Something in the air.

The morning air was still, like before a storm. A section of the pond bank was unnaturally quiet,
no frogs hopped,
nor did a breeze slither though the stunted cats tails. Even the water in this section was like
polished glass, it didn't lap at the bank as it usually did.

A loud crack, like thunder broke the stillness. Small at first, but growing bigger was a hot
white light. In a matter of seconds it grew from a pinpoint to a mini sun, without all the
heat. There was a vibration in the air, like a hum if one listened hard enough. A limp
form slipped from the large ball of light, it was a mere silhouette.

The Encounter. [Syringe and Tabiu fanwriting.]

A leaf cracked as it was crushed with a blunt hoof. More met their fate soon after, their broken forms laid out in an orderly trail. Wisps of cold air blew out from the nostrils of a young fawn, back still coated in neat white spots. Eyebrows creased in irritated concentration, he stalked along. 'It's freezing.' he scowled, making a show of blowing out even more cold air. Oh how he despised this weather. Another form walked silently past him, though it appeared to have not seen him yet. Syringe blinked and cocked his head, watching the figure get smaller and smaller. He made the decision to follow, and bounded after the tall grasses. Following a few feet behind, he took extra care not to make himself noticed.

He got a good look at the stag in front of him, whom was quite large and intimidating. Gray hairs flowed into place on his body, small scars were encrypted into his thighs and lower legs. They didn't seem to be caused by another deer, but... His thoughts were brought to a halt when a loud snort blasted into his ears. The young fawn shrank back, then jerked his body upright again defensively. The stag was staring at him, displeasure clearly written across his features. His stare was menacing, but most horrific of all was the tightly wrapped fabric across his mouth. It drew his lips together in an uncomfortable looking way, and there were hints of blood on the dull yellow cloth. Syringe dared to snort back, focusing on the others eyes rather than the deformed mouth. The grayish eyes glared back, and narrowed as the stag came closer, chest puffed out in warning. The fawn stayed put, determination rooting him into the ground. Confusion took the stag, and he gingerly sniffed the fawn's scent. 'Never smelled him before.' he thought, and shook his head. Nodding once, he turned his back to Syringe and settled on the dry dirt of the Birch Forest. The fawn plopped down right beside him, their fur lightly touching.

A Simple Act of Kindness (Non-TEF Shortstory)

*Might be too mature for younger readers or those who have lost pets before*

Beep...beep...beep...beep...

The rhythm was steady, a monitor displayed that his heart rate was elevated but not strained. The deer's eyes opened just slightly, he couldn't keep them open for very long. Bright lights hovered above him, and his body was slowly becoming more and more numbed from the injections they had put into him.

A gloved hand caressed his neck. He listened to the voices of the veterinarians who were doing everything the could to save him. He didn't understand them, but their voices were more than enough to soothe his mind.

The stag closed his eyes, weeping just a little. The past few days had been nothing but pain for him, but he felt just a little comfort as he lay on the padded operating table. A simple cloth covered most of his body, there was enough exposed for the vets to inspect.

His skin was rotting away.

~~~
"Where did you find him at?", one of the vets, an older woman, asked a high-school boy who sat in the waiting room of the clinic.
"He was walking down the street.", the boy replied, "Not too far from here."
The boy was worried about the deer. He had led the animal to the vet clinic, looking for help from anyone. The deer had been grunting and moaning with every step he had taken on that long road.
"What is it? Do they know what happened to him?", the boy asked.
The vet shook her head, "They've never seen a case like this. They think he might have been exposed to radiation contamination, but for now they're not sure. We wouldn't even know where he came from."
The boy lowered his head. "Hey...", the vet said, kneeling down to meet him at eye level, "You did a brave thing bringing him here. I'm sure he really appreciates that someone would care for him like you did."
At that time, another vet came in. The two looked to the man, who sighed and shook his head.
Oaken Wisdom (TEF Shortstory)
Quad awoke to find countless other deer around, all calling out, dancing, laughing...
But he didn't feel that way today. There were many things on his mind and every moment he sat there listening to the others made his heart cringe. He needed some space, he needed silence.
The fat antelope stood and walked away, past his friends, past new fawns who wanted to play with him. He didn't want to be around them at the moment. He just wanted a little peace to clear his head.
He soon found the Old Oak, the tree invited him in and sheltered him like a mother doe would shelter her fawn. The blackbuck stepped into the closed space, his antlers barely fitting through the entrance. There he sat on the cool soil, listening to the hum of the oak as the wind breezed steadily into it. He closed his eyes and meditated, taking long, deep breaths.
And at that moment, everything stopped. He cleared his head, his body calmed and relaxed. He didn't know what he was so upset about, but it didn't seem to matter anymore.
Nature has a wonderful way to ease our stress, and often it is right there before us, just asking to help.
The challenge is accepting help when we're too caught up with our daily lives.
:. [ Truth's Death (Poem) ] .:
[=10][center][i]I dreamed from the back of a rotting horse
You and me and a vision of us
We walked like kings and we grew pale wings
We saw no death no ill despair
But soon he came and he said to me
'Your love will arrive and the old one flee'
Believed him not and cast him out
Too foolish to see the desert
Oh, oh, kingdom of the sky, kingdom of the sea and the air I breathe
He came to me on my horse and wings
And he said it was ending
Oh, oh, kingdom of the earth, kingdom of my country my home I fear
The days of dark are drawing near
I see no escaping
I thought I saw as my horse ploughed on
A glimpse of a being in an instant long gone
I dreamt that night of a dying flame
And I woke in the morning
The sun blazed down from the heavens above
From God and his haven and his lone white dove
My prayer heard my will be done
Do not let her leave me
Oh, oh, kingdom of the sky, kingdom of the sea and the air I breathe
He came to me again last night
And said it was ending
Oh, oh, kingdom of the earth, kingdom of my country my home I fear
My will be done my prayer heard
I want her to leave me
The masquerade and beguiling shade
Drew me to its splendour
I danced and wove and I saw no move
Made towards me
I felt he lied and I felt she cried
As I honoured our memory
For how could I have loved so much
Then let it die from a few words?
Oh, oh, people of their word, people of the poor and the rich I beg
Take care of her in later life
For now I am leaving
Oh, oh, spirit of the land, guardian of the angels and prophets I plead
Think not of I as wicked or cruel
I obeyed his prediction
A million moons did pass the time
I watched them circle by
I ran and fled and flew with broken wings
And still heard no new cry
I felt he lied and began to cry
Wishing no happiness would come by
For if I'd gone and left the one
What life could I have?
Oh, oh, kingdom of the sky, kingdom of the sea and the air I breathe
Tears from the Moon (Vent Archive.)
[=aqua]
Couldn't sleep so I went out walking
Thinking about you and hearing us talking
And all the things I should have said
Echo now, inside my head
"Like the thousands of tiny pinkish red lights that had once gathered into one grand entity, only to be destroyed by becoming encoded into data by one man, so are the faces of this world.
Countless beings, strange and unique.
But like the hearts we seek, there are the select few that stand out to each of us."
I feel something falling from the sky
I'm so sad I made the angels cry
Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain
"That little blue one...
"She is not unlike terpantine. Sweet, but deadly to our kind."
Wounded, perhaps crippled for life.
And I could do nothing to protect her, except what could only hurt her worse...
Because she would never understand why.
To have stood by her side, instead of his...
Would have sealed her death.
I'm...
...so sorry...
Vivian...
Tears from the moon, tears from the moon...
It just ain't fair, this thing called loving
When ones still there and the other feels nothing
I would have done anything for you...
Even now, though Nobodies have no emotions...
Tears threaten to spill from these eyes at your memory...
And I silently cry into the fallen king's remainder of a pelt when he sleeps,
to hide the fact.
I observed you when news first reached my ears, before rejoining the fallen king.
My chest ached, and I almost believed myself to be... heartbroken.
Your broken image is engraved in my mind.
As is the care I had for you.
You will never understand, and I don't blame you.
Water
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.
Author: Norman Fitzroy Maclean
Source: A River Runs Through It
I am haunted by waters. Water touches our lives in so many ways as a blessing and as a curse. Before we are born we are entombed in water in the womb. When we are born we are placed in another womb where we have to find the water and its many meanings. Our very bodies are mostly water and all water is a side product of the birth of stars. As a star is born their is an outflow of gas and dust that in a shockwave thrusts itself into the others gas and dust and the result is the birth of water. Water is a the main element of earth and without water there is no life there. It is a central component of religion and spirtuality. It is said the nearer one is to water by ritual or in dreams the nearer one is to the divine consciousness. It flows and changes all it touches and carries away what ever it cleanses. It releases the darkness and poison in us when our tears flow. Its sounds many times soothe us but ofter frighten us when it rages during a storm or flood. When experiencing the endless forest I and others are drawn to the water. There is this need to hear it, to drink from the pond, and to listen to its sound. The rushing water from the stone mother figure is a comfort. The mother is big enough to entomb oneself in if needed. It is a place to stand and clear ones mind. The water cleanses us from unwanted spells or sometimes one just wants a start over cleansing and takes a dip in the pond. Occasionally like life I just fall in and am transformed. I am haunted by waters because I know to be touched by the waters is be be changed.
