The wind was a torrent of darkness,
Among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon,
Tossed upon the cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight,
Over the purple moor.
And the Highwayman came riding,
Riding,
Riding.
The Highwayman came riding,
Up to the old inn-door.
Name: Brooks

Sex: Male
Age: Ageless, a spirit of the forest
Mate: Orinoco
Children: Jacob
Birthday: December 13th
Entered the forest: May 25th, 2012
Orinoco sniffled and nuzzled her face in his fur. For a moment she didn't answer his question but with a deep breath and a soft sigh she shook her head."Not really, I was so hungry I really didn't notice anyone at the pond or grazing areas....I did rest by some flowers...it was nice"she said forcing a smile. As he sang she leaned on his neck and closed her eyes letting his voice sweep over her. He never sang much before so it was a highly welcome comfort.
----
I physically squealed when I read he sang to her..just saying *glomps Brooks*
I have said it before but I'll say it again..despite there rushed start I still
am in love with these two so much ^_^

Brooks shut his eyes and set his head on top of hers. "You were hungry? I could have brought you something, all you need to do is ask." He said, grooming behind her ears.
~~~~~
Broooooks, you're setting yourself up for a rough nine months buddy.
Orin smiled, "Dear...I can get pretty picky and if you brought back the wrong thing what then would we do" she said looking up at him then sighed,"Its ok, I don't mind getting it myself...besides it will help me get exercise" she added.
Alrighty~ I guess we'll start where we left off in the forest? And to answer Orinoco's question (that I wish I was able to answer In-Forest ;-;), that little mini is a goat named Kid.
Orin sighed as she looked out over the lake. Their romp around the forest had helped calm the constant dark thoughts from rising up. The thoughts about her daughter...about not seeing her. Leaning on her mate she sighed again,"That was fun...I've missed doing that with you"she said in a soft tone.
"And I've missed doing this." Brooks replied quickly, hitting her with a pelt spell. He fell over on his side laughing, but on the slope of the bank, gravity won this battler and he toppled into the pond, promptly turning into a frog.
She was about to protest the spell cast but when he fell into the pond the doe instead broke out in laughter. "You klutz, thats karma for you" she said poking fun at the stag who was now dripping wet. "You look so silly all wet" she giggled some more .
He croaked a frog croak at her then hopped out of the pond, turning back into a stag. "Ohoho. You speak some, you get some, my darling." Brooks replied, shaking aallllll the water off his pelt. And since his fur was quite long, there was quite a lot of water, and alllll of it went to Orinoco.
The doe jumped when he started to shake but it was too late. The torent of water covered her pelt and she was as dripping wet as he was. Her eyes glared at him for a moment before she shook herself off. In mock anger she lifted her tail and began to walk away, head in the air for added effect.
—
Brooks giggled ominously and began to walk a little bit faster than she was. But instead of having a prissy lady walk like she, his step was much more princessy and like that of a Valley-Girl. His hip swing was much more exaggerated, his hooves were raised higher, and his nose was in the air like some snotty stereotypical Brit. "Now daaahlin'. If you gonna wahlk the wahlk, you gotta do it raht." The buck said, raising his pitch like someone from New Orleans. Stopping, he turned his head and looked at Orinoco. "Don't try to out-girl me, babe. The only thing I can't do is give birth." He said in a very serious tone, flipping his mane like a Forest-Fabbio.
Orinoco had stopped to watch this more than amusing sight unfold. When he finished she simply stared back at him for a long long while before her lip quivered and she broke out in laughter. "Oh gods that was hilarious" she said having to turn her head away, tears were leaving her eyes from laughing so hard. "I swear you are the silliest stag I have ever known, even more than my brother" she said moving over to him then nipped his ear.
"Oh really?" Brooks replied, laughing. He stuck his tongue out and then bolted a few feet. "You missed me! You missed me! Now you have to kiss me. But oooonly if you can catch me." He taunted playfully, reciting the old child's game rhyme before running off into the Birch.
Orin's tail twitched in playfulness and she bolted off after him. Despite having her legs be almost his length the doe seemed to not be able to keep up with him like before. She wasn't THAT pregnant yet ....perhaps though they were already feeding off her energy. Ignoring this she tried her best to catch him.
Orin had lost sight of him so when she made it her eyes could not see where he was. She was searching frantically in all the wrong places not realizing he was right before her. Pouting she turned to look elsewhere in the birch.
Brooks pouted as well when he realized she would not find him. He crept as quietly as he could through the tall grasses until he felt her presence near. The stag stood up and planted a big smooch on her cheek before she could get past him. "I think I'll take that kiss now, sweetheart."
When he came from no where she jumped then blushed as a kiss was planted on her cheek. "Brooks..you blend into this grass far too well" she teased then returned the kiss on the cheek. The doe was beginning to feel a little sleepy, she could feel it as her lids were now getting rather heavy. "Brooks..I think I should lay down, I'm feeling a bit tired" she said nuzzling him.
sorry I am gonna pull her out of forest XD I am getting a little sleepy myself.
"Heh, I guess I do." Brooks said. He cocked his head slightly when she said she was getting tired. "Well, no need for you to exhaust yourself." Looking around, he noticed that weren't that far at all from their territory, it was only a few feet away. "Let's get within our scent-marked area, there's some... questionable deer roaming about. I'd rather you not be in someplace where you're not defended while you sleep." Brooks looked back to her. "I'm sorry, I'm just worried... Another doe got in trouble today and she's in rather bad shape. I guess seeing it shook me up a little..." He shook his head to clear his thoughts, dislodging a few flowers on accident. "Anyway. Come on, we both need our sleep right now anyways." Brooks stated, taking a step towards the crooked tree where they made their home.
~~~~~
Welllll, if you're going to sleep, have a good night, don't let the bedbugs bite. :3
Orin nodded and followed, as they made their way slowly to the territory she looked at him,"is that why you stopped me from going to the playground earlier?" she asked curious of his motives.

Brooks smiled and nuzzled her back before plopping into the soft, sweet-smelling grass. He laid his head against the ground and shut his eyes, ready to sleep off the day. "Today was real fun, Nokie. A good start to a great week, no doubt." He stated drowsily, stretching his legs before curling up again.
She joined him in the same possition and smiled back,"Yes it was a wonderful start to the week, thank you Brooksie"she sighed then snuggling closer to the stag the doe fluttered into sleep.

Brooks raised his head and looked around, checking for anything unusual that might be there, something out of place, but he found nothing. Everything was calm and safe. Safe... He groomed the top of Orin's head, putting each hair back into place, just something to do to calm his nerves. After he was done, the orange buck felt his eyes getting heavy, good. Brooks set his head down in the plush grass again, sleep soon taking him.
Brooks yawned and stretched his legs, feeling a midday sun beat down upon his back. For once it felt good to be warmed. He shifted positions so that he was facing his mate. He smiled as he remembered how they met. So humorous! The smile grew a bit bigger when the stag remembered putting the cowboy hat on the snow deer, making the little blue Cappy. They'd have to do that again sometime. He nuzzled her neck, leaning against her as laziness beckoned him back to his nap. In this quiet forest symphony of chirping birds and rustling leaves as wind graced the treetops, thoughts flowed to and fro like water drops of a melting icicle.
Thoughts of his father came to mind. How was the old buck doing? He had stayed in the human world last time they visited there. Helaryon, that was his name. Best not forget. Easy to forget things when they stay off your mind. Yawning again, the orange stag laid his neck across Orinoco's back, thoughts of asking her if they could go to the human world racing through.
Orinoco had been having a wonderful dream. She missed dreams like this, of lands that could never be or may be or just peace. Her nightmares were gone thanks to her daughter and the combined efforts of her mothers yet again. She smiled in her sleep at the thought. The feeling of Brook's chin on her back made her eyes flutter open and she turned her deep rubyorange gaze to look at him. "Whats on your mind Brooksie?" She asked sleepily. The doe yawned but that was the only movement she attempted. At the moment she was far to comfortable to do much else.

"My father. I've been a bit worried about him lately. I know he can take care of himself, he's a grown stag. But he stayed in the human world in deer form. It's dangerous like that. Something you and I know well." Brooks rambled, his eyes fluttering sleepily. "It almost makes me want to go visit him." The stag shut his eyes and listened to the silence of the forest once more before speaking up again. "You met him once if my memory serves correct. A long while ago, when we were still friends, not mates. He came to the forest and left just as quickly."
Orinoco smiled and leaned her head up licking his cheek. "I do remember..vaguely..."she said trying hard to remember his looks but the image just wouldn't come to her. She lifted herself into a full upright position to get a better look at her mate. "Do you want to go check, I don't mind. I would like to visit the human world again,as a deer that is. It gave me a rush so to speak"she laughed. She knew he must be worried for her as well which is why he didn't suggest it. She wasn't that pregnant yet for it to be a problem. And the pace was so slow as of late that a bit of a thrill would do her some good.

"Are you sure you want to go? You remember last time..." Brooks shook his head to clear the thoughts away. "Ah, no matter much about humans, we'll be sticking to the deep forest." He sat up and popped the vertebrae in his neck, relieving the stiffness he had felt. "So is that what we're going to do today? Go on a little adventure?"
She frowned and kissed him on the cheek. "Yes..I remember, though this time we will be smarter about it and avoid them..right"she smiled offering comfort. She smiled and nodded,"I'd love that. Its been..well..boring around her lately...so quite and calm we could use a bit of adventure."she slowly got up and nipped at his ponytail. "Come on old man, try and keep up"she laughed and bound off towards the portal they used before.

Brooks pouted when she nipped at his ponytail. He was fabulous, no mess it up >.< . When she called him old man, that was the last straw. Brooks clambored to his feet, a huge grin on his face. "Oh it is on, grandma!" He jeered, running after her. The buck ran through the blue bowl, jumping over rocks and getting stained with berries. Wow, she was fast! Where had she gotten that speed? When they reached the Crying Idol he grinded his fore hooves into the ground to slow him down, but at his speed it was too fast. Brooks ended up toppling into the creek. He pulled himself out of the water, grateful that he had left Calida's feather dreamcatcher back at their territory. "Alright. Let's go. At least at dad's place it's dry." Brooks stated, preparing to leap through the portal.
Orinoco laughed hard at the sight. She almost couldn't move her sides hurt so bad. Finally after regaining her breath she followed him through. Once through she looked at herself. She was the plain color of a normal deer again. It felt oddly nice to be in such a simple form again. Not to mention Brooks looked rather buff and handsome here. Not that he didn't back home but here his fluff was softer and his muscles showed through more. She giggled and looked around. The day seemed to be early, not quite noon yet and the air was silent. How peaceful though not the same kind of peace that the endless forest had. It was a wary peace. One needed to be on their toes here. "She looked around for her mate and softly called for him.

Brooks' ears perked up at the call, good; she made it through as well. He looked himself over, yep, perfectly dry. The buck trotted through the underbrush that separated them, getting his antlers caught in a vine then having to free it from the plant as he did so. Brooks bleated at Orinoco, remembering that they couldn't speak verbally in this form. He rubbed against her shoulder with his muzzle and licked her cheek, offering a soft smile. The stag dug his hoof into the ground and scratched at the dirt, trying to indicate she should follow him. He nodded his head and bounded off into the woods, slowing down soon after so she could follow before speeding back up again.
She nodded, understanding his actions and followed as he bounded away. It felt so free here. The fact that this world was so big. Perhaps not endless but it was large. Someday she wanted to travel to her home in Japan. To see it once more both as a deer and human. She felt much lighter and faster in this form. It was an odd sensation that she just couldn't explain. She didn't let it get to her though and picked up speed to be right there along with Brooks.

Brooks looked back every now and again to make sure she was keeping up, yes, she was. He didn't worry about running through hunting territories, this was deep, protected forest. If they did encounter anything, it was a predator or illegal poacher, but that wasn't much of a thing to worry about. After a while of running, they came to a lake. A misty lake that had a touch of magic in the atmosphere. On the other side of the lake, the whitetail buck could see a large stag on the bank, leaning down to get a drink. The other buck's coat had a dark blue tint and black, crow feathers could be seen growing out under its large antlers. That was Helaryon.
Brooks snorted and splashed his hooves into the water. Trying to tell Orinoco they were here and to alert the other stag to their presence. The buck looked up at him and stood there, his figure staring from across the waters.
Orinoco moved quickly to his side and looked at Brooks before turning her attention to the deer across the lake. He was different that was for sure. Such a strange creature must have sparked legends in the nearby towns. Campers and poachers probably told stories of seeing such a beast. She turned and nudged him and cocked her head as if to confirm that what she saw was who they were searching for. Turning her head she stepped forward slightly into the lake and craned her head to get a better look. It was hard to see through the mist and it seemed to get heavier though it could just be her eyes playing tricks.

Brooks nodded his head vigorously, what a relief it felt to see his father alive. He took a few steps into the lake, seeing if it was safe to pass; though something crossing his mind about never wanting to cross the lake before surfaced vaguely. The water began to suddenly get deeper as he walked into it, soon the water came to his elbows yet he was hardly off the bank. Something sharp ran across his forelegs, causing a sharp pain the run through his ankles. He leaped back onto the shore, snorting in indignation. Now he remembered why they shouldn't cross it: the bottom of the lake was deep and littered with razor sharp rocks. Though they were sharp, they were fragile and easily broken, though this allowed them free reign throughout the water, where they floated around like fish.
Blood dripped steadily from his knees and Brooks' mentally cursed at his forgetfulness. They'd have to find another way to cross or he would swim through with Orinoco on his back. Looking back across the lake, Helaryon had resumed drinking from the water, seemingly oblivious to them.
Orinoco let out a cry when Brooks jumped back. At the sight of blood she immediately began licking it clean and she looked at the water then at Brooks wanting to know what had caused such an injury. It was not the stag across the river. And there seem to be no fish nearby so it must have been something floating in the water. Oblivious to the sharp rocks she turned and tried to find out . She figured if it had been one thing then it would be gone by now and be safe to enter.

Brooks lunged forward in front of Orinoco, blocking her way to the water. Using his shoulder, he pushed her back away from it. Turning back to the lake, he stepped a little ways in, only halfway up to his shins. Leaning down, Brooks grabbed a floating fragment with his teeth and walked back out of the water. Using the rock fragment, he held up his hoof and used the rock to make a small cut just at his ankle, showing her that the rocks were very dangerous. Tossing the rock aside, Brooks gritted his teeth. How were they going to get across? He looked to the stag across the way, he now had moved away from the water and was waiting at the treeline, his stoic silent gaze curious to see if they'd figure it out.
Brooks turned to Orinoco, nuzzling her in apology for shoving her away and possibly getting her with one of his tines. He stamped his feet and knelt down on his knees like they were at the Twin Gods, motioning for her to get on his back.
