Goodness! I can't believe Quad's almost 9 years old! I registered close to Halloween because I saw this on Deviantart:
And just wanted to know what the heck this Endless Forest was. Didn't know it was going to completely change my life, and that Quad would be a good friend to me for almost a third of my life.
Thanks for continuing to be an amazing community, guys.
Good news, guys - I just got

A little more good news today
I got an e-mail from another company I applied to:
"Thank you for submitting your application to the Mississippi State Personnel Board (MSPB). In reviewing your application, it has been determined that you meet the minimum requirements of the position identified below.
Requisition Number:
Job Title: Geologist-In-Training (your application for this job opening expires within one hundred and twenty (120) days
Your application has been placed on the eligible list and forwarded to the hiring agency for further review. After their review, should the agency wish to contact you for an interview, they may do so by e-mail, telephone or written correspondence at their discretion."
This job is with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) in Jackson, MS, which is only 3 hours away from Mobile. So I'd be closer to Mom and farther away from my brother and sis-in-law in Georgia.
So if this company wants an interview as well, I'll go ahead and schedule it. I'm just glad I have two potential opportunities now, both in Mississippi.
Just a little update from me.
So tomorrow I'll make some phonecalls and see if I can find an apartment anywhere close to my potential jobsite in northern Mississippi. Best case scenario is that I'll find an available apartment in the town just south of the job (about 20 minutes away). Worst case scenario is that I'll have an apartment near Memphis, about an hour away.
I should hear back from the job Wednesday or later. There's also a possibility I hear from the other job in Jackson, MS. Just hoping one of them is my future job.
Crossing my fingers for you,
Hey sorry I haven't updated
So yesterday I drove from my brother's house near Chattanooga, TN, to Corinth, MS where the job fair was located at. Well...about when I got to Florence, AL, I went to a gas station, and then next thing i know my eye has flared up again. You guys may have remembered me talking about this, I have an annoying condition where my eye will randomly get red and stingy, and I get very light sensitive.
So I managed to get to the job fair, and went ahead and went in. I just said I had allergies and that was why my eye was so red. Well after about an hour I got to meet the lady I spoke to on the phone. So we had our interview and she said it'll be next week before I knew anything, but honestly it sounds like I have the job.
I found a hotel and spent the rest of the day sleeping, trying to get my eye to calm down. It never did, so today Mom helped me find an eye doctor. Thankfully they were just down the street, so I went and got a bandage contact put in. I'm already feeling better, though the redness hasn't gone down yet. It usually takes a little time for that.
So I'm spending the rest of today relaxing, and then tomorrow I'll get back on the road and head home. At least my eye has been tended to, and hopefully next week I'll get a call that I have the job. I was going to try to find an apartment somewhere around here, but of course with the eye issue, I wasn't able to.
Little update - eye is still red but feels better. I walked down to the gas station nearby and got a few snacks. I'll be okay tomorrow driving, I know my eye will be better tomorrow anyway
Made it home safely. It's
Eye is still red but I'll be alright. We have an appointment with my eye doctor on Monday so he can take a look at it.
Also I stopped in a little town on the way home with a funny name - Scooba, MS
Can't remember if I'm already
Hey guys... They picked
They picked someone else. I didn't get the job.
What? :< Dang, it really
.
@ Meadow - Hey there, sorry
Hey there, sorry I didn't get to your post earlier, I was pretty bummed I didn't get the MS job. I'm glad there are others who identify as asexual as well, it seems like there aren't a whole lot of us XD. I'm not sure if you know about them, but a good resource on asexuality is The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN). That website really helped clear things up for me and answer many questions I had.
I've learned over the years how valuable it is to accept yourself, and how good it is to just be yourself and not let people try to convince you to be someone else. I tried that once and it just didn't work, I wasn't happy when I tried to put on a mask and be something I wasn't.
Thanks for your words and thoughts. I know something will come soon, and the life I've wanted will be here soon enough
---------------------------------------
Just a little update from me - I'm still job hunting, but I've decided I will do some volunteer work on the side while I'm looking. There's an Environmental Studies Center down the street from where I live, and I contacted them recently about volunteering there. They said they'd be happy for me to come volunteer and to contact someone next week for more information.
In addition, in a few weeks I will take a training course on etiquette and safety with children, and once I pass it, I'm going to be a guest speaker at my elementary school. I'll get to bring my rock and fossil collection, talk about what a geologist does, talk about different rocks, fossils, and minerals, and such. I've got these few weeks to plan and prepare it since I'll be teaching about a 45 minute class, and I think Mom said I'll be teaching six different classes (Grades 6, 7, and 8, two groups of kids per grade). Once I'm all done, the principal will give me a certificate that I've done volunteer work there, so it'll be something else to add to my resume
sfasdfasfadsfaf guys!! I may
Waste Connections, the same company I applied for with the gas monitoring job in Mississippi, just called about another landfill job in Angleton, TX! They said they'd call by the end of the week with more info
I think it was a combination
I think it was a combination of a few things, but since last night, I've fallen into a depression rut. I think it was both the realization that I'm back to square one with my job hunt, but also finding out dragons I spent a long time saving up for on Flight Rising are now very cheap and easy to get.
I've felt like I've been in a hole all morning. I don't know how else to explain it. I feel worthless.
I need to be doing something so that I'm not sitting on this computer all day. I think I've fallen back into an internet addiction when I have things I should be doing around the house.
Feeling better. I think accepting that my 'valuable' dragons aren't valuable anymore...and that it's just a game, that kind of helped.
Part of the other reason why I was feeling so down lately is that I feel like I'm going to be mediocre the rest of my life. You see people that are masters of one thing, and that's their life is that one thing. But with me, I'm a jack of all trades, I like a lot of different stuff, but I don't think I'll ever be able to master or be an expert at any one specific thing. I know that sounds dumb but it's like...I like trying different things out but I never stick with one thing to be my thing.
I don't know if I'm learning about too many things at once, or what. It's like I take on too many projects and then end up not really completing them or just doing a little with each. Why do I feel like it's wrong to do this or that I'll never really get anywhere in life?
-----------------------------
I've sent off a few more job applications today, and also went to an environmental center down the street to see if they could use a volunteer. So I'm in their list for volunteers now, sounds like what they can really use is someone to feed the animals they have on site. I only got to look around a little this morning but I saw a few alligators, some turtles, and a funny crow that was hopping around a cage. I'd love to feed their animals for them, that would be very fun and wouldn't even seem like volunteer work for me.
Just a little update from me
No new e-mails from any jobs I've applied to, but I've been sending out applications just about every day.
I'll be doing my volunteer class Tuesday and Wednesday for the 6th and 8th grade classes at my elementary school, I'm actually kind of looking forward to it. I'll be talking about the different kinds of rocks and things for the 6th grade (Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic, Fossils, ect) and talking more about chemical changes to rocks for the 8th grade (weathering, ores, crystal structures, ect). Also in both I will have a section all about groundwater, porosity, and why it's important to recycle.
In addition, I'm bringing my rocks and fossils to show off, and will have demonstrations and examples of some of the things I'm talking about. The best part for me is that this will be something I can put on my resume.
I'll let you guys know how it turns out. I'm teaching four classes of roughly 30 kids in total, so about 120 kids or so.
--------------------------------
The only other news I really have is that my mom and brother ended up catching the virus I've had all week, so both of them have been feeling awful today. I feel really guilty that they got it, but I guess there's nothing you can do, right? Sounds like they both may take tomorrow off and stay home for the day.
--------------------------------
Holy cow! So my aunt was talking with someone she knew, and it turns out that the person's brother works for a company that hires geologists! Furthermore, from what she said, they're desperately looking for field technicians to go out and take samples.
Exactly what I want to do!
So I got his contact info and sent him an e-mail with my resume! The office I'd be working for is in Ohio about an hour away from where my aunt lives, so that's cool. One of my 'dreams' for when I was working was that I had a state all to myself so that my friends and family could come visit me and I could show off the local towns and stuff. I have a few other odds and ends of 'dreams' that would make my career perfect, that's just one of them. I would have had it if I had gotten the Mississippi job, but ah well.
So the nice thing about this is that I *think* I'd be working more for a petroleum company, but I could be doing Environmental applications. I'd really be happy doing both and having a bit of each field under my belt. It's the jack-of-all-trades thing you know . I'll keep you guys updated if I hear back.
Ooh, nice! I hope it goes
So...I have a bit of
I've gotten two potential jobs in my future -
I may be getting to do an internship in Africa. If it works out, I'd be helping with water resources in Ghana. I'll be meeting with one of the representatives of the company later this week to talk about it.
And also my aunt in Pittsburgh has been telling someone she knew about me, and it turns out that I could get a job as an field sampling technician up in Ohio, and it sounds like they may offer to hire me as early as next week. So I'll have a phone interview with them sometime too.
-------------------------
Update -
I e-mailed the company concerning Africa and said that I appreciated the consideration, but due to my student loans and lack of experience, I'd be afraid I wouldn't be useful for them. I was glad they were really understanding about the situation and even said they'd see about helping me find somewhere to start my career.
I'm waiting to hear back from the Ohio company now. They said that if they didn't get to me today, they would later in the week.
Also the teaching went really well both yesterday and today. The 6th grade class had a lot more questions than the 8th grade, but I enjoyed both days. I offered to teach their 7th grade classes, but the teacher said that the 7th grade seemed to be their 'troublemakers' and that it was a privilege for them to have a guest speaker. However, he said if they behaved themselves that he'd be happy for me to come and speak to those classes.
So the great thing for me is that this is something I can add to my resume. And it was a lot of fun too, even if I was nervous for most of it.
Just an update - I've
I've revised my resume and added my recent volunteer experience. From what I've heard that really helps your resume look good, but the teaching experience was fun itself so yeah.
I also have applied to four new jobs today - Canton, OH; Waynesburg, OH; Roswell, GA; and Tallahassee, FL.
Still waiting to hear from my aunt's friend's brother in Cadiz, OH too. I'm really shooting for a job in Ohio as you can tell XD
---------------------------------------------
Also the past few nights I've been finding myself incredibly bored after maybe 10:00 PM. I'm trying to think of something to occupy my time until I get tired, like right now it's 12:22 AM and I'm absolutely wide awake. I know I could be playing the games and coliseum on Flight Rising but sometimes you just get...burnt out on playing the same thing over and over.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've been thinking about starting a new game on something, or...I don't really know. Just tired of sitting here trying to think of something to do late at night.
(No subject)
^Adorable!
That's so cute Quad! Have
Have you ever tried Borderlands or Terraria? Completely different kinds of games but both are so much fun and have alot of replayability too. I could hook you up with a copy of Terraria (I got an extra) and the update just recently came out so there is much more to do and get
I'm a huge fan of
I decided to try to get back to reading, if at least an hour or so. I started reading Ender's Game tonight since the movie is coming out at the beginning of November, and got three chapters read. (It's surprisingly short chapters, which is good for me considering I have a bit of a reading disability.) I'm already enjoying the book and should not have any trouble getting it read by the time the movie comes out.
----------------------------
Oh one other update, I'm going to start calling the local Catholic elementary schools and see if any of them would like me to come as a guest speaker like the volunteer work I did at my old school. It would give me a little more to do while I'm sending job applications out, and of course the more I do, the more I can add to my resume
My BFF and I have "beaten"
And I am more than willing to give you a copy of Terraria I always buy an extra copy when it's on sale just to give to friends who show interest ^^
Reading is a good thing to do too, though I am not much of a reader unless I am rping xD
Awesome, thank you so much!
Also uhh...let me know what character you would like an artwork of like what I did above
Oh that's not necessary! I'm
Got it and downloading now.
And you're still going to get an artwork from me. Such pretty characters to draw X3
ENJOY
Blalaufghgzsguslog;zejsg;
okifyouinsist I'll leave it up to you hehehehehehe
Ender's Game is all kinds of
On an unrelated note, you were a guest in a dream I had last night. I always thought a 'Quadraptor' sounded like a dinosaur, so you were a composite of your real self and a cute black t-rex/dragon type of thing. Shame I cannot remember what we were doing (building/project perhaps), but my dreams have not been very cohesive lately.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. I don't dream about TEF often, and it's members never. So. Glad you could stop by
Okay Soliloquy...I only have
I seriously lost track of time playing last night, ended up quitting at about 1:30 AM. I couldn't figure out how to build things at first, and then next thing I know it's night time and there's zombies everywhere. I got killed about three times before I finally got the hang of it. The last one was the most humiliating, of all the things that are out there to kill me, it was a freaking flying fish that did it!
But I have kind of like a tower with an underground area, and a long tunnel. Oh and a zombie trap XD. I'm having a lot of fun with this, especially digging caves.
---------
Deyna - I wanted to read it because of a few things, I love science fiction, the short chapters are great, and I wanted to try to get it read before November 1st when the movie comes out XD. Someone recommended that I'd like it since I really enjoyed reading Starship Troopers, and it does have the same sort of feel to it.
Aww that's awesome, the name is dinosaur related because when I made it, I was obsessed with Jurassic Park and Velociraptors. Still am really, I'm even planning on getting raptor claws tattooed on my feet. But yeah that's great, I'm happy I could be a part of your dream. I think I've had one or two dreams where a TEF member was in it, I want to say RedKora was one of them, don't remember who else.
Omg I am glad you're having
Also avoid the jungle (you'll kinda know it if you get there), it's a bit hard, though passing over it should be easier than going underground. It's ridiculous under there.
And alsoooo avoid the Dungeon (opposite direction from wherever the jungle spawned). You can run in and gather the stuff on the top level, but doooo noooooot go down else you will die a horrible death xD
I'll let you figure it out, it's so much fun and theres so much to get!
I've seen the red area, and
I've mostly been exploring caves and stuff now, though I may look around above ground and see what else I can find. I got killed by a boulder today though. That was depressing XD. I found a treasure chest though so that was cool. I got far deep enough to where I was fighting jellyfish.
Only at wood armor right now, but I've been finding a lot of different ores so I'll see what new stuff I can make.
The Red area is new with the
Keep an eye on the ground while youre in the gaves, because if you see a small little lump on it, it's probably a pressure plate. There are a few traps that there could be; you already met the boulder. Then there are the dart traps which poison you, but those dont instantly kill you. But then there are explosive traps which instantly kill you. They stinnnkk! I got killed by them twice in the same area. I was so bummed LOL
Keep an eye out for heart crystals and chests, you can find so many things!
That picture is really cute!
Hey guys, I hate to ask, but
I hope the links work. Anyway all you have to do is 'like' both pictures, as the ones with the most 'likes' will win. The winner will get a pewter pendant from Art by Aelia, and it ends on Halloween.
Thanks a bunch XD
Misty-Lantern
Happy Halloweenie
Hey how cool is this? I saw
"Cacti are the best in reducing radiation and bacteria.
Cacti are very strong in eliminating bacteria. In tackling pollution, cacti are also great at reducing radiation. In addition, cacti absorbs carbon dioxide at night to release oxygen. Putting cacti in the room is helpful in sleeping and supplementing oxygen."
"Aloe is dubbed as an air cleaning expert. One pot of aloe is equal to nine biological air cleaners. Aloe absorbs formaldehyde, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide."
I'm thinking about nicknaming each one after my Deadly Trio. Iugulare would be the 'buttkicker' on the left, Anirapio would be aloe vera, and Nekumbra would be the cactus on the right with the softer bristles. XD *weirdo*
I'll be heading over to
I was really, really hoping my aunt's friend in Ohio would call today so that I would be heading up to Pittsburgh again instead of going to Louisiana, but...I can't pass up an opportunity to meet with oil and gas professionals and get some exposure. I'd rather be living more north since the climate would be better for me... ah well, who knows what'll happen.
I'm trying to decide if I'm
Eh...so I guess a vote would help. Would you guys want me to write something this year? Even if it's not 12 stories, maybe...a couple? I don't really know.
What about asking for some
Thanks for the suggestion, I
-----------------------------
Good news on my end, I've got an interview with a local company! It's located in Semmes, AL, about 25 minutes from my house.
If I got the job though, I think I'd want to get an apartment closer to it...
------------------------------
The interview went really well, it sounds like a pretty cool job. They send technicians to manufacturing plants all over the southeast (Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, all of Alabama, ect), and they take equipment and record data involving gas emissions and things like that. He said I could even be going as far as Nebraska!
He said they'll let me know in a week or two if I have the job, they're hiring 1-2 new people for it.
Good job on the work search
Cheers to you.
Hey guys, my mom made some

In addition, a friend of mine near Pittsburgh sent me some information about a company up that way that is looking to hire. So I contacted them with my resume as well.
Waiting to know if I have this job down here or not is absolutely killing me, haha!
War eagle BU
Edit - removed my post.
Hope you don't worry about it
It's tough out there right
*nuzzle* Someone once told me that all effort and hard work does pay off, though it may not be when or how you expected it to. Hope you feel better, Quad, truly.
.
I'm doing better tonight,
I went ahead and applied to a couple of grocery stores, hoping that maybe I can do some part time work and start saving up some money while I'm still searching. Maybe that's the solution.
Anyway, I'll be doing some volunteer work tomorrow morning, so maybe that'll get my mind off of it. And who knows, maybe the company will call me on Monday. Maybe I will have this job after all.
Thanks for the support guys *nuzzles*
Hey guys, I hate to ask, but
I was just pressured again tonight about getting a job, and I know my time is running out before student loans are due. And after what was said, I feel like I'm nothing but a burden to everyone.
I've been meaning to put this
We were on our way to dinner and I spotted this little guy in the restaurant's garden, and it made me think of you :3
I hope you feel better, Quad. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you're a good guy. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Also, this.
