I've wanted to tell Saosin's story for many years now. It took me a long time to feel confident that I could actually do it some justice, and when my dear friend suggested that we have our old characters reunite I could think of no better way than to have it be narrated by her doe. And so here it is.
For members who may be new or unfamiliar with my character this post might be a little hard to fully comprehend, so here's a brief summary of my journey;
I created
Saosin in the year 2010. Back then I didn't have him pieced out as a character yet, I just knew that I wanted him to be red in color, smell of the sea, and have a volatile and deeply passionate personality. Incidentally his name also translated to "little heart". Piece by piece, I shaped his story based not only on characters and players that I met but around the concept of the game itself;
the crying Idol that supplies the forest with water from its never-ending stream of tears, the red pelt you get when walking through it, the surrounding poppies, the forest's
twin Gods represented as their statue counterparts, as well as the occasional red pond and falling petals
weather changes. Since I happened to arrive around the time that
Baal shook the community with his story about the murder of a fawn called
Ghost, I found it to be the perfect catalyst for my unruly character's creation. In the beginning, Saosin made more foes than friends. Eventually he met the monarch butterfly-pelted doe known as
the Black Swan. Canonically she is the bible of the forest, there since creation and described best by the quote "her pelt is stained with the ink of all recorded history". Even the fact that she has the face of a deer rather than human pertains, considering that the very first TEF
prototype featured regular deer. Our characters met in the rain and fell for one another fast, with all the ups and downs of young love. Despite eventually parting ways, Saosin never stopped longing to be with her. He found solace in his then rival, nicknamed
the Red, whose
death some years later hit him hard. He made many other friends in his lifetime, such as the duo
Riptail & Cutlass, whose close relationship he admired, and
Spyrre, who stood out to him because of her overwhelming goodness and light. She ended up joining him in his return into the crying Idol on his supposed passing - his dormancy within the endless ocean from whence he came to be - in 2017 when I felt that his story had come to a depressive standstill.
Characters featured here belongs to

...Oh, and of course Saosin immediately went back to collect the most loyalest of little deer, his most treasured friend - and now squeaky clean - the one and only Spyrre!

breathtaking, fenominal,
Just today I heard Saosin's
It reflects the atmosphere of the forest so well. Impressionistic, natural, it's like a mirage you see on the horizon. The perspective warped transitions are amazing. Immersive, it's like a freefall. I enjoyed reading/viewing it very much!
Beautiful as always, Jin.
