The 'gentle' singing of the bull frogs echoed threw the vast area of the pound. Each lily-pad was the sitting place of one of these slimy amphibians and all sang in chores. Ribbit. Ribbit. One of the frogs stopped as its lily-pad seemed to move and bubbles ripples from beneath it. With an uninterested expression the from was about to continue and join in with his fellow hoppers, but then the lily-pad lifted out of the water. A pair of green eyes blinked from under the lily-pad and the chores of frogs went to a stop. Looking up, the green eyes watched the bull frog that sat upon her head. "Excuse me . . ." It quickly leaped into the water.

Out from the pound rose a figure. Her pelt green like the algae that clung to the rocks and pound floor. Ears pointed and tail long. She had the appearance of any other doe, but not like any other doe. Looking around, seeing if anyone was in sight, she made her way to the edge of the pound. Stepping out. Water dripped off of her and onto the ground. The lily-pad and water-lily were still rested on top of her head like a little hat.

Cedrelÿa was drowsing under a tree, situated on the pound's edge. While she was in her thoughts, thinking desperatly that she was the only doe with fins, she noticed this little green creature get out of the water. She was obviously not exactly like her, but Cedrelÿa couldn't stop to look at her ... She was captivating by this little doe, and even if she doesn't like so much disturb strangers, she started to stand up, and walked quietly to the adorable little thing. She snuffled the water-lily on her head, and had a light cringe. Erf, that smelled the frog ... She lowered the head more, and snuffled this time her little muzzle. And told her, clumsily "Hum ... Well ... So sorry to disturb you little one but ... Well, that seems curious for you certainly but ... I wondered: do you live in the pound ?"
Cedrelÿa blushed and felt so silly at this moment.

The little green doe was

The little green doe was about to walk up upon the land of the shore, but held her step to see a larger doe was already under the tree Lily was going to lay under. How could the little doe over look this blue deer sleeping under the tree. It was to late to jump into the waters and hide away. To pretend none of this had happen and take her 'sun bath' another day. So Lily held still, gazing up at the other. Who seemed very capable to follow her if she did try to jump into the pound anyway. Lily has seen this doe a few times, but of course the tiny thing rather say in the pound then try and attempt her abilities at socialization. The question was simple, and Lily did reply ever so softly. ". . .yes, yes I do." She paused for a moment, "But . . . could you not . . .. tell anyone?' Lily did like privacy . . . at least she thinks she does. The doe has never got much chance to have company. Besides the frogs and fish.

Ced was a little suprised

Ced was a little suprised about this answer ... This tiny doe seemed to be greatly discrete. She was thinking that maybe, this green creature had been insulted because of her "water trappings", like herself. So obviously, she finally understood why this little thing would be as secret as possible. Cedrelÿa gazed the green doe, smiling almost like a mother who wanted reassure her little one. "For sure, I can ... Hum ... By chance, do you want enjoy the sun near me, under the tree where I was sleeping ? Or we can sit down in the pond, if you prefer be more discrete ... But I don't want disturb you, maybe you want be alone ... I also like be alone too, so I could easily understand."

Cedrelÿa was a real "chatterbox" ... it's not in her habits ... But as it's the first time she saw a water doe, she absolutly wanted know more about her life and origins. After asked her question, she felt as if she was too oppressing, and began to look intensively the ground, her ears lowered back her head.

The tiny doe blinked a few

The tiny doe blinked a few times. Did she do something wrong? Was that not what you said to another? Oh, that's right. She forgot a polite please. Well, that is what happens when you don't socialize as often as most. The long tail that hung behind her twitched a few times, still dripping with pound water. ". . . well I was actually coming up to lay in the sun." Looking up to the sky, the sun was just in the right place to warm a doe, and not burn her. Lily's voice was tiny, soft and shy. Glancing past the taller doe. Slow at first she walked by the other, then stood in a nice spot in the soft grass. If someone looked close, they might have never noticed the tiny body imprint in the ground from Lily.

As she stood there, Lily saw the other doe seemed a little troubled. Was it something Lily said? "But umm . . . it is alright with me if you . . . sat here too. I don't mind so much." She moved to rest in the grass, letting her tail lay out to dry. Seeing this aquatic doe surprised the green deer. She had never seen her so close before, only seeing her and many others on the shore.

Cedrelÿa first didn't say

Cedrelÿa first didn't say nothing, and observed attentively the tiny green doe starting lay down on the green grass, without move to follow her ... If she didn't followed her with eyes, she never found the little doe, well camouflaged in the middle of this green grassy expanse. Shyly, she began to walk to her new friend ... And sat down near her. A silly thought suddenly went through her mind: If someone see her here, talking ... Would he think she's talking to a ghost ? ... Nevermind ... She was silent, before dare asking her softly, despite her deep voice: "So ... You told me that you live in the pond ... But since when ? I never seen you here few months ago ... Are you alone or do you live with your family in these waters ?"

Cedrelÿa strongly hoped that the tiny doe will answer that she has some family members living with her ... That will let her to meet other deers of aquatic type. But if the green doe always lived in the pond, they definitly don't have the same origin ... As her mother's family lived in the Sea.

Cedrelÿa put her head on the soft and warm grass, closing her eyes to better appreciate the answer of her friend.

With her chin rested on the grass, her bright eyes followed the other. Long tail twitched back and forth behind her, drying in the sun. Soon her fur began to grow fluffy, no longer wet and clumping together. "As long as I can recall. The pound has always been my home." Lily replied to the larger does question. Pointed ears twitched a little bit, thinking to herself. She saw a couple frogs in the pound sitting on their lily-pads watching then with their huge round eyes. Taking forever to blink. The little doe was not from the sea, that was for sure. She wasn't even able to actually breath under water, only hold her breath for almost a hand full of hours with ease. This doe seemed nice. She use to assume others would never like it, they didn't when she was a fawn. Many claimed her as ugly, not right. To different. So, she went away and was forgotten. Till, now.

"What is your . . . name?" The little doe raised her head up, looking right at the other before gazing back into the pound once again.

Cedrelÿa listened carefully

Cedrelÿa listened carefully to the little doe ... She was a little deceived that her new friend didn't answer to the question about her family, but she guessed it was because she doesn't have family ... Ced felt sorry for her, and wanted reassure her and show her that she can count on her if she needs a presence or to be defended. But as she didn't know her enough, she didn't want frighten her with excessive familiarity.

The warmth of the Sun was really pleasant and calming. But, as it's often the case, some old scales of Ced were itchy ... She strongly wanted to rub against a tree, but thought it would be impolite to interrupt the tiny doe. She clenched her teeth, and gazed at the green doe, squinting because of the blinding light: "My name is Cedrelÿa ... And yours ?" Ced waited for her answer, her face yet contorted.

The algae green doe was nice

The algae green doe was nice and toasty now, all of her pelt was dried and puffed up. Might seem to make Lily a little bigger now but she was still small compared to many doe in this forest. Long tail twitched, barely grazing the other doe before wrapping around herself. So the other was called Cedrelÿa. She said it to herself, ". . .Cedrelÿa" It was a nice name, "Lily . . . my name is Lily." She looked up to Ced, taking note the other seemed a little uncomfortable. She glanced at the pound and began to stand. "If you like . . . I'm going to go back in . . ." Her pointed ears twitched, standing fully now. "And you are welcome to join, after all, you seemed built for the water." Even more then little Lily did. Walking over, she set a hoof into the pound. A frog blinked at her then disappeared into the reeds near the shore.

The finned doe was thinking

The finned doe was thinking that "Lily" was a really sweet name, and that she really deserved it. "What a charming name ! " she said, with a large smile on her face. "And for sure, it would be a pleasure to spend time with you in the pond, making some bubbles ". Cedrelÿa likes swim too ... She has the particularity to be able to stay indefinitely under the water ... It's the specificity of marine deers, as Flyleaf told her recently. The tall doe was now slowly walking until the pond with the tiny doe. She dived under the quite warm water, deploying the four little fins she had behind each leg ... And started swimming, wishing her new friend would quickly join her to race with her in the deepest part of the pond.

A tiny smile formed on the little does face, partly hidden away with her stringy green hair. ". . . thanks." Voice soft. The water was nice, warmed nicely by the suns rays. She submerged under, looking around to see Ced driving deeper into the pounds depths. Holding back a little bit, looking back up to the surface for a moment, seeing the silhouettes of the frogs and lily-pads. Turning back, Lily followed the other doe. Not as fast, for she didn't have fins, but followed never-the-less. Using her long tail to push her threw the waters and go deeper. Long green hair floated around her head, lily-pad stayed in place, seeming to be apart of the doe. The lighting in the water danced over her back and tail, causing the greens to become more vivid. Soon she was right behind the larger doe.

Ced jumped out of the water, and fell again in this one with a spectacular velocity, producing any sound when she came in contact with the water. Then she came back slowly to the surface, appearing under a lily pad ... She couldn't resist to crack a smile, thinking that she finally looked like her friend now. She waited the green doe appears too, to show her how much she adored the playful moment they just enjoyed together.

Lily hovered at the bottom of the pound of a moment, watching the other doe returning to the surface. Was this like having a friend? She pondered for a moment, then using her tail, she ascended upward towards the light of the sky. Head popped out of the water, to see Ced with a large lily-pad on top of her head as well as Lily's own. A tiny giggle danced in her throat, trying to escape. Only the faint sounds of the giggle could be heard, but she managed to control it. But before she could say anything, a light green from hopped over to the two and landed on Ced's head then jumped over to Lily's. Blinking and staring right at Ced. The little green doe's giggle repeated softly, still kept at bay.
Eledhwen22's picture

See the little green doe

See the little green doe giggle was a nice thing ... She didn't seem as happy few minutes ago ... But the subject of this amusement was not as beautiful. Ced really hated frogs, she found they were too uglies and glutinous. She couldn't help to have a cold shiver when she felt the slimy webbed-feet slide down on the right side of her face " OMG, that's just soooo repugnant !". She felt so stupid when she understood she had spoken too loudly. She didn't like show her fears, and let alone in front of deers she didn't know. She felt more silly again when she heard the tiny doe giggle for the second time.

Upon hearing the statement

Upon hearing the statement spouted from the larger does lips, Lily blinked, giggled ceased and stared at the frog. Repugnant? Ear folded back a little and the doe took a step away from Ced. She had remembered hearing such a phrase before. Other fawns yelled such things at her when she was just a fawn as well. Ugly. Slimy. Different. Lily had always found comfort with the frogs, they accepted her and enjoyed her company in the pound. Maybe that's why she preferred the frogs. They were without words and couldn't tell her such things. She had a feeling Ced didn't mean to upset her with what she had said, but she sort of hopped being of the water herself, the larger doe would have been a little more like her. "I . . . ummmm." Her voice grew small again, looking up at the doe. What would she do? Lily didn't even know herself.
Eledhwen22's picture

Cedrelÿa noticed the little

Cedrelÿa noticed the little doe was shocked by what she just said ... And felt suddenly extremly uncomfortable ... She tried her best to find the good words and gave this explanation, with a quavering voice: " Oh ... so ...sorry ! You know I never lived in a pond, my family came from ... se .. sea and ... There are no frogs there ... I'm not accustomed to live near them ... I can imagine you see them as friends, as they somewhat are your ... your neighbours. Really sorry, I'll never say something wrong about them, I promise ". The blue doe didn't dare look at the other creature, as she felt so guilty ... She hoped the little doe will forgive her. Waiting her reaction, her tail frantically swashed the water's surface.

Lily was probably over

Lily was probably over reacting just a little bit about the frog thing, she just couldn't help it really. After all, Ced was the first deer she has spoken to in a very long time. Most of her conversations are a one way deal, for frogs don't 'talk' back. " . . . it's alright. I just . . ." Her month hung open for a moment, standing there. " . . . thank you." Lily cooed softly when the larger doe apologized. It wasn't Ced's fault. She didn't know that the little green doe was rather sensitive to such things. Then again, not many even know Lily lives in the pound anyway. The silence was making Lily feel even more uneasy, and she spoke the first thing that came to her mind. "What's the . . . sea like?" Bright green eyes drifted around till they stayed on Cedrelÿa.
Eledhwen22's picture

Ced noticed the little green

Ced noticed the little green doe didn't know how to react. She couldn't imagine how much this doe was alone before starting talk with her ... She took pity on her, and try to be as welcoming as possible, to not destabilize her more. The question of Lily was somewhat inevitable, and embarrassed the marine doe who never saw the sea, and reminds her the sad story of her parents. She started looking far ahead, her ears flattened back. Her expression was suddenly serious and sad, as the bloody memory of her parents murders was unbearable. She tried to answer, hidding her quavering and small voice "Oh, the sea ... Well ... In fact, I never saw the sea. And Flyleaf, my adopted father, formally prohibits me to go there for some reasons I can't tell you for the moment ... " The doe immediately changed the subject of the conversation "Hmm ... You seem as if you were a little uncomfortable ... Do you prefer we move to a quieter area ? "

Taking in a few slow breaths, Lily calmed herself and felt herself center again. The welcoming call of her pound home echoed behind them with the frogs and crickets. A comfort to the doe. As Ced seem to say little about the sea and why she never went, then jump over to another topic, Lily only nodded and listened. She could relate to not . . . bringing up hard times. Sometimes leaving something to sink to the bottom of the pound was for the best, after all. ". . ." She looked past the taller doe, quietly slipping past her to lay under the large weeping willow by the pound. Its long drooping arms made a quite little 'room' under the tree. Sometimes Lily would go under here and just watch others walk by, going unnoticed. But, maybe it was time for a change? She was unsure yet. Her long fluffy tail lightly touched Ced's leg before making herself comfy in the cool grass, shy beams of light made their was inside. "You are rather kind, for only meeting me once. I . . . I'm glad of that." Ears stayed dropped, but this time was slightly. Despite being easily upset from a few moments ago, little Lily was gaining a tiny form of confidence with Ced. Maybe she was hoping to gain a friend? Maybe.
Eledhwen22's picture

The scaled doe followed

The scaled doe followed quietly the green one, taking advantage of the heat, which is obviously really appreciated for a cold-blooded creature like her. She observed carefully the little doe, as she likes do also with other deers. But with her, it was different: this doe didn't show so much her feelings, and it was difficult for Cedrelÿa to form an opinion on her. However, this mysterious personality increased her curiosity. "You know, you're one of the few deers who think I'm kind. Because deers here are quite afraid by the fact I look like a fish or a dragon. But I learnt to don't pay attention to it. The only problem is that ... I would love to make friends I can rely on." She stops few seconds, before carry on. "I noticed you seemed quite alone ... Have you friends here ?" Her voice was as soft as possible. Cedrelÿa wanted to show to the tiny doe that she could tell her all what she wanted, that she'll never judge her wrong.

The wind rushed by for a moment; willow leaves fell from their mothers branches, dancing down from above to land upon the two does that lay beneath. Lily didn't flinch as a few fell on her face and back, seemingly unaffected by the natural plant life around her, unlike being startled by a stag or doe. Pointed ears perked at Ced's comment. "Really . . . ?" Then again, it didn't surprise her much, the reactions others have. When someone is different, a natural first reaction is to reject. Yet, Lily has rejected that line of thinking. To reject something different wasn't fair. The one who was different never asked to be so. " . . . I . . . I can understand."

She paused. "Many didn't want to be my friend when I was a fawn . . ., they thought I looked strange." But compared to Ced, Lily looked a little more deer. But that different matter much. The question the larger doe had was taken into thought. The little green doe blinked, mouth opening once or twice with no response. "Besides frogs . . . and fish, no. Not since a long time ago." She was quite again, thinking. Ced is the first she has spoken with for a long time. Lily still wondered why she didn't run away when the large doe greeted her.
Eledhwen22's picture

Ced was sorry to hear this

Ced was sorry to hear this ... But not surprised. A desire to protect the little doe was rising up in her mind. She wrapped-around the tiny green creature with her long and large tail, smiling at her. "I see ... I would let you know that if you have any problem, or if you want to spend time with someone, I'm here ... Never hesitate !". The scaled doe finished her sentence by a friendly wink, and put slowly her head on the soft grass.

As Ced seemed to comfort

As Ced seemed to comfort small Lily, she relaxed a little. The scalie tail of the large doe felt familiar. The fish. The fish from the pound, as they would brush past her in the evening and greet her as she would return to the pounds depths. She rested her head down, chin on the long tail of Ced. She wasn't sure why it took her so long to talk to others, but the green doe was glad that at lest she had made a friend. Lily thought of her as a friend at least. Long pointed ears twitched, fluffy tail swayed with the gentle breeze. ". . . thank you." Her little voice sqweeked, a smile on her muzzle, under the large green hair of hers.

The green doe was already out of the pound and under the willow, but she wasn't taking her mid-day nap like she normally does. Lily was staring off into the wood and trees beyond her watery home. Seeing the tiny silhouettes of deer that play and mingle among one another. ". . . hmmm" After meeting Ced and that tall white stag, little Lily began to question to decision of keeping herself isolated from others. The forest was changing and she wasn't the only 'odd' deer like she once thought. Another sigh escaped her as a gust of wind pushed past her and the arms of the willow.

Leo ears perked up toward a sound that was more deer like, especially when the pond sounds wandered to his ears. He allowed his gaze to travel over the pond, spotting a wet looking doe near the willows. Had she come from the pond? Had she fallen in? Or was she crazy enough to go for a swim? This interested him enough to make it worth investigating. He got to his hooves, trotting toward the doe, only to halt once he came to the edge of the trees. He stayed there, ready to retreat should she prove she didn't want him around, or if he could figure out from there whether or not she was okay.

She held still, feeling the breeze push past her straight hair. It flowed softly, dancing on the breath of the forest. Lily was taking in a few breaths before getting up to stand. The doe was smaller then the average deer here in the forest. And there were times she felt even smaller when some of the giants of the forest came to drink from her home. Deer that made her feel like a fawn again. She turned to brush her side against the willow; stopping an itch. As she did so, the doe noticed a figure in the trees. Pointed ears twitched, holding her position. After holding her breath she moved again. She would be find, the forest is safe place even is she grew up thinking otherwise. Lily went back to scratching. " . . . I am fine, I am fine." Her heart returned to a calm beat.

But it couldn't be too long now. Besides, the forest had it's weird magic. Anything was possible.

Thinking about it, she has

Thinking about it, she has noticed many interested deer lately; ether that or she has been in her pound a bit to long. Pointed ears perked slightly, "Hmm . . ." Lily looked past the yellow male, up the hill and into the trees. Now that she thought about it, there must be so many residents of this forest and only a fraction probably come to the pound. After all, this couldn't be the only water source around. The doe was happy tho, when she was but a fawn, before the forest had a larger variety of residents, she was shunned for being different. ". . . uhhhh" Little socialization practice did leave the doe at a loss at times. What else did someone talk about?

After all fish and frogs said so little.

The lion deer half glanced at her as she attempted to start up a conversation.
"You okay, Lily?" he couldn't help but ask. Maybe she was nervous, or scared of him. A lot of deer were, that was no surprise.

If a deer could blush from

If a deer could blush from embarrassment, then Lily would have had a pinked face. Ears dropped a tad, ". . . ummm, well." Tail twitched around her. ". . . you see, I don't really get much . . . company." Her voice was tiny, soft and shy. The green doe began to realize how awkward she must be, it's surprising she even knew how to talk when she went thought about it. Why did she hold onto speech? Yeah, she surprised herself a lot.

Oh. That made sense. "Now why would that be? You seem so nice, I'm surprised you don't have someone to talk to you all the time." he flicked his ear and offered her a half smile.
