My favorite moments in the forest from the first (almost) month I've been here:

Screenshot heavy because I can.

If you see your deer in any of these shots, speak out!

I've experienced a lot in my first month playing TEF. With one week left until Vesper becomes a stag, I'd like to take a look back on my favorite forest moments.

My First Undead Sighting I'm not sure who this is, but I'll admit seeing that pelt for the first time was really exciting.

Encountering MORE Undead I wanted to run around with glee. And I did.
Edit: Deer in this pic: SarieBearie, Liëka

Being Introduced to the Crazy Antics of TEF I really didn't know what to think when I came upon those stags dancing in a tree.
Deer identified in this pic: SarieBearie

Participating in Crazy Antics at TEF I wanted to dance in a group, too!

Becoming Devout

Mimicking Others

Learning to Change I still don't know who this mini-stag was, and we had so much fun.

Heart

It is...

Life

Death

My soul, pulling at me. The gods are not willing this, something far greater than the gods is pulling me. I can smell something strange in the wind, I can feel something deep inside me becoming sad, becoming troubled, becoming scared. I fear that I am being pulled away from the forest, and I fear that it is forever...

So it is with a heavy heart I pass through the forest for what I feel is the last time. Slowly my steps carry me to the statue at the ruins, and I cannot help but stare longingly into its empty eyes. How my heart falls to my feet! Is it so? Do I feel this way because it is to be the last time I sit amongst the poppy flowers and ponder over the world beside you, my trusted friend?

For what seems an eternity I stare into those empty eyes, wondering how many countless deer have done the same as they gazed into my own. Had I become so heartless, so empty, that the forest no longer wished for me to be a part of it?

Unsure of what to make of my emotions I sat beside my lifelong friend to think. I fell into a deep slumber, my heart beating rapidly in my chest, even in sleep. Slowly I could see the forest in my visions, the heavy mists surrounding its borders idly sitting by. I came closer, and closer, and closer until I found myself surrounded in the mists. It was so thick, so heavy, and suddenly so dark.

I could see nothing, and my stomach churned in that strange fear again. I became frantic, my feet twisting beneath my body. I fell to the ground, struggling to rise up again, but it fell thicker upon my body. I couldn't breath, I couldn't strike out, nothing I did to will my body to move made it do so at my command.

PeM V :: may you Run forever

This is dedicated to a deer, and a person, who I never got to meet. She was known as Run, beloved by everyone in the forest, a former mate to Sluggs...

Who was killed in a car crash, her sister said...

I hope not to disappoint a single soul who remembers Run, and I hope I do not tarnish her in any way...I tried my very, very best to write a poem of her that I felt she deserved.

And Ephra...would you allow me to add your beautiful picture of the memorial to this poem?

Here is the poem...I hope you find it fitting...

--- may you Run forever ---

[i]Running on forever in eternity
A kiss from the heavens
A raindrop from the cirrus
Whence the angels, blessèd, hover

And where she fell, the deer rose
To stare upon the rose that had bloomed
A doe, sweethearted, soon to become
The friend of everyone and everyone to be

Soaring over the rugged landscapes of the forest
Beside her friends, they ran
A symphony of hooves, of wingbeats,
Running beside an angel, they had wings

And so one day
She met a stag masked behind a skull
And her heart fluttered, she blushed
As pink as dawnlit nights and February's precious arrow

And so the stag, the King of Glitches
Sat beside his Queen,
An angel fallen down to Earth
The sweetest doe of all

A cry
Pierced the sky
A thousand trumpets blew, synchronized
To scream to the heavens, "Why?..."

For the fallen angel
Cursèd by a sudden fate
The fae who had blessèd all who had come to know her
Was called back to cirrus in the sky

And the sky of the forest grew dark,
And the hearts of the many deer fell to ground with broken wings
And tears streamed down the faces of the ones who truly loved her
And lowly did their heads hang down, in mourning of the sweet

And sent down from the heavens
Was a star of silvern brightness
Circling o'er a flora
In the depths of forest's midnight

And in the air, the stars flew 'round
And sang a somber sound along

Gather around children... Vessel has a story to tell

i just finished watching Watership Down and it was FREAKING GREAT. so i formulated a little story about the beginning of the Endless Forest. no, i dont believe in it, so dont label it as a crazy religion. i just felt like writing it. its kinda stupid and you probably wont like it XD HERE WE GO

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Children of the Endless Forest, lend me your ear, and I shall tell you of a story that has been long forgotten. It is true that the origins of the world are yet unknown, but there is one story that has tested the intellect of many a mind.

In the beginning, there was a great god.

This god created the universe: the planets, the stars, the moons. And the god designed each planet to his liking. One planet he decided to put life on. He created trees, plants, waters, the sky. He created every form of life, from the simple animals to Man. But he also created five special creatures, giving each of them his face.

One was the Dog, who had a longer face and tail. Another, the Cat, with large fangs and sharp claws. The Bird, with great beating wings and beautiful feathers. The Rabbit, with powerful legs and great cunning. And the Deer, with great and mighty antlers. These five creatures were given their own territory and intelligence. They soon multiplied, and filled the earth, alongside the other creatures of the land.

on a Sluggsycle built for two

Glitch stag, glitch stag,
Switching a file or two
We'll go crazy
Running all over you
Over and under water
A wingless, flying wonder
You run and sleep
You smile and creep
In this glitch world
Designed by you

Sluggsy, Sluggsy,
Tell me it isn't so
That you've run 'way
Leaving but an echo
Your fun and your games, we cherish
We hate to see you perish
We won't forget
That spooky set
That you've cast upon one and all

Divine Intervention - Chapter 4

"Forest Shamans?", Quad questioned Scorn.

"Yes, the Forest Shamans are some of the most revered deer known!", Scorn exclaimed. "Why is that?", Mazey asked. Scorn nodded, "Well, several reasons actually. Each Shaman has their own gift from the Twin Gods, some kind of power or ability, and all have used them for peace and harmony. Some could control nature, like the weather and the elements. Others could read minds, interpret dreams, and so on. Brooke...", Scorn paused here, "...was an extrordinary healer."

"I've heard of her!", Dim added, "She brought the trees back to life after a fire once!" Scorn nodded, "Yes that is true. She also could bring animals back to perfect health right before they died. She was really amazing." He looked over to Quad, "It's also been said that the Shamans brought luck to anyone near them." Mazey jokingly came close to Quad, smiling and looking up to him. The others chuckled a little.

Auge decided to speak here, "The Shamans were gifted, but at the same time they had to be responsible with their powers. They were anything but normal deer." She looked over to Quad, "Who knows what kind of power you'd have Quad, if you were one of the Shamans!"

Quad sighed and shook his head, walking off in the direction they were going. The other four tilted their heads. "What's up with him?", Scorn questioned. They ran after him, Auge going past and stopping him. "What's the matter? You're going to be some kind of hero, Quad!", she questioned him. "I...", Quad started, but he shook his head and tried to get past her. "Quad! Tell us!", Scorn snapped at him.
