Kylar let go of his
Home came with the promise of cuddling on his couch whilst they watched...or rather didn't watch a movie. It came with the promise of kisses gently shared where neither tongue would fight for dominance but they would settle into the gentle exchange of the love they shared, a combination rather than the heavy, passionate kisses like the ones they had just shared. Although that heavy passion was also promised by home - there it would be untempered by modesty and embarassment and the rules of society. There clothing could be left strewn as they drew closer to each other, joining together in the ultimate expression of their heated passion. It meant using Kylar and Toukan's red bedroom to its alternate purpose. It meant cries of passion, screams of ecstasy, not these quiet but heated kisses that were shared outside in the shadows. It was where they were overt with each other, abandoing everything bar each other - pushing thoughts to the back of his mind he could surrender to his desires for Toukan without worrying about people seenig, people hearing. The things that would stop him from being with his lover in that way when they were there, for although few people came to this part of the forest, there was still the matter of the few that did come.
It wouldn't be far to their home - Kylar had brought with him, his car this time. Kahlan had sent him keys and told him to pick it up from her garage. Kahlan herself had rarely used it when it had belonged to her, but Kylar drove more frequently, not being as fond of long walks as his dear sister. She could quite happily walk for an hour or more to get to a destination that she would spend a large amount of time in - like coming to the forest, although that wasn't quite an hour. It was about twenty minutes of steady walking but that was still a distance that Kylar would prefer to drive rather than walk since it was only a few minutes by car. He was grateful that he had brought it this time further for the reason that he disliked making Toukan walk for extended periods. He knew that the other didn't have that much trouble walking but it made him feel better when he didn't have to. Kylar couldn't bear it if he was causing his lover pain - he doubted that Toukan would mention if a walk with him ever did actually cause him pain and Toukan was more adept at hiding moods from Kylar than Kylar was at keeping them from Toukan; he always seemed to know when there was something on Kylar's mind without fail, where Kylar could miss signals or think they were there when they weren't.
He took a few steps in the direction that was marked by a small arrow on a tree near where he had gotten the box. Having picked the wrong direction before, Kylar had thought best to mark the way to the forest entrance and to the exit so that he didn't have to think about where he was going. The marks were left in his lightning though, so that no one else would be able to follow the seemingly random trail. They were noticeable if he were around - small illuminated arrows that seemed to hover next to a tree rather than being attached to it.
"My car's down at the front of the forest, so it's only a couple minutes walk and then we can drive home," Kylar said to his lover softly. He was interested to get home - wanted to be there; interrupting his kisses and embraces was not something that he liked doing and once they were home they could have some uninterrupted couple time - although knowing Kylar's inevitable bad luck, he was aware that likely Kinsha or Suiren would call with some earth shattering matter that would require Toukan's immediate attention for a significant period of time, or force them to leave their apartment to deal with whatever emergency that had arisen. He proceeded slowly, at a pace that he knew that Toukan would be able to follow with ease and without straining his leg.
...I felt bad for procrastinating so long so I thought I should throw my full effort into this.
[[Dude. I could literally
I blame you. XP]]
Toukan regretted having to separate from the embrace they had been in, even if it would only be for a short time. ...when had he gotten so clingy anyway? He was never this cuddly with anyone before meeting Kylar. Never one to start the clinging at least, for he did let others he knew well get close if they wanted to... But with Kylar, it was different. He could never be close for too long. Though he supposed that was normal when you were in love.
Mentally shaking his head to stop his thoughts before they got any more sappy, Toukan followed, limping as he usually did as he put less weight on his left leg since it was always weaker than his right. He wondered if that would ever improve, but figured he was lucky it had gotten to the point it was at now. He was lucky to even have that leg since it had been so badly injured - shown by four deep, jagged scars it held. He only had them because he'd wanted freedom and a fence had tried to tell him "no"; so, even though his leg scars were a pain, he did appreciate them. At least a bit.
He glanced at each glowing arrow as he passed it, fascinated yet amused at the markers that only Kylar could've created. He wondered if that meant the lightning user had gotten lost out here before. It was tempting to ask just to tease him about it.
Hearing the footsteps
Of course, Kylar knew that it could also bring out the worst in people – it had certainly brought out the worst in him, those other times before that when he would have been willing to change, willing to love just them and they had turned him away. Once he could understand; they were merely not interested and whilst he had been crushed at the time, he could respect that decision now. It was the second time that had bothered him more, when he had been strung along only to be used and abused in a dark way – Mikhail had strung him along saying that he had left Ivan, that he hated the other and that things between them would be better. Kylar had offered him protection and love, and Mikhail had used that to keep himself safe until Ivan came for him and when he did – when Ivan had broken Kylar and nearly killed him, Mikhail had left him for Ivan with not a word but “sorry”. There had been no reason, there had been nothing from him. Kylar avoided his scent when they were in the forest at the same time now. He didn’t care for the other anymore, and he wanted nothing to do with him. Memories of Mikhail brought only pain and suffering to the teen, whereas the memories that he had with Toukan; with very few exceptions brought only joy. There was the odd moment in his memories where his happiness dipped but not because Toukan had done something or he had done something – no, the dips in his happiness there came from other people harming Toukan, or harming Kylar himself.
He banished other thoughts from his mind; this was no time to be thinking of all the things that had gone on in the past – the past was just that, it couldn’t be amended or changed or relived. It could only be thought of, looked at. History belonged it books; written idellibly for all of time. You could know it, remember it and feel it but there was nothing about it that could be done. You could only learn from it and hope to repeat successes and learn from failures. Kylar had learned and that was all that needed to be done, so those memories held no place at this moment in time. He continued walking through the trees, maintaining the slow pace that he had set so that Toukan was able to keep up at all times without much effort or strain to his leg. He was enjoying this walk, despite the quiet nature of it, the quiet was amiable, comfortable. They weren’t talking simply because at that moment there was nothing that needed to be said – well that and Kylar needed to pay attention to make sure that he hadn’t lost sight of the arrows, although he was not telling Toukan that; it would result in teasing. Although teasing could be good…it gave Kylar an excuse to tease back later and when he did, when he exacted his “revenge” he took no prisoners. That line of thought brought a smirk to his face, although he knew that he shouldn’t think about that at that particular moment – he couldn’t be distracted…those lightning arrows were all that prevented him from having a walk that last a while. He looked at the next arrow, pointing down a small incline and that made him happier, that meant they were there. They were at the entrance.
He looked down that incline as he approached it, and he could see the break in the trees and the familiar grey of road and car park. He took steps down it and came to the treeline. There, he was out of the forest – a trip that thanks to the arrows had not lasted particularly long. The arrows that were still illuminated at that point faded to prevent anyone else from seeing them. It wouldn’t do for someone to follow them since they could end up in the forest as well. Although, Kylar wondered if that were actually true; Kylar had been lured there, as had Kahlan so he wondered if only certain people were allowed to get to the forest – although what the criteria was, he was uncertain. The only connection between him and his sister was that of blood. They didn’t have much in common in other interests besides that. Kahlan was a lonely intellectual, and Kylar liked to be social and party and whilst he was smart, he didn’t really use his brains. He didn’t feel the need to be nose deep in a book every night like Kahlan did.
A glance from his azure eyes into the car park revealed the location of his car; not too far from where they had exited the forested area. It wasn’t a particularly fancy car – no it was a bog standard Vauxhall Corsa; a very common car in the area. It was a dark colour, not quite black enough that it would show all the dirt that was likely on it from driving up into this area but still reasonably dark. He pointed over to it and turned his head towards Toukan.
“So what do you think of my car?” Kylar asked with a chuckle remembering that he didn’t think he’d shown it to Toukan before – not that they tended to go places in cars. Usually they were within walking distances of places that they wanted to get to. Despite preferring the car even for short journeys; Kylar found that walking with Toukan made walking a more appealing activity – even if he wasn’t saying much at all during the walk, it still felt good even to walk near him – although usually in the town Kylar liked to clasp Toukan’s hand.
The walk was shared in
He looked around the area as he walked, taking in the scenery (including the glowing arrows that he was still amused by) and stealing unseen glances at the blond since he was still trailing a short ways after him.
It wasn't long before they came upon a break in the trees. He caught up, coming up alongside Kylar to look towards the parking area as well.
He blinked at the question, not really expecting it before turning his attention to the vehicle. He'd seen it before, when Kylar had picked him up for one of the few real dates they had been on, but nothing had been said about it then. He didn't really think much of automobiles either. Not like he could drive.
He shrugged. "It's ok I guess? I don't really have an opinion on cars," he admitted almost sheepishly.
Kylar chuckled at hearing
“Home, then?” Kylar asked to confirm the earlier offer of returning back to their apartment – to watch…or not watch one of the films they had there, although what film they would/wouldn’t watch wasn’t something that he had thought about. It occurred to him that he had never looked to see what, if any, DVDs that Toukan had brought with him when he moved in. That wasn’t something they had ever really talked about. Kylar wasn’t sure whether it was a good or bad thing that there were still things that they didn’t know each other. He leaned towards that being a good thing because there was always something new, something interesting about the other; a new thing that was simply another aspect of the other to love and love the aspects of Toukan that he knew of, Kylar did – there was nothing about his boyfriend that Kylar disliked. He didn’t think there ever would be anything either.
Ah well...back to normal size it seems.
Having the door held open for
Toukan nodded both in answer to the question and in a silent thanks for opening the door - paired with a smile so the meaning would be understood - as he climbed into the passenger side of the car.
Watching Scape find where he
...Did it say all the things he was trying to formulate these days?
Seed nervously pranced side-to-side, standing behind a tree a little ways off and ducking his head back periodically as he tried to think of what to say.
Oh? What was this? It seemed
It seemed his guess had been right. The answer had been the same dandelion patch he had visited before. A guess for another poem that had only led to another clue. He wondered when the stone that could only have come from the bridge had been moved here. It had to have been sometime in the past few days since it hadn't been here on his last visit to this spot.
Scape looked more closely at the stone to read the the poem he found scratched on it.
He wasn't really the best at interpreting poetry, but he got the general meaning. This poem was at least about enjoying this spot with those you cared about. He raised his head to look around, noticing the great view of the pond this spot had.
The stag smiled.
He didn't really pay much attention to every little detail of the Forest; usually it was just the deer in it that got his main focus. And if no one was around, he zipped through on a run, letting everything fly by in a blur.
It was good to stop and really look sometimes.
...and he was sure he'd caught something green moving out of the corner of his eye. Crinkling his brow, the dark blue deer turned his head, catching sight of the tip of an antler disappearing behind a tree.
An antler covered in purple flowers.
He smirked, raising a brow, walking over to said tree slowly to stop before it, keeping the amused smirk in place.
[[Wow. I didn't even intend to write that much. It just...happened. XD]]
Seed drooped his head,
"...How was it?"
He asked. His voice and expression was both nervous and shy. He always felt nervous, waiting on feedback for a poem; it was an odd mix of excitement and fear, pride and shame. He smiled, though....
And, regardless of feedback, he eagerly gave his dearest, oldest friend an affectionate nuzzle. It rarely came to it that the two could meet these days, and the conflict between joy and nerves sent Seed's heart see-sawing.
Peggles. Now you understand
@Seed: Since Seed was asking
Since Seed was asking what he thought, Scape figured that meant he'd arranged this scavenger hunt and written all of the poems. He wasn't surrprised by this. "It's...interesting," he answered, tone of voice hinting that it was the good kind of "interesting" that he meant. He smiled kind of sheepishly. "Sorry I can't give a better opinion than that. I'm not really the best at interpreting poetry."
@Mick: Well rar? XP
(Muuuuuuuuuuuse why. |c;;;
Being a creature who frequently spoke with the dead Dark found that he was not able to look at the doe as though she were a freak of nature... not without being quite the hypocrite. If he were not mistaken, he recalled even individuals who spoke with fireflies as well, and one stag who spoke with birds.
Zerg didn't seem to notice the perplexed look... that or she'd seen it enough when her name was mentioned to not care that she saw it. "Glad to meet you!" she chimes. She pauses for a moment, almost as if waiting on the other bull to give his name. Before the old demon tries to rasp it out however, she seems to recognise him. "Hey! You're that gravekeeper, aren't you? My brother mentioned I'd recognise you by the six eyes." she realizes. With a slight glance to the now rather abandoned pond area, she realizes the old stag may be the reason everyone cleared out.
Now my muse is failing to
Kylar smirked at seeing the
The drive, he knew, would not be long; there was usually only light traffic in town at this time of day since most people were working at this point. Kylar hadn’t decided on what he was doing yet so he was living at home and not doing a whole lot of anything. He was eighteen now, and he could do what he wanted – but he lived and loved with Toukan and he had to think about that in his decision making process. That was the only thing that had stopped him from doing what he had initially wanted to do – walking to the nearest recruiting station and joining up with the army. He had wanted to do that for a while, but he couldn’t stand the idea of leaving Toukan for months on end, so he was unsure of what he wanted. Maybe, he figured, he should probably talk to Toukan about it. Not yet, though. Not today. Today was for kissing on the couch and getting a little deeper before walking into a red room to satisfy their desire for the other. It wasn’t for talking about life changing stuff.
"That's alright. The
He was maybe a liiiittle dissapointed, but there was no way he'd let that show. He did sort of want to talk a bit about what he was trying to catch there -- that moment where love goes to seed, and floats away like dandelions...And it's OK, all of the sudden.
[="darkgreen"]"I could probably give you some pointers...But I'm not sure that's something you can teach. Or that it'd do much good to learn, anyway,"[/]
He added, with a laugh -- though it was a little at himself.
[="darkgreen"]"Anyway, it's been a while; what have you been up to? How is everyone?"[/]
@Mick: The car ride wasn't
The car ride wasn't that eventful since the roads weren't really busy at this hour, but Toukan still found it enjoyable due to the company he was in. Though he couldn't help thinking Kylar seemed a little...distracted. He wondered if something was on the blond's mind, but wasn't sure if he should ask.
[[Like I said it'd be: short. |D]]
@Seed:
Scape tilted his head at the idea of being taught how to read poetry. "It's a different way of looking at things, right? That probably would be hard to teach...
"And everyone's doing alright I suppose. Midnight is still surprising Zerg and I with how much energy she has," the blue stag chuckled before sobering. "I haven't seen Oisín in awhile, though...but some deer do disappear for awhile and come back just fine..." he trailed off, speaking in a tone that suggested he was trying to keep himself from worrying.
"Yeah...And sometimes I'm not
Seed said, thinking about all the ways he enjoyed poetry. There were times, he knew, he overthought things: overthinking things was what Seed did. He just...Wanted them to matter.
On the other subject, with which he was familiar, he only had to offer a sad smile and a nod.
"I think he'll be back... But there's no harm in being a little concerned. That's just you wanting to see that day be sooner rather than later."
He declared, his voice warming to a more affirmative sort of tone. He figured Scape would worry regardless -- that any attempt to not worry was doomed (this may have been a bit of projection on Seed's part) -- when what he was doing in his heart was being concerned.
"Or something like that, anyway... Want to do something to distract you, anyway?"
Scape let out a sort of
"Yea, I guess I wouldn't mind a distraction. Have anything in mind?"
"Not particularly," Seed
Seed admitted, with a slight smile.
"But I'm sure if we walk around, something will occur to us."
And so Seed began walking, slowly at first until Scape joined in. He idly kicked a pinecone forward as he went.
Because he lived on a main
“Hey, do you want me to drop you at the door and I’ll catch you up after I park?” He asked.
@Seed: Scape nodded in
Scape nodded in agreement. Something was always going on somewhere in this Forest after all. And even if there was nothing, he could take the opportunity to look more closely at the details of everything again.
Sometimes it was nice to slow down instead of letting everything pass by at a blur. Even better when walking with your best friend.
@Mick
He recognized the area they were in, knowing they were close to being home. It was still somewhat odd for Toukan to think of Kylar's place as home despite living there for the better part of a year now. He wondered what happened to his old room at Suiren's house...
Toukan let that thought hang as Kylar asked him a question. He shrugged, answering with, "I'm fine with that." Whatever would be easier, and he was fine with waiting at the door.
Seed was of about the same
"I wonder what sort of adventures everyone has while they're away. I like to try and think that they're pretty grand ones."
He said, trying to keep it on-subject...But cheery. Speculative.
[[Kind of delving into how my
He thought of the times he'd been outside of the Forest, in the other world that he had been born in... From the forest his fawnhood herd had lived in, to his wandering around as a human... "The world is pretty big, so I think they do," he said, catching onto the cheery speculation. He wondered if Oisín was having a grand adventure somewhere.
*pokes this out of boredom*
((Sorry, it's been
"Do you think he's the sort who could go forth, rescuing princesses and finding treasure?"
He asked jokingly, brightening his pace as they went. Seed had an adventure or two, on the side, but they were largely within the 'barriers' of the forest. These sometimes were pliable barriers, but they existed.
Scape couldn't help letting
Seed laughed along. "No,
"No, you're right...It takes a special sort. I think you could manage it, though."
He admitted. Scape had always seemed much bolder to Seed -- perhaps it was that Seed remembered his Scapecop days, and anyway, loved him and therefore thought him capable of nearly anything.
"Me?" he asked with minor
"It's true you're not the
Scape laughed again. "Yea, it
Worrying was the farthest thing from his mind now. He was glad to have a best friend like Seed, though it was too bad they didn't cross paths as often these days. He would have to fix that.
[[Ahh, the bro love. X] ]]
Seed's thoughts were about on
"Well, it's not as if the things mind, right?...Well, maybe one day, there'll be an adventure solvable by poetry. Then -- then, my friend, I shall have it made!"
He declared with a laugh. He could at least tell of others' adventures, for what that was worth.
"It will be the day of Seed."
"And what a grand day it will
He drew the car to a gentle
"There ya go, I won't be two minutes," Kylar promised.
Sorry this took so long. I don't really have an excuse.
[[I was blaming school
Toukan nodded, opening the car door and moving to step out before pausing for a split second as if debating something. He obviously reached a decision, leaning back in for a second to give the blond a quick peck before leaving the car and walking towards the front door.
He felt a little silly doing that, but didn't regret it.
-snort- It was me being lazy
It was rare that Kylar blushed - well, actually he blushed as often as a regular person; but it was compartively little compared to Toukan - who blushed all the time, but when he was surprised by the little peck that his lover gave to him before leaving, he felt his cheeks flare up and assumed that if looked at they would be red. He was almost glad no one could see him; Toukan liked to tease him, playfully about it when the silver haired man caught his boyfriend blushing. He drove quickly to park the car, unceremoniously dumping it in the space that he usually parked it in. His parking wasn't bad exactly, it was just usually not done with any finesse at all. The blond locked the car before walking quickly to the door of his home to catch up with Toukan.
"Want me to carry you upstairs?" Kylar chuckled as he asked.
Toukan had stopped right in
He was amused at being asked. Toukan could actually get up the stairs on his own - he'd done it enough times that he managed alright, if a little slowly. But... "I wouldn't mind."
Kylar smirked at the answer
With the door open, Kylar scooped Toukan into his arms, carrying him across the threshold into the building. That thought made him chuckle a little more, and peck his boyfriend's forehead.
Toukan didn't expect to get
"Indeed. I wonder if I could
He trailed off, sort of imagining what sort of day it would be. Well, not too much, since his skill-set is unsuited to creating a day of Seed.
"Oh, well,"
He said with a laugh.
Scape held back more
Kylar smirked a the sound
"Ye know how couples have things they do together?" Kylar asked suddenly, amusement present deep in his tone of voice, "I think we have a pretty weird one. Not Fifty Shades weird, but weird nonetheless."
...I feel he would read it. Which makes me ashamed of my own character.
'Fifty Shades weird'...? He
"What do you mean?"
"The Day Of Seed, perhaps?
Seed said, trying to think about it carefully. He'd want a holiday to make everyone happy.
"If you had a holiday, what would it be like?"
Scape blinked. "Me?" It was
Qutaita heard some
"Yeah, that just sounds
He said. He'd attended bland days, and they were very much a Scape sort of thing. Something was weighing on his mind, though. He walked a while in silence, his smile becoming thoughtful.
At last he said,
"I was thinking...We need a thing. Like...A counter-rut? Not a counter, but... Something that connects people the way the rut can, but, well...For everyone. But I can't figure out what it'd be."
RP: Qutaita was relived, not
OOC: I think its weird that the way I worm my way into RPs is to follow the character talking.
Scape blinked again, this
"Well, counter is the wrong
He muttered. The trees behind them rustled, and his ears perked up. They were sending him a message, but it was a good idea to vet their ideas with those around him.
"Huh. Did you hear something?"
"Any kind of group gathering
