-yes I did bump this, if anyone would like me to not please tell me and I wont again. :)-

Well I have noticed this place has really changed from the way it used to be. And of course not all change is bad. The community has expanded which is absolutely fantastic and more and more friendships have blossomed from it. Yet there have been a few things that have been annoying me lately and I believe if changed will improve this community. This site is about the game The Endless Forest, and honestly when I come here that’s what I want to hear about. With all respect I don’t want to hear about dragon eggs and writings & drawings that do not at all pertain The Endless Forest. After all that is what we should be talking about. I would much rather see diaries such as what your deer did today, the new people they met, and even their bios or updates. I’m here for the game and friendships above all else and that is the main reason I come to this place. None of us would have ever even been attracted here if it weren’t for the game. We are all a community that shares the same interest, which are The Endless Forest and our friendships that have developed from the game. I know some people will say, “ Well, we can do whatever we like, you can’t stop us”. You are most certainly correct. I cannot stop you, but I am asking you to keep what you post at least pertaining to The Endless Forest in one way or the other. Also I am not saying that off topic posts should completely dissappear just posted in moderations.

Next topic is the infamous drama that continues to happen here. First can we all remember we are on the Internet and fighting on the Internet is plain stupid? There is no reason to hurl insults through the Internet for all to see and go back to read as many times as they wish. I used to be a huge “Drama Llama” (causer of drama), but you know what? It was absolutely pointless. Why can we all not have civil conversations with one another? After all we are a community. Also know that fighting not only hurts the people involved in it but the entire community. People began to take sides and it really ends up damaging more than just one lovely friendship. Also you don’t know if someone is very hurt even through Internet fighting. Some people are more emotional than others and what you do can honestly affect a person in their real life. Basically drama, fighting, arguing needs to stop and I am sure everyone will agree with me on that. So can we all go out of our way to stop fighting? And the easiest way to stop fighting is to stop arguing. And I think this would help us all be a happier, closer knit community.

I would love you all to simply post your thoughts on this and anything else you think needs to be fixed. I will add it to the list. Feel free to voice your opinion if you disagree, you won't be argued with or scolded. If you agree with what I said please try to not make completely irrelevant posts and do not get involved in drama. Again any other this you think we need to change to become better community please post them!

I agree. I only joined roughly a year ago and it was far better than it is now. I admit, I post things unrelated to TEF, and I can't remember the last time I posted screenshots or diaries of what my deer did in the Forest one day. The community really is going downhill ;^;

I admire you idealism, but

I admire you idealism, but the way you put it makes me believe you think it's easy. And it's not.

First of all, I agree with you on the drama part. Yes, it is foolish to fight over things (like characters and mates) over the internet. But we're all human, we all have emotions. Sometimes something hits us personally, even if it's not meant to. That's not an excuse, but I believe there will always be some drama involved. Our community has evolved to what it is now, we can't go back.
But we can improve and I will certainly try my best to do so! I hope other people feel the same.

Same goes for the other drawings/writings that don't have anything to do with the community. But why not? A community is about people in the first place. I think everyone has the right to share their personal things, even though they don't connect to the game directly.
I can understand if it annoys you, but I don't see it as something we should get rid of. I like reading personal stories and looking at drawings, even though they're not game related. I'm interested in other people's work. Like I said, the community is about people. At least, that's how I see it!

Something we should get rid of are those dragon eggs. But believe me, there was a period when it was far worse than this. Only 2 or 3 people post a blog about them nowadays, and not even everyday. We already discussed that and the hype is slowly fading. It just takes a little patience

I don't think it will be easy at all. But Im hoping if more people set the example for others it will benefit all of us. Fights will always happen and they did even when there were a few of us. But they weren't to extent they are nowdays. We have emotions but there are better ways to let out anger and disagreements then causing a huge fight. I really did love the statement you made about us not being able to go back but improve. I liked that alot. Your completely right we can't go back but we can improve.

dragon eggs and non TEF stuff shouldn't be posted.I don't mean that it shouldn't be posted at all,but maybe we could just make one post with everyones eggs and keep them all there?I just mean it mustn't be posted in such amounts.
I also think we must get some moderators to control this kind of stuff.
But until we get moderators or something like that,we must control what we post our selves.at least the ones who 'agree'.I know it will be hard and not everyone will do that,but we must at least try to 'restore' this community.

I don't know, it doesn't

I don't know, it doesn't seem all that bad to me. I just tend to skip over things that aren't very TEF-ish unless it's a piece of art that someone needs help on or a discussion-promoting blog about general life, or something like that. I don't feel like off-topic stuff is overwhelming- it's usually one or two people that have a bunch of blogs that don't really add anything to TEF life or the boards.
Drama has been known to flare up now and then, but that's because we're a big group of mostly teenage girls. xD

I really like that idea about we have like one topic for dragon eggs and others off-topic stuff that can be put together. Yes, I think mods would help but, I also want to show Micheal that we love this community & game so much we want to change ourselves. Yes if the people who agree try to watch themselves and what they post I really think it will help. Trying is better than not doing anything and letting the community continue to go downhill.

Fledermaus(hopfully I got your name right XD): Thank you! I'm not quite sure how long you've been here but if you were about a year ago than it was much better. Drama rarely ever appeared and if it did it wasn't HUGGGEEEE! And there weren't many off-topic posts. Again, Thank you so much for you comments! And so true, many teenage girls means insanity, but if we learn to be a little more respectful on the internet it might help us in real life also.

I just say why hurl insults in text? Honestly it makes me laugh when somone does it to me over the internet. I can't see your emotions and you can't see mine. Writing does not convey emotions the same as a fight in person. Also you don't know the person your fighting with. You merely know what they have chosen to share about themselves, that person could be really instable, or a very nice person, or a very mean person. It could affect them in different ways. I'm probally making no sense because I stink at trying to type my thoughts. XD I honestly dont find drama amusing but hurtful to the people involved. But I really appreciated your comments! <33

You say arguing over the internet is pointless, and I honestly don’t see your point. How does the fact that it’s the internet make the arguments or the people behind them less real? Unless you’re saying ALL arguments are pointless, and that’s…just a little too “And World Peace” for me. As Fled said, you shove a whole bunch of teenage girls in a room and there’s gonna be dirty looks and drama. Also, there really isn’t a lot of out-of-game drama that I can see o_0 Maybe one or two arguments that I can think of recently. Not that bad. As for in-game drama or character drama, those are created by the people themselves and most involved seem to enjoy it. Life is boring without drama.

Drama isn't hurtful if the causers enjoy it themselves. Shi probably meant drama between deer, which is usually just for roleplay or fun. I see no harm in that.

I only see harm in when people are taking that kind of drama seriously, as something that happened between Blackie and Sarie. Of course, other personal things were involved in that situation, but still. People need to understand the difference between in character drama and a serious fight.

Arguing over the internet seems pointless, but like I said, we're all human. We all have feelings. Sometimes those feelings or thoughts clash an an argument is born. They can't be avoided, not in real life but not on the internet either.

I agree with this post: while I enjoy some roleplay drama, people need to repeat the MST3k mantra: "it's just a show [well, game]; I should really just relax." And true, the impulse will always be there: we care, so things can get personal. But it would be nice if people were a little more mindful, I agree.

But I totally think we should keep the community site relatively on-topic; we have the Life forum for all that other stuff, really. I want to see more diaries. I want to see more stories and deer-art.

Most of what I feel has been said already but I think the only thing missing (and really the only problem I have with non-Forest posts) is that they bump Forest related posts off the front page.
I didn't realize this happened until I started posting the story I'm working on...but it's really annoying to have something you spend a few hours writing get bumped off the front page after only two comments! It's frustrating, but I know that it's also a silly thing to get annoyed over, so I try not to let it get to me.

Just thought that aspect of the non-Forest posts issue should be addressed C:

And I guess sometimes some people get ticked off by that other persons opinion. Which is why

I definitely agree with

I definitely agree with cutting down on all the off-topic posts. The idea of having different sections on the community site for deer diaries, updates, bios, and off-topic kinds of things has already been brought up with Michael, so we might as some point have that to help us keep the site more Forest-focused.

As for the drama, as nice as it would be to never argue (or rarely argue, anyway) that same plea comes up after every big fight, and the peace never really lasts. There has been drama in the Forest since I can remember, sometimes worse than the recent Sarie and Blackie situation. We're really never going to get rid of it, because people tend to take things personally, things get out of hand, people get hurt, and other people get dragged in and worsen the situation. TEF is a community, and no community goes without drama. It's like being married and expecting to never have a fight.

I do very much agree with the first topic, and though there isn't a whole lot we can do, some of us can help by not putting things like that up. I do wish people would stop the posts with the dragon eggs but having them on their siggy really doesn't bother me. Course some people will plant their foot some where and stay there. And though the lightbringers to a great job I don't think it can fix something like this.

I have not seen as much drama as others mayb and I know I have caused my share of it too. Though I do agree that the insults should be stopped.

I don't have any ideas at this point but if I think of anything that could be useful, I'll post it.

I'm confused! Does this mean you don't want us to put a bio of our deer on our blog? If you are I totally disagree. Talking about our deer is talking about the game. I do agree that the dragon crap
needs to go. As for the fighting how can we fight? In the game theres no emote for fighting. Just because people seem like they are arguing doesn't mean they are. They could be debating. I'm not saying they are I'm just posting my opinion. By the way how do you get those figures on your posts?

Eh, personally I don't really care if people post dragon eggs, I just ignore them, it's all the same to me. As for drama, I am very oblivious to it, so I really can't say one thing or another besides that I have noticed some people very sad from time to time with the cause being dramas.

But~ I do definitely agree that there could be more diaries of who a deer has met and forest events and such. This is really the basis of having an enjoyable experience with TEF.

Comet I don't think that Timber was talking about not posting bios at all! Deer bios are one of the best parts of the site (in my opinion) and are entirely site-related. What was trying to be said was that posts that have nothing to do with the endless forest shouldn't be posted (at least not as much as they are now).

There are some actions that are seen as 'fighting' that the deer can do, but again this is touchy because everyone communicates differently. A rear or lowering antlers is sometimes seen as a sign of annoyance or anger. Also, the deer in peoples signatures are done by one of the artists on the community site, but my brain is failing and I forget who. *dies*

Change is natural and we do not always post that which pertains to here, Rping and such which i think we will always do but i have another thought, if perhaps someone introduced a site where they could get up to what they wanted about non-forest issues that place may help and i have such a site.

http://aeternalacrymosa.forumcircle.com is a forum site where you can RP and write and stuff to your leisure. I am the administrator there and it would also be of benefit to myself since it would help the site grow.

After reading the blogs I

After reading the blogs I have lately I've become much more opinionated since the first time you posted this blog...

I think now that what I believe is that people complain about how 'the site' and 'the community' has changed, when really the site hasn't changed at all, it's the people within that community that have changed. Now I've only been here just over a year, and I really can't say that I've seen any change at all. Sure, people leave but new people arrive too...and what do they arrive to? Everyone bitching and moaning about how allll their friends have left, and how everyone is so mean spirited 'nowadays'. That isn't a very welcoming face to put forward, we should be welcoming to the new, and polite to those who have chosen to end their time with us here at TEF...

I'll end on the point that people need to stop pointing fingers unless they are pointing them at themselves. The most drastic and enjoyable form of improvement is the bettering of yourself. Lead by example, as I hope to do in the future!

Well I think that in general people could try answering any questions new players have, even if it's one you've heard over and over and over lol I know when I first started posting, it was really nice having people respond and being nice about it (TEF is the first site I've EVER found that doesn't have a 'noob' stigma, and I'd love to keep it that way!).
