Tenley's picture

Tenley's Day.

Her head was hanging low to ground, her hooves dragging behind her. She was so deppresed since it had happened. Poltergeists death. It had left her shocked and sad. She didn't know poltergeist, but she was still strangely sad. She stared at the ground as if were staring through it. Her tail hung between her legs, swinging back and forth. She stopped and looked up at the sky. " look up at the stars huh, polt?", she smiled and lifted her head slightley. She looked around to see if she could spot others around. none. She sniffed the air, shifting uncomfortabley. She lowered her ears and flicked her tail. She looked around cautiousley, looking to spot any danger. SHe licked her lips and walked forward. She trotted up to a mushroom tree and and scratched at the dirt at the base of the tree. SHe lowered her head and tucked hard at the partially dug up root. She tugged and tugged, finally ripping it out. She chewed it slowely for a while, thinking about why she cared so much about a deceased stranger. She was lost in deep thought when she soon realized she still was chewing the root. She swallowed and kept digging and eating. After she had eaten all she wanted, she turned abruptley and started walking towards the pond for a cool drink, but saw a deer standing there. She stared at him for a long moment and whispered,"hi...?", she lowered her head and cautiousley approuched him. She raised her head and flicked her ear. She sniffed his neck and looked up at him." Hello!", he replied. She smiled slightley." Your the only deer i have seen around her for quit a while!", her smile faided. her ears dropped and she closed her eyes." whats wrong?" the stag asked, also dropping his ears."nothing", she acted happy and changed the subject."so, wanna hangout?", she said randomley. "sure!", He raised his ears happily and smiled, turning to trot over to another group of deer. She didn't know they were there the whole time.

Why do I love you so much?

I watched you grow up... From the time you were a fawn... Being all noobish and having no idea what to do. I can remember that like it was yesterday. But, now look at you... What a fine deer you have become. Graceful and elegant. I couldn't have wanted more.

Do you remember the time when many deer had gathered near the crying idol? You were so small. And you were thrilled over your new secretary bird pelt. It was adorable. I have a picture! But, I'm just making you feel embarrassed.

The day you became an adult make my heart skip a beat. Finally, time to get down to business! I had already planned your apparel out. Oh, and so many deer were amazed at your new body! They helped get you your colors. I thank them. I wish... That the days of innocence and bliss would never end, but then, what sort of world would that be? Everything must age.

I love you...

I write this now because I want to give it to you. Like a letter.

So, I must say farewell for now... But, 'till you get this, remember those times, and think of me. <3

Return to Nature - Story IV

Return to Nature Index

It's raining outside on a weekend afternoon. You have nowhere to go today, so you stay inside and think of something to do to pass the time. You sit in a chair, wrapping up in a blanket as you start to read a book. Slowly you drift to sleep.

Your eyes open and you find yourself in the dream world once more, though this time it is very cold. You are still wrapped in your blanket, and sitting up you look around. You are in a snow-covered forest, the snowflakes are slowly coming down, and the area has a slight fog that prevents you from seeing deeply into the distance. You notice hoofprints in the snow, and much like before you follow them, knowing who they belong to.

You find a clearing in the forest where the tracks seem to stop. You notice something in the center - a great ice boulder. It seems very odd to you that it is in the middle of the place, as there aren't any others around. You put a hand on it, and see that there is something trapped inside - a sword with intricate patterns etched into the blade.

"That belongs to you.", someone says nearby. You recognize the voice, seeing your deer has arrived. "How do I get to it?", you ask your deer. "Very simple, draw my pictogram in the snow before the ice, and it will melt.", your deer responds.

You do so without hesitation. You know your deer's pictogram well - you were the one who chose it. As the symbol is drawn, it glows a bright yellow, and you watch in amazement as another pictogram burns into the ice, and quickly the sword melts out and glistens as the light shines on it.

"Quickly, we're not alone in this forest.", your deer says. You take the sword, which seems much heavier than you expected, but you are able to lift it. You examine the blade and see that your deer's pictogram is engraved into it.

In the night... (please comment :D)

Tell me, what is your name friend?
Why do you glow so bright?
I feel as if I've known you
Once before
tonight

Pray,
come into the moonlight
come here, love
sit with me

Listen.
all the air is breathing...
Friend, tell me what this means
I feel the glow around me

but why?
why can't I see

the moon sings loud but softly
while you lead me away
Tell.

Friend,
where are we going?
I cannot find a trail

This glow...
...this wandering moon-song
it leads me home at night

But, friend...
why are you fading?
Am I pulling away?

Pray, hope
friend take me with you...
...The ground is far too cold
Please,

Love, don't dissapear now
Your feet don't touch the ground
...How must I find my way back?

Back where I should belong

My friend,
Pray
Love
I'm hoping

Can we go home again?

Return to Nature - Story III

Return to Nature Index

You have a hard time getting to sleep this night. You don't know why you are so awake, maybe you are excited or anxious about something tomorrow. Slowly you begin to close your eyes, and you finally drift to sleep.

Opening your eyes, you think you are still in the darkness of your room, but things look different. The place is still dark...you can almost barely see anything, really. The only light you notice nearby is a lone street lamp, and as it is the only thing you can seem to see in the area, you are drawn to it.

The street lamp illuminates only the area around it, letting off a warm golden glow. It is a tall and black, the shape of the light seems strangely familiar to you. Crickets chirp off in the distance, the only sound in your surroundings. You notice that a few moths are circling around the light, and you then see that it is an electric bulb and not a flame.

You then begin to think about this place. The other places you have visited didn't seem to have any kind of civilization or presence of humans, where this place obviously shows signs of electricity. This is very curious to you.

You aren't expecting it, but a crow flies by and perches onto the lamp, looking down at you and cawing loudly. You nearly jump out of your skin, staring up at the bird as you catch yourself from falling over. You watch as the bird picks off the moths flying around the light. This must be its usual feeding place. You feel bad for the insects that are eaten, but eventually come to the conclusion that it is part of nature.

The crow, well fed, caws out one more time before flying off. You watch the bird disappear into the darkness, and feel like your only friend in the place has abandoned you. You start to hear something, though, coming toward you.

You're just so beautiful.

When you break.

He can feel it;

Her claws over his flesh, running along ridges where feathers once lay, now a mere crown upon her head, of blood and sky.

those paws, her paws, over jaggedness, a once horn, spiraled, beautiful, broken, beautifully broken.

you are mine

Epilogue - Bartleby Is Born

"Where... Where am I?"

"I feel so cold..."

"Jergens? Are you out there?"

"I'm sorry..."

"I'm sorry I got angry with you..."

"Do you..."

"Do you still love me?"

"..."

"Whos there?! Jergens?!"

"We are here."

"We?"

"Yes, We."

"Who is 'We'?"

"We... The Twin Gods of The Endless Forest..."

"You... exist?"

"Yes."

"Why are you here?"

"We've come to punish you."

"Punish me?"

"You killed one of our children. You must be punished."

"The blind deer?"

"One of our children is dead because of you..."

"It tried to kill me..."

"Our baby..."

"I'm sorry..."

"Our child..."

"I'M SORRY!!!"

"We have decided... that you shall be reborn..."

"Reborn? How is that punishment?"

"You shall be reborn into the body of a newborn fawn... Never to grow... And never to die... Your pelt shall be of white, a mockery of us. Your fellow deer will stop at nothing to kill you for it."

"I don't deserve this..."

"Your hooves shall be of solid gold, so you will not easily run away from your foes. Your eyes shall be of blood red, to represent the needless blood you have shed."

"..."

"No matter how much your body is mangled, torn and ripped, it will never die.
