In the Presence of a God
"Please, Sithrim?", a voice asked him nearby.
The young stag opened his eyes and looked to her. A fawn stared at him, and she asked again, "Please? You're the only one that can do it."
"What do you want me to do?", he replied to her.
"I want to see a tree turn into a giant mushroom!", the fawn replied.
Sithrim tilted his head, "Isn't that something the Twin Gods can do?", he asked.
The fawn tilted her head in reply, "Twin Gods? Who are the Twin Gods? You're the only deer god in the Endless Forest, Sithrim."
Sithrim didn't really understand this at first, but he sat up and looked at the nearest tree. Without even thinking, the tree burst into a giant mushroom.
The fawn's eyes grew, "Yay! You did it!", she exclaimed, and ran to the giant mushroom.
Sithrim didn't really understand what was going on. The Twin Gods aren't around, and he has their powers? This was odd....very odd...
"Hey, it's Sithrim!", he heard someone else exclaim. The god looked to see a stag approach, his eyes as big as the fawn's before. Sithrim cleared his throat, "Erm...what can I do for you?"
"Well, I've been waiting for the next Abiogenesis, but I just can't wait that long. Can you give me the Black As Night Pelt?", the stag questioned.
Sithrim hesitated for a moment. What would Michael or Auriea do in this situation? They don't normally give out spells like that out of the blue...or do they?
He took a deep breath, and without really concentrating, cast the spell on the stag. The mortal's fur went from brown to a sleek black. He was amazed, and bowing, he immediately ran off shouting, "Hey everyone! Look what the deer god gave me!"
Sithrim didn't really think about it, but he made a little mistake. Before he realized it, many more deer came running up to him. "Please Sithrim, we want the Black As Night Pelt too!", they begged.

On a particularly chilly day in the Endless Forest, something amazing happened. The Twin Gods added a new feature to the Forest - a great tree, shaped only by vines that coiled and wrapped around themselves. The tree was known as the Wirewood Tree, and it became a source for the gods to store and use some of their powers.
Around them, many of the deer gathered to watch the event unfold. Michael and Auriea were fine with the audience, but as soon as a good enough group were present, they made an announcement:
"This tree, unlike the various places we've provided in the Forest, is only meant to be used by us. We ask that you please do not touch this tree, because it can curse you. If you let us do what we need to with the tree, we promise that we will reward you all with a new place in the Endless Forest for you to play and use."
The group understood. They weren't the kind to mess with things the gods didn't want them to. Little by little, the deer broke from the crowd and went their own ways, and soon only a handful remained to watch the Twin Gods do their work.
About midday, Michael and Auriea stopped and looked at the remaining crowd. "We will retire for a few moments. Please make sure that no one touches the tree.", they asked, and soon they vanished before their eyes.
There was a moment of silence then. The deer watched the tree, their minds wandered a little. What was it used for? What would happen to them if they were cursed?
One fawn decided to test the tree. He approached the new structure in front of the crowd, who all at once scolded him and tried to call him back. The little one was too curious about the tree, and before they knew it, he put a hoof on one of the vines.
At first, nothing happened. He looked back at them, "See? The gods were just making it up!", he said. But then, little by little, the vines of the tree unraveled.
