Writing in pictogram glyphs. [added gen1 alphabet]

If anyone's interested I can put together alphabets for 2nd and 3rdgen glyphs~
_____________________________
Um, I had an idea to make a mask and/or antlers based off pictograms? Haven't yet, but I was thinking about designing concepts in the spirit of the game and pictograms really are a huge part of that, and I was thinking about how the glyphs that make up pictos have their own letters/numbers that correspond to each one. And I wanted to try to assemble some sort of message, TEF being the obvious choice, in the 'language' of the forest to inscribe on the set pieces. So I downloaded Aivilo's pictogram builders.

I haven't gone thoroughly through every frame, but in general it seems that for every letter of the alphabet there are two different glyphs in each generation. And each generation can be like it's own dialect. So I combined the two glyphs for each letter, and interlocked the other letters in a diagonal formation to create words:

Translations and which gen each word belongs to:

Not sure how accurate it is in theory, like I might have gotten some of the positions wrong because I didn't completely take into account glyphs that are the same just in a different location. I also know it doesn't fit with everyone's views of pictograms, for instance people who consider their characters names and their pictos to be the same, just translated, or those who like that idea that TEF deer speak an entirely different language. But I did think it was pretty neat and works well enough to form actual readable sentences that I would share for you guys to play around with =)

Some help with hover CSS?

I'm having some trouble with the hover codes over on my space beluga's bio, I currently haven't added any relationship pictos which would have information on hover, but I was testing it out and noticed that the hover boxes will only appear in the confines of div of the relationship box, meaning that part of the description would be cut off. I tried messing with the z-index but it didn't seem to have any effect.

I also tried changing the position from relative to absolute, which worked... but it shifted the things with hover code over slightly to the right for some reason, like so:

Hover....

Any thoughts on how to make it work?

A few free character designs.

Mm I've posted these elsewhere before, but I was considering keeping them myself, now that I've decided I'm not, I don't want them to go to waste. Please use them if you adopt them, and it would be nice if you didn't register a new picto unless you have to.

1. {TAKEN - By MagicHats}This was one of my set reinterpretations, the hands/fan set. I'm really attached to this one, not first come first serve. I would very much like it if you wrote a little about what you plan to do with her character wise, as at the moment she is a blank slate aside from what you can see. She does have ears, they are floppy, and the nature of her mask is up to you.

I have a couple ideas, I believe the hands are holding her eyes shut, not sure why? Possibly blind and has no need of them, or maybe not and she either willingly or unwilling had them closed. Or maybe the hands pull back her eyelids when she wants to open them? Which would pretty cool to animate hmm.

And a lemur tail :3

2. {TAKEN ~ By ClownFace} TEF human faced, albino, spotted bat~ No personality as of now or anything.

3. {TAKEN ~ By Staff} Nightfall pelt concept, no ideas.

...Human requests

shh I've actually wanted to do more of these for a while but seeing more humanized deer art around here finally got me to go ahead with requests.

Three for now, they'll be kind of like this and these (hopefully somewhat better). You can give me as much or as little information of what they look like as humans as you want~

Curious question about views on pictos out of game

Nnrgh tired question... I was thinking about some stuff, and it led to something that I've noticed; you usually don't see a whole lot of character art with their pictos above their heads. I don't usually bother drawing them myself, but it did make me wonder.

How do you all view pictograms? Like out of game, say how a lot of characters actually look very different from in-game avatars, for instance even having hair; when you think of what they 'actually' look like, do you see their pictos as hovering over their heads? Even if your character is special, like keeping it's picto in a black glob under a hat or something do you view other people's characters as naturally having pictos? Or do you consider them as more of an in-game identification feature?

And while I'm on the subject, how do you associate the picto with the character? I mean besides memorizing which one belongs to which deer. Do you view their picto and name they're called as separate, maybe with one being their true name? Do you consider them being one and the same, like the name they are called being the verbal pronunciation of that picto (And how would that work with characters who have the same name but not the same picto?) or whatever else you can think of.

Community Collaboration: Group picture of the characters of the forest

Update:
It's been a while; I've been busy with other things but am ready to focus on this now in addition! I'll need confirmation and updates however on all the names currently listed, whether or not you can still help or I believe certain characters are no longer around? Anyway, still need a lot more names!

What:
I believe that over the years there have been a couple attempts at a sort of group picture of the inhabitants of the forest, but of course there are so many characters it's rather impossible to include everyone, especially with one artist, who may not have a lot of time on their hands. So I had this thought of one huge art/writing (I'll get to that in a minute) collaboration of the community to try to capture as many residents of the forest as possible into a sort of group picture.

It will probably work best as a sort of mural like this, instead of trying to cram them all into one scene.

Who/How:

This collaboration is open to anyone who wants to contribute, or you can just add your character to the list if you aren't an artist.

Artists can draw their own characters or others, different people can work on different aspects like color, shading, backgrounds, and who does what is encouraged to be freely discussed. People who draw traditionally can ask for help making their picture transparent so it can be added in a layer.

I also would like for writers and poets to be able to be a part of this. Written work about the forest and it's various aspects; and those that dwell in it can be added to the picture in unique ways.

More under the cut~
