Remembering

Day...the days can't be numbered here
I never know what I'll remember and what I'll forget. Maybe I only remember the most beautiful things nowadays...
And maybe it's best that way?
---
I remember...waking up from some strange dream. I was talking to somebody and everything...nothing was how it was supposed to be. Everything was strange in some way. But it felt real while I was there.
When I woke up, I was glad it wasn't.
Brd was next to me and I felt so cold. I looked up and watched the rain fall for a few moments, closed my eyes and let the water run over them.
You're not supposed to stay still in rain for long.
We danced and ran and played with the little fawn who was sitting beside us.
Illutrea....It's a lovely name, but it sounds like 'illusion'.
Are you an illusion, little one?

After awhile, we found the mushroom. Big, red, just above my antlers. I could scrape its ceiling with a hoof. It was dry underneath but still cool.
We huddled together in a pile until Brd then I had to disappear.
I wonder where I went.
---
I remember waking up the next day to snow. I guess it had gotten even colder.
The snow was heavier than the first time I saw it, and the ground was already coated in pure white.
Do you know that snow makes a wonderful crunching sound when you step in it, even lightly?
So very fragile.
I looked back and saw the little indentions where my feet had squished down the snow. They were deeper now than when I was a fawn.
The snow gathered on me so quickly.
White piles atop of blue.
I think I saw Noelle that day...
I saw others and said hello. Played a little.
I remember ending up in the Old Oak, where it was warm and dry. Now I know why she is called Mother.
Everybody is sad lately, and I can't fix it. I wish I could.
Maybe if you all went to Mother, she could.
---
I remember going swimming one day with Noelle. I managed to coax her into the water for a little bit.
It was frigid, but I love being underwater. There's something that slows down time, almost...
Coming out was the hardest part.
There was a burst of cold air as we ran for the nearest trees to get our "clothes" back.
I really didn't mind all that much...
---
I remember snow again. Two little fawns and a nameless came to sit and play with me.
Such adorable little deer.
If only everybody was as carefree as you two!
So small, I was worried you'd be cold.
You weren't. You were happy, like me.
Thank you.
---
I remember the next day...
R, I've missed you so much.
I was worried.
But you are here, R, and you sit closer this time.
Do you trust me more now?
When you move off, I follow you.
---
We are joined by another deer, a happy, playful sort.
Amazon, little fawn.
She follows us on our little walk.
We play around a little behind you as you stay trotting at a steady pace.
Jump, jump, take a moment to look at the sky above us.
The forest is so quiet here...
We end up on R's beloved hill, where he leaves us.
Little Amazon stays.
---
I know today, where I said hello to so many.
Two played, wanted masks, spells.
One stayed, just wanted a place to rest, I think.
I enjoy the calm.
I only hope there will be no storm.

I forgot to mention. In my most recent entry, I found myself using some ideas that I read first here. I didn't mean to copy, but they wormed their way into my mind and back out again, it seems.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.
