightmares to his body.
Finding another pinecone on the ground, he resists the urge to eat the entire thing, but instead mimics the doe and smashes it up with his hoof. He bends down to see the little seeds he should have been eating, and licking them up, he finds himself in a strange state of pleasure. "Ooohh...these are so delicious!!", he cries out in joy.
PLK217 -
His eyes widen more, and sitting up, he takes a deep breath of the air. It all seems so real...he smells the morning dew on the long golden grass, the sunlight shining off of them seems ethereally blinding. Even the sounds of birds overhead and bugs zipping by seem so amazingly detailed and vivid.
"Dream? This couldn't possibly be a dream...", Quad tries to say, but then considers this further, "How did I even get here...?"
Turning, he tilts his head curiously at the doe, "Who are you, if I may ask?", he is full of questions already.
The doe smiled with glee. She
"Aren't they? If you ate the whole thing, your stomach may be in knots because it takes a long time for the body to digest it, so the seeds are a better deal. They're a good meal, but don't have too many in one sitting." She bent her head down and licked some more up from the forest floor.
"Alright, now follow me," she said with a flick of her tail as she trotted in a different direction.
Bayleen - "Where to now?",
"Where to now?", Quad asked, following the doe curiously. He wondered if she would mention anything about mushrooms, which were a guilty pleasure of Quad's. He tends to eat any mushroom he sees because they are so delicious to him, and incidentally there aren't many mushrooms available to anyone else in the Forest. He knows exactly where to find them, and quite literally, is addicted to the fungus.
"If you say so, then it have
The breeze grows a little and few laves fall from the trees around them, humming of bees vanished in the swishing sound, how the long blades of grass lean down in the wind and the birds, who were flying above them just a moments ago now sat on the branches peacefully.
But she still acts as if nothing unusual is happening. "You don't recognize me? That's a pity." she says with a played twit, "You were much nicer to me, when you brought me in here, honey." She giggles once again and affectionately licked his nose. If she could, she would probably blush.
PLK217 - The blackbuck tilts
The blackbuck tilts his head. She did look familiar...why couldn't he recognize her? "Your face...it's unfamiliar to me...but it seems like I know your personality...", he speaks.
Stretching, he says something else, "So umm...what is this all about? Why are we here?", he feels oddly embarrassed to ask. It was slowly sinking in that this was a dream...but Quad didn't want to believe it for a moment. It still was amazingly real to him.
Perhaps if I could catch Quad
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
As she trotted, she said to
Then they arrived in a large cluster of purple flowers that dotted the ground. "These are okay to eat...they may not be as healthy as the yellow flowers by the Oak Tree, but they're okay to eat. I don't think I know the taste of these though..."
Auburn bent her head down and sniffed one of the purple flowers before munching on one. "They're not too bad, but I'd wait a few days before trying them because they're not in their good-tasting stage I don't think."
She arched her head back to look at the pink flowers. "Those pink flowers by the Crying Idol and near the Ancient Ruins are very sweet. Do you want to try those? I think you'd like them."
"So I've heard..." :>
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
Bayleen - Quad tries to
Quad tries to remember which flowers are which. Don't eat the yellow ones right now, but try the pink ones..., the words seem to echo in his head. "Sure, sweet flowers sound nice...", he says, and approaches the pink flowers. Bending down, he nibbles on one like before, and finding the taste very pleasing, he eats one of the blooms.
He chews it, savoring the taste before swallowing. "Oh! This is wonderful! I never knew these were so good! In fact...I think I could get used to the taste of these over all the mushrooms I've been eating lately...", he gives a clue as to what his diet really is like before he tries another of the pink flowers.
Graveyard -
Sorry I didn't realize that was you sitting next to me until just now XD!! Anyway, thanks for the in-game ideas, and I'll be really happy to roleplay on the blog you posted too. I'll make sure to edit the description I've posted above to fit what he learns, and he will be happy to teach Nightmare a few things he's been taught by others, especially some of the ideas on protecting the ribs and throat as well as other things of that nature.
Haha no worries, Nightmare
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
The doe looked at him. "Do
Then she looked at the pink flowers. She breathed on one that was still a bud and with her breath it was fully bloomed in seconds. "Umm...Oh yes. Excersizing. Well, I know I get a big workout of running all around the forest. So you can always do some rounds around the forest. Perhaps just start out with walking, then trotting and then a light canter pace. Start out slowly and don't push yourself. Of course, play-sparring is always fun and you use a lot of your muscles with that. Losing weight takes time, and if you eat correctly then it is definitely possible."
The doe thought for a moment before adding, "And since you've been such fine company, follow me for a treat."
EDIT:
I believe I own the 100th comment xD W00t!!!
