We do not police the community and we're proud to say that for the most part everyone gets along. This makes us happy as the creators of the joyful, calm experience that The Endless Forest is meant to be!
On this site, if conflict arises, please find a way to solve it and don't sow strife.
One way to be courteous to one another is to give credit if you post an image or use a picture that someone else has made. In other words, don't make someone mad by claiming their words or images as your own. Give credit and make friends by mentioning the name of the creator, and if you do not know where an image came from, say so, and ask if anyone else knows who the author is. Its just good manners.
If something does go horribly wrong you can always email us:
but, honestly, we try not to intervene ...
our advice is usually: solve the problem, have a good time, be good to one another.
all best,
Auriea & Michael

They rarely ever announce it.
Ah, ok. thanks for the info!
Gonna go ahead and bump this.
where do you get to like
Some info for you here
Bumping because this seems
Agreed. I'd normally never
Regardless, I've lost a lot of faith in this community. Everything is about money here now except the game itself and M&A, and now I wish I had never come back to the game and the forums.
Gee, if you're going to
1. We are not paying money for the pictogram.
We are creating ARTWORK. Using our SKILLS and TIME. Not your problem.
It has literally nothing to do with money.
Alison, I think you're
People are trading pictos they already have. They're not creating pictos sorely for the purpose of gaining something. Some have pictos they've given out to new players, others have traded pictos to others in exchange for other pictos. Some will give others pictos for art. There's no 'making pictos for profit' going on around here, and honestly I don't even think that was a thought years ago.
I'm not trying to be rude here at all, but I honestly think you don't know what's going on.
If you don't agree with it, that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but others shouldn't suffer for it.
e: whoops, ninja'd by alcinda.

Just adding - and between generations, when the supply of pictos has run out, people have very generously donated their unused pictograms to players wanting to join but unable to do so at the time.
What's going on here isn't 'pictograms as currency' it's, 'you have something you no longer use/want, and in exchange for your generosity in offering it to me (to be used and cherished again instead of sitting in the dark!) I will give you something I have made for you.'
And that, to me, contributes to, rather than detracts from, the game/community. Old pictograms receive new life, and more Forest-related artwork from two lovely artists is made for the community to enjoy.
@Kaoori, @Aivilo I
I understand that this wasn't a thought forever ago. Because I remember three years ago that no one did it.
I wouldn't have batted an eye if people were passing unused things around for free, but offering payment in the form of art when that's something the person usually often commission in the form of money for is similar enough to offering money that I would consider it fair to compare it to currency. If not currency, certainly commodity would be an appropriate term, and the only real difference between commodity and currency is that I can't pay bills online with commodities.
Bringing that up in the thread I was met with rudeness and disrespect and dismissal as opposed to being ignored politely or being disagreed with politely. I honestly probably wouldn't have emailed to bring it to M&A's attention and ask about it if not for that.
Additionally, to me the highest insult has been the deletion of the thread. A person with clean hands has nothing to hide. Only a person with a sense of guilt who knows that they have said or done wrong removes the evidence.
If M&A don't have a problem with it, I won't either and no one need ever mention it again. But until I get an email back I really don't think there's anything more that needs to be said from me. I've given my reasons and explained them to the best of my ability, so I'll step out and wait patiently.

I didn't delete it because I felt guilty. I reposted it because I didn't want it to be treated like someone's soapbox. You barged in on my blog with a poorly worded post I could barely understand and then continued to post even when I asked you to back off.
Not even going to comment on the rest. What you emailed M&A isn't in any way accurate to what is actually going on. Go ahead, re-link them to the new blog if you want.
Alison - Actually, you
Actually, you don't understand. First sentence in your suck-up, sob-story of an email proves this, unless you were playing innocent and lying to make your tattletale seem more legitimate so M+A could take action in your defense.
What people choose to do with the things they create is none of your business.
What people choose to do with years-old, unused pictograms is also none of your business.
You were met with rudeness because you were well aware of what was going on, you just didn't like it. And also because you have made this into such a fiasco when it had nothing to do with you to begin with.
Wow, Alison, I wasn’t going
@ Alcinda: Even now you are
I do not believe that you would have deleted the things you had posted if you did not feel that they needed to be hidden. You accuse me here of wrongdoing, but if you felt that I had wronged you in some way I would think that you would want to retain any evidence of that and let the thread fall to the bottom after renaming it something like "don't post".
I really don't enjoy talking about this and am waiting for a response of any kind to my email. If you are just going to continue being confrontative rather than addressing points or requesting clarification I have nothing to discuss.
@Sighthoundlady: That was not clear in the slightest. I cannot reevaluate it with sarcasm in mind since it's gone. That said, it wouldn't change the main point of my question to M&A regarding the treatment of pictographs and accounts as currency.
@Ravynn: It's not my business, it's M&A's. But I'm an empathetic person and if I were in either of their shoes I would be bothered, which is the reason I spoke up initially. I play this game at least in part because I adore pictographs and they've held hours and hours of my focus of the game. I could speak at length about it, but I'll say that yes, I am as emotional about them as many people probably are about their characters, and I certainly feel a great deal of emotions when I imagine myself in others' shoes. But as Sighthoundlady said, I misinterpreted something she said in the thread when I emailed them. It was my mistake for not seeing the sarcasm.
Unwilling to let things
I stopped responding to you on my blog and deleted it (essentially 'dropping' the conversation) so it wouldn't escalate further. I was done. But then you brought it up again on this blog with a screencap of an email that is so inaccurate and cringe-worthy, I felt that I needed to reply.
I'm not going to address your points because it has already been established that we don't agree that art = currency in this context. It's clear that none of us are going to change your mind.
We're just going to talk in circles so I'm done.
Quote:These names are art
If you consider pictographs as art, and you have stated that you do, then Alcinda and Wake offering artwork in return as a trade, makes this: An. Art. Trade.
Offering art in return for pictos - art trade
Offering art for art - art trade
Picto for picto - art trade
Does real money...real, tangible, paper money, coins, etc, and all that jazz, get involved?
No.
I know this isn't really my
I highly doubt anyone had the slightest clue that Gen 1 pictograms would meet their max, and that M&A would have to create a system for Gen 2s (let alone Gen 3s). What resulted I honestly believe were a sharing of the Gen 1s with those who happened to register extras that they decided they didn't need anymore. I originally had somewhere along the lines of 8 or 9 accounts, each a different character and a different pictogram. I don't play so much anymore so I gave away most of mine (I have four pictograms left), and I hardly even remember if I got any form of 'payment' or 'compensation' for the accounts. It really doesn't matter to me, I just know that pictograms I registered that were sitting unused are now in the hands of more active players. If I was paid in any way, it was artwork that was freely given in return for it. I truly don't see any harm, malice, or greed in it, but that's just me.
Anyway, I feel like this 1-year old topic has been kind of derailed. M&A have more important things going on than our petty arguments. That was sort of the reason they posted this topic in the first place, so we would figure this stuff out without having to resort to going to them about it.

Um, yes, what he said had direct correlation to the dispute that just happened (he posted -right- after it ended). In any case this goes for a lot of situations where a heated argument ends, then someone posts on this thread making a comment that fuels another argument.
But aight.
To be the devils advocate,
But either way, lets just take this post for what it's originally meant for?

Sean Bean! That's awesome,
Anyway, on topic.
People need to learn to love each other. Peace and love, man.
Peace and love.
Ask him if Winter is coming
Tell him your favorite movie
My partner has this pipe dream of finding actors and telling them that his favorite movie of theirs is their worst movie. E.g., "Oh Kevin Bacon I loved you in Tremors!" (Though I don't care what anyone says, I love Tremors and it's a great movie) just to see what the reaction is and whether they're a good sport about gushing fans. I loved Silent Hill too but the critics sure whined like they always do.
Woah Johnny Depp, that's so
Hahaha omg ok I'll ask him all the things. 8|
What's also ironic is that there is The Shire in Lotr, and me and Sean Bean live in two of the many "shires" in the UK: Derbyshire, Yorkshire...
Anyway I'll stop derailing this thread now. xD
