@NikaGika: She hadn't
She hadn't realized she'd tensed up until Nika stepped back again. She wasn't used to anyone invading her personal space like that. Except maybe family, or the children she taught.
"Yes, I'm still alive and well." She wondered if that line of questioning meant the other was not. "So you're also from the human world?"
@Mick:
He wondered if Kylar might ask what he'd been lost in thought over. But he didn't. Toukan was relieved by this...and not. He knew he'd have to talk about his worries sometime. But for now, he allowed the change in subject...while mentally beating himself over the head for allowing the change in subject.
The reindeer tilted his head at the question - but quickly moved it back when the antler leaned a bit more. He was just delaying the inevitable at this point, but it's not like he wanted to force the process along. The last time he'd done that, it hadn't been pretty. It had been pretty painful though.
"I'm not really sure what I want..." he answered, frowning in thought. Actually...he did have an idea of something...but he hadn't been completely sure about going through with it.
(PAGE. WOO. \o/ )
"I was," she said looking at
Kylar chuckled at that, he
“Come on,” Kylar said, “Whatever prompted that little frown, you can tell me about. I won't get mad – I mean, I might not be able to get it for you and you know how I hate to disappoint, but I can't try unless you tell me what it is.” He chuckled at the end of that to keep it light – all of it was light because he wasn't really serious about it because it was just a present, surely that wouldn't drag the conversation into solemnity again? He couldn't imagine Toukan asking anything that he would really consider too much – unless he wanted Kylar to dance around with fawns in some sort of bizarre synchronised dance manoeuvre.
That thought caused a louder laugh to escape him, the mere image of it causing him amusement.
“Sorry, just imagined something so strange...so very strange.” He rolled the r of the second 'strange', a sign of his entertainment.
@NikaGika: She'd heard some
She'd heard some of the deer here had been reborn from lives outside the Forest. So Nika was as well. Interesting.
Suiren lowered herself to the ground as well, thinking it would be rude to remain standing while the other sat. "I assume I'm from the present...unless this forest is in its own timeline. In any case, for me it's the year 2013. A.D.," she added on just to be safe.
@Mick:
Toukan blinked, nearly tilting his head again but catching himself at the last second. "Ok..." He debated on asking what Kylar had imagined that was so amusing, but decided not to. For all he knew, it could be something about him. He must be quite the sight, standing around with one antler on his head that he was trying to keep from falling off too soon when it was obviously about to.
He tried not to snort at the image, instead giving in and answering the question. "Ok," he said with finality, "I've been thinking about getting my ear pierced." He hoped that didn't sound like a silly idea.
"2013?" she asked, amazed
Knights, kings, and queens?
Suiren could only blink at the rapid fire questions shot her way - still hidden behind her mask of course.
She was beginning to regret saying what year she was from.
She watched the doe and said,
713 years? So she was from
"Ah. Sorry. Can't say I've met anyone from 1300 before." Suiren attempted a chuckle. "I'm just not sure how I'd explain everything different between our times."
"I suppose that is true," she
She barely had to think of an
"Like a wizards and
Well that was certainly
“Well, I certainly hope you're not asking me to pierce it love,” Kylar teased in response, his usual mischievous smirk returning to his face, giving the youthful stag the appearance of the young and the reckless, “I can do many things for you, but piercing an ear isn't one of them, but I must say, I wholeheartedly approve of the idea, think you'd look quite sexy with an ear pierced. I could buy you something spectacular to wear – nothing too flashy, you aren't a lady, however pretty you may be.” Whilst he may tease about it, Kylar was telling the truth, the idea, now spoken aloud to him did seem appealing as he thought about something adorning his love's ear. It was an idea he had toyed with himself on occasion, when he had been younger, but Kahlan had granted permission either for it or for his angel tattoo, and he had wanted that more than he wanted the ear piercing, and after that had abandoned the idea – but as he thought on it more and more, it seemed like a better idea for his partner than it did on himself, so yes. Support it wholeheartedly he did indeed.
@NikaGika: She tried not to
She tried not to chuckle at the misunderstanding. "Not quite. I'm not really sure I can explain how it works."
@Mick:
After Kylar's teasing that he hoped Toukan didn't expect him to do the piercing, he wasn't sure if the comment of him being "pretty" was serious or not. Either way, he felt his face heating up from the words. He ignored it, attempting to regain his composure before he lost it. "Well, I'll let you choose something for me then. But, like you said, nothing too flashy," he teased his lover with his own words.
Any effect those words might've had were probably lost, as, at that moment, the reindeer sort of...flinched in slow motion as the stubborn antler finally gave in to gravity and fell to the ground.
Slowly, he turned his head to look down at it, studying the branch-like shape as if he'd never seen it before. It was always somewhat trippy to see them lying on the ground like that. Something he'd never get used to.
"Well. That was interesting timing," he said with a flat expression.
Her eyes try to search her
Seeing the other doe having
"I'm of Japanese descent -" Her Asian features reflected this. "- but I currently live in Scotland."
She had heard of Japan from
"What are those places like?" she asked curiously.
OOC: Sorry I didn't give her ref to you yesterday, I didn't have time. I can give you a quick description of the markings on her legs. The rest of her body (except her rump, which is the same color as the markings below) is black.
From hoof to knee her fur is the same color as her skin (like on her neck), and when the light color reaches her knee it tapers past her kneecap to a point. Same for her hind legs, except it pasts that first joint.
[[[Alrighty. I've added the
And I'm not sure I can answer this. I don't actually know enough about Japan or Scotland to describe anything and I'm not sure Suiren would have an easy time describing them either. |D; ]]
OOC: Okay! And I'll reword
"Do you like it there?" she asked, "And how do you travel freely from there to here? Do you use a portal?"
Suiren barely held back from
"Scotland is certainly an interesting place. I can't describe it in only a few words, but I do like living there." As for how she traveled...that was more difficult to answer... She tilted her head in thought. "Well...it's not exactly a portal. It's...I guess a type of teleportation. My brother taught me how, but I'm not really sure how it works." A pause. "I don't think he even does for that matter."
"Ah, I see," she said. Even
Sorry this is a bit late.
It took a moment to get past the shock of seeing the antler that had adorned Toukan's head, simply fall from it. It fell without ceremony, it seemed without warning, although Toukan might have had the sense that it was about to happen, he was unsure. It simply fell and upon hitting the ground, Kylar had to look at it a moment before regaining himself.
“It is indeed,” Kylar replied, before a thought crossed his mind, “So...if they just fall like that, how do you get them to Suiren?” This was a question that he had never really pondered before – but the other stag dutifully gave his antlers to Suiren every year, and she would carve things from them. Toukan tended to receive one as a gift for Christmas. They were lovely ornaments, and yet Kylar had never given much thought to their creation. “I mean how do you take things that....aren't attached to you back with you?” Kylar had often pondered such a question, he wasn't sure of transportation of objects between the two realms. His own method stripped him of any clothes he was wearing before entering the portal, but he was unsure of other objects.
@NikaGika: "Mostly for a
"Mostly for a change of scenery. I run my own business, so it's nice to take a break here when I can." Perhaps she would more often.
@Mick:
He stopped studying the antler sitting at their hooves to look back at Kylar, blinking at the question. "Uh...I just...do?" Then Toukan frowned, glancing away for a second as he realized something. "...I never told you how I travel back and forth, did I." It was more of a statement than a question.
"What kind of business do you
"I teach my family's style of
She tilted her head

@Nika: Ah, she had wondered
Ah, she had wondered if Nika wouldn't know what that meant. Hopefully her explanation would go over better than it had for electricity. "It's a fighting style. There are a lot of different ones, and they're all generally called 'martial arts'. Some can involve weapon use, but mine...typically doesn't."
@Mick:
Toukan snorted. "Yea...can't deny that, can I." He did still like sleeping a lot. "But yea, it does involve me sleeping. I keep a good picture of where I want to go in my head, and then I guess I sort of...teleport in my sleep." Then he had to toss in a joke with a smirk, "Sleep-walkers have got nothing on me."
"Ah, I see. It is like
Kylar chuckled at the joke,
"Should I be worried that one day you're going to just appear at my side because you've fallen asleep?" Kylar asked amused at the prospect, but with mock horror in his tone. It was certainly an interesting notion, that Toukan would simply appear next to him - he doubted that Toukan had that much control, otherwise he was sure it would probably have happened before now. Kylar had never had the ability to appear anywhere other than the forest where he kept clothes. Had he that power, that would make his life a lot easier, he could simply teleport directly back to his apartment.
@Nika: She nodded. "Exactly.
She nodded. "Exactly. Although..." Suiren added, glancing down at her hooves, "...I had to adapt it to a style more fitting for deer as well."
@Mick:
"Maybe..." he went along with it, shifting his eyes to the side as if he was up to no good. "You never know what might happen..." Then he snickered, dropping the mock seriousness. "Actually, I can only go back and forth between the two...'dimensions' I guess you'd call them. And it's easier to appear where I was last." ...which sometimes led to odd situations. Like that time he appeared under Illrose because she'd apparently found the exact spot he'd last been appealing to sit in. He almost snorted at remembering that time.
"May you show me?" she asked
Suiren tilted her head in
It would have been
“Probably just as well,” He smirked, “Wouldn't want you discovering all that secret plotting I do, making plans to keep you locked up...” He let his voice trail off to give the indication that he was thinking about it – which in turn actually had the effect of sending his mind down that train of thought. The train wandered into some rather interesting and not very wholesome places. He mentally slapped himself to send his thoughts in another direction – any other direction. Mature thoughts later, ya horny devil, he chided himself.
Toukan's brow furrowed in a
"I suppose there is nothing
“So, how is everyone else actually?” Kylar asked easily - tone laid back - to move away from the joke, “I haven't seen anyone in a little while.”
He'd almost started to feel
"Hmm..." He took a moment to sort his thoughts, remembering what everyone had been up to. "I haven't seen Oura in awhile, but last I saw she was doing alright. Sui's got her hands full with the business as always. She's even started giving Tundra some lessons." He chuckled a bit at that, recalling her pointing out that sometimes he had "reflexes like a sloth" and could do to be more observant. Even Kinsha was more mindful of his surroundings than the caribou was. Speaking of a certain ninja... "And Kinsha...well... He really needs to talk to Tundra," he continued with a bit of emphasis on the word "really".
Toukan couldn't remember if he'd mentioned to Kylar the "little" revelation Kinsha had revealed to him. But the fact he hadn't said anything yet was getting ridiculous. He understood being guarded after the last time, but how long had it been since Kinsha had admitted to Toukan that he liked his brother? A few months at least. He was tempted to shove them into a room together and lock the door.
"I would still like to see,
OOC: Sorry for the late reply!
Kylar chuckled as Toukan told
“Perhaps we should give them a push. It worked for us,” He commented, before the mischievous look that so often adorned his face, returned. There was always the back up plan – well it wasn't so much a back up plan, as an amusing idea that he assumed would actually have a fair chance of working with the two of them, “Or we get a couple days worth of supplies and lock them in a room.”
@Nika: [[Sorry I took so long
[[Sorry I took so long to get to this. I'm not used to RPing this character so it's more of a challenge for me. |D And I've been a bit unmotivated for the past few days cuz of an annoying head cold. I'm getting over it now at least. ]]
"Hmm..." The green doe looked around in thought, searching out a good area to demonstrate.
Ah. Her eyes fell on the nearby rocks Nika had been sharpening her antlers on earlier. Those might do.
She nodded to herself, before getting to her hooves and focusing back on the other doe. "I suppose I could show you a thing or two. But as I said, I'm pretty rusty at the deer version of this fighting style."
@Mick:
[[This seems a little choppy to me, so I hope it comes across the way I intended it to.]]
Toukan couldn't help the "uh-oh" that passed through his thoughts at that look. That was the "Kylar's having devious thoughts" look. Usually it meant an idea that might make the caribou blush. Or a different caribou along with a golden-colored stag in this case.
He wasn't really disappointed. Yet...
Blink. "...you kind of read my mind..." ...that was eerie.
"...minus the 'supplies' part though... Of course, his boyfriend could have meant that innocently and not the way Toukan had taken it.
"I am sure you will do fine,"
OOC: It's alright! And you're fine!
"Well I suppose then they
"I don't even think it would be that hard...I could just say I needed Kinsha to help me with a present for you, and I'm sure your brother trusts you..."
@Nika: [[It's been awhile
[[It's been awhile since I've written an action scene like this before, so this should be interesting. 8D; ]]
She stepped towards the rock, sizing it up as if it were an actual opponent. Or perhaps to decide on the best spot to hit and in what way.
Nodding as if satisfied, the green doe took a step back, placing her hooves in some semblance of a fighting stance - angling her body so that one side's hooves were forward more than the other's. She stayed like this for a moment, focusing on the rock and releasing a calming breath...before rearing forward in a graceful and fluid manner, then striking forward with her front hooves in a quick succession of strikes that took little chips out of the rough surface and landing back in a similar position to how she started.
@Mick:
It took a second, but that smirk made Toukan roll his eyes, getting the double meaning to the words Kylar had said. "I guess that depends on how hungry they are at the time..." He made no indication of how he meant that to be taken. But it was probably obvious.
Now, as for how the actual "locking in a room" would happen...
Toukan tilted his head at the start of a plan Kylar laid out. He'd have to figure out exactly how to deal with Tundra, but... "...this could work...maybe. Just keep up those good acting skills of yours so Kinsha doesn't get suspicious."
He couldn't believe they were actually discussing this. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and those two could apparently use all the help they could get. Or at least Kinsha could. Tundra seemed oblivious from what he could tell, unless he was just good at hiding things.
Nika smiled as she chipped
“My love, for you I will act
“The question that remains is, do you want to actually do it?” He asked curious to get to the heart of their conversation.
@Nika: There was a hint of
There was a hint of pride to her voice she couldn't quite hide. "I've been practicing almost my whole life. So nearly twenty-five years. But," she added, turning to face the other doe, "I don't consider myself a master yet. I still have a lot to learn."
@Mick:
Toukan lifted a shoulder in a sort of shrug. "Not going to lie. I'm tempted." He huffed. "It's obvious they could use all the help they can get.
"And I'm sure whatever you do would be Oscar material," he added with a smirk. "But...something also tells me we should wait before interfering. Maybe until after Christmas. Just in case our favorite ninja has something planned."
"I am sure you will get there
"Oh?" Suiren was always
"Yes. It is a bit more
Suiren blinked, a hint of
"I'm guessing it was necessary for survival for the time you're from."
"I suppose a little. Though,
