Dark of The Pond (re-post)

So I`m thinking of writing up a story for TEF. This is just a little oneshot a I thought up that would be based off the story.

Sunlight shone through the dense wooded trees, bathing the lush green forest in sunlight. The spots that the sunlight did not reach where spots of cool, misty shades. The fawn breathed in the air as it ran through a patch of shade, heading for its destination.

The fawn kept joyfully running until its little hooves suddenly stopped, digging into the soft soil. Before it lay a calm, unbroken, blue-green pond. The fawn bent down, lapping up the water. It tasted magical, the clear, clean liquid. So... magicial.

The fawn finished drinking and looked up. It blinked, flicking its ears in contentment.

That`s when the fawn saw it. A flash of something, out of the corner of its bright eyes.

It looked up. On a hill next to the pond stood a huge gray black stag. Its antlers were blood red, its eyes even more so. They glowed and flashed with pure malice.

The fawn froze, half out of shock and the other of denial. The forest was a safe, sweet place. The deers were all kind-hearted and fun. Surely its eyes must be playing tricks on it?!

Perhaps there was something wrong with the pond water.
No. There was never anything wrong with the pond water.

The deer loomed over the pond and the fawn, looking down on it in a way that would have unerved even the most mighty, steel-hearted deer. Yet the fawn still refused to believe that something would hurt it.

It was so sad. As a huger shadow rose up over the pond, and the fawn bellowed in fright as a plume of gray black ash rose up behind the shadowy stag, it still didn`t run.

Even as the stag began to run toward the pond, the little fawns feet were only begining to turn.

Skate

Skate is a speedster. He hates to sit still and will occasionally pause briefly to ridicule those he sees sitting for long periods. If it is running, he will chase it - if it stops/hides he will lose interest. He loves playing tag with fawns, but if all they want to do is stand around and dance he will probably lose interest very quickly.

Skate is a brawler. If he sees a duel he will observe aggressively, pawing and lowering his antlers, but will let them duke it out. If a group of deer are fighting each other, he will plunge into the melee. If a deer is being chased by a large crowd, Skate will also give chase, but he probably won't attack them unless he knows the story behind it.

Whistling Mask
Antelope Antlers
Monarch Pelt

Skate is not what I would consider an evil deer, and I will never use him to "get even." Skate's actions are not my own and do not represent me, but if you have a particularly skittish deer and would like Skate to not chase them, your best bet is to post here on this blog (standing still is also a great deterrent).

Non-TEF - Video Gamers, I need some advice quick! (Got Skyrim)

I decided to trade in my DS lite + a few games, just debating what to get with the store credit. Keep in mind I am very late starting games, I can't afford to buy them when they come out new. I called earlier and found out I'd get $25 for the DS (which is understandable, since the DSi and 3DS have come out since), and I know Pokemon games usually pay pretty well, so I'm expecting somewhere around $40 altogether.

So I could get Mass Effect 2 and another $20-ish game (was leaning toward Prototype)...

Or do I pay about $10 more and get Skyrim?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
