I wish the creators would make a chat IN the game, Not on the site.
I mean it's cool to be social on the site but darn, Put a type chat in the game it would be WAY Funner.
I gotta disagree pretty wholeheartedly. Lack of verbal communication is what MAKES this game. Body language and communication is key and no one relies on the crutch of a real language. If you really want, you could run a chat client at the same time as the forest to talk to other players you've planned ahead with. For most chatter purposes this site does fine.
But in the forest, we're just deer. We run around and and eat pinecones and sit down together and enjoy the forest. And it's totally awesome. Human talk would be distracting.
I agree. The endless forest's trademark, in my opinion, is its disconnection from humanity and lack of chat boxes. In the forest, it works with your imagination and your interpretative skills to try and understand the gestures of the other deer. Some deer use the same gestures you do, but to them it means something different. It's like creating a language.
Chat boxes have a rather long history of filter issues as well as people abusing them with spam, rude comments, and trolling. A good example of this would be feral hearts. Without the chat boxes, players would be wolves or lions of different shapes, sizes, and colors, interacting with one another and racing around. With the chat box there is clear communication, but..... it's a more desperate form. People begging for mates, trying to take over areas of the map and claim them when it's open world or creating vulgar chat sessions describing explicit actions eventually even took over the game. it's hard to find decent people there, and I left because of the poor community.
What we've created WITHOUT the chatbox however, is a community of individuals who grow to understand each other. People are putting more time into their characters, and I've barely ever seen anyone get into an actual aggressive fight in the forest. (( out of character wise. Even in character it's rare for me to see it))
However, if you would like a chat client to speak with other people on a microphone or in a chat box, I would suggest getting team speak 3. It's easy to set up and create a server which you can password protect should an unwanted guest join.
You have several options to chat while you play, the most popular of which is Skype. Many of us have Skype accounts that we use for in-game chatter. Otherwise, it is easy enough to just talk here.

the human language lacks of many things and it's open to misunderstandings, many times leads to hurtful words and things like that.
curious as it sounds, the deer's language doesn't .

Back when I was still new-ish to the game back in 2011, I wished the same thing as you. I was frustrated at the fact that I could not communicate with others by text or chat. Sometimes I still have a brief frustration from it, but I have also realized that the chatroom would possiblhy make the game less worth it and unique and beautiful as it is. I mean, the game itself is drama-free. There is no cussing or innopropriot usernames of people being trolled in the game BECAUSE there are no chatrooms and the beautiful thing that they made (pictos) to replace usernames flying over the characters in the gamee. I think the fact that we use pictograph signs and body languege in replacement of text and usernames is beautiful and I actually hope they never add chatrooms, now XD
I actually love the lack of words.
When I found this site, I learned that the first people to play with me don't understand English at all but it didn't matter because the forest made it easier to communicate with our hearts rather than our cultures.
This game was meant to be a sort of moving painting when it was made. I won't get into it, it's better to learn for yourself ^^ If you want a chat in game, I suggest moving to a game like Feral Heart.
I disagree on this totally. If we had chat boxes in the game I would quit, this game is unique and does not deserve nasty chatboxes. That would make this game like FeralHeart,or second life, roblox ect.
