Sushi for the Soul - Chemical Pie Recipe

Sushi for the Soul index

This is a recipe I got from my chemistry teacher in high school. Don't worry, it won't kill you - it actually tastes really good! It's called a "Chemical Pie". Try it out sometime, you'll be really surprised as to what it tastes like!

---------------------

Materials:

2 Deep Dish Frozen Pie Crusts, thawed

1 Aluminum Pie Plate

1.5 cups of Sucrose (C12H22O11) (Sugar)

1.5 teaspoons of Potassium Bitartrate (KHC4H4O6) (Cream of Tartar)

Ground Cinnamon

Stove

Box of Townhouse Crackers, light buttery flavor

1 teaspoon butter

2 cups of water

2 quart cooking pot

1 wooden mixing spoon

measuring cups

Procedure:

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F, while boiling 2 cups of water in the cooking pot.

- Before the water boils, mix the Sucrose and Potassium Bitartrate together, then pour the mixture slowly into the water.

- Place 25 Townhouse crackers into the pot, one by one, and boil them for three minutes.

- Pour the mixture into the piecrust and sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon and a teaspoon of butter with the mixture.

- Place the second piecrust atop the first, cut slits to allow air to pass through, and bake for 25 minutes.

Sushi for the Soul - Index

Hello everyone. Well now that I've been in kind of a more relaxed mood, I wanted to introduce a new segment called Sushi for the Soul (it's a parody of Chicken Soup for the Soul). I will feature a variety of things in this series to make your day, whether it be simple musings, photos, music, and so on.

Entries with Ê next to it just means it was from an e-mail my family sent me that I wanted to share with you.

Am I becoming the real me?

This is more of a personal entry, but you're more than welcome to comment on it.

I think I've been transforming as a person. I cannot say what sparked this sudden new mentality I have, but I've noticed that I seem to be replacing some of my old personality for others that are revolve around nature, natural beauty, symbolism, and so on.

I kind of like it, really. I'm not so concerned with material things as I used to be, but rather what lies ahead of me in life.

You may have noticed some of my posts lately have been looking into the future. I think this may have a big impact on what I've been interested in lately. Knowing that I'll soon be graduating and making a decent living, and then thinking about things I could do to make my life more enjoyable...it's been pretty interesting.

Below is a list of things I've either been thinking about doing, or have incorporated into my life. I'll provide links to topics I've posted or to other sites that are relevant.

- I want to incorporate an energy efficient, recycling lifestyle. I tried this out lately, and it'll take some getting used to, but I think I can adopt this kind of system when I own my own house.

- It might not happen, but I've dreamed about living in a Cabin-style home.

- I plan to shop with local businesses and farmers markets when I move to my own place.

The Deadly Trio - Iugulare, Anirapio, and Nekumbra Art Gallery

I wanted to put the gorgeous artworks of my three baddies into one topic, so here they are. Thanks a bunch to everyone who have done artwork of them and gave a hand toward their designs.

Have an artwork of Iugulare, Anirapio, or Nekumbra you've made? Post here and I will be forever grateful!

"Don't be a treehugger"

So yesterday while on break a coworker came in. While we were talking, I mentioned that I was going to graduate soon. He asked what I was going to do in my field (geology). I said I wanted to do Hydrogeology.

He laughed and said, "Basically you work with a water hose."

The other coworkers laughed. I didn't. Anyway, he continued, "You should go work for an oil company and make some money." I shrugged, "Well, I could, or I could do some environmental work."

He immediately responded with a scoff followed by, "Don't be a treehugger, Chris."

....Since when does the word 'environmental' associate with 'activist'? Sure, some people don't care what happens to the world - they'd rather make money, own 5 cars, have a mansion, and think that would make them happy.

I read the newspaper and everything I see is corruption and poverty. And instead of anyone doing anything about it, they'd rather be like my coworker and laugh at people who are going into a field that might do 'environmental' work.

Whatever - people who think that being rich and famous is all that are fools. All this power, greed, and self glorification is what makes me sometimes ashamed to be human.

People are calling for help. Poor towns, cancer victims, farmers, the homeless, and even nature herself. And guess what happens. Nothing, people just keep hording their riches and showing off how much better they are than everyone else.

Really, who cares? They're going to die and all their belongings are going to be squabbled over by relatives who are just as greedy. It's a neverending cycle.

This is why the things I personally treasure are made from the heart. The different things I bought from TEF members, I'll always treasure those because I know that someone actually cared enough to make them for me.
