I don't know what I said wrong in that first blog entry to not even deserve a "welcome to TEF" from anyone, but after having to go to all the other threads welcoming newbies to find the answers about how to act as a deer answered... yeah, I don't think I'll be sticking around anymore. It's a shame too. The forest is beautiful and the freedom of running through it and leaping over the streams and hills is exhilarating. Maybe I'll turn off the network and just be a solitary deer or something.
Thank you to shamiya for answering that first blog entry, and for the compliment about the fawn.
Hey , don't be upset . Maybe
I say HELLO to you and welcome
First i too got only one answer when i was a Newbie .
Try to play and make friends in the forest . Further on there will be more answers to your postings
You are always welcome to meet and play with my Flyleaf in the forest
Thank you. I said before
I have to run, but thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one to get greeted with chirping crickets at the start. And I'll keep an eye out for Flyleaf!
(Sorry if Shika's seemed to ignore the grown deer - it just seems so disrespectful to walk up to them and start to cast spells or dance and stuff. I usually just bow once and run off again...)

You see my picto in the green
If you play with the new version of tef ( 3.4 ) , you will be able to see the whole picto
If you are using version 3.3.1 you only see one side of it ( Without the full circle ) .
See you
Don't be afraid to play with the grown ones ( They really like to play with fawns )
Noooo, please don't go! I
I was just like you at first. And I know you must have gotten discouraged, but it's not worth leaving over. (:
Post art if you can, and maybe bump your bios. People will see them and track it. Thats one way to meet friends.
Another and very helpful way is to meet other deer in the forest, and then post the screenshot on here and ask who it is. If they see it, they'll definitely respond. And you can turn out to be great friends!
If you have MSN, many others have an account and would love to add you~ I'll add you (;
Hey, you havent to do it.
Btw, if you wanna meet my Dampir look for my picto in TEF (:
I'm sorry that you feel that
Anyway, welcome to the forest and the community, I hope you can enjoy it!
What Trigger said. Welcome,
Oh dear, we're usually pretty
If you stick around for a while longer, I'm sure you'll notice that the longer you're here the more friends you accumulate.
If you ever have a question, be sure to put something like "How do you" or "Help" in the topic title - it's like sticking a little red flag on it. Sometimes more obscure titles get glanced over for a while, or entirely.
Oh, I'm sorry! :c I would've
I would've surely posted a welcome comment if I had seen your entry. If it's not to late to do so already then hello! I also enjoy the freedom of running around and jumping over the river, if I find you I may have to join you in doing so ^^
Hey sorry for not seeing your
In any event, welcome to the Forest! Hope my Quad runs into you sometime
I'm sorry, that was such a
I'll keep an eye out for all of you, and try to get Shika running around, casting magic and doing dances with the other deer (hopefully later this evening!).
One idea that seemed like it'd be fun is to have a three-point magical transformation race (no scoring or anything like that, just for fun) - from the cathedral ruins to the animal fountain, where you take a drink, then from there to the crying idol, where you run through the statue to turn red, then from there to the twin idols, where you pray for a white coat, and then back to the cathedral. I've no idea how to convey all that in deer language, though...
So many of you are such incredible artists - I'm amazed at how TOF seems to attract creative people. I'm pretty terrible at drawing, but I can write, and I'm learning more about digital art and editing, so screenshots will at least be coming soon!

Welcome to TEF. I like your
Don't worry, I'm often in the
I spend most of my time playing tag and dancing with fawns and will be happy to spend ages casting spells untill you have a look your happy with.
Thats why I am a (self-proclaimed =P) Kindly Guide. I dedicate my gaming to helping newcomers learn the ropes, if you see me come say hi

I think I may have just seen
(The forest hasn't looked exactly the same any two nights in a row so far...
I guess that does raise a question, though: what do the deer do together? I end up trying to dance with just about every deer I meet, only because it's the only thing I know to do (and because I just discovered that you can dance in rabbit form, which is adorable!). But are there more things, like casting flowers on them and baying for a deer to come run with you and so on? Is there an etiquette for casting spells on grown-up deer? I wanted to "bless" a group of grown deer by the river after a visit to the idol, but thought it might be seen as intrusive, especially if it messes up all the masks and pelts they worked so hard to get right.
Thanks Sypris! I hadn't thought of a squid, but yeah, they do look like tentacles hanging down - all hail the Fawn of Cthulhu!

Actually, I avoided your post
Welcome to TEF! I hope I'm not too late~
Oh! I can see a bird now!
Uhm, when I'm in forest I usually just run around and lay with nice deer.
I'm sure my Trump would love
If you see this picto, be sure to say hello (;
"I guess that does raise a
As someone who wrote an article about TEF once said, "These players could find a way to re-create Shakespeare."
I'll have to find the link to that, because it was phrased much better... lol. But really, anything you can think of, there's some way to express it in the Forest.
"But are there more things, like casting flowers on them and baying for a deer to come run with you and so on?"
Of course! Once you know a few deer, calling will help them find you (or you to find them) if you get separated during play or want to attrack their attention. If you tap your hoof (orange action bar, the one on the far left with the purple scratch in the ground) and then nod, most players will take it as an indication to "do what I do" - follow, sit, dance, run - whatever it is that your deer does next.
"Is there an etiquette for casting spells on grown-up deer?"
If adults are spellcasting with other deer, it's usually okay to cast on them as well. Occasionally someone will request that they aren't casted on while casting due to lag, or that spells such as the devout not be cast on them (also due to lag), but for the most part it isn't a problem if they're already in the midst of a spell "party."
Other than that, as long as you aren't casting to be annoying (spamming after the other deer asks you to stop, etc) and the other deer doesn't appear to be upset, there usually aren't any problems.
"especially if it messes up all the masks and pelts they worked so hard to get right."
Spells come in layers. Each layer can be sneezed off individually until the player has the set they want to use again. With the newest version (3.4) they can even just open the menu and load their favorite set instantly. Unless you cast on someone as they're logging out, it's usually not a problem.
Wow, thank you - that answers
