Oh, boy. Those berries were coming fast and heavy, huh? Well, Seed was a bit of a lightweight, even factoring in that he was eating things besides the fermented berries. Maybe that was why Seed, blushing furiously, continued his monologue. His tongue had loosened and his speech was smooth and uninhibited, as if he could speak with no one listening. Yes, this was his 'wax rhapsodic' phase, before he staggers into incoherence.
"That you exist in this world as my precious friend....Turns cold days into ones filled with golden sunlight, to keep me warm. That is how friendship is, truly."

It really wasn't necessary,
Kylar felt a smirk of
"I'm glad we're here," He said, "I'm gettin' kinna hungry." It had been a while since lunch, and it was rarer than people thought for Kylar to actually go and make a snack during the afternoon.
A silver brow may have raised
He nodded with a sort of hum, agreeing. His stomach was beginning to complain a bit too.
As they walked closer to the
"Bet this'll be your new favourite restaurant haha," Kylar laughed as they got near to the door.

He snorted at the remark, but... "Yea...maybe." ...he had to agree.
The entrance door was open,
"Hello, Welcome to the Lamiaceae," She said as the two men came to the front of the queue.
"Reservation for two, be under Lerrielle," Kylar replied politely. She looked through what he guessed was a list of the reservations, and found his. She nodded, and gestured for them to follow her, leading them to a table that thankfully, was a bit away from the door. "Someone will be along with your menus in a moment." She finished, and returned quickly to her podium to help the next customers.
[I had to Google that name.
He blinked when he heard the name of the restaurant. Why did it seem familiar? Like it meant something interesting. Toukan felt like he should know the meaning... Thoughts of this occupied his mind as they were led to a table, but not to the point of where he wasn't aware of their surroundings - he did notice this place wasn't as fancy as the last one they'd gone to, and he nodded in acknowledgement to the hostess before she walked away.
An anonymous waiter came to
Kylar's eyes flittered across the menu, light blue scanning across the pages. There was a few sparks in them at present, the thoughts running through his mind had dampened his blocking of that, though it was likely that anyone looking at them would think it merely a trick of the light. Toukan might know it for what it was since he knew Kylar well, but no one else would notice. Or if they did think it more than a trick of the light, would not be able to explain it. People tended to dismiss the odd, so they didn't look crazy.
"Are we having starters, or ya wanna skip straight to main course?" Kylar asked.
Toukan didn't think much of
This might be a difficult choice. A lot of the food sounded appealing, especially since a good deal of the dishes seemed to have mint as one of their ingredients. He could feel his mouth watering at the thought.
At the question, he glanced over, looked back at the menu to think it over...and glanced back again in almost a double-take. Those were definitely sparks in Kylar's eyes, like lightning was moving through them. Silver brows subtly rose. What was causing that reaction, he wondered. He decided not to say anything about it, though, instead focusing his attention back on the menu. It could be nothing after all.
"Hmm..." he hummed in thought, brow furrowing. The starters did look appealing, but honestly... "I'm fine either way."
Kylar looked up at his

Toukan nodded at that. "Works

A waiter eventually arrived,
"What can I get you guys?" He asked nicely enough. Kylar placed an order for a coke, and a regular burger. In his mind, when one was eating a burger, there should be meat, bread and ketchup. Nothing more, and chips on the side.
Toukan couldn't help the
He felt a bit odd ordering eggplant parmigiana when Kylar was getting something more simple, but he felt like he'd regret it if he hadn't gotten it. The dish sounded good and he was curious. It had been described as having mint incorporated into the sauce, adding to the appeal. And his beverage of choice: root beer, of course.

He normally wasn't one for enjoying summer days that much. They were usually too hot for his liking...
But today seemed like a good day for a walk through the Forest...despite the fact that "walking" was more like "walking broken up by a limp". His scarred leg didn't bother him as much as it used to though, so it wouldn't be a problem for awhile yet. For now, walking was still a nice option.
And the birch forest always was good for a peaceful stroll, being that it was much less crowded than the darker First Forest. Sometimes Toukan just liked being on his own and observing the scenery. At least for a little while.
He wouldn't turn away any company that wished to join him though.

[[To avoid this stopping before it starts... >> ]]
The calmly rippling surface of the stream rippled more as a hoof touched its surface. The individual it belonged to watched with little interest though.
The tan and cream-colored caribou gave off an air of not knowing what to do at the moment.
This had become the norm for Tougen.
Or rather, Tundra, as he had been calling himself here.
He still didn't know why he didn't bother to use his real name. He could say it was a way to start over.
But really, it was because he didn't want to continue to be known as "like his brother".
Oh, his eyes are like his brother's!
His markings are similar to his brother's!
Guh.
Not all the humans who had come to the zoo had done that, of course, but it was often enough. He'd ignored them since he couldn't do anything about it, but now, in a place where no one knew him, he didn't need to put up with that.
So it really was a way to start over.
Though that was probably silly since reminders of the past were here too.
He'd seen - heck, once nearly crashed into before running away like a coward! - who he assumed to be his older brother numerous times. Same eyes, similar markings, and a leg that could've been mangled by a certain fence. He always seemed to get curious looks when he was spotted by the other too.
Tundra wasn't sure if it was because the larger caribou suspected something or if it was because of his own deformity. His right front leg hadn't really grown right in the womb, so the hoof twisted inward. It functioned, sure, but he had to walk carefully to avoid stumbling.
Of course, the other could've not cared about that and instead thought, "Oh, look. There's that crazy bull that nearly ran into me before bolting," every time...
But he'd never know. He wasn't sure about going up to the other caribou again. Wasn't sure if he wanted anyone to know who he was. Even though the idea was tempting...but not. Though if the other knew, then he wouldn't be alone anymore...but then if he did know, others would probably start comparing him to his brother here too.
His indecisiveness was giving him a headache.
Pushing that train of thought away for now, he went back to staring at the rippling stream, not sure of what to do at the moment.
[[Did not intend to write a freaking book. 8|; ]]
[ WELL now I feel guilty |: I
Keith didn't particularly like sleeping these days. Up until four days ago, the nightmares that had plagued him before had been very rare, scattered, occurring perhaps once every four nights or so. The last three times he'd slept, however, his subconscious mind had been rattled by nightly demons that wrapped around his dreams and stained them a disgusting, inky black.
No, he didn't like sleeping, and as a result had not done so for just over a day. Truth be told, so long as he kept himself busy or at least moving he didn't really feel tired at all - but the second he sat still, his eyelids started to droop. It surprised him, really; in his other life he could stay awake for days on end, though admittedly certain substances did help with that.
The scruffy creature was skinnier than the average forest fawn, and only slightly taller than one too, due to his stupidly long legs. Keith was built more like a malnourished dog than a deer, with an awkward anatomy that made his chest wide and somewhat muscular, and the rest of him skinny and gaunt.
Someone else might have been intimidated at the sight of the caribou resting by the idol. Not Keith, however; he was a sociable bastard, and as of yet had never been injured in a forest fight. He'd witnessed them, though - and he supposed that if he was honest, they did scare him. Mostly because he was defenceless against the majority of forest creatures.
"Alright?" was his customary greeting as he trotted behind the idol and around it, just past the cream-coloured male. Keith glanced over at him, rum-coloured eyes into blue, then cast his gaze away again, staring down at the river. He'd never quite figured out how to take a drink from it without sliding into the damn thing.
The dark blue stag had awoken
He moved from the trees at a meandering pace with no real objective in mind. He hadn’t come here with a purpose in mind. He wasn’t even sure if Toukan was in the forest at the moment since it wasn’t like he kept track of his boyfriend every single moment of the day. There was the odd time they didn’t see other for a couple days because of that but it wasn’t really that important. Toukan wouldn’t do anything bad and Kylar was too attached to Toukan to do anything either so if they missed each other every so often for a couple days it was fine, but he wouldn’t mind seeing him today. He felt like simply being with the other here for a while. They had some good memories of days they had spent here amongst the trees. This was where they had started, this was where they had some of their best times – their first kiss, for example, where Kylar had stolen his future boyfriend’s first without thought to tease him – not that he had known that it was his actual first before he had done it. That had come later in their first attempt to break some kind of blushing record.
As he crossed the very oddly obvious line between the ‘First’ and Birch Forests, he almost immediately smelled the scent of Toukan on the wind – a fresh minty scent that was hard to miss. He was close by. Kylar still couldn’t get used to that; simply smelling the scent and knowing almost precisely where the other was despite the fact that he had been coming to the forest for a couple of years now. It still seemed strange, but he guessed that was just something about being a deer. They had better hearing as well he knew. He could almost always hear the conversations of the deer around him even if they were quiet – unlike when he was human where he knew he wouldn’t have been able to. He turned in the direction the scent was coming from – further into the Birch Forest and walked towards it, not at a particularly fast or slow pace, just a walking pace. It wasn’t like there was a rush – Toukan didn’t exactly go places super quickly due to his leg, although from experience Kylar knew that if he really wanted, Toukan could go quite quickly for a time.
@Dannii: [[I'm not planning
[[I'm not planning to draw something every time myself. |D Only when the urge hits me or it's easier than describing a scene.]]
Since he wasn't really caught up in any thoughts, Tundra didn't fail to notice the small...stag was the right word, right?...approaching.
Making sure his turned hoof was still tucked out of sight beneath him, the caribou watched the scruffy thing curiously out of the corner of his eye. He'd seen deer of all shapes and sizes since he'd gotten here, so the appearance of this one wasn't unusual to him.
"Uhh..." he responded with a blink. "I guess so?" That seemed like an odd way to say hello to someone. Asking "alright" instead of starting with "hi" or something. But then, there were odd deer here he was sure. He just hadn't interacted with many of them, so he was a bit out of practice...ok, a lot out of practice in socializing.
When the other stared at the stream, his own eyes moved back towards the water, down near the hoof he still had touching the surface. He wasn't sure how he felt about having his solitude interrupted.
@Mick:
Toukan had stopped to gaze upward at a passing pair of doves flying by. It was kind of cute how some did that, though he wasn't sure he'd use those exact words out loud.
A gentle breeze ruffled his fur a bit, and he turned his face into it with closed eyes. He thought of finding a nice place to sit to enjoy it better...except the breeze also carried a scent that made his heart beat just a little harder. He knew what it meant.
Who else smelled like lightning and Axe after all?
Opening his eyes again, the caribou looked around with perked ears as if that might help him search better, hoping to catch sight of familiar blue fur and giant red antlers.
Toukan was close, Kylar
He knew that the blood lightning functioned instead of the normal electrical signals inside his body and that because of that he didn’t register any extra electricity that hit him since his body had adapted to deal with it. He also knew that it had something to do with the power he had – i.e. the control of any other lightning that was around since when Ivan had used his faucet pipe as a lightning rod it had robbed him of the ability to control other lightning despite the fact that he could normally get it to override any normal attraction to metallic objects. The other thing about it was that it was also a bit like a mood ring – it would change colours depending on his emotion. Since he wasn’t particularly anything at the moment it would likely just be light blue like it normally was. He looked to his body as he kept walking to confirm that. He could usually see the colour faintly through the fur he had as a deer since it was so dark; the colour of the night – presumably why it was called the nightfall pelt by some of the other deer around the forest.
Suddenly there was a thwack noise from really close by and there was pain coming from his antler – well, it wasn’t really pain but he knew his antler had hit something or other. He looked to see what he had collided with and were he human would probably have went as bright red as Toukan often went when Kylar made a euphemism. He had been so distracted checking the colour of his blood lightning that he had managed to walk into a tree with his left antler, although he knew that in his defence, it was fairly easy to do that since his antlers were huge. They were like six feet across – he didn’t know precisely but they could be an absolute nightmare to deal with due to their size. That was another reason that the Birch Forest could be appealing – sometimes when the ‘First’ was crowded, it could get difficult to walk about the place with the huge antlers, he would feel like he was about to walk into something. He just hoped that he wasn’t close enough to another deer that they managed to witness that entire event. It was embarrassing.
He'd started to head in the
Kylar, seeming distracted, almost walking into a tree.
Toukan cut off a snort before it began. But by the way his lips were pressed together and the amused light to his eyes that made them seem even brighter than their normal ice blue, it was obvious he was just barely holding back his laughter.
Of course, Toukan would be
“Totally meant to do that,” Kylar said with no seriousness to his voice at all, he allowed himself to chuckle at his own folly, “Hey baby.” He added, kissing the other’s muzzle again. Toukan even tasted like mint – although Kylar did know the explanation for that. He had caught the other once rolling around happily in the mint plants. He was glad the forest didn’t have cameras. The two would probably have ended up with blackmail material on each other that they would be constantly employing – in Kylar’s case, he imagined that he’d be using to extract certain “favours” from Toukan. Not that he’d ever really had to bribe the other. Toukan loved him as much as Kylar loved Toukan, of that he was certain.
