What Hraeth said. I'm very
I am full of stupid questions
Can you not see yourself on the list of backers? Someone said they saw me and I can't find me for the life of myself.
Let's all keep in mind that
20k may come short of covering the sheer barebones of the new game.
So let's all give it the best we've got. To the last minute.
As Indiegogo is the major hub, things will get slow after that [and its perks] is gone.
Past the halfway mark
That's incredible but as Uit
Thank you all for collecting
The more we collect now, the more confident we will feel!
Michael, Have you guys
Have you guys decided not to do the extension then? If that's the case then I completely respect your wishes, but I do think that even though we're past the halfway mark for donations, it would be a very big missed opportunity to not take advantage of the extension. If that's the case though, I just hope the enthusiasm for donating persists over the next six months!
If that's the case, could I suggest putting up a new blog - OR, editing this one actually - so that we can keep in touch with you and stay up to date on how the private paypal donations are going? It'd be really nice to be able to see the progress as it's being made (which is why Indiegogo was so nice for its visuals) and I personally think that having regular updates will help keep people motivated.

Keepiru, Like we'd lose
Like we'd lose anything. Besides, this remake isn't for us TEF players but the internet in general. Give the internet a way to chip in. Keep spreading the word.
This campaign is one-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I was unpleasantly surprised to see they would not extend it.
The sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter are excellent hubs as
a]. you can redirect all your/player-driven advertising efforts there and
b]. people will entrust Indiegogo with their money rather than some niche deer roleplaying site,
c]. easy to give out and manage perks, attracting more practical-minded crowd,
d]. like on any market there'll be people on a shopping streak who may see it and throw spare money at it.
Shame all of the above ends in two days.
I'm certain the campaign had more unlocked potential yet.

It would be great if you extended the campaign to be honest, so many people are willing and really want to see a remake of the game!

Michaël Samyn,
Will you extend the ongoing indiegogo campaign or
we'll have to send our donations someplace else, sometime later?

Did you all have to pay via credit card?
If so, I am really sorry, because I sadly won't be able to back this project then.

I've just made my last donation of €200. I'm so glad to see we've leapt over the 50% mark.
Alright. Thank you all for
While I don't think we will be able to collect the full amount on IndieGogo, for the reasons mentioned by some of you above, I do think it would be worthwhile to extend the campaign (even though I must admit it causes a bit of stress here at home). BUT KEEP IT QUIET for now! We will extend the campaign later today but we also want to take advantage of people who feel a bit of last minute pressure to contribute.
Since I don't believe we can make the full amount, we will also continue to collect donations after the IndieGogo campaign. We will set up a special page for this that reflects the status of that effort. Frankly, I'm hoping that we collect more than the 40,000 in the end because I'd love to immediately include some expansions while we are rebuilding the game, or shortly after.
All this also means that we will take the risk and go ahead with remaking The Endless Forest in a new engine. This is a risk because without the full amount, we may not have enough time to work on it, or we may not be able to pay for expert consultants. But I have a feeling that this is what the community wants us to do.
I don't want to brag — but I
but I knew you had that strategy in mind! Even though I didn't count on my hunch even myself.
Oh good news then. Btw M&A,
Btw M&A, I was thinking about the Forest Patron perk and to be honest I'm disapointed by it.
Ok custom 3D print is really nice and I'd like one but €1000 EUR is not a little sum. It deserves more, like the right to put a part of yourself in the new game, to be able to personalize a part of the forest : a statue, a special tree, a patch of unique flowers... something like that would be really nice.
Giving the time of year, I'll
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a kind of grant out there that would match a 50% community funding :') would solve the problem instantly.
Perhaps you should consider setting up a Patreon in a few months down the line when the project has started and is in full swing? And the reason I say a few months is because with patreon, the main lure for people to pay a monthly contribution/subscription is the incentive of getting behind-the-scenes access/things that aren't available publicly. Such as access to any concept art, screenshots etc. The key thing is exclusivity, so you could limit update activity here and those who want those updates and that access would have to donate for that privilege, and know that at the same time they are directly involved in sponsoring the game. You could keep it going for as long as the project is live, so in theory it could possibly top you up beyond the 40k mark depending on how well the extension goes.
Just a suggestion :B
^Would totally support that
I hate to sound like a broken
Know a few people hard pressed for money thought of tossing some at the campaign if they liked the tin set enough for some incentive.

and that was posted on the 18th, so it's been well over a week. which isn't to say the crowd waiting to see it doesn't understand they're busy people, we were just hoping to have gotten a glimpse by now and before this initial campaign is over since it was never assured the perks would still be available afterward.
Starling wondered the same
They confirmed on extending the campaign and with it, the perks. So see, no rush there.

What Keep said. I think this is definitely worth the 1k donation. Of course, there is no way I will be donating such a sum, but I think this would reflect the amount a lot better.
I also feel a similar way about the pelts; although amazing! I start to think 300+ euros is a huge amount of money to reach a single pelt with no extra set items. Of course, I also understand that its difficult to cater for higher tiers for the amount in question.
Perhaps it scales more like -
300 gets you all the limited edt. god pelts.
500 As is, although to be honest I think 500 should warrant an entire set. Of course, you guys have creative guidance and curation.
700 Should be added, or something between 500-1000. Maybe you get to have, as keep suggested a small personalisation of the forest. Could be from existing assets for ease's sake.
1000 - get to have chats with you to create a new biome in the forest. Maybe for excuses sake, this biome could be smaller patches than the previous ones to keep production costs down. And of course, this would be available in the new version.
I know making games and art is expensive, but Ive never made a game. So anyone please step up and tell me if this is a silly idea or disproportionate to 40k euros.....
@parrotsnpineapple -
parrotsnpineapple, Here's
Here's why there can be no change to the existing perks.
As a backer, I would agree with you on getting more out of perks.
As smb who keeps thinking how to rake up more money for TEF, though, I see the nice curve behind perk design.
Example: you get the Forest Believer, the secret perk that comes with it is another 100eu, and with the next 100eu you get the Magician perk.
If you want to design the full set, you'd need 3 Magician perks.
That's fundraising at its finest.
Bc they're not doing perks to please us, they make them to get the game rolling, and expanded.
If you look at it this way, it's practical and will rake em more money in the long run. I'm all for it even though it sets my own pockets on fire.
As for the top tier, they mentioned it's costly to do because of modeling issues that'll come with it.
Basically, needs a lot of work to be put into it.
Maybe they made it expensive so they would not get sidetracked by all the requests, hehe.
Uitleger: yeah fair enough.
Anyways my point is moot anyways. We cant change the perks, it is what it is. And yes, we shoukd be doing this for phillanthropic reasons. As people who have lived and breathed this game, domating for the sake of donating is easy. For the wider public, more enticement is necessary.
The Tin Deer design suffered
The Forest Patron perk is so high because preparing a custom deer model for 3D printing is quite a bit of work onto itself. But we don't see the perks as products to buy in a shop. They are more symbols of gratitude.
Anyway, we're extending the campaign now. So that will give us an extra 30 days to come up with new ideas for perks etc. Thanks for all the suggestions!
