A Story

It's just an experiment of mine. I wrote this myself, in my own version, but I went by the book of Genesis as a reference. Poetry does not always need to rhyme, so I gave that a thought.

Pride. Evil. Conceit.
A place too purely perfect for dark presences
An epic argument between two entities
Good and Evil
The winner was to expel the looser
Everyone knew that Good would win; it always does
It was then that the angel fell,
Taking admirers with him.
Evil he was, and so became his followers.

The Earth and all its brightness, glory, excellence
Would forever spoil.
Two humans
One demon-possessed reptile
And a test of trust
Cunning, trickery, deceit
"Just one bite", said it, "and you will know what He knows."
A lie, Eve accepted
She bit the accursed fruit
The fate of the planet then befell him,
Adam.
His choice would change the world
And so it did.

Fear, shame, dismay
Into darkness the planet plunged
Altering, polluting, dying
All its inhabitants would suffer the consequences
Sorrow filled the Maker's eyes
He never meant for this to happen
He had hoped they would make the right decision

Someday, He knew, all this would be repaired.
So a plan he began to formulate,
As mankind started filling the blank pages of history.

Seed's Poetry Corner: A Love Letter

The poem is the explanation for the poem, I think; Only stopping to note that this has been on my mind.
A note from a later date: I suppose I should at least give some context, for a reader besides myself. As Sage, my love, is so often away, I've tried my hoof at writing letters to her, and she seems most fond of the notion. And so...

A Love Letter

I read the breeze that rushes
along the feathers of birds aflight
as an omen that, rising, hushes
me to silence. I think I might

take pen to sheet of bark pulled tight
and thinly beaten to take ink.
Oh, to use that voice you praise and write
to form between our distant hearts a link.

When the moment's come, I balk, I shrink;
my mind draws naught but clumsy, idle words,
scratched out out and pressed too far, I think:
I've no letter to send, even on the flight of birds.

Except to say simply "You are in my thoughts,
sending my breath into sighs, my words into knots."
