That fateful night (For Teradeer contest)

***Slight gore warning***
My entry for Terabetha's contest...
It's short... but I tried lol
I apologize for any character mistakes ^^'

------------------

There are days when something just seems different. The hair on the back of your neck stands up, every noise makes you jump. You can’t tell what it is, but you know something is about to happen.
It was one of those days for Teradeer.

Moonlight shone down into the forest, dancing on the coat of a lone deer. An eerie breeze rushed through the trees rustling the leaves and causing a shiver to run up the spine of the deer. It walked slowly, ears set on a swivel. Something just wasn’t right. The deer didn’t even know where it was going, almost as if it was in a sort of dream-like state.
Every slight movement caused a twitch of muscle or a slight jerk of the head to the tense deer. It lifted up it’s head to draw in a breath of air, to catch a whiff of the wind. A strange scent made it’s brow furrow.
Almost against it’s will, the deer found it’s feet carrying it towards this strange scent to investigate.
The scent lead the deer up a winding path that wound up the side of a steep hill. The deer had a fleeting hope that what ever it found would be worth the climb. As it neared the top of the tall hill, the scent became stronger; it expected to come across the source of the smell shortly.
It didn’t expect that scent to find it first, though

Jumping seemingly from out of nowhere came a large, black wolf. In one spring, it flew out of the sheer darkness and into a ray of moonlight directly in front of Teradeer. It sported a toothy grin of gleaming, white teeth.
Teradeer jumped slightly as the predator jumped into it’s view. Although, the deer wasn’t terribly frightened by it; it had seen worse than a wolf. The deer held it’s head a little higher and peered down it’s nose at the canine.
The black wolf didn’t seem uneased at the lack of reaction.

Separated (Quad's short story)

There was supposed to be the song. That wonderful song they always sang. The high but wonderful notes in the sky, as they flew in the azure ceiling of the world. The azure blue always went beautifully with their bright red feathers.

But the song was not there this time. Only the eerie wind. He peeked out, looking for them.

Little did he know, him and his siblings were separated from their parents, forever.

He looked out at the beyond, the beyond he never saw or touched with his talons. He slowly climbed to the edge of the nest. The eerie wind blew though his unfledged body, giving him chills. Then... chirping. Where was it? Were they back? He turned around, but the song faded away, and they were not back. He slowly turned away and out of the beautiful forest that lay in front of him.

The song came back. He whipped his head back to see his siblings watch him fall, falling to the ground. He screeched, flapping his wings, but he fell, not flew. He landed, sending dust everywhere.

He was... alive. He was hurt from the fall, but he was alive. How did this happen? He was not supposed to fly until his feathers grew. But he fell. Not on accident or purpose.

Now, not only was he separated from his parents, he was now separated from his family.

He heard rattling. Why? Why instead of a song, he heard eerie wind and rattling? And now he heard a snarl, and teeth. Then another snarl, mixed with the sound of blood spilling. Pain. Blood. A hurt screech. Then the yelling. He closed his eyes. Would he die here? Would he never get to fly, to feel the wind blow though his feathers?

He opened. He saw no more teeth, he saw a creature, who looked down at his body. Blood, gushing out of his side. He whipped his head to look. He saw his unfledged body covered in blood, and his wing covered in blood, dangling from his body. He screeched in pain as the creature picked him up.

His wing, separated. Everything was separated.

Hours later, he awoke.

Want to be friends?

In the forest I met this fawn and I would love to make friends with her =) I recently saw her with purple flowers but someone else was casting antler spells on her so I am not sure what she looks like now. The fawn had two lines that looked like a M and I think a X on the bottom. I was hoping this fawn could be Natali's first friend?

Questions Questions Questions...

I hope all you wonderful people will be kind enough to bare with me as I establish myself on this forum.
I want to make sure I have everything straight before I start to become seriously involved with the TEF community, which mind you, will happen. I love it here. I love The Endless Forest.
But it can be confusing! Shocked Sooo, here's some questions:

-What exactly is "tracking" someone?

-I haven't RP'd much in my lifetime, so how would I become involved in a good RP for TEF?

-What is the best and easiest way to start RPing?

Those are all of the questions I can think of right now. I really appreciate all of the help I have been getting thus far. The TEF community seems to be a very welcoming and friendly bunch of people Smiling

Natali's Story Part 5

She woke up from sleeping in the Old Oak Tree and sat there a while listening to the gentle sound it gave off when a deer was near it. There was two other fawns in the tree and she didn't want to disturb them so she left. She went to The Pond and tried to waterwalk. For the third time it worked! She was walking on water! Then she lost her balance and splashed into the water. She tried two more times, gave up and drank some water. She was walking to the Crying Idol when she froze. There were skull masks and huge antlers everywhere! It was in a big group and Natali didn't know what to do. Should she flee? "No, I must overcome this fear of skull masks and big red antlers..." So she was walking towards them but stopped and decided to come back later when she was more calm. She played with some deer and fawn and what sort of looked like a mouse. Even gave a beautiful pelt and antlers to a sleeping deer. Then when everything was all calm she went to the big pile of her nightmares. She nervously sniffed them cautiously and stepped over deer bodies and sat down next to a white deer and a deer with a skull mask and a skeletion pelt. She decided to give the deer with the skeletion mask a gift and gave him a new pelt. She bowed and got a new pelt too! She smiled and sat down again. Then wandered and met new deer and played. She went to take a nap and had another nightmare. It was her as a newborn fawn trying to play with her mother and her mother not caring and backing away. She tried again and they started to back away. She went towards her parents and then they turned and ran off. Natali went after them and tried to run but her newborn fawn legs were too short and she kept on slipping. She sat there dirty with dirt on her body and face from slipping and went to the pond. Some deer were waterwalking. They tried to teach Natali how to waterwalk too. She was successful. Natali woke up with a jolt.
