Dag's full name is pronounced '
I-or-dag-nyre', and was given the title
'The Fortress' in recognition of the guardianship he gives to and inspires in others. He is a symbol of unyielding strength of will and exhibits an impenetrable, one-pointed focus to rise above any situation. The emblem of victory - the Peregrine Falcon - still remains with him from his first and very old title of 'Wings of Peregrine'.
The Fortress }
Voice - Deep bass; an equal balance of gentility and authoritative power associated with a voice of moral substance and leadership. Feral vocalizations are rare from him, though he is known to produce brontidal rumbles and has an extraordinarily low, growling bellow.
Scent - His scent is very gustatory - likened to the smoulder of a warm, damp bonfire in the middle of open fields; burnt soil of old forests long gone.
Build - Based on an old-world ice giant
Eucladoceros species; the first species of deer genus to have highly evolved antlers yet is a primitive mass of strong bone and muscle. His body type is a visually solid domination with a dense muscular structure most noticeable around his barrel-chest and shoulders, reinforcing the relatively short, strong neck that bares the weight of a heavy square skull - resembling more bull than deer - and its gargantuan artillery; both of which being the most prominent indication of his skeletal bulk. Being top-heavy, his posture is almost restricted to one position when still. A long body means legs are stationed far apart to accommodate and spread the weight, and his head is always held high in balance giving him a kingly air, which is also reflected in his fluid and powerful gait. At full speed, there is very little that can stop his bulldozer momentum.
Antlers - Fortress by design. Supernumerary, elongated branched-antlers where the beam has grown outward behind him, tines growing upward; his outer primary tines are the largest and grow into long forward-facing pincers. There are 12 tines per pedical and are split into four sets, all of which together are specifically designed to interlock with any antler type. Central clusters suited to single beam pronged deer, outer and brow tines designed for the larger supernumerary or palmated antlers such as Irish Elk. They are incredibly thick, astonishingly heavy, and an impenetrable defense that cannot be breached.
Visual - His coat is made up of dense, varying shades of grey that give him an overall arsenic colouration, but his mane and face are the most striking; dirty white for the most part with a carnelian-red pattern draped around the contours of his beady-eyed, frill-cheeked face. The white of his mane continues only half-way under his stomach, and ends in a point with a very thin separating line of charcoal.
There is also an enormous patch-scar that tears through the left side of his neck which is coupled with the nick in his ear on the same side. This was given to him by the Spring Wolf in 2010*.
Conqueror - Being the placid giant he is, Dag never lowers his antlers without reason; rarely has his combat been seen within the peaceful confines of the forest. However, heed the warning of his scar. Events leading up to his present existence shed further light on this war-hardened battler. There is something prehistoric and almost predatory about his combat - the misfortune of colliding with such a monolith is simply an all-sensory deluge.
Antediluvian }
Iaurdagnire's story has become that of Endless Forest legend, starting in 2009 and ending in 2013. His story involves the Forest, the Gods, and the spiritual embodiment of the Seasons whom he served with perpetual lives as a God-given duty. Dag wanted to escape, and continually fought for a life and death that was his to dictate; to cease to be a higher power's fuel for intellectual evolution. But in learning about his place in the world and a way to put an end to his duties, he became even more lost. Ultimately, Dag's story is an exploration of purpose and morality in all forms, and almost entirely community driven. The community has been involved in each section in some way, and these are referred to as "Season Events" by those who have participated; the events were designed for everyone to enjoy, regardless of the story.

Ravenflight - The Queen His love and greatest treasure; indescribably bound to her like no other. Their history had long ran parallel, and although their paths crossed only rarely in bygone years, they were connected by a deep empathy for their respective trials and desire for freedom. Behind closed doors they each played a part in helping each other fulfill a purpose in order to escape, and then found themselves lost without it. When Dag returned to the forest, Ravenflight tried to help him re-adjust through her understanding of what it is like to feel truly detached from the world around you. As they spent more time together, Dag increasingly began to dote on her and fell very deeply in love. Captivated by her in every way. Ravenflight has given him a new purpose, and Dag is utterly devoted to her continued happiness. Adores and is enchanted by everything she is.
Cry - The Ace Guardian; a source of security; life indebted to. Dag has known Cry for a long time, and upon his return was healed by him (
see 'War Drum' Act V). Displays an affectionate "big brother" attitude towards the small white stag when around him.
Ephiré - The Jack An unspoken natural affinity; indebted to. The two giants have much in common with the way they cope with the world around them, and it is this understanding that lead Ephiré to become the catalyst in Dag's journey (
see 'Catalyst' story arc Act I-III). Has a profound trust in him and admires him greatly. He is also the only deer within the forest to have witnessed the full brunt of Dag's combat.
Virgil/The Red - Part of the Fortress' strong foundations. One of his oldest friends of a different world to his own, wild and unrestricted. At the time of his trials, Dag thought of Virgil's existence as "real", moreso than his own and one he wanted to achieve. Events between then and now strongly effected Dag, but their friendship remains strong and has been rebuilt. [to be re-written]

It looks like we have an RP on our hands.
D'aww. Thank you. I have no idea how I came up with her name, but ff.
I have an abridged or totally different version of Iaur's name.
Maybe: Idaqnire(I-dag-nire)=Male or Idaqurene(I-dag-you-reen)=Female?
I have thought of those names many times, and for a short while, That is what I thought Iaur's name was.

The design of your deer is stunning.
Dinamo - Dag raised a brow
Dag raised a brow and chuckled at her... odd, but straightforward greeting however it true it was. He smelt of a warm and inviting, smokey bonfire; burning wood and pine needles.
"Nice to meet you Dinamo," he replied with a smile, "My name is Iaurdagnire. But you can call me Dag."

His name is fun to shuffle around, and I think everyone has a different idea of how to spell/pronounce his name at a first glance. It's interesting to see what people come up with XD personally I like plain ol' Dag, or Dagnire / Nire.

"Ah, my patch-scar... it is a little unsightly isn't it..." He glanced down and sneered at it. The skin had toughened now, but he remembered how it used to hurt when it was cold, and burn in the sun if he didn't stay in the shade.
"I was attacked." Dag replied bluntly; he felt no need to elaborate,
"They took a piece of my ear too." His head tilted to show her his left ear - which has a nick in it - and he laughed a little as he did so. He'd never had to actually 'show' it to anyone before.
"How long have you been in the forest? I don't think I've ever even seen you before."
Faustt - I have a tip: ignore his antlers 8'D
Kitty08 - I'm surprised people still look at it now I've stopped doing his daily updates for the time being; thank you Kitty (': <3

Dinamo winced as she looked at his ear-Ouch? But then she nodded and looked down then away from his scar. The wind blew slightly, ruffling both her grey fur and the navy blue fur of Dag. "I have been here one year last Christmas day. I don't know how I came here, but it must of happened for a reason. I, must I admit, was a human before I came here, and that's all I remember."
The doe stared into Dag's blue coat, deep in thought--Straining to remember how she came into the forest. Shrugging away her trance she looked back up to Nire's eyes, a bit cold. "I have not seen you much, either, but there's a first time for everything, right? Anyways, I still am a bit of a noob to the forest, but i try to be in it as much as I can."
Another wind blew across the desolate forest, this time fracturing her stance and forcing a shiver down her spine. "Does the scar hurt?", she added randomly-Trying to spark a long conversation, again drifting deep into her thoughts, of how she got to the forest.
My rps/convos are no better
Dag nodded along to her words and stifled the urge to ask what a "noob" was. He'd never heard it before, put he presumed it meant a lack of experience given the context. His old friend Rev could turn into a human... he wasn't sure how he felt about them. But Dinamo said she used to be a human, so there was no need to pursue it.
"It used to hurt, but it doesn't anymore. I forget it's there most of the time! I-... Are you cold?"
The stag noticed her shiver, and it was well known that he made a nice warm wind-breaker. He moved to stand in the way of the wind and sat down next to her.
"If you sit next to me you shouldn't feel the wind as much."
Dinamo nodded somberly as Dag
Surprised, she looked up to Nire's face, searching, she looked into his liquid brown colored eyes, her own blue eys locking with his. "Aren't you cold, though?" Her voice wavered as she spoke, a little dazed by his eyes, actually. The doe felt the heat radiating off of Dag's body and reluctantly leaned on him, unsure if it was ok or not.
Only placing her skin against his, she help her weight off of him, as some sort of a precaution. She immediately felt her side get a bit warmer and blushed softly. "Thank you, by the way. The weather is terrible. But.. Enough of terrible things, how did you get here? I haven't seen you around much either, but I expect you have been here longer than I have."
Trying to kick start another conversation, the doe swiveled her furry ears around lazily, suddenly so warm and sleepy next to Dag.

Dag looked ahead as she got
"Winter weather is actually best suited to me, hm-hm. I'm built for this; I would be warm even if we had a blizzard."
He smiled,
"You're welcome. I-... Well, I know why I came into existence. It's the how and when that I can't remember. What I do know is that I've been here for almost two years now."
There was a moment of silence, and Dag closed his eyes as if in a meditative state.
"It is funny how deer can be in the same forest for a long time and never cross paths. But it is always pleasant when they do and it doesn't feel like the meeting of strangers."
He tilted his head to look at her and smiled warmly,
"You need not feel so awkward."
Nauia - Thank you very much (:

"Ah, my coat is a bit short,
The doe then nodded and smiled, it was all true. "So true, my dear. I- I'm sorry. Its a force of habit." She was referring to her remark about calling Dag a 'dear'. She again wasn't sure if it was alright.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not meaning to be tense or nervous. Its just, I just met you. I don't know whats alright to do and what's not." She smiled up at Dag again, and gladly relaxed, placing her full weight on his side. Feeling much more comfortable, she asked:
"So, what do you like, love? What makes you tick?" Again trying another feeble conversation starter, the doe felt much more comfortable calling Dag 'love' or 'dear' now what she was situated. Whatever that reason was exactly, she just felt, natural, in a way around Dag.
Hrae - Of course Noelle holds
Dinamo -
The giant loved sitting close to others, and it always made him feel tired. When Dinamo relaxed into him he felt his eyes grow heavy, and he yawned. The size of his mouth and the teeth within it were quite frightful, and he had a blue-pink tongue that curled at the very height of his yawn. There was a low rumble as his mouth began to close again; an audible 'click' sounded as his teeth fell together.
"Goodness, I'm sorry. I've been feeling so lethargic lately." He shook his head sharply in a tight motion in an attempt to shake of the tiredness he felt.
"You can be as you wish around me, Dinamo. There's no right or wrong."
He huffed as a precurser to answering her question; that kind of huff one does when trying to stall in order to think.
"What makes me tick..." He repeated, "Well, a lot of things I suppose. Seeing friends, playing with fawns, sitting in beautiful places. I very much like the simple pleasures.
What about you?"
Dinamo nodded softly and
Dinamo smiled at his response. "I love the little things in life--Like, when you wake up and take a deep breath of fresh air, or.. When you see the rain falling and just wonder about the things in life nobody seems to notice. You know? And, oh the fawns. I am terribly jealous of those that have them." She sighed happily and looked around, eying out the fawns playing around the two.
Sniffling from inside her mask, she rolled her tongue around inside her mouth and blinked. She shifted off of her back left leg and leaned into Dag more for balance, it had fallen asleep. Easily shaking it out, she grimaced at the pins-and-needles feeling tingling up her leg.
"Fawns, hm-hm." He sounded
With Dinamo's lean, he too found himself relaxing a bit more and splayed a leg out beside him,
"But then you know what I realized? There are so many fawns in the forest who don't have mothers and fathers, and want to play all the same. It isn't so bad after all; I don't have the worry of raising them, telling them off when they've misbehaved. I am a source of fun just as they are... and I think I like it that way just as much as they do. I-"
Dag stopped himself. There he was going off on one of his rambles, and he didn't want to subject her to those lengthy waffles just yet.
"So, things that no-one seems to notice... the forest is full of those, isn't it. Do you have a favourite?"
Dinamo nodded, she had never
Huffing, she too stopped herself. Suddenly she found there was so much to talk about. She was happy she had finally found something to have a long conversation with Dag, but she didn't want to murder him with her rambling. Snapping back to reality with an abrupt snort, she pondered her question happily-she had so many little favorites.
Letting out a grumble of a sigh, she finally decided. "Humpfnuhh, well. Out of all of the things I remember, I absolutely love sitting in one of the warmest sun spots, deer watching all of the others around me. With or without a friend around me, I can be entertained for hours on end.. How about you, love?"
Psst, I think the reason
-
As Dag listened to Dinamo describe the want of a child, his brow upturned in a sympathetic manner and his whole face seemed to soften. He felt silly; of course a child meant more to her. She is female, after all, and what he described was nothing short of what would be expected from a father. At the mention of blood, his slightly embarrassed face turned to one of uneasiness... sad, almost. He cannot have what she described as a "blood bond". Dag had no bloodline to speak of, and could not sire any children. It was just him.
He took a breath and sighed slowly, his own way of shaking him out of these kinds of thoughts. No sooner was there, it was gone, and Dag was back to smiling broadly again.
"I like sitting on Dandelion Hill, alone if I can. Or up on the valley by the pond where I can watch others, like you. But, I suppose that is a private pleasure. I spend most of my time playing, and I think the little things are the things I feel... like knowing that I am a source of uncomplicated fun, for my friends. Knowing that I am respected for it. Hm-hm, but I think the biggest, little thing of all is being able to not need a reason for a stranger to come by and say hello."
He tilted his head and looked down at her, then,
"I find many stags these days give more reasons to be avoided than to be befriended."
You are probably right.
All deer meet eventually, right? Perhaps, they just haven't found the right time to meet, just yet.
----
She let a smile dance its way onto her face, sadly hidden beneath her mask, about his favorite things. Feeling a sudden urge, she tossed her neck to the right and sent her mask whirling away from her face and down her neck, the red lace still in a perfect bow. "It was a bit stuffy, mhm."
Dinamo nodded in agreement with Dag. It was true, most males here had much of a short temper of bad reputation or much much worse, it was truly hard to find a good "guy friend" nowadays. "But, children aren't the world for me, and like you exactly said, there is always a chance to adopt. But, you are right again, there are so many tainted stags in the forest. At least there are a few nice ones to show the right way for a stag to be, like you."
She looked around again, this time the cool wind hitting the skin on her face, and she smiled. Then, her face scrunched up and she sneezed softly, her nose not used to being sprayed by the pollens directly blowing around in the air. Snorting, she looked up at Dag: "Whoops, sorry Dag."
