Quad's Updates and Stuff (On A Temporary TEFc Break)
April 23, 2009 - 9:15pm — quadraptor
"Hi there! I'm taking a short break from the community site, but you can still find me roaming around the Forest (and sometimes pop up on Livestream or the Org. XIII chat). I will check the community site once or twice a day but I'm keeping myself from sitting here staring at the recent posts all day. If you need me, throw me an e-mail at or add to your MSN. Or leave me a message on this topic for when I get back, I'd really appreciate it! *nuzzlenuzzle*"
Want to chat? Post away below! Blog entries will be below in comments (steals from Pega because that's a great idea!) Also feel free to say, "Hey can you play (insert one of my deer's names) next time?"
So I've stolen the blog entry thing from Pega in the comments! XD
12/07/09 - I probably won't be in the Forest until maybe tonight. I've got work in a few hours, so you might see raven-Quad late tonight. I just have had so much fun with him being a raven that I don't want to sneeze off that morph spell. He seems to scare the heck out of people, unfortunately. It's hard to express the way Quad feels as a raven, when everything comes out as "Caw!" Well, the best way I've figured out how to make someone laugh is to moonwalk in front of them. Besides, cawing at people is hilarious because everyone reacts differently. Stags get scared, fawns get angry, and Toukan freaks out.
Anyway, Wednesday I won't be around for the rest of the week. I'm heading up to spend some time with my brother in Georgia near the Tennessee state line. I hope it snows while we're up there - I've only seen it three times in my life, and all three times were when I was still in elementary school (10+ years ago).
And as always, I'm excited about the Secret Santa. I hope everything works out well with it, and I hope the person I got likes their gift.
Feel free to post here if you want to chat! When I'm not at work, school, or traveling, I'm usually haunting the community site, so don't be shy!
I got up after laying down for a bit and put Quad in the Forest. I was glad I did because Laruna was there, and I got some funny screenshots of the two of us goofing off. Best two are here:
12/08/08 - Might pop Quad in a little later. I just finished my last final for school, and today I gotta focus on packing up for my trip tomorrow. I'm bringing my laptop so I'll be able to keep in contact, and I will take a few pictures while I'm visiting my brother in Georgia.
Oh hey, I went to a used book/CD store, and found a cheap album from a band called Bricolage that sounds great - they've got an indie/ska sound, but you'll know why I bought the album:
Hooray for albums with deer on the cover! Surprisingly this album came out this year! I also picked up an old Amorphis album, they're a neat finnish power metal band
12/14/09 - Ever have one of those days where you just want to backslap a couple of your coworkers?
Alright check this out - on our fruit trays, we only put cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple. Well our new coworker took a fruit tray order and the people wanted kiwi, mango, bananas, apples, lime, strawberries, and grapes on it. THEN the guy that made the fruit tray completely ignored everything that was written down and put the usual stuff - cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.
So about an hour and a half ago, i was working on closing up the produce dept when the customer and two other people walked in and wanted the fruit tray. I gave it to them and then as I was going to finish up my stuff, she stopped me and said that she wanted the mango, bananas, ect but at the same price as a regular tray. I told her our policy and explained that I haven't been there for 6 days so I didn't know of any agreements she had made. Well she went off on me about it and demanded to talk to a manager.
I was lucky that one of my favorite managers was there, so I got him and he decided to make a new tray for the people - with everything they wanted on it. He helped me put it together, we gave it to them, and rolled our eyes afterward.
So I had to leave a note for not only the new guy that took the order, but the person that made the tray, pretty much telling them NO NO NO.
The reason why we don't put some of those things on there are the following:
Bananas and Apples rot as soon as you peel or cut them.
Limes make all the other fruit taste like limes.
Kiwi are a pain to peel and add to a tray. It takes a lot of them just to fill a little section.
Mango is expensive.
In addition, some customers want blueberries, which are both expensive and take a lot to fill up the tray.
Sigh...I swear I'm the scapegoat of the produce dept.
Alright I've played Pent for two days now. I would like to be someone else, maybe among Trunks, Blixt, and Zephyr. Anyone want me to play someone in particular?
I thought I'd be Blixt for now since it would be his favorite time of the year.
Sigh...I kinda wish it was already the 25th. Today I've done everything I needed to, and I just really would like the day to be over already so we can get closer and closer to Christmas and my Birthday.
Tomorrow I have a crummy 5-10 shift at work. Normally I work 4-8, so I'll be getting home two hours later than I normally would. Hopefully I won't have to do too much fruit cutting, though we had a lot of orders so I wouldn't know for sure.
Then I have Christmas Eve off, which we normally do a little family party before turning in for the big day afterward. I think this year we're going to meet my brother during his lunch break and go out to eat. Christmas Eve is also Brandy's birthday, so I have a present for her.
It's the time of the year where each day feels like its own week. I love this time of year, but at the same time I would like the grand finale to come and go so we can get back to regular life.
Blixt had loads of fun last night hanging with Seed, Blue, Tropa, and many other deer. He met a nice fawn who bowed and played with him for a few moments before saying goodbye and running off.
Tree dancing was loads of fun. I don't think Blixt has ever done that before, and then later on playing at the Pond was great. He was being silly and walking on the logs there. I think Blue having the green pelt really threw him off, too.
Not sure when I'll play next. I have a late shift today so I won't be on tonight.
12/25/09 - Sitting here, surfing the 'net while listening to Within Temptation's album The Silent Force. It's one of seven CDs I got for Christmas, and am totally digging them! Check out what I got for Christmas here, and I'd love to read what everyone else got if they want to make a post like that!
I didn't get any Nightwish albums, but then again I wouldn't be surprised if I get one for my birthday on the 30th. It's Lex's fault that I'm listening to both them and Within Temptation - she introduced me to a new 'genre': female-lead-vocalist metal bands!
That reminds me, I need to take a picture of the stuff she sent me! She and I sent each other a package for Christmas, and I got some cool things from her, including a little deer necklace that I'm wearing now. I sent her a few things, one thing in particular was a CD for a band called Halestorm, who I got to see in concert at Bayfest in downtown Mobile back in October. I knew Lex would like them because they're a female-lead-singer punk band.
01/05/09 - Quad was in the Forest yesterday. He ran into Halogen and Pepokeen, and later Darcy came and played with us. I only took one screenshot, but it was a funny one.
XD
Anyway, I'm cleaning my room out while watching The Steve Wilkos Show, and later this afternoon I'm taking my mom to a sushi bar.
1/9/09 - Hey I got my last Enigma album today! I have every single album they've released!!
* 1990: MCMXC a.D.
* 1993: The Cross of Changes
* 1996: Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!
* 2000: The Screen Behind the Mirror (the one I got today)
* 2003: Voyageur
* 2006: A Posteriori
* 2008: Seven Lives, Many Faces
In case you were wondering, Enigma is an awesome new age electronic band, and I love listening to their albums while playing TEF, IT, WoW and so on. If you were interested in listening to them, I highly recommend you start with either The Cross of Changes, Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!, and/or A Posteriori. I haven't listened to The Screen Behind the Mirror yet because I just got it in the mail!
Quad was in the Forest tonight. He found his adoptive father, Walter, and got to sit with him for a while. He also ran into Kaoori and Shyla, as well as a couple of fawns. He had a lot of fun dancing with one of them.
Well actually my laptop is! I bought a cheap cable that wires my laptop to my router (since my desktop has gone kaput), and now the internet is smooth while I'm at home. I was noticing a lot of lag while surfing the 'net, playing TEF and WoW, and even downloading programs. I just tried WoW and it's running great, later on I'll check TEF and see how well it plays.
*is happy*
On other IRL news...I got summoned for jury duty :\ It'll be two weeks before my spring break on the beginning of March, which is about the same time as my midterms. I've gotta fax them a picture of my student ID as proof that I'm a full-time student, and hopefully we can get it postponed until August or so. I don't mind serving, it's just the worst time to schedule it for me.
They should postpone. One of my friends recently got called for jury duty, but she was able to postpone it cuz it was originally scheduled for the middle of the semester.
I feel really selfish. I said I didn't want any more artwork, but here I am requesting again. I don't know why I am.
I'm debating taking my name off of the couple of 'lists' I had asked for - that would include Kita's Art Challenge and Moogie's Animated Deer. I feel like I'd just be wasting their time because i'm so selfish.
In IRL news, i've got some good and bad things going on:
The good news is that I was able to order some geology supplies using what was left of my student loan. I'm getting a Brunton Pocket Transit (used to measure angles of rock beds, it looks like a compass [and functions as one too]) and a handheld Garmin GPS. They should arrive either Tomorrow or Saturday.
The bad news is that my Dad went to the doctor and they said he has some kind of spots on his liver. He just got part of his intestines removed that had cancer, and now they think he has liver cancer. Sigh...it's frustrating that he might have to do more chemotherapy after all he's gone through - he's done chemo, radiation, and surgery to get this far.
Trunks has an official biography now. Soon I plan to give Quad a break and play as him more. Let's hope people don't spellspam him again, though (last time it was pretty annoying).
A little bit of breaking news for me - I've got a plan for after I graduate.
I'm going to try to work for a company that will pay for me to go to graduate school for a Masters program. Of course I haven't looked into everywhere though, but it really depends on who I work for and where I'm at. I could take classes at the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!), Texas A & M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, ect ect ect.
The plan I have is to work a little bit so I can get some experience, and then go for my masters in Hydrogeology.
We have a yard sale on Saturday, and I'm going to put my Project Greenleaf necklaces up for sale. That means that all the ones I had available before may be sold.
HOWEVER
Depending on how much I make off of them, I'll still send ToT a little of the proceeds. After all, they were intended for fundraising.
With that being said, maybe one day I'll be able to make some new ones. I know now I need to put them at cheaper prices, too. Still got plenty of materials to make more.
I'm a little irritated - we were just closing up shop when a lady came and wanted a whole bunch of stuff. She got about $45 worth of our stuff and then would only pay $35 for it.
Sadly, most of what she took of my stuff were the Project Greenleaf necklaces, and since she took more stuff of my brothers' than mine, I had to volunteer my stock as the 'loss'. (As in, instead of me making $15 and my brother making $30, he got his amount and I only made $5)
I feel really bad about it, because I didn't make nearly as much as I wanted on them so I could donate it back to ToT. That and I feel like they're not meaningful to the lady (two of my necklaces were bought for a little girl - that's meaningful), and I guess I just feel like all that time making them and putting a lot of symbolism and such has been wasted.
:< yeah life tends to suck a lot of the time....but that's why we have the past, so we can dump the sucky stuff in it and go on to tomorrow C:
and I know what it's like to have your creations seem a tad belittled, like they've lost their meaning to people >.> but at least they still mean something to you, so that special part of them isn't lost completely |3
I decided to use my vacation time at work for Spring Break, but of course they've got me working a lot this week. On top of that, I have a bunch of exams -_-
Not sure what all I'll get to do - my aunt is coming over that week so I'll get to have a little fun with her (she wants to go out for sushi). We also talked about going to a casino. I forgot I have a couple of things I have to get done that week too (doctor's visit and I gotta get First Aid Training).
3 exams down, 1 more to go on Friday. I'm glad that I don't have much to do today, just have to go to a couple of classes and then come home. I finally get an off day after working 6 straight days.
Gotta work tomorrow, though, and then it's Spring Break for me. I used my vacation time for next week so I have the entire week off. Definitely need the break after this week.
So MickKreiger decided to shut down the gift writing a thon. I still want to write my stories, so I'm trying to think of a way to collect characters to write them for without it only being people I know or it being a "first post first written" thing.
Maybe there aren't any other options. I don't know, but I guess what I could do is make the list of the stories I have available and let people choose which one they'd want. It's not much different than the "first post first written" thing but at least it would be a little meaningful to each person.
I'm still a little bummed that the writing a thon got canceled, I was really looking forward to when my week came.
Got up early and did some work with Mom in the living room. After that, I ran a couple of errands in a neighboring small town. Decided to trade in a bunch of games at Gamestop, and since they have a deal where you get an extra 50% trade-in, I ended up with $85 store credit.
Yesterday, I had been trying to decide between Bioshock 2 and Final Fantasy XIII. One was the sequel to a game I really really liked, but the other has been raved about since it came out.
...I got both...
I started up Bioshock just a little while ago, and it's pretty fun so far. I'll pop in Final Fantasy later on. Eating pizza right now and later I might have to do some more house work for Mom.
Also my aunt has been suffering from lack of sleep, so I recommended music for her. I picked her Enigma's Greatest Hits for a remedy - I think it'll work.
Went to church in the morning, and then helped Mom with the living room like yesterday. Afterward, I took my car to the carwash and got it cleaned up. Thank goodness for the free vacuum! I had a lot of dried leaves and sand on the floor mats.
So I came home, had lunch, and immediately passed out on my bed. I've been having to watch the dogs all day since Mom's still painting, so I've had Star Wars playing on the TV. I'm about to pop FFXIII in and play some more of it. It really has become an addictive game!
Tomorrow will be another lazy day, aside from one thing I gotta get done.
Got up and had a bubble bath *never had time for one*, and then got to watch one of my favorite shows - the Steve Wilkos show. Today's episode was crazy.
Anyway, had to do a little work outside, and then I did an online First Aid training course. I've gotta go tomorrow to the Red Cross HQ and do a couple of demonstrations that I know what I'm doing before I get my certification (gotta have that for when I go to Field Camp in May).
So I had Trunks in the Forest just now. Thanks to SS for getting him his pelt and antlers (someone else gave him his mask), and I enjoyed the little bit of time I spent with a couple of my friends. Trunks got a lot of head tilts for wearing the Forest God mask, but that's the point, right? To get it worn more.
That's kind of the plan with Caw, too. The Antelope mask needs more love as well.
Anyway, might lay down for an hour and then I'm going to cook dinner tonight. Comfort food FTW!
Got up early and got breakfast at Waffle House. Then I went to the airport to meet my aunt from San Antonio. My grandparents came as well, who were completely decked out in St. Patty's Day attire, and they brought a huge felt leprechaun hat for me to wear.
We were the only three people aside from my aunt in green at the airport (our airport is really sad, it gets very little business). So I followed my grandparents to their house and hung out for a little while before leaving.
Picked up my paycheck and then came home to give my dogs a bath. Of course Brandy used my bed as her personal towel, but I was lucky that I dried her off enough so it's not soaked.
Got a little bit of a headache tonight so I don't know if I'm going to run in the Forest anymore tonight. Might write the next Unraveling the Wirewood chapter, I dunno yet.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and Friday. Tomorrow I'm taking my dad over the bay for a little fun, and then friday I'm taking my aunt to Bellingrath Gardens. Don't worry, I'm bringing my camera again so there will be more pics (should be some different flowers too since I went in October last time). Afterward we're going to have some sushi.
I took Dad across the bay today. We had Burger King for lunch, and ate at a little lookout picnic area in Spanish Fort, AL.
Dad posing with one of those viewer things.
Dad and me
So we went to the Bass Pro Shop across the street. Dad wanted to go so he could play the laser shooting game (he is insane with it, too! He scored a 400 and I got a 225!!). I picked up some supplies for my camping trip in May, particularly some MREs and tent stakes.
Afterward we went to World Market. I gave him some money to get him something there, and he ended up buying something for Mom instead. Typical. I picked up some Easter gifts and a couple of things for myself - in particular a Bambi Pez dispenser XD.
We hit the Marble Slab Creamery and had some ice cream after that. I tried the chocolate amaretto and it was really good, and he had the sweet cream with cherries.
Finally, before coming home, we picked up some shrimp for dinner tomorrow. I think he enjoyed the day, although I feel bad that he didn't really get anything other than lunch and dessert. I really kind of wanted him to get himself a gift, but he won't spend money.
Well, it was fun anyway, and I was glad to enjoy the day with him.
I am happy you and your dad got to spend some quality time together!
And I laughed when you said you went to Marble Slab, it is just so delicious!
Don't worry about not getting a present for your dad, I'm sure getting to spend time with you is what made him happiest.
Mhmm. He and I talked about it a little while ago. He doesn't really get to have that much fun anymore, and whenever he's out of the house, he's going to the doctor or something. So everything was fine, he just doesn't like to spend money.
Marble Slab was great. A little too much ice cream for the both of us, but it was really fun anyway. And I think he liked looking at the boats and stuff at Bass Pro Shop.
I think I'm being too hard on myself about a lot of things right now. I really need to step back and see things better. Thanks for the advice.
Anyway, got Blixt in the Forest for a while. Fledermaus helped him get his candlers and pelt, and he's really enjoying the weather. I see Laruna's in so he's going to go say hi - he was sitting with Kaoori just now.
I'm already expecting to see him pop up in someone's "who is this?" post
Had a great day with my aunt. Collectively we took more than 100+ pics of Bellingrath Gardens. I went there a while back in October, and today it was completely different. They literally switch out the flowers yearround! Check out the pics here, but be warned, it's a slow computer killer!
We also did a cruise ride out there, which was equally as fun. (We had pina coladas on the ride!)
Went across the bay again with my family. We went to an art festival in Fairhope - I was the only person who bought something. I got a print of a collage of stuff that turns into a deer head.
Of course I later found out it's all related to hunting. Oh well, it's still pretty cool, and hey, I helped the artist community so *nodnodnod* Dunno if I'm allowed to show a picture of it on here or not due to copyright and so on.
So we went back to Daphne and had lunch at O'Charleys, and then came back home. It's 7:00 PM and I want to do something tonight, but I don't know what.
I'm off tomorrow, which is my last day of the break. I've had some great days over my break, and I'm sad that it's all coming to an end, but I have to go back and get this semester done.
Edit - Actually, he has the print I got on his website.

Got a little good news/bad
We have a yard sale on Saturday, and I'm going to put my Project Greenleaf necklaces up for sale. That means that all the ones I had available before may be sold.
HOWEVER
Depending on how much I make off of them, I'll still send ToT a little of the proceeds. After all, they were intended for fundraising.
With that being said, maybe one day I'll be able to make some new ones. I know now I need to put them at cheaper prices, too. Still got plenty of materials to make more.
I'm a little irritated - we
Sadly, most of what she took of my stuff were the Project Greenleaf necklaces, and since she took more stuff of my brothers' than mine, I had to volunteer my stock as the 'loss'.
Sigh...i guess that's life for ya.
:< yeah life tends to suck a
and I know what it's like to have your creations seem a tad belittled, like they've lost their meaning to people >.> but at least they still mean something to you, so that special part of them isn't lost completely |3
Quad's countdown to Spring
5 Days (including today)!
3 exams down, 1 more to go on
Gotta work tomorrow, though, and then it's Spring Break for me. I used my vacation time for next week so I have the entire week off. Definitely need the break after this week.
I hear that. Yay for spring
Though I'll be power-working on my storyboard. |D
*nodnodnod* I'm supposed to
I keep putting off the
So MickKreiger decided to
Maybe there aren't any other options.
Spring Break Day 1 - Got up
Got up early and did some work with Mom in the living room.
Spring Break Day 2 - Went to
Went to church in the morning, and then helped Mom with the living room like yesterday.
Spring Break Day 3 - Got up
Got up and had a bubble bath *never had time for one*, and then got to watch one of my favorite shows - the Steve Wilkos show.
Spring Break Day 4 - Got up
Got up early and got breakfast at Waffle House.
Spring Break Day 5 - I took
I am happy you and your dad
And I laughed when you said you went to Marble Slab, it is just so delicious!
Don't worry about not getting a present for your dad, I'm sure getting to spend time with you is what made him happiest.
Mhmm. He and I talked about
Marble Slab was great.
Spring Break Day 6 - Had a
Had a great day with my aunt.
And after, we had an amazing sushi lunch!
Spring Break Day 7 - Went
Click Here for his site! He has some awesome stuff in his gallery!
