There is no way to transfer the permadevout to that version because of the way spells are saved. You'll have to use the Swan Pelt. A good substitute, IMO, for the albino antlers that pelt has are the new Owl Antlers.
I think it was because M&A told us to stop doing things like that. But I am not sure. I remember there being a blog on it as well but it got taken down as far as I know. 3.41 was meant to prevent spelldata in the first place, so that's the reason I see not to do it.
If you're talking about the blog I'm thinking of, it's still up - I linked someone to it the other day. I'll poke around and see if I can find it when I get home.
Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to reliably save mini-Permadevout data serverside. Like, you can save it and the data will be there, but you have to jump through hoops to get the Permadevout to show above the mini. Like, having someone Devout-pelt you does not make the Permadevout come through the mini like it does with other pelts. It's really a pain. I HAVE gotten it to work, but it required getting someone to mini-spell me. Every time I came in forest. eno You're better than me with Spelldata though; you might get it in a snap.
Anyway, yeah, that tutorial should work like a snap for you. I've never had a problem with it! :D
