The wind was a torrent of darkness,
Among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon,
Tossed upon the cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight,
Over the purple moor.
And the Highwayman came riding,
Riding,
Riding.
The Highwayman came riding,
Up to the old inn-door.

Brooks cracked open his eyes. Morning already? He shivered slightly and opened his eyes the rest of the way. Yes, morning. And a snow covered ground, too. Man, Orinoco would love this. And there she was, sleeping at his side. Now, how to wake her up without waking everyone else up in the oak...? Brooks stood up, stretching his legs and accidentally hitting his hind hooves on the back of the grande oak tree. Looking around and seeing the sound hadn't woken anyone up, Brooks kneeled down and nudged Orinoco by the base of her ear. "Wake up, sleepy head. The star flakes have covered the ground. Gonna be fun today."

HUAAAAAAA, I CLAIM THIS PAGE. *noms* Perty new page.
Orinoco stirred a little then shivered. The side that had been next to Brooks was now cold with his absence and she shivered lightly.When she heard him speak her eyes opened slowly then snapped open at the sight of the snow. She smiled and looked at Brooks then stood up, stretching as well. "Its so...sparkly!" she whispered. Her tail flipped excitedly and she crept out from the oak being careful to not bother anyone else. Tentatively she placed a hoof into the snow. It was cold but bearable. Carefully she moved herself fully into the white fluffy stuff. When she finally got her bearings she took off, bounding through the snow kicking it into the air. Laughter left her as she flung the snow in every direction. Not knowing how deep it really was she bounced into a deep snow bank, her ears being the only thing peeking out. She wiggled her self free then shook the snow from her fur laughing,"Oh my goody goodness Brookie!!! Its so fun!!!" she giggled like a fawn and bounced in a circle happily.

Brooks bounded after her, barely stopping himself in time when she discovered the snow bank. When she burst out of the deep snow he laughed, having some of it thrown his way. "Hey OrinokieDokie. Check this out!" He pulled a pile of snow together with his hooves, gradually making it bigger until it resembled a sleeping body. "Now you get to make the face. It's a snow deer."
She bounced in excitement and trotted over to the rather well constructed sleeping snow deer. She looked at it for a while before doing the same with her hooves till a face appeared. She knelt down and played around with it until she was happy. A quick quest to the lake was all she needed before she returned with some branches and rocks. She placed the rocks on the eyes and the branches as antlers. "whatcha think?" she asked with a wide goofy grin.

Brooks pondered for a moment. It looked good, she had done a great job on the face. "In the honor of Lady Nokie, I hereby dub this deer as Cappy." Maybe a hat would bring to life?
~~~~~
I was laughing too hard to make this post any better. XDDDDD
I'm sowwy. :3
Orin nodded with a serious expression on her face,"Cappy is a wonderful name. But where would we get a hat Brooksie? Not sure there are any in the forest" she said cocking her head to the side as she looked at the snow deer.She giggled, breaking her facade.
"Heh, beats me. The only place I know where there are hats would be the human world. But I haven't beenthere for a while now, so who knows?" Brooks sat down in the snow. "Have you ever been to the human world?"
Orinoco nodded. She knew that hats were found in the human world. Since her journey to learn about her past she had not seen the human world. She actually did not know that she could get to the real world this came as a surprise to her. "The last time I was there." she began softly,"I WAS human" she ended, her voice still very soft. She looked up to Brooks,"So..how can we get there, and how do we look when we are there?"
She WAS a human? Weird. He wondered how she was able to change species like that, maybe she was talking about a past life. a human in her past life... That sounded kind of neat. "Well, whenever dad and I go there, we look like weird deer. We still have antlers and all, but we're a light brown, can't talk like we are now, and does don't have antlers. None of 'em. Course I have only been in and around a small area. I'm sure the human world is much bigger than I think it is." As for how to get there? "All you have to do is find the portal. For dad and I it's always tucked inside the Crying Idol. You run at it at a certain angle and then fall into the portal. If you hit it wrong. You just turn red."
Orinoco listened carefully. She sort of remembered what deer in the human world looked like. They were not at all like many of the deer in the Endless forest. It surprised her to hear where the portal was. How many times had she been there and missed it. The thought made herlaugh. "Well lets go! " she said bouncing a little.
"Alrighty then." Brook stood up and trotted towards the rock idol. "I think it's right around here..." He said, poking around the fountain. The stag jumped up when he found what he was looking for: a tiny indention in the rock in the shape of a circle. "Okay, just gotta back up here..." Brooks turned around and trotted away from the idol, turning around and rearing up when he got at a good distance. "Comon, Orin!" He cheered as he hit the portal, his voice fading away as he was transported to the human world.
Orin watched Brooks carefully, she made note of the same indentation then backed away so he could make a good run at the idol. As soon as he vanished she waited a few seconds before backing up as well. She took a deep breath then ran as fast as she could, once she jumped through she closed her eyes. Light poured onto her and she opened her eyes slowly. She was shocked slightly by the sight of brooks. He was a rather plain color and his antlers not so grand, though they were still rather nice. She then looked at herself. The biggest shock was her face was like that of a real deer. How odd! Her head felt light as well, no antlers. A little bit of fear struck her as she noticed her gem was gone, but a voice resonated within her telling her that she still had it though now it lay hidden in her spirit. "Now where do we go" she wanted to say but the words were trapped inside. She cocked her head then remembered that Brooks had told her speaking was impossible here. It took her a moment but she was able to communicate through body language her question.
Brooks understood her question and looked around. The forest was familiar. Good. He motioned with his head to outside of the woods,to an area that looked likesouthwest North America: sparse brush, deep canyons, among other significate details. Sharp whistles pierced the air and a herd of horses ran a few dozen feet in front of them. He lowered his body until it was covered by the semi-woodland brush. A thought crossed his mind on how to explain everything to Orinoco. He dug his hoof into the ground and wrote out 'Cowboy land. Horses cows'. Brooks looked up, hoping she'd understand. If not, he'd find someway else to tell her.
Orinoco was captivated by the surroundings. When she heard the whistles she ducked down as well. A smile crossing her eyes (as her mouth could not without some difficulty) at what she saw. Cowboys. She remembered reading about them when she was human. Though she couldn't remember where she was from, all she remembered was that it was not where she was. She nodded in understanding. 'where now do we go?" she asked in writing as well. Though the writing was odd..strange markings made up her sentence. She didn't realize she had written Japanese until she compared her writing with Brooks. She was confused for a moment then scratched it out, re writing the sentence, this time in english.
Now we go get a hat. He wrote, slightly confused by the strange characters she crossed out. The cowboys ran past the two deer, their horses' hooves thundering like falling rocks on the dirt. Brooks stood up when they passed, stepping out of the brush and into broad daylight. Looking around and stepping forward tentatively, he saw no predators. Motioning for Orinoco to follow him, the stag ran in the direction of a human town not far off. They'd have to be careful, but if they kept being the buildings and stayed near the hitching posts, they'd have their hats in no time.
As curious as she was of her surroundings Orinoco wasn't stupid. She kept low and followed Brooks lead. The horses were magnificent beings, the strength of their stride gave her a thrill.One large ear followed their sound even as she and Brooks ran off toward the town. It did not take long to get in view of the town. It was not small but not too large either. It had a bit of an old time feel to it which gave it a charming feel. She felt herself smile. He moment of admiring was short lived as it was most dangerous to dodle around here. Instead she moved behind a shed and glanced around. Behind one shop she saw a hat sitting on a chair, another was on a hitching post and yet another hung on the horn of a empty sadle, minus the horse. Turning to Brooks she scraped the ground writing "which one?" in the dry dirt.
Brooks looked at each hat choice. They all looked fine to take... The closest one was on the saddle horn and that was the one which he'd go at. He pawed at the ground, motioning for Orinoco to stay there. He crouched and began to quickly trot over to the hitching post, ducking behind an outhouse when someone appeared out of the tavern. Continued on to the saddle and gently picked the hat up with his antlers. Yay! He finally had a cowboy hat! Now to get back to Orin and go home.
~~~~~~~~~~
Hey, what do you think about the human noticing Brooks/Orinoco and starting a chase/hunt? It'd be dramatic and bring Brooks and Orinoco together afterwards. :3
Orin nodded as he motioned for her to wait. She watched nervously and jumped slightly as a human left the tavern. Her gaze shifted back and forth between Brooks and the man but it seemed at first no one had seen them. She sighed and smiled as she saw him heading back. This was so much easier than she thought it'd be. He was close to rejoining her when she heard a yell from the tavern and the door slam open."Hey there ya pest give that back" the man yelled obviously enraged. From his side he pulled out a gun and shot. It barely missed both of them. "RUN BROOKS!" Orin yelled at him then twisted on her heels and bolted back towards where they came. The man took off, hoping on his horse to follow.

Awesome! Sorry for taking so long to reply, I'm making dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~
Brooks froze, barely hearing Orinoco's cry to run. Gunshots... He had only ever heard that sound in his dreams, but now it was real... Now it was real... And he knew what happened if you were hit. The man cam closer, flicking off the safety and preparing to fire another shot. It embedded itself in a shallow wound in his flanks, he only ran faster. The man prepared to fire another shot. good lord, wouldn't he give up already? All this fuss for a simple cowboy hat? "Don't look back, Nokie! Keep running!" It fired again, Brooks didn't look to see where it hit. They were almost to the treeline, almost there.
Orin ran as fast as she can. Soon enough she was in the trees. When she was in thick brush she stopped and turned around. Oh no..where was Brooks!!! She cried out, an odd mau sort of sound being the only sound she made. Her eyes, wide open searched and searched but didn't see him. How could she just leave him like that! She darted from the trees and back towards the direction she had just come from. She froze when she heard a horse snort and ducked behind a rock. She peaked around. The man was holding the gun ready and was looking around. Where was Brooks. He wasn't..no he couldn't be! An odd mixture of rage and sadness filled her at the thought. Brooks was one of her closest, best friends. If he was gone...she didn't know what she'd do. The cowboy continued on. In a blind rage she ran at him using a smaller boulder as a lift she jumped onto the man and the horse, causing them to crash to the ground. The gun rolled off and the horse pinned the cowboy. She stood above the man, glaring down at him. He now looked frightened. In her rage however, Orin missed his other hand moving to another gun which was strapped to his leg...
Oh that's so sad and brilliant at the same time. ;^;
~~~~~~~~~~
The second bullet had missed him by inches, though the sound caused him to stop running in his fear. Orinoco had gotten to the treeline, good, she'd be safe. No... she ran out of the trees and tackled the cowboy. He would hav e cheered if not for the potential danger and the searing pain in his thigh. Brooks started to run again, this time at Orinoco and the cowboy. When the man pulled the gun from his belt and aimed, Brooks felt a horrible rage and fear course through him. He lept the final few feet, knocking Orinoco out of the way as the gun fired.
GAHAHAHAH *flails* that is so sad TT3TT Im such a sucker for scenes like this!!!!
also I feel bad for the dog but this was the only example of her attack I could find (starts at 1:12) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0DkEcZ_k8Q&feature=related
============================================
Before Orinoco knew what was going on she felt herself being shoved to the side rather violently. She hit the floor rolling and when she came to a stop it took her a moment to look up. Eyes went wide. Brooks was on the ground and his breathing looked shaky. No...NO!!! She maued, tears now visible in her plain eyes. The pain switched to full rage and she looked at the man. He was slowly getting up, it seemed his leg was broken as well. That was it. She would not let this pass. Rushing at him she lifted up kicking him back to the ground, then with all her might slammed her hooves into him. This continued till the man could not move any more. She was breathing heavily, tears streaming down her cheeks. The horse looked on for a moment, stunned by what it saw. She lashed her hooves and the animal bolted. Finally alone she turned back to the still body of Brooks on the ground. She lowered her head, nuzzling his wound that was on his shoulder and licked it softly."Brooks..." she said with a questioning tone even though he could not hear her words, her voice cracking half way through,"Brooks? Please don't be dead..." she sniffled then lay next to him, placing her head on his neck and began to sob. She knew humans would come looking for their lost man. She didn't care though, there is no way she'd leave Brooks to these monsters.

The sound of the shot filled his ears and he felt himself topple over. Everything else was a blur but he was sure that he felt something on his neck. He opened his eyes and looked at Orinoco, grunting a response that he was okay. He stood up and looked around, picking up the fallen hat with his mouth. Way too much trouble for just a hat. But at least they both knew the dangers of the human world now. Brooks staggered on his feet, but managed to stay up. "Let's go home, Orin..." He said, nuzzling her neck in reassurance.
Orinoco's head shot up when she heard him grunt. She smiled and nuzzled his head gently and got up, keeping her eyes on him the entire time. She frowned at the the points where he was shot. They were bleeding and it worried her greatly. She walked next to him acting as a slight stabilizer for him. She nodded then moved on toward their way back. She glanced at him every now and then. She could do it. She could heal him. It was a gift given to her by her mother during her spirit journey. Her mother told her that her guardian spirit, the magpie, would be able to heal any injury but only once. If she needed to, she'd give that gift to Brooks. Finally they made it to the portal. She looked at Brooks worriedly, hoping he'd be able to go through. Scraping the ground she indicated she wanted him to go first. The stubborn doe was not going to budge on this either.

Brooks raised his head and eyed Orinoco. So she wanted him to go first? Fine. He wasn't up for any arguing. He stepped through the portal, faceplanting into the creek. He groaned, hoping Orinoco would make the same mistake and crash on top of him. The hat he had held in his teeth floated to the bank, having been let go. Brooks stood up in the creek and waited for Orin, waiting for her safe return.
Orin was happy that Brooks didn't argue with her. After he made it through she followed with no hesitation. The real world frightened her and she did not want to stay there. Once through she tripped over something and face planted it next to Brooks. This made her giggle a little but it was short lived. Quickly she got up and looked over his wounds. Without a word she circled him and did not see any exit wounds."Oh no..Brooksie..I think the bullets are still in you. We need to get them out" she said her voice half bordering on hysterical.

Brooks half wanted to put his hoof in her mouth to calm her down a bit, but decided against it. "Nokie, I'll be fine. Just quiet down, okay? Everything will be alright." He nuzzled her neck, giving her a light lick on her cheek to calm her. "Now you, are you hurt? He didn't get you did he?" The buck circled Orinoco, checking to see if she had any wounds as well. He didn't see any gunshot wounds, a few scratches from when he pushed her, though. Brooks licked her scratches to get rid of the dirt that might have accumulated in or around them. "I'm sorry for taking you there. I forgot how dangerous it was..." He said, resting his head and neck on her back.
A pout formed on the young doe. She really wondered if he'd be ok. Time would tell she guessed. In her worry she nuzzled him and licked the wound on his shoulder. "Stubborn" she mumbled under her breath, her fur around her eyes still wet from crying. As he walked around her assessing her damage she looked down,"I am ok Brookie.."she said faintly her head only came up when he licked her scratches then rested his head on her back,"Its ok, you didn't know this was going to happen" she turned and 'hugged' him with her neck."If it means anything it was fun till that last part" she laughed though it was a little dry. She was silent for along moment then nuzzled his neck with her cheek."Does it hurt?"

Brooks shook his head. "Only a little bit, but that's to be expected of a wound. Right now I'm more worried about you." He clambored down and picked up the hat, placing it on Orin's head. "I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you, Nokie..." The buck put his head over her shoulders and pulled her close to his body, unsure how she would react to what he was about to say. "I love you."

and sorry my internet kicked me out -_- darn internet

The doe blushed.Of the many things she expected him to say,'I love you ' was not among them. But it filled her up knowing that she was not alone in her feelings. She laughed as she had to tilt the hat a bit to fit better on her head though it slipped down over her eyes a few times. Eventually she got it to work. Leaning forward she nuzzled him and hugged him as hard as she could. "If you had died there I would never have left you. I love you too Brooks. You're a part of me. To lose you would to lose...my other half" she said cuddling close to his warm soft fur. "please tell me though if it gets worse, I know how to heal you" she backed up and licked the side of his face, concern in her eyes was only softened by the rosy blush that filled her cheeks.

You see this metaphorical face? This is a happy Cyda face. *squee*
Now on to figuring out the mystery of a good reply...
~~~~~~~~~~
"I wouldn't have died there, Nokie. Got too much to live for." He smiled when she called him her other half, feeling the same way. "Now come on cowgirl." Brooks jested, pushing the hat forward to where it covered her eyes. "Let's go give Cappy her hat."
~~~~~~~~~~
Heyheyheyheyheyheyhey! Orin! Cydurp got an idea! This idea makes no sense whatsoever!
When they put the hat on Cappy, why not have her transform into a little fawn like Frosty the Snowman? That way Nokie doesn't have to be sad about fawns anymore.
You can shoot down this idea if you want to, I just had it pop in my head so I had to share.
teehee ^_^
hrrmm... Well I guess Cappy could exist as long as it snows ^^ then once it stops no more cappy :3 how does that sound :3
Orin just wants a fawn of her own XD
==========================
Orin smiled, the stag was just being oh so charming she couldn't help but feel happy. When the hat was pushed over her eyes she laughed,"Ah hey!" she was able to reposition the hat then chased after the stag. Once at the snow deer she stopped, letting the hat drop a little then she caught it in her mouth"Lemph do et to geffer" she mumbled hoping he'd understand she wanted him to help her put it on the snow deer.

Brooks stared at Orinoco blankly, elevator music playing in his head as the muffled sentence took a few seconds to register itself in his head. "Oh! Yeah, right. Hat, deer. Okay, we'll do it together." He took up the other side of the hat in his teeth and lowered it down on the snow deer. It started to tremble and shake before finally moving. The small snow-deer opened its eyes and bleated, a pitiful little baby bleat. "In all honesty, I wasn't expecting that to work."
Orin giggled as Brooks took a moment to figure out what she had said. Finally he did get it and both lowered the cowboy hat on the snow deer. Then it began to tremble and suddenly a small snow fawn a surprising blue color lay before her and Brooks. Even she was surprised by this. Perhaps human items were magical here? Oh shoot she didn't know! But this was interesting. She bent her head down and sniffed its small head. The deer turned its head and looked at Orin mauing loudly in her face. She smiled so widely that any wider and her jaw would most likely snap. Leaning forward she nuzzled its small head. "Oh how cute!! "she giggled nuzzling the little creature. Although it wasn't quite what she wanted, this little magical surprise was nice.

"I wonder how long she'll last..." Brooks mumbled softly. The little fawn came from snow, would she return to snow if it got warm? He watched how Orinoco acted around the creature, trying to decipher how she felt inside. After putting two and two together, he came to the conclusion that she really really wanted one of her own. They weren't even adults in their prime yet... The buck decided that he would wait a while until asking orin if she wanted a fawn. At least wait until they were adults. "Well, little Cappy." Brooks said, bending down so he was eye level with the snow-fawn. "Wanna learn how to do the derp face?"
Orin was saddened by the thought but she decided to push it aside and enjoy the little creature for now. Little Cappy pranced around and maued loudly. When Brooks addressed her she turned and hopped over to him. A pink tongue hung from her mouth and she maued right in his face then nodded quickly in excitement. Orin laughed, oh this was funny! Perhaps it was because Brooks had grabbed that hat and now his silliness transferred to the little fawn. Yup, that was what happened, she was sure of it.She happily trotted next to Brooks and looked at Cappy,"Yes you will be learning from the best" she said teasing Brooks.
=======================
How do you plan to age up Brooks? I have no plan for orin's age up since by looks she is "fullgrown" but she is still technically 16. I was askin so I could base orins age up on his XD

I originally was going by TEF's aging proccess. One IRL month = a TEF year.
Orin was born at the end of April, May has passed and we're almost through June, so Orin would be nearing year 2 and Brooks would be entering the first few days of year 3. Once Orinoco is 2 she'd be young adult by real deer standards. But if we wanted to speed it up, we'd go by half months.
To save you the math, Orin would be turning 3 and Brooks would be turning 4, both completely mature by real deer standards. All their bones would be fully formed and... Brooks' antlers makes no sense now, unless they haven't grown their fourth tine yet. X3
So they'd have these birthdays at the end of June.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to dump my head in a bucket of icewater *ded*
~~~~~~~~~~
"Be nice, Nokie Dokie, there's a baby in the area." He teased back. Brooks turned to Cappy. "Alright you little derp. Follow my hooves with your eyes." The young buck sat down in the snow and held his front hooves up close to Cappy's face. Slowly moving them apart so her eyes would go in different directions if she kept following them.
lol YAY math XD and I like the aging idea you have with the one month thing :3 We don't have to speed it up as her second 'year' is coming up soon anyway.
and cyda...with this post you have made...another pic is heading your way XD
======================================
Orin giggled then sat next to Cappy and watched. Cappy was entranced by Brooks as he sat in front of her. When he told her to follow his hooves she focused in carefully. Her eyes watched as they moved apart and with very little problem they eyes derped perfectly. Not being a real creature of any sorts had its benefits. Orinoco giggled at the sight. The little deer still had its tongue out which made it even funnier. Cappy laughed as well when Orin laughed. She didn't understand what she did but she liked that it made them happy.
I saw them and had to put the laptop down because I was laughing so hard at Cappy. Luffles it though. Luff luff luff <3
~~~~~~~~~~
Brooks' face contorted when he saw that the trick had worked. He snorted and fell backwards on the snow, laughing like a maniac. His legs flailed in the air as he laughed. Ohhhh, this was RICH. The thing actually derped! Brooks rolled over and stood up once he had regained his composure, but one stray look at Cappy removed it all, sending him into another fits of giggles. "Orin... Hahaha! Please gehahahahaha! Her eyes! Please get them uncrossehahahaha!"
Orinoco couldn't help but laugh rather loudly at Brooks reaction to the derp face. It was rather silly though she was not so affected by it as her companion. She moved in front of Cappy and knelt down. The little fawn still had a herp derp face on and she couldn't help but giggle. Gently she grabbed it's little cheeks with her front knees then moved her face closer and closer. After touching foreheads she moved back and the eyes were no longer derped."There you go" she giggled softly and got up.

Brooks looked away as Orinoco did this, knowing he would be unable to stop laughing if he saw derped eyes again. He looked back once she said 'there you go', relieved that Cappy's eyes were normal again. "Alright Cappy, we'll give the derping a rest for now." He took a step towards Orinoco and Cappy, wincing and pulling his right leg into a limp when he felt the bullet lodged in front of his shoulder blade. The bullet in his hind left thigh was felt but it wasn't causing pain. "How would someone remove a bullet anyway? I mean, come on, we have hooves." Brooks pondered. Perhaps laying in the river for a while might help ease it out. He didn't want Orinoco to worry about him, but the shot potentially staying in his body was a problem.
Orinoco looked at Brooks when she saw him limp and a frown formed on her face. The wound was worse than she thought. Cappy was completely perplexed and not sure what was going on but followed Orin none the less. Orin moved closer to Brooks and licked the shoulder wound. "I know how.." she said with a bit of a crack in her voice. "Can you make it to the twin idols?" she asked worried that the pain would become to great.
—

Brooks gave her a strange look when she mentioned the two idols. What did they have to do with his shoulder and flank. "What do the gods have to do with removing a bullet, Orin?" He asked, not sure where this was going.
"You'll see, now follow" she said nodding to him then moved to his uninjured side acting as a brace if he needed. "You trust me don't you" she nuzzled his neck in comfort knowing he must be a little confused, but there was no other way to explain her plan. She needed to show. Cappy cocked her head to one side, confused but willing to follow none the less.

Brooks nodded and returned her nuzzle. "The sky would have to fall before my trust in you dissolved. Fine, I'll go." He started off towards the Twin Gods' statues, slightly ashamed of his limp, feeling it made him look weak. "Come on lil Cappy, Brookie and Nokie are going to the idols."
Cappy followed the two happily and blissfully unaware of the seriousness of this situation. Orin carefully watched how he walked and made sure to steady herself encase he needed help. Occasionally he did have to depend on her to stay upright and she saw his annoyance at this. She smiled. Many stags seemed to hate looking weak. No matter how hurt he was Brooks would never look weak to her. He had done so many things for her that injuries would only be a sign of his strength instead. Finally they made it to the idols. Orinoco breathed a sigh of relief. She made sure Brooks was steady then walked forward to the idol. Her eyes moved between the two, many memories filling her. Closing her eyes she knelt down. The gem around her neck glowed and she rose. As she rose two large white stags with wonderful golden antlers came forth from the statues. They made themselves visible to Brooks as well. Cappy could have seen it though her young simple mind would not have really noticed anything strange anyway. In fact Cappy was distracted by a lovely butterfly and was romping not far behind trying to catch the little beauty. Orin nodded too the gods of the forest. "I am ready to make my wish" she said looking up at the two with confidence. The two looked between each other then back to Orin and Brooks. "Are you sure?" one spoke and Orin only nodded in response. They nodded together knowing that any attempt to change her mind would be futile. "Step forward" they spoke in unison to Brooks.

Brooks' eyes went wide as the large deer appeared from the statues. He looked over at Orinoco in an attempt to catch her eye, trying to figure out what this 'wish' was, but he felt a mental tug from the gods, encouraging him to step forward. The stag took a few steps towards the gods, his eyes looking at the ground, feeling unworthy to be looking at them. They made the forest for goodness sakes. Heck, they made him and Orinoco. Brooks stopped right in front of the two deer, waiting for whatever may come.
The two mighty stags looked then to Orinoco who bowed low and began to whisper something. They were quiet and waited until she rose. She smiled then looked to Brooks and backed away. The mighty beings moved forward to him, one placing their mouth over the first wound the other the same over the second. Both began to glow brightly with a brilliance that rivaled the sun. Finally their bright light filled the forest then vanished in a second. The only ones to witness such a glorious event were the two standing in front of the idols. As the light faded Orin stepped closer, the gem around her neck was gone but she was smiling. "How do you feel Brooksie?" she said moving around him smiling at the now fully healed wounds. Two bullets lay on the base of the statues before dissipating into smoke. "I suppose you can guess what my wish was huh" she said with a soft giggle. Yes it was saddening to lose her guardian whom resided in the stone, but she has found her other half, a being that can bring her comfort when she needed it. No longer did she need to defend on the gift her mother gave her. Had she not done such a thing then in a weeks time, she would have lost one of the most important deer in her life. Once in front of him she nuzzled his neck,"I love you, this was all I could think of doing for you"

Brooks cringed as the gods started to heal his wounds, the feeling of the bullets slowly coming unlodged and removed not all that pleasant. When the gods and the bullets disappeared, he looked at his shoulder and flank, all that was left of the wounds were small scars. Turning to Orinoco, Brooks hugged her with his neck and didn't let go, his eyes closed. [=chocolate]"What was that, Orinoco? Th-the gods... They... I saw th-them and..."]/color] The buck backed up, not feeling the bump that should be the stone in between him and her. "Oh Nokie... Your gem... Oh, I'm sorry."

"Heh, beats me. The only place I know where there are hats would be the human world. But I haven't beenthere for a while now, so who knows?" Brooks sat down in the snow. "Have you ever been to the human world?"

Orinoco nodded. She knew that hats were found in the human world. Since her journey to learn about her past she had not seen the human world. She actually did not know that she could get to the real world this came as a surprise to her. "The last time I was there." she began softly,"I WAS human" she ended, her voice still very soft. She looked up to Brooks,"So..how can we get there, and how do we look when we are there?"

Brooks understood her question and looked around. The forest was familiar. Good. He motioned with his head to outside of the woods,to an area that looked likesouthwest North America: sparse brush, deep canyons, among other significate details. Sharp whistles pierced the air and a herd of horses ran a few dozen feet in front of them. He lowered his body until it was covered by the semi-woodland brush. A thought crossed his mind on how to explain everything to Orinoco. He dug his hoof into the ground and wrote out 'Cowboy land. Horses cows'. Brooks looked up, hoping she'd understand. If not, he'd find someway else to tell her.

Hey, what do you think about the human noticing Brooks/Orinoco and starting a chase/hunt? It'd be dramatic and bring Brooks and Orinoco together afterwards. :3
Yes I love that idea!!!

Brooks froze, barely hearing Orinoco's cry to run. Gunshots... He had only ever heard that sound in his dreams, but now it was real... Now it was real... And he knew what happened if you were hit. The man cam closer, flicking off the safety and preparing to fire another shot. It embedded itself in a shallow wound in his flanks, he only ran faster. The man prepared to fire another shot. good lord, wouldn't he give up already? All this fuss for a simple cowboy hat? "Don't look back, Nokie! Keep running!" It fired again, Brooks didn't look to see where it hit. They were almost to the treeline, almost there.
Orin ran as fast as she can.

"I wouldn't have died there, Nokie. Got too much to live for." He smiled when she called him her other half, feeling the same way. "Now come on cowgirl." Brooks jested, pushing the hat forward to where it covered her eyes. "Let's go give Cappy her hat."
~~~~~~~~~~
Heyheyheyheyheyheyhey! Orin! Cydurp got an idea! This idea makes no sense whatsoever!
When they put the hat on Cappy, why not have her transform into a little fawn like Frosty the Snowman? That way Nokie doesn't have to be sad about fawns anymore.
You can shoot down this idea if you want to, I just had it pop in my head so I had to share.
Orin smiled, the stag was just being oh so charming she couldn't help but feel happy. When the hat was pushed over her eyes she laughed,"Ah hey!" she was able to reposition the hat then chased after the stag. Once at the snow deer she stopped, letting the hat drop a little then she caught it in her mouth"Lemph do et to geffer" she mumbled hoping he'd understand she wanted him to help her put it on the snow deer.
Brooks stared at Orinoco blankly, elevator music playing in his head as the muffled sentence took a few seconds to register itself in his head. "Oh! Yeah, right. Hat, deer. Okay, we'll do it together." He took up the other side of the hat in his teeth and lowered it down on the snow deer. It started to tremble and shake before finally moving. The small snow-deer opened its eyes and bleated, a pitiful little baby bleat. "In all honesty, I wasn't expecting that to work."
I originally was going by
Orin was born at the end of April, May has passed and we're almost through June, so Orin would be nearing year 2 and Brooks would be entering the first few days of year 3. Once Orinoco is 2 she'd be young adult by real deer standards. But if we wanted to speed it up, we'd go by half months.
To save you the math, Orin would be turning 3 and Brooks would be turning 4, both completely mature by real deer standards. All their bones would be fully formed and... Brooks' antlers makes no sense now, unless they haven't grown their fourth tine yet. X3
So they'd have these birthdays at the end of June.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to dump my head in a bucket of icewater *ded*
"Be nice, Nokie Dokie, there's a baby in the area." He teased back. Brooks turned to Cappy. "Alright you little derp. Follow my hooves with your eyes." The young buck sat down in the snow and held his front hooves up close to Cappy's face. Slowly moving them apart so her eyes would go in different directions if she kept following them.
Orin giggled then sat next to Cappy and watched. Cappy was entranced by Brooks as he sat in front of her. When he told her to follow his hooves she focused in carefully. Her eyes watched as they moved apart and with very little problem they eyes derped perfectly. Not being a real creature of any sorts had its benefits. Orinoco giggled at the sight. The little deer still had its tongue out which made it even funnier. Cappy laughed as well when Orin laughed. She didn't understand what she did but she liked that it made them happy.
Please gehahahahaha! Her eyes! Please get them uncrossehahahaha!"
Orinoco couldn't help but laugh rather loudly at Brooks reaction to the derp face. It was rather silly though she was not so affected by it as her companion. She moved in front of Cappy and knelt down. The little fawn still had a herp derp face on and she couldn't help but giggle. Gently she grabbed it's little cheeks with her front knees then moved her face closer and closer. After touching foreheads she moved back and the eyes were no longer derped."There you go" she giggled softly and got up.
