Man, lips are hard to draw

Man, lips are hard to draw (at least for me), but you did them beautifully! Teach me how. x3

Also, about the deer nose: I'm gonna link you to this picture by Uruushou, because it helped me understand how I could draw a humanoid face while still evoking a deer. The nose is broader, longer, more animal-like.

But that's just what helped me, personally. I'm still learning all the time, too.
Definitely looking forward to seeing more of your art. Smiling

Getting characters to look

Getting characters to look exactly like they do in your head is tough >< I like the 'human' face look, but the deer in the game are kind of a human/animal hybrid so I can see why that is also preferred. Uruu does a really great job with that, and you're right it kind of lies in the nose and the angles of the face. I'd also suggest lowering the ears from the top of the head to the sides of the head - where human ears would go, or a little higher. I really like how you do eyes and I agree the lips are really nice ^^ Also a fan of the hair but I agree it can get a big awkward... You could try just giving her 'bangs and slowly shortening it along the neck to merge with her fur? Including more of the deer neck in the picture could also help with the overall look.

@Brit - Yeah I just don't

@Brit - Yeah I just don't know about the hair omg. Maybe it's the short hair that gets me. Maybe I should stick to the longer like from the other sketch I did. Eh, I'll think it over between episodes of Real Housewives of New Jersey and other pointless things.

@Sleepythang - <3 thank you for always being supportive. You and Brit both.

@Anjali + Shi - Lips/mouths are the bane of my existence. I spent forever trying to get those to look right but even now I look at them and go... :/

Thanks for linking me to Uruu's pic, it really gives me some perspective. However, I was thinking it over today and realized that the human nose might not be so bad for Eraline - or at least a nose that appears humanish, but perhaps more exaggerated in size. Maybe smaller, rounder? Because I play her as if she has very human features. I think I will try both the more animal nose and a different kind of human-ish nose and see what fits best for my tastes. I will also reconsider where I place the ears next time.
