Project: Greenleaf | Keep our Forest ENDLESS

I've made up my mind and I'm asking any others who have done the same to join me!

This is not going to be an easy task and one person alone is NOT going to be able to manage it. But I've decided to dedicate myself to trying to make this work - and with the help of other's who are willing to do the same I BELIEVE we can do this!

... so without further babble I present to you:

It takes a lot of time, effort, and FUNDING to keep our forest running and without the funds we don't get updates or repairs. Without funding eventually we loose our Forest! The goal of Project Greenleaf is to help to provide the funding to keep our Forest running! We want to show our support to Auriea & Michaël and to let them know that WE LOVE OUR FOREST and want to see it continue to thrive and maybe even GROW!

We want to see our Forest continue and hopefully to stay free-to-play, since paying a fee each month would seriously take away from the very nature of TEF. By promoting donations specifically to The Endless Forest and raising funds for the same goal we hope to help make a dent in the expenses of keeping our Forest running!

This is a big job - and it's going to take a lot of dedication in order for this project to succeed - but we believe that it IS possible for us to make a difference if we work together to do so!

Donations to TEF are fantastic and if you can afford to do so we will always encourage it! However, everyone has their own motivation and we understand that sometimes you want to get a little something more back - So Project Greenleaf is seeking MEMBERS to assist in our fund raising efforts!

We are looking for:

Members to help organize fund raising, put together project ideas, and help coordinate our efforts.
Members who are willing to create TEF related artwork, jewelry, plushies, etc. & donate a portion of their profits to TEF.
People who want to donate directly to TEF.
People who are willing to purchase commissions/products through Project Greenleaf to help fund TEF.**
People who are willing to post a link to Project Greenleaf in their posts/journals etc. and to help spread the word!

Right now we are in our 'collecting members' phase - once we have a large enough list of people to start, we'll work together to help everyone get set up and work out the details! So don't let the phrase "I don't know how" keep you from trying - we'll be here to help!

Update: June 17th, 2009 | Ugh I have been so busy lately with real life that I've been a little slow on keeping up with updates. <3 I'm going to continue to be a bit occupied elsewhere as we ready for our summer vacation, but I'll be doing my best to keep things up to date.

On another note however I would truly like to hear any ideas that anyone else has for the project! I know that I do not have the time away from my family life to be able to run the project in any more serious a way than it is at the moment, but I am seriously dedicated to seeing it continue and I know that there are others who feel the same way.

I was thinking about

I was thinking about offering some type of contribution to this with some of my own goodies. I've been considering making accordion books customized for deer, or Sculpey figures, or just some digital art. Since my summer is just starting I'll have a lot more time to work on anything. But anyway, I'll post a diary soon with examples of what I can offer, and if anyone's interested I'll continue with the idea and have it listed here.

Would it be easier to have one central TEF 'shop' (say, and outside blog at blogspot or something) and have everyone's individual wares listed with their contact information, so that a buyer could just find what they like and shoot them an email? I don't know how much effort it would take to put that together, but if the consensus is that it would be nice to have, I'll be glad to create the blog.

Fledermaus - The biggest issue I can think of for having a central location (aside from here) for having everyone's wares listed is that someone has to be in charge of updating it all the time. If individual artists/crafters need to update or need a break from commissions and need to close shop for a while the updater would have a lot of work to do constantly and if life needed their attention the site would suffer...

So having everyone responsible for their own shop/location that is linked via the greenleaf post is for now the best way I've thought of to keep the balance between offering it all at once and keeping the workload reasonable. I think it would be a great idea for anyone who wants to 'partner' up with each other - say someone makes plushies & another person puts together plushie accessories *has been thinking about making those...*lol** ! Then a 'joint space' like that would be a perfect fit! < ^.^ > <3

I've been thinking on the issue of having everyone's shops here as well... since I don't know how appropriately they fit in addition to the fact that I'm sure it may complicate things for TEF/TOT.... It's another thing that I'm having to add to my list of "Questions for Michael" that needs to get sent off.... < o.o' >

Me too! I think this is a great idea, and it will hopefully help a lot. I am willing to buy a few fanarts and such as well! I just fear I won't be able to spend artwork, because it seriously sucks. ;o.o

By the way, did you notice that Drache/Density already has a commission page for Greenleaf, too? Clicky

The only thing I see in this is, that newbies may be confused if they suddenly see something with money in this otherwise completely free Forest and community... They could feel uncomfortable with it. But I still completely act for Greenleaf, and I think I will replace the Lightbringer link in my sig into a Greenleaf logo. I hope, Myst & Io Rez won't hate me for that. D: ^^

Director and I have discussed having proceeds from The Endless Forest Ballet go to Project Greenleaf.

Mick: Even if we never raise enough money to help very much, it must definitely be rewarding as a creator of such a game to have a community band together and try and help out. For some of us Project Greenleaf is more about expressing how thankful we are than raising adequate funds.

Exactly as Terabetha said Mick, we may not be able to fund the game or even a small percentage, but giving something back to them lets them know that we really DO appreciate what they do for us, and if our donations do nothing more than buy Michael a really good sandwich every month then at least he'll know it was a 'Thank you' from those of us in TEF. <3 < ^.^ > I don't see how saying 'thank you' is pointless, no matter how small it is. But to each their own opinion. <3
