It was 3:59 AM in a dark bedroom. A strange ambiance kept the room from staying silent. The tower fan at the foot of the bed blew gently, keeping the room cool and a comfortable current circulating. A wind chime nailed on the wall next to the bed was lightly sounding as the current moved past, making wooden clonks much like a
shishiodo. A Native dreamcatcher also flutters above the bed, the feathers in the breeze as if they were moving all their own.
There he slept, covered in fleece blankets, some nights having strangely pleasant dreams, but this night he was haunted by a terrible nightmare he could not escape from. One arm dangled off the bed, he always seemed to fall asleep like this. Pressed against his back was a warm dachshund who dozed this night as well.
The clock changes to 4:00 AM, and a gust of unnatural wind blows through the room. The wind chime rattled loudly, the blankets and other things seemed to flow like waves in the ocean.
At the foot of the bed was a glowing specter, body fully white and glistening brightly in the darkness. Four beautiful wings outstretched and flowing in the strange wind.
And then the breeze died down, back to the simple flowing of the fan. The man and his dog remained asleep during this, though both were shivering now - not from the cold, but from the darkness.
The specter was a beautiful deer, his brown eyes filled with compassion and love. He approached the side of the bed and rubbed his white chest against the man's hand.
"That's quite enough, Iugulare. Let him go.", Quad's voice spoke in the near-silence. The stoat emerged from the bodies of both the man and dog, and looked up to the deer.
