The Quietus Society (non-TEF shortstory)

(random story I wanted to start. Not sure where I'm going to take it but enjoy this introduction Eye )

Chapter 1 -

A shadow moved quickly through a dark night. Running swiftly but silently, his legs carried him on a sidewalk that wound up a hill. He took the side of the road that had no lights, although this late at night, nobody would ever see him.

He stopped at the top of the hill, finding a house on the side he was on. He made sure he had the right address, and he knew the simple layout of the house like the back of his hand. He sneaked past the few cars in the driveway and leapt over a makeshift fence. He climbed onto an air conditioning unit that sat underneath a window. Peering in, past a very slight crack in the curtains, he could see a young man sleeping in a queen-sized bed.

The creature reached out and placed his scaly hand onto the window. Waving his index talon, he manipulated the lock on the window, it sliding out of the lock. He was able to open any door, window, and lock just like this. Lifting the window, he grimaced as the sound of the window sliding was slightly noisy. He watched as a sleeping dachshund lifted her head instinctively.

The dog began to growl just as the creature got the window open wide enough for him to sneak in. He cloaked himself and leapt into the room, past a desk cluttered with books and things that was behind the window. The dachshund raised her head in alarm, but as soon as the creature landed, he grabbed a handful of powder from a pouch on his belt and grabbed the dog's mouth. The dachshund struggled for a moment, then her eyes closed and she rested her head and fell back asleep.

The noise made the young man in the bed awake and sit up. At that moment, the creature ducked onto the floor, his scaly body changing color and blending in with his surroundings. He was a master of camouflage, even the cloak that wrapped his body blended in with the place.

The man looked around.

Forgiveness

Push play for the full effect ♥

It was raining in the forest again, a type of day that Cloud usually dreaded. However, this time, he felt unburdened. One might have even said he was blissful. His mind was at ease, the usual flashbacks that often plagued him during the rain were strangely absent. The howling of the wolves, the visions of blood and the roar of the thunder were silent. There was only the sound of the rain.

Cloud found himself galloping through the driving rain, almost dancing. He leapt and turned circles, letting his hooves carry him to nowhere in particular. Soon, he skidded to a dead halt in the birch forest, not far from the playground. He stood still, face turned skyward and his eyes closed tight. Suddenly, a laugh rose in his chest and tore through his throat. He laughed until his sides hurt and tears leaked from the corner of his eyes.

"What’s wrong with me today?" He wondered aloud.

With a shake of his sodden coat, he retreated to his favorite tree near the playground.

Dynamite, Darling (said Emmy)

Ever since I heard about Evelyn McHale via the gorgeous band Parenthetical Girls, I've been wanting to write something vaguely related. Once I started, I have not been able to think clearly until I finished it, but that might be the Benadryl and Zyrtec |D;

Anyways, I haven't been able to play around with Emm's thoughts lately, and this turned out to be a very fun exercise c:
She's turning into a real Dominique Francon, I must say! AMIRIGHT OR AMIRIGHT? /Ayn Rand fangasm

Rubies in the Pond - Chapter Twelve: Empathy Resonance

At long last, here it is! After two years I'm going to start trying to finish this fanfic. I do believe this chapter will be somewhat lame in quality because I haven't written for so long, but let's see, shall we? Also, Virgil will get a slightly bigger part later on. It will involve swinging from trees naked.

The volley of raindrops and veil of mist surrounding the Pond had lifted in the early hours of the morning, where the fight had taken place. Just as before, when Cutlery died, the body of water had been tarnished with patches of blood; the two combatants each had their share of malevolence. Crumpled amongst the reeds lay Vipin, his wounds being examined by a selection of those whom deemed themselves capable. Ephra lay beside him, speaking softly and slowly with words of explanation to Vipin. She explained how she had encountered the Demon Gazelle in the middle of the night and survived. She spoke of how she met with Walter beside the Pond, of how he was trapped in a world between worlds. All the time Vipin listened silently, his weakened expression twitching whenever the doe treating him happened to be too inconsiderate.

It took some time until Ephra was finished explaining. Vipin, requiring time to recuperate and heal, allowed her departure whilst in turn allowed himself to be escorted away to the Ename ruins by persistant healers and others concerned for his safety. The doe turned and began a slow walk towards the border of the Birch Forest, lost in her own meditation and emotional magnitude. The catastrophe of the night before had claimed her hope and left woe in it's place. She had seen how badly Vipin and Walter had torn each other apart.. How was there any chance he was going to survive now? A body could not exist without the heart..

Ahead of the drifting female, the large fountain contained within a mushroom ring became visible, although Ephra did not acknowledge it.

Overwhelmed (TEF Shortstory)

*Hypothetical story about Quad and the Deadly Trio (Iugulare, Anirapio, and Nekumbra). Contains graphic content so be warned. I haven't decided if this really happens in my stories or what but either way it follows the artwork request I had where Quad is defeated by the Deadly Trio. Anyway, enjoy*

It wasn't working. Quad couldn't get his powers to activate, and at the worst time, too. The three monsters were after him, and all he could do was run. He had to get them away from the other deer, he couldn't risk them getting hurt.

The deer maneuvered as quickly as he could through the Forest, he knew the place all too well. Just coming up with an idea on how to stop the Deadly Trio was the problem. He didn't have his wings, so he couldn't use his powers of light against them. All he had were his antlers, and even they seemed useless against those three.

He skidded to a halt, listening out for them. Did he lose them? Did he have time to think...?

And at that moment, a blast of webbing struck him. He became tangled in the sticky silk, as a doe seemed to fall from the canopy onto him. "Shh...it'll only hurt for a moment.", Nekumbra whispered to him, and at once bit into his neck.

Quad cried out, but then he felt his body relax on its own. The venom in Nekumbra's fangs was a tranquilizer on adult deer, though it was fatal to fawns. He couldn't move, but his eyes were wide open, and he cringed as the spider deer pressed him up onto her belly, her mouth drooling as she sunk her fangs into his spine. He couldn't save himself as she drew blood, drinking from his veins, draining him.

He felt dizzy as she released him, but he could barely move as the other two approached.
