. The Rut 2013 .

30/09/2013 - The full rut has begun as of Monday, September 30th! It will run one full week, ending at turnover on Sunday night. Applications remain open.

INTRODUCTION

This event starts on the 23rd of September and ends on the 7th of October.

Hello, and welcome to year four of The Rut!

In reality, the Rutting Season is a time where stags would round up does for breeding. In their quest for romance, they are faced with many challenging stags, most of which are on the same quest.
As a result, this sometimes leads to conflicts between them; stags would display and battle one another with their antlers, all to impress the ladies. Rutting season in the cervidae family is a common occurrence, and is an impressive spectacle for nature enthusiasts all over to observe.

In TEF where reality is altered and the rules do not apply so much, The Rut is an organized event (a game if you will) in which stags, bucks, and even does alike meet one another over the battle ground. This is a perfect opportunity for Endless Forest Stags all over to prove their strength and power to each other.
The audience and the ultimate judges will be the participating Does of the Endless Forest, and they may either bless or reject the displays in any way they wish.

Use this time to reach out and meet new people, make new friends. We aim for this game to be enjoyable to everyone.

RULES

PLEASE READ THE RULES, THEY ARE VERY IMPORTANT.
The Rut: There will be battles (discouraging any excessively violent behaviour however), a bit of claiming and temporary territory establishment. Remember these behaviors only apply to other members of the event, and poor treatment towards anyone not participating can lead to being kicked out of the event. There will be no rutting outside the event times.
Respect & Responsibility: We are all in this together, so it is important that everyone should have respect for the next participating character and their player. Not only that, but towards people who are having nothing to do with the rut. If people don't want to be involved, never force them, treat them as you would on average circumstances the best you can. Everyone involved is our (the moderations) responsibility, so don't abuse it unless you want to be kicked out of the event.
Non-Rutting areas and Safe Zones: These 'Safe Zones' are where non-participants can be free of rutting behavior but also where Rut participants can take a break from the event and play with non-participant friends without being bothered. Repeat offenders will be contacted privately by myself, Raven or Xemi. [ Safe Zones • The Pond. Crying Idol. Twin Statues. Great Oak. Ruins. Blue Bowl. Playground. The X logs. ] Your fellow TEFers would appreciate any fights being kept outside of these densely populated areas. However your deer is free to roam, herd and battle anywhere there is open space. This is a simple courtesy we can provide to the others who may not enjoy the Rut as much as you do.
As far as realism goes: No godmoding/powerplaying. Whether your character is powerful or not, have respect for each other. Your character WILL grow tired, and it would not be fair on anyone if you should win all the fights. No especially fast healing, even if it's offered by another deer. Keep it real.
Mature Content: This event is supposed to be friendly to all audiences, please behave in a manner safe for all ages. We don't want to see any adult behavior!
Romance & Fawns: It is not up to us whether your deer should fall in love and/or have a fawn. This is something for you as players to work out between yourselves: your responsibility.
Rut Blogs: In previous years, there have been an explosion of rut blogs, this year we are to limit this greatly. Please keep all rutting information contained within your characters’ biographies.
How you want to play: The laws of nature might not abide by your deer so much. A doe might want to take a more stagly role or vice versa. Creativity is always encouraged, so as long as you abide the rules, please feel free to play this game however you and your deer like. Please specify if you'd like your deer in another gender role!
Think beforehand of which deer you want to play during the event: This to prevent people simply adding all of their deer in instead of giving it a bit of thought. Which are you really going to play? Are you not putting up a lot of work on the organizers whilst not going to play all the deer you add?
Please, we do not want ANY ideologically sensitive material associated with the rut. For example, rape. This is supposed to be a light-hearted game. Absolutely no rape. Period. End of. This is an event for all ages and subject matter this mature has caused issues in the past. This includes but is not limited to forceful mounting, dominant pinning, humping, and anything similar. These kinds of forced, sexual acts will not be tolerated. Any rape/attempted rape around, on, or in the name of 'the Rut' may immediately disqualify a character from the Event.

If anyone is an active breaker of these rules, they may be reported via email to either Raven, Faustt, or Xemi. We will look into it.

ABOUT

COMPETITORS

This section is for participating stags; the larger more powerful species. The fighters who can handle the stress of protecting and impressing the does whilst driving away the other strong stags and the cheeky bucks.

Consider your deer's pros and cons carefully before taking this position. This position is highly energy demanding, and your deer may very well become tired by the end of the rut.

CHALLENGERS

Bucks are generally smaller and/or younger deer. They stand no chance against the big brute stags, however they may well be faster, and better thinkers. Bucks need to be more cunning if they want to impress the ladies.

This position can be more fun. You don't have the great responsibility of guarding a harem, and you can choose to harass the larger stags for the hell of it. (Make sure not to be too relentless, all that running about will be tiring!)

JUDGES

The Judges, usually females, are the masters of the rut. It is up to them where the Harem will be, it is they who judge the stags as the most impressive.

It is the approval of the Judges everyone wants to gain - acknowledge the power each judge has and don't make this game too easy of a challenge!

INVOLVED NON-PARTICIPANTS

Involved non-partcipants are for the people and their deer who don't directly want to participate, however doesn't mind if your deer interacts with them as though they were. Be it any form of interaction rut-based or not. They may react as they would under normal circumstances. Or perhaps even open up a creative way of interacting with the participants.
