Updates september 27th, 2022;

Fixing a lot of stuff around on bios while I try to get back into things <3
Tried to get back into TEF last year as well, but then my dog's health declined and in the beginning of december last year she had to be put down, my best friend for close to 15 years.

This took such a heavy toll on me and I think was a major reason for why I was unable to get back into TEF. But yeah, new attempt! So if you ever spot any of my characters in the forest, pls don't be afraid to say hello to them or poke me on discord or something <3

( Lol, you guys. xD )

For a moment it was only the red bull that filled her mind. All the ups and downs they had had, the peace when they finally came to an agreement that seemed to work for all parts, and then the pain when he all of a sudden turned against her again, for the last time. Illrose still had no idea what had gotten into him that day, but it really didn't matter anymore. She shook her head slowly to get rid of the thoughts, then looked back at Phaios, a faint smile forming her lips.
"Sometimes I wonder how old you really are." Illrose chuckled slightly as she gave the doe a gently nudge.
"Thank you."
Phaios's picture

Phaios laughs; it wasn't the

Phaios laughs; it wasn't the first time she'd heard such a statement. "Eight! At least, I think so." She peers upwards at Illrose again, still smiling. "Old, where I come from, but it seems rather young here."
Snowsauria's picture

Eight. Illrose had no idea if

Eight. Illrose had no idea if that was young or not according to the lifespan of a regular deer, but she knew the two-legged creatures - humans - were young when they were eight, and a dragon was definitely young at that age.
"Well, perhaps it makes more sense then, if eight years is old where you come from, but you still look too young to be so wise." Illrose shifted to sit in a better position, and scanned the area for a moment, before her eyes went to rest at Phaios.
Phaios's picture

A quiet hum of amusement

A quiet hum of amusement reverberates within her throat. "I wouldn't call it wisdom so much as experience, unfortunately. A lot happens in eight years. You see a lot of things." Although the smile still lingers, her eyes are fixed on a point somewhere leagues away as she gazes beyond the birches. "You don't have to be wise to learn. Just observant."
Snowsauria's picture

Experience. With a lifespan

Experience. With a lifespan like hers, eight years went by in the blink of an eye, and over the years she too had experienced a lot. But she still didn't feel wise, not like Phaios. Her eyes still rested on the other doe, and she tilted her head slightly, curious, as she realized how very little she actually knew about Phaios and her life before the forest - since it did sound like she too came from a different world.
"Any happenings in particular you are thinking of?" She asked gently, not really wishing to dig into Phaios' life if the other doe didn't feel like telling her. But it did sound like something difficult had happened in the past, and Illrose knew that sometimes it could help to talk about those things, to...share the burden.

( Meh, I gotta go now. But it was awesome to be with Phaios for a while. ♥ )

"Mm..." is all she manages

"Mm..." is all she manages for a little while.

"There are a good many... and they're all long stories. I suppose the most prominent is the time I spent held in the mountains against my will."
She suppresses a shudder. "My companion, Endriaga, was stolen from me and held for ransom - as was I - to force a treaty during war. We were rather battered by the end of it. They tore off one of her wings, which shredded mine. They crushed two of my legs so I couldn't run." The doe shakes her head, frowning faintly.
"I've seen our Mother, Fate Herself, fall to death and rise again. I stood against the Rainbow Sins and prevailed. I've seen war, and peace. I've seen mountains rise and vanish, and watched the world fade into the Blackness. I watched the first birth, and the first reborn. I've seen others saved and condemned by my own actions and inactions. I've seen a great many things..." A pause, and a quiet snuff. "And then this world. A place unto itself, and yet an echo that never ceases to surprise me." Phai shakes her head again. "The only real conclusion I've reached here is that I'll never understand deer... And that I rather like them in spite of it."

[We're always glad to see you and Illrose <3]
Snowsauria's picture

Kaoori; I'm glad. ♥

Kaoori;
I'm glad. ♥ It was great to be visited by Hoshiko.

Phaios;
Illrose remained silent, to give Phaios time to decide whether she wanted to speak or not. She herself would be fine with either, but if Phaios would decide to speak, Illrose would take that as a sign that the other doe trusted her enough to tell her. And when Phaios finally began to speak, Illrose perked her ears, and listened. What she heard was horrendous - but also very amazing.
"You had wings?" Was the first thing she asked, after a moment of just thinking about what she had heard. She had never seen deer with wings outside the Forest, not even in her own world, even though it was a world filled with magic and strange creatures. Illrose then shook her head slowly.
"It definitely sound like you have lived longer than for just eight years."
Phaios's picture

A lopsided grin flashes

A lopsided grin flashes briefly across her muzzle. "Yes. I did. They were a gift from my Mother when I earned my title. There were only a few of us." Phaios turns her head to touch the tip of her nose to her shoulder, where a prominent wing-shaped marking stands out in bold black fur against the rust-spattered brown of the rest of her body. "This is all that's left of them now. I miss them, but I think Endriaga misses hers more. We've changed a great deal in the Forest." The doe's brow furrows as she turns to study the larger deer and ponder something for a moment.
"I don't think you two have met, but she likes you. She says... 'smells of fire.'" Phai shrugs. "She's very vague about it."
As for her lifespan, "Things just tend to happen quickly, I guess."
Snowsauria's picture

Her gaze drifted toward the

Her gaze drifted toward the black marking on Phaios' should when the doe mentioned it. Illrose had noticed the markings before, but she had believed that was all they were; markings. A compassionate smile found it's way to her lips when the other doe spoke of missing her wings, and how the forest had changed her and the other doe she spoke of - she could easily relate to all of it. She too had missed her own great wings when she had been trapped within the forest, without the ability to turn into her dragon form. And she too had experienced how the forest changed her. Both body and mind. But now she could leave the forest when she wished to, and she had accepted the changes she had been through.
"No, I'm afraid I haven't met her." Illrose had to smile though. 'Smells of fire'. She did love the fire, and how destructive it could be despite it's beauty.
"Yes, they do. And I guess there aren't any chance you and Endriaga can get your wings back?" Illrose knew magic could do the most amazing things, but perhaps there wasn't enough magic in Phaios' world, or perhaps they didn't have the right magic to do such things.
Phaios's picture

"I don't know." The doe sighs

"I don't know." The doe sighs softly. "I suppose it's a question of whether or not we are called back home someday."
A frown works its way back into her expression. Somehow, that thought is bothering her more than it usually does. She wanted to go home... Didn't she?
"...And if there's anything left to go home to," she adds faintly.
Snowsauria's picture

Illrose's smile soon faded

Illrose's smile soon faded into a thoughtful frown, her heart aching for Phaios after hearing everything she had been through. Now she knew the doe wasn't just wise, she was strong too. Illrose didn't really know what to say, so in the end she decided to simply remain silent, as she lowered her head and allowed it to rest carefully - and hopefully supporting - on Phaios' back.
Phaios's picture

As Illrose touches her back,

As Illrose touches her back, Phai gives a small shake of her head to send those dark thoughts scattering again. "Ah... But in the meantime, it's nice here, isn't it?"
The doe lays her own head to rest on her knees, glad at least for the company. She could say a lot of things about the oddities in the Forest and its inhabitants, but she couldn't say she was unhappy.
Snowsauria's picture

Illrose brushed her skull

Illrose brushed her skull gently across the fur on Phaios' back a few times before she laid her head to rest - but still lightly, not wanting to put all the weight of her antlers upon the other doe's back.
"Oh, it definitely is." She agreed, and lifted her head briefly, just to pull of the mask. She placed it next to her, and put her head back on Phaios' back. Yes, this place was really nice, after all. Some of it's inhabitants weren't too awesome, but the forest was beautiful. Lots of food, and very few dangers. Almost no predators or anything.

I'll change that. This guy's unnamed currently, I'm just goofing around on him. xD He's based off the markings of a moorish idol (fish), but aside from that I really know nothing about him. |D; He'll probably just be for fun anyway, but it's nice to hang out with Terence and Maeve. ♥

Hackles immediately stand

Hackles immediately stand high on the ridge of the lioness' spine and her skull points accusingly down towards the young doe. "Don't you dare speak to me like that again Maeve. Look at me." The demon orders, her dark pair of voids finding Maeve's figure hidden behind the pink fur of the stag; they hold threateningly against her niece as she waits for her to reveal herself.

Whether or not Maeve has chosen to show her face, Umay decides to speak again, "When your mother says to you that Sax is not to be trusted, you do not go against what she tells you. Why are you making a hobby of upsetting and worrying Illrose? Is it that Sax is more important than your own mother? Tell me that." She expects an answer.

Her way of scolding Maeve perhaps seems too harsh, but Umay chooses this way to get her point across.

Her ears was pulled back,

Her ears was pulled back, upset with the whole situation. For a moment she buried her face even more into Terence's fur, too ashamed to face her aunt. Then, after a brief moment she realized she had no choice. Umay was right, she had been disrespectful. Slowly, she moved a bit to the side, so she could peek around the stag's chest and look at her aunt. Her head hung low, just as her ears, but she had a defiant expression while she shook her head slowly.
"Not more important than mommy. But Sax is my friend. She is not mean, she would never hurt me!" Maeve nearly stomped the ground in frustration, but quickly retreated behind Terence instead, when realizing she probably had addressed her aunt too boldly again. A bruise on her shoulder was aching, but her heart was aching more. Why did they all hate Sax?

( Haha, it's alright. :'D )

Obsidian eyes narrow as she

Obsidian eyes narrow as she listens to Maeve explain herself, but other than that she remains completely still and deathly silent. Despite understanding the female's reasons she refuses to accept it, especially not if Illrose won't.
Umay's reply comes quick, almost immediately. "You think Illrose would prevent you from befriending Sax for no reason? She doesn't want you having anything to do with that woman because she is protecting you from the danger she could cause. Sax is a threat. A threat not only to your mother, but also a threat to you. As long as you allow Sax close to you then it is more than easy for her to get to Illrose. It's going to destroy her when she finds out you're continuing to go behind her back. If Illrose is as important to you as you claim, then prove that to her. She doesn't deserve this, and neither do you. I don't want Sax to hurt you, you have no idea what she might be planning. Your mother and Sax are enemies, I don't believe she truly cares about you. She could be taking advantage of your trust and manipulating you. She might even go as far as to harming you in spite of Illrose. Do you really want to risk everything just for one being who's shown all of us reasons why we shouldn't trust her? Sax is dangerous, Illrose and I know this from experience." Her tone lightens, but barely. "Maeve.. I would never, never, make decisions for you, it is not my place to and I know very well that it isn't fair, I just want to make sure you're safe, because around Sax I know you're not."

Gah slow reply, took me a while to realize there was a new comment /fail
Snowsauria's picture

Maeve withdrew out of Umay's

Maeve withdrew out of Umay's sight - or at least she couldn't see her aunt anymore. She stared stiffly down into the ground, and was filled with more and more guilt as she listened to her aunt's words. Maeve knew it was wrong, going against not only her mother, but the whole family when being with the grey doe. But still, Sax was really nice to her, and Maeve didn't wish to see her. Somehow she had to get her family to understand this. Her ears perked up when she heard a slight change in her aunt's voice. She didn't sound as angry anymore. Maeve dared to move forward and into her aunt's sight once more, but she barely dared to look up at her.
"I'm sorry aunt, I know I shouldn't have gone behind my mother's back...or speak the way I did to you." Her gaze lowered to the ground once more as she apologized, before she glazed up at her aunt again.
"But I don't understand why you all say she is dangerous. Sax is really nice to me, and I am sure it's real, not just an act. The only times I've seen her do bad things is when she have been attacked by others, and that is not fair. She even tried to apologize for when she attacked Juliet! Why can't you try to give her a second chance? Perhaps she isn't as bad as you think." Maeve nearly held her breath when she was done speaking, and she had to resist the urge to hide behind Terence again, afraid her aunt would scold her once more.

( Awh, don't think about it, it's okay. n_n )

As much as Umay wanted to

As much as Umay wanted to leave Maeve to be happy, she didn't want to take any risks. Too skeptical of the gray doe after the impression she's been given of her and having witnessed certain things. "Because Sax causes trouble. She provokes your family by doing bad things, they only fight to protect each other." Frustration grows but Umay hides this well, it's only caused by the fact that she doesn't think Maeve will break away from Sax that easily. It's unlikely that anyone would want to leave their friend. "You don't know Sax's loyalty is real. She is an adult who is very capable of lying to get what she wants. It's easy to twist the truth, Maeve. I'm sure you know that." There's the slightest pause, a flick to her ears as they lift from their flattened state. Still, she seems tense. "Be smart and think about this. Why would Sax befriend her enemy's daughter? Would she really want anything to do with Illrose if she hated her so much? She's risking her own life by being with you, why would she go through all of that just to get to know the daughter of her enemy? She wants something more than to just be your friend. I'm sorry, but I don't believe she truly cares. You don't deserve to be used like that. Your mother won't allow it and neither will I because we love you. I can't tell you how much I hate to do this but no one wants to see you get hurt."
Snowsauria's picture

There was truth in what her

There was truth in what her aunt said, Maeve had to admit that. Because indeed, Sax did risk a lot to be with her - she had just seen that with her own eyes, from the brief between Umay and Sax. She was hit with a new pang of guilt, not only for her family, but for the grey doe as well. If it hadn't been for her, Umay probably wouldn't have approached Sax and attacked her just now.
"Perhaps she takes the risk because she really want to be my friend." She murmured, but didn't dare to speak the words out loud. Again her eyes drifted away for a moment before she looked back at her aunt.
"I will think about this, aunt, I really will. But I can't just stop being her friend, not when she is so nice to me. I think..I must see with my own eyes that you are right." There was something pleading in her voice, as if she asked for permission to see Sax if she took into consideration what her aunt had said, that the grey doe could be acting and really was dangerous. She felt terrible for doubting her family when they said Sax was nothing but trouble, but since Sax had always been so nice to her it would feel horrible if she should suddenly turn her back on the grey doe. Perhaps she simply had to learn the hard way that Sax was not the doe she believed her to be - unless she had actually changed into something better?

"Perhaps." Umay doesn't deny

"Perhaps." Umay doesn't deny this as being true, she's aware that it could be. "But we don't know that yet. If Illrose isn't allowing you near her, then that means she sees Sax is a risk to you."

Her stare remains on Maeve but instead it holds a less aggressive feel to it. She appears to have relaxed considerably. She takes a short moment to think, using the time to take Maeve's words into consideration. "I don't expect this to be easy for you, I know it won't." Another pause. "I might not tell your mother this time, as long as you really do think about my words. She just wants the best for you, you know? I'll let you two be together, but know I'll still be looking out for you. " Umay doesn't believe Sax is entirely evil and murderous, not at all, but Illrose's alertness has raised her suspicions. Plus, it didn't make sense to her for Sax to actually want to get along with one of Illrose's offspring.

Sax was nice to Umay too a while after brief conflicts had cleared up, but as long as her sister thinks Sax isn't healthy for Maeve, she'll remain distrustful of the gray doe and make sure to follow Illrose. After all, the dragon doe was the mother here, Umay wanted to make sure Maeve respected Illrose's wishes. "See you around. I'm sorry for earlier." A brief smile is shown, though hidden, before she turns to leave.
Snowsauria's picture

It was much easier to rest

It was much easier to rest her eyes on her aunt, now that Umay seemed to have calmed down a lot. It made Maeve relax too, but she still remained near Terence, perhaps finding strength in the pink stag's presence. And soon, a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Small at first, but it soon grew bigger.
"Thank you, aunt! And I will think about what you have said, I swear." Maeve gave an eager nod, before she rushed forward and buried her face into the fur of her aunt instead.
"I'm sorry too. I love you, aunt." She replied, muffled, before she pulled back, and nodded again, still smiling.
"See you later."
