Part 8 Anothers tale begins and overlaps the first

Back to the beginning but not so long ago. Anothers begining

Born of strength was I
Made of purity, power, and pride
Made when no others could be made.
My destiny chosen
My eyes coloured rosen
I am the saviour of all
I shall be the purser of evil.
The great and the good
I shall be a living god.

My mother birthed me on a sun lit day in a great field of grass. She was made to stand as all deer should. My father told me of her weakness and how his guards held her up. How she cried with joy he said at my birth. I was born pure white a mark of my purity. I was taken from my mother who was left laid still in the grass. I was carried in the mouth of a pale stag across the grass to a row of hinds, My new eyes near blinded by the light unable to focus on the things around me. The hinds washed my damp frame with rough tongues and showed me how to feed from each and everyone of them. I was pushed from one to the other. Once fed I felt full and content the hinds stood to attention. Waiting. I felt the ground under my small hooves tremble and looked around. I found myself staring up to a face of a great white god. His magnificent, rack like a golden crown. The light seemed too radiant from him. There was a strange smell about him, yet not unpleasant to my young nose, sweet, sticky like wild flowers. I knew him in an instant. Father.
The next few months I was shared between the hinds. My legs grew strong fast for i was taught to stand tall and only lay down to rest when most needed. “A noble master must be strong and carry himself properly at all times not matter what age he is” The hinds would say to me. My father only came to inspect me a few times. He would walk around me and push at me. On occasion I was kicked and roared at to see how i responded. I stood still as told to by the hinds before the first inspection, I held back the tears and braced my frame.

the beast's hooves dug into the orange ground of the birch forest with every step he took. making his way to where he had last seen the blue flowering plants that amused him so. he felt that laying in them would be fun, and perhaps others would be gathered around them since they seemed popular, and well liked. his small audits twitching as he strut down the seemingly empty forest. a forest that he had usually seen full, though he hadn't been here all that often since he tended to linger around the stone thing he had heard was called crying idol. he enjoyed being close to the creek, and a place frequented by many others. how they all amused him so. however recently he strayed from them, loosing contact with most creatures he knew. perhaps he'd find them again, or perhaps he'd find new beings to amuse him. his scarlet eyes watching the forest with care, making sure not to miss a single glimpse of anything he deemed interesting.

Part 7 The test of the dark deer

It's been a while. I had never guess how much time had passed. everyday growing stronger. Everyday working towards my goal. Winters flew past, I had almost forgotten about my mother. My mind fixed on my training. My antlers were now showing and though I did not have a full crown the two points were sharp.

The day came one frost covered morning. I was to be tested, It seems so long ago even now. They called it the test of darkness. I was given no warning. For all my training was preparing me for this. Risk and Mortis has explained that the whole herd stags and hinds would hunt for me. The hunt would start before the sun rose. Their aim, to kill me. My job was to stay alive until the sun set and the test was over. I stood resting in the dusky forest not asleep but drifting when they came. Stags and hinds racing through the shadows at me. Outnumbered I turned and ran. But not in panic I paced myself as Mortis had taught me. I turned and headed towards higher ground where the rocks broke through the earth and tree roots made ledges. I no longer felt the branches batter and slash my form. These things did not matter, I had to focus on the task ahead.. I let my ears fall back allowing me to gage the herds distance. Not yet......I would need them closer….

I ran on and soon came to the place I was looking for to turn the tables. A face of rock, old as the wood and taller than the trees. Covered with ferns, and mosses, Pitted with cracks and bat caves. The test was of brains and not so much brawn I would only pass if I lived and to live was possible if the plan worked. I stood waiting for the first Deer to break through the foliage infront of me. I stood holding my ground making as if to fight.

NOW! I spun around my back legs powering me upwards as I lept I sprinted up bounding over jutting rocks I leaped like a mountain goat along juts of the rock. Not daring to look down as I scales the face of rock. Some followed others filtered to the sides.

Part 6 Growing and a new enermy

Winter had come and with its power taken away the sun, taken life it's self from some. More often than not the strong did not live, but only the cunning the smart and the risk takers. Winters endless grip seemed to penetrate in to even the darkest hearts rendering them weak.

I no longer relied on Mortis for protection. I was able to fight off the Fox, the badger. I knew how to dodge the serpents strike and when the wolf came, I knew what way to run and how to keep a clear head. When 2 wolves attacked I stood by Mortis side and fought them. One escaped and one did not. I no longer despised the smell of blood, I relished it. Yet I was not evil. I was only surviving. I was eating to live now through the cold no matter how terrible the plants tasted.
I was out on border patrol with a new mentor, His name was Risk, He was named after his first deed during his initiation test. This was something I was soon to face. I was stronger now. But the test would only begin when my antlers started to show. We had been up before the dawn moving as shadows through our territory to its borders then circumnavigating the shadows land, checking for strange smells slots and sounds.
I was still new to the land and was relying on Risk to guide me whilst I tried to memorise the land.

As we approached a small brook we began to hear a strange sound and in our feet we felt vibrations in a sort of rhythm from up ahead. Risk turned to a holly bush to his left and asked it "How long has this been going on"
My ears pricked forward as I caught the whispered reply " Not for long. Shall I report it?" Risk looked back to the path. “No stand your ground but should you hear my bark then do not hesitate in flight". With that we began forward again, I could feel the deer’s eyes watching my back. Deer like that were choose for their skill as spies and no one knew where they were unless they wanted you to know.

Part 5 Closer to the truth

Brother... I have... a brother

Oh how my heart skipped a beat. Brother. Maybe not a mother or a father but still family a brother! I now skipped by his side as he walked through the forest, I felt new He walked on melding with the shadows, silent as the breeze. I chipped and jumped. I felt such happiness. I had suffered so long struggled for so long and now I would be safe.

"ENOUGH!! YOU FOOL!"

I skidded to a halt and turned to the voice. My new found brother now stamped the ground & bucked. "Enough this is not how to act! You have a proud bloodline show some honour to it and conduct yourself properly" I lowered my head and mumbled” I’m sorry I did not.."
"WHAT! You did not know, don’t talk scat like that and don't mumble. Now fall in line with my slots and follow me ... NOW!

With my head low I stepped behind him silent. My eyes looking at his slots ahead, my feet trying to stay in line. As we traveled I turned and looked around seeing new plants and smelling new smells. This type of forest was new to me almost like another world. I turned away from my brother and went to smell a nearby tree. It’s smell almost warm and sweet so strange. I sniffed more when a sound reached my ears I heard a snort behind me turning to see my brother starting to stamp the ground “For deaths sake can’t you do one thing I say now walk before I drive you will my antlers!

It seemed forever that we walked, he would not let me rest until I was near collapse. I was made to dig a hole to pass waste in to. Soon my hooves were swollen and I began to limp.I stopped and sank to my knees panting. I asked in a weak voice “please brother at least tell me your name"
He did not answer me but instead kicked me in to standing and once again I walked... I began to wonder what I had gotten myself in to.....

Night drew in and we traveled still. My thoughts went back to times before.
