WILL THIS EVER BE UPDATED AGAIN?

Last update Rossamund was still dead ffs.

The first time.

Fuuuuck.

Little self-reminder/MOTIVATION to at least go and try to archive as many RPs as possible before Skype deletes them so I can actually remember what happened when I do get around to it.

STILL LOVE YOU, CRAZYBITCH. I'M SORRY.

least you get a bio tho

Doing everything in her power to keep her presence in the Forest lightly-felt and difficult to trace, but inevitably brought out of her seclusion on a few noteworthy occasions.

Reunited with Castallion when she first caught scent of the buck, glad to see he was in as great as shape as ever (and just as colorful in personality as appearance). Tended as much to Rossamund as she could, finding the boy needed counseling through an admittedly difficult chapter of his time in the forest. Tried to work with him on fighting in his ghost form and encountered a hostile June during one their sessions. Spoke with the Rabbit and attempted to diffuse a little of the ire she understandably felt for both of them, succeeding on a few small points she felt. Vowed to take advantage of what communication had been established to try to follow through on it in the future, and from that could only strongly advise Rossamund on how to handle interactions if he valued having a chance of a relationship with his "sister." (It seemed he had been stalking a few of her friends. No idea where he learned that kind of behavior...)

More than the "physical" however, being relegated to this form had the Myling contending with heavily emotional turmoil. Did her best to offer her support where she could through these dark times, not minding when he came to visit her and Indi although made it clear after an encounter with Rohit that he understood both children were to be protected at all costs. Didn't feel she had to say more than that, and Rossamund appeared uplifted by her mentioning that she considered him like family. Less enthused about received the title of Aunt, but it was neither the place nor time.

Speaking of confusing familial ties, had been making gradual progress in her relationship with Indi's son, still finding it imperative to get him on accepting terms with her before approaching Abhiri. Starting to consider it wise that Rohit learn to spar, as he's a quiet, serious little thing with a lot of pent-up energy, and she frankly thinks he could use the outlet. He'd (unfortunately) seen his first fight not too long ago, despite her and Indi's attempts to keep him out of it knows he saw far more than he should have. Attempted to egg him on a few times on a lazy evening at the Playground, under Indi's approval of course, and probably only succeeded in cementing her Weirdo image. Though was able to deadpan though her joy in causing him some adorable frustration in the process of trying to get him to wrestle.

Ended up laying off him finally, and he'd retreat back to his mother on the boulders glaring at her as if she was the single greatest source of evil on this planet. Joked with Indi a few times about how much he seemed to take after his mother and just kind of gets this look back that made her question if the Sangai also noticed a certain other resemblance the children bore... maybe JM wasn't going crazy after all.

One of the most significant recent occurrences to memory was no doubt Rossamund's safe and eventual return to life, after a long and frustrating journey. Saw to it that he was fed and accompanied for the first few days of his recovery, incidentally using up each of the rabbits she had asked him to kill just days prior, when food hadn't been of interest to him but was to her for a project. Didn't find out how it had happened, not finding the timing right then and also not having seen much of the Myling since that week, though hearing whispers here and there of some of his exploits, for better or for worse.

Caught Rohit and Abhiri out running around one night without Indi's usual constant supervision and got just close enough to keep an eye on them without alerting them to her presence. Indi showed up in no time, so she relaxed and fell into her own thoughts as the family played. Completely caught off guard when the trio came and took Red Hill by storm in a confusing game of Zombies, no doubt initiated by Rohit, and ended up getting involved in it whether she wanted to or not. Somehow had been promoted from "Evil Zombie" to "Zombie Hunter" in the little guy's eyes, which while it sounded like an improvement at the time, Jokerman quickly realized still made her the antagonist in the little game. Though she fought back, was quickly outnumbered, mobbed, and infected to his seeming delight before Abhiri tired out. Rohit still looked at her like she was nuts when she rubbed the trees afterward, in an attempt to get him to play a little more. Would have to try more drastic measures later, but for the time just took it in stride and settled near the group tentatively. Heart all but seized when the smallest of the trio wandered over and ended climbing onto her back and falling asleep there. A whole myriad of fears put to rest by seeming to get Abhiri's stamp of approval and Rohit's growing tolerance. Didn't say anything to Indi at the time but knows it meant as much to her, too.

Her time and visits with Indi had been occupying the majority of her mind in one way or another, either working during the day on small schemes and building contacts with deer relevant to those schemes, visiting the family in the evening or stealing moments alone with Indi during the night. Hadn't been sticking her nose into much else that was arguably not her business, at least not in any obvious way. And while things were definitely much improved from where they started, the last thing she wanted was to any way encroach on the Topaz's time with her recently reunited family, or to be perceived by an intruding force by either of them. Found Indi by the flower patch near the river alone tonight and gladly took the opportunity to spend some time with the mother.

It wasn't too long before they were being watched. Waited to see if the other (Indigo) would approach on his own, but aware that her own companion was a little less comfortable with the bird's approach (Player assumes Indi felt tacky being caught wearing the same name so embarrassing) and went to deal with it head-on, as was the Sangai's way. Watched this as well though eventually interfered just to make it clear to the newcomer they weren't going to be chasing him, giving him the chance to come closer if he wanted. Could remember every one of her run-ins with Morioch since returning to the Forest and they were intentionally few and far between, but had seen enough of his small bird companion to make a few conclusions about his presence. Knew it was likely that nothing more than simple curiosity that had spurred the visit, though there was a few other possibilities too.

With this thought, plopped herself on the ground, intending to see how the rest would play out. Laid her head on her forelegs and watched with half-lidded interest as she waited for him to either come closer or Morioch to show up, standing enthusiastically when the older male came by. Took the opportunity to observe his behavior and appearance, nothing more than a sniff to his small companion which caused a small stir of amusement in the Kudu as he took off again. Watched the littler one leave, regretting that she hadn't been able to exchange greetings but time enough for that later. Maybe. Whatever it was, it was still better than Xetkal, and she resumed her earlier stance that there was no need for her to get involved.

Aware as they settled back down that Indi was still tense. Assumed her own omniscient Jokerman way what it was about without even asking, leaned close and quietly launched into the best reassurances and promises she could give her friend. Was cut off with Indi's words of knowing, and complete trust in her, and that was enough. In a moment of intimacy responded with the only thing better than that that she could think of which brought the doe pressing closer, things instantly seeming a lot simpler and a lot more complicated in that action. Shut out the world and lingered in each other's companies for as long as possible before Indi had to return to the kids.

Left as well, figuring the twilight hours would be the best time to do this. Despite Rossamund having promised to replenish the rabbit supply, had taken it upon herself to kill, cure, and preserve a variety of small vermin carcasses over the weeks following his return. Gathered them now and went off to the Birch to speak to a contact she'd made there, wanting to pursue a little whim.

It's good to see you both.
...We'll have to do something about that maternally-instilled sense of virtue.

Keeping close at Indi's family's heels should the need for aid ever surface; apart from that, busying herself with other things.

Many visits from Rossamund, to her relief. The Myling was doing a good job of checking in and putting her mind at ease. Watching his appearance shift from avian to vulpine to, at times, something like his original form. Which is at once heart-rendingly gratifying and more than a little bit amusing when he couldn't seem to perfect the hue.

Helped him work on his coloration this afternoon, the process being long and consisting of much trial and error and doubtless lots of effort from the Ghost. Eventually he got it right and their efforts were rewarded. Definitely didn't fall into the pond at any point. Settled into a mood for a moment and took note of the little Ghost sneaking off. Equally curious of where he was going as she was what he would do off on his own, and opted to explore the latter today. Feigned slumber and waited. The thought process being "He can't get hurt... right?"

Wrong. The Myling came back a short while later and settled back next to her. Could sense something was off and kept her mouth shut, just eyed him thoughtfully. At last he started spilling. Questioned him on it a little bit about his participation in a fight, as much interested in his ability to be hurt as the source of his injury. It seemed to be another hallmark of him gaining aptitude in this form.

Joined by Ciel and Neela as well, greeted the pair somewhat briskly as Neela was being adorable and shy and what was Jo supposed to do with that?
Felt bad; she really needed to work on how she approach fawns, little girls in particular, but that thought was intermingled with the one that most kids start crying when she looks at them, and more lately have thought that she was going to eat their brains. Didn't want to do that to Ciel's family, and entertained other ideas, all of which consisted of staying seated for now.

Resumed talking with Rossamund, though noted his change in behavior with the pair's arrival. Found out about... something. Unsure. Ushered him a bit closer to Neela, perplexed at both their behaviors when she found out they were supposed to be friends. Also barked out some orders for any future 'incidents' with protecting others. Trying to work with him as it was evident the buck's code of honor was a part of him, and there was no use trying to pretend it couldn't get him hurt anymore.

...He has my ears.

Since disappearing five months ago, things have changed in ways even she hadn't expected. A contractual visit to the Soul Dealer Osias's hell resulting in her eventual breakthrough after being able to make contact with Eraline's ghost, in a deeply personal visit that she has kept to herself, but remains markedly changed by. Emerged with a renewed sense of obligation and the first hints of inner peace in years. Surprised herself more than anyone else by asking Indi if she could come along with her on her quest to find her children, instead of returning to the Forest as originally intended.

Visited the Sangai's homeworld in projected vessels and succeeded in establishing her children's souls' connections with the Forest. Concluded the long and arduous 'adventure' and returned to the Forest approximately a month ago, where they immediately set about trying to find the youths, both unsure and nervous that it hadn't worked out after all, or knowing if they would be able to recognize either fawn. Eventually mother and children were happily reunited, though it was clear it would take time and effort for things to settle down. Understanding of this, backed off immediately so as not to make the transition any rougher, even though falling back into old habits of withdrawing was the last thing she wanted right now.

Has busied herself with relearning the Forest. The first order of business being to touch bases with Henna. Accepted her sister's scolding for her lengthy absence (with no way of contacting) and insisted on learning of recent news. All worse fears seemingly came to light. Heartbroken to hear of Rossamund's passing, all the anger she felt directed purely at herself and even saddened that she had put Henna in this place. Made a sort of peace with it a few weeks later, however. Found a way to keep in touch with the boy's spirit and has not given up on finding a proper conclusion to these events. Treasures his attempts to make contact with her and does everything she can to increase the frequency of his visits.

A few other small visits here and there with others. Sat with Ciel at one point and was grateful as ever for his presence in her life, however little their paths may cross. But for the most part, drifted through the Forest like a ghost. Embracing the solitude and spending much time seemingly wrapped up in her thoughts near the riverbed, hardly moving to acknowledge the glances from certain passers-by; wisened up to a few less-friendly individuals in this way, though hasn't acted on it yet. Uncertain if she will. Also been crashing at the Topaz's home when she wasn't there, for a change of scenery. Sentimental like that. Found by Israel one afternoon in her favorite spot, and filled in on his recent travels. Unsure of how to receive the buck now that he's older, and treading carefully but firmly. Intends to learn more about him in light of Indi's relationship with her adopted son.

Rarely sees the Sangai after helping her to reunite with Rohit and Abhiri. Missing Indi like crazy after the events of the past months, which was expected and only natural. Using the time wisely, making preparations. Beginning to take small steps towards encountering the trio and familiarizing them with her presence, particularly Rohit, who already has a negative impression of her. Reassured by Indi that the boy has always been the cautious type. More endeared than anything with being able to see so much of his mother in the fawn. Happy to have them all here, and Indi so obviously happy.

Thoughts and perceptions challenged, even more than she thought they would be, by the two perplexing, spirited little creatures now in both their lives. Trying to do her best to give the newly-reunited family time to adjust, but acutely aware of certain aspects that are incredibly familiar. Keeping these thoughts to herself for the time being as she really isn't sure what it all means, though muses on it a lot in her spare time. Already charmed by and devoted to the fawns in mind, it seems.

Additional Notes

In excellent health. Elated, focused.

Appearance

A traveling spirit; has accrued many different traits—marks—throughout different lifespans which manifest in different ways depending on the realm she is in. In the Forest she takes the form of a rather plain Greater Kudu from a previous life, though with enough time spent, her appearance has begun to warp.

More personal and spiritually-bound elements have revealed themselves. Rich brown fur has deepened to mahogany, and is ticked with shades of bright ruby. Even the helm with which she'd once identified so deeply, a male Kudu skull, had been stolen and a new one replaces it now which is completely her own; forged out of a mysterious, non-organic material and sculpted to depict an almost mocking caricature of her nature.

Set one - Idol Pelt, Skull Mask, Key AntlersIndicates her helm, which is usually worn.
Her physical state is a direct reflection of her mental state, and though it can be manipulated somewhat for her own advantage, generally a rich red overtone and healthy amount of weight reflects ambition and physical preparedness, for better or for worse. There is no desire to be disguised or blend into her surroundings at these times and greater visibility is often the intended result. A beacon of confidence that welcomes friend or foe to find her.

Set two - Fan Pelt, Real Deer Mask, Noh Antlers When unmasked. Very rare; it takes a strong impact in her life to get her to shed her helm.
Her fur can vary from a lush, deep red, to a coarse ashen brown in periods of emotional decline. The waning desire to eat, drink, or tend to her physical being is indicative of taut emotions and negligent self-worth. It is not uncommon for her spine and hip bones to become pronounced in times of severe undernourishment. Despite the physical and emotional depletion, her mental faculties are commonly heightened in these moments, and may be the reason she allows herself to fall into such a sorry state. It is the next best thing for a Deer who strives to be invisible. Unpretentious and easily passed by but often incredibly keen to her surroundings.

Solid, sleek musculature, she has no great bulk and probably borders on the slender side. Neither does she have any appealing curves or plush fur; only a slight shagginess around her throat and a slightly out-of-control mane. Tall and gaunt even at her best.

She is unhorned, with a broad, angular face, and dark amber eyes. She generally has a somber demeanor that can range from incredible severity to an almost coltish humor, and can be difficult to decipher under a stone mask. Lithe in movement with a careful, efficient briskness. Movements are measured and appear carefully calculated, with hints of underlying tension.

Features

Ritual Helm Whether its use as a ceremonial object was meant in its own right, has become a tool to her own personal ritual in the form of hunts. Affords great measure of power, protection, and anonymity. Allows a disconnect from reality and identity that is to her day-to-day function as crucial as the great power it wields.
It boasts a somber, almost patronizing expression of sympathy and pity. Traded by the Craftsman.
Twin God Charm One of a pair of charms, once worn by Eraline. Forged into the crown of her new helm. Passed on by Ciel.
War Paint A tribute to a daughter from one mother to the other, usually covered by her mask. From Henna.
Soul Dealer's Scar Strange marking in the shape of a human hand, around her throat and neck region. Acquired upon entering Osias's world.
Bug Bite On her left shoulder, not visible from a distance. Courtesy of Allu.

Combat

Whatever her state of health, Jokerman almost always has great reserves of energy and stamina. Though strong for her stature, where brute force is concerned she can be outmatched by many of the Forests' residents. High dexterity levels compensate somewhat for this.

She is a tactical fighter and relies heavily on strategy and mind games, and is better than average at spotting the same in others. It is common for her to avoid fighting or at least greatly be able to diffuse it through countering her would-be opponents' actions. She is very controlled in movement and consideration, and it is rare for her to engage in combat unwillingly.

Though sparring is one of the few activities she enjoys, she is not one to get into meaningless fights. Jokerman is outcome-oriented and has very little pride to be manipulated. Safety is her driving ambition so she'll often occupy herself with evacuating innocents from the area or distracting the offender. She is not concerned about fair play or honor, and will gladly team up with other deer to take down someone she considers a true threat, though she is highly concerned with collateral damage.

She accepts great responsibility for her actions and would sacrifice her own well-being for an innocent without hesitation. A well-known weakness.

Faustt - At his recollection

Faustt -

At his recollection JM smiles sadly, so painfully familiar was the situation he had described. Perhaps Eraline had been trying to keep Ciel out of it, in the same way she had been keen to brush over it every time Jokerman had been angered by the trials Xetkal had put Era through.

"Of course," she whispers, shaking her head, shaking away the idea that she would ever hoard the comfort the charms may bring him, no matter who was in charge of their safekeeping. Her eyes seek out the form of her sister, last seen engaging the energetic Neil in a game of sparring, but Henna is no where to be found anymore. As of late, it seemed the Fallow was getting more and more scarce. Saddened slightly at the thought that she had perhaps repelled her best friend away with her constant moping, but thinking the charms may be just the thing to repair both their spirits, her gaze returns to Ciel who has come closer and she gives him the rare sincere smile, telling him her plans to keep them safe. Heart pounding, all the while.

"I will find a temporary place to store it, a safe place, and I will take you there as soon as I do. Should Henna and I ever decide to move them, which may be wise, for safe keeping, you will be informed immediately, I promise. You and us--we will never lose her."

With that promise, she cranes her neck down, not to collect the charms but simply to touch them, for the first time since her daughter's death able to be soothed by the smooth grooves of the familiar, fine detailing. She will talk to Ciel again soon, she owes it to him now, but also to herself. There's a part of Jokerman that believes he can actually be happy, and it would do her so good to see someone Eraline loved, be happy. She herself would do a lot of things if it meant she thought it would ensure the buck would be happy, and will, if ever given the chance. She will not forget this.

"Thank you, Ciel."

Hey! I was wondering if you

Hey! I was wondering if you would be willing to have Eraline suffer from a small bite by Ally, since they were just fighting. Details of the effects of his bites can be found on his bio labelled Allu+. If not, that's fine, I just think it would be interesting to see a character go through dealing with his poison. c: Also, this comment acts as a track.

No problem! JM (not Eraline,

No problem!
JM (not Eraline, that'd her dead daughter and Allu would probably have to go through some major trouble digging her up and infecting her, not to mention the after effects of what her ex-mate, Jo, Henna, and her other guardians would do to him afterward :X) could do with laying low for a few days, and a reason to hate Allu even more. xD
Can you possibly post here which exact symptoms a deer might experience? I found the Wikipedia article but it mentions a lot of things and I'd want to portray it accurately.
Thanks for pointing out that this was something she might experience, would have missed it otherwise. xD

Sorry! I don't know your

Sorry! I don't know your characters very well. ;; And yes!

Alright so the poison causes a trip-like experience similar to LSD/acid. So for a small bite the victim would see the trees as waving and spinning around slowly, expanding and contracting. Colors would drag from place to place in their vision and sounds would be heavily escalated. This should last for roughly three days.

The venom would also cause the flesh to rot in a 10cmx10cm square area or in whatever shape. The flesh will continue to rot for about a week, slowing down progressively. It would take roughly a month to heal fully without medical aid and should scar if not attended to, though that's up to you since JM is your character.

Any other effects are up to you as well as the full effect of the effects. Let me know if you have any other questions. ^-^ And I appreciate you doing this.

I think I'll add this all to his bio as well.

Guilty of the same. :( But

Guilty of the same. :(

But all right! Sounds like a blast. Is this an immediate reaction or would it be delayed at all? (since I've been playing her normally after our encounter last night x_x).

...Haha... of course JM agreed to help a friend out in a really delicate situation some time today, too. Oh well... helping, running around in the background tripping your ass off. Same thing.

Thanks for the info! You definitely should put it on his bio. I'm sure you'll get a lot more people to participate with this as well.

Oh, right, any thoughts on where Allu bit Jo?

She can start to react whenever! Though her reaction shouldn't be too much since Allu only gave her a little nip. c:

Left shoulder, I think would be the best place. Or right, either one.

But she would probably start to feel the effects soon, since her blood has been pumping for a while.

Perfect! And all right. xD

"You don't look so well."

"You don't look so well." Indi spoke after forcing the Kudu to wash out her wound. She had then brought her to a small but comfortable, shaded patch of grass and other vegetation. She had settled close by, giving the red warrior some space. Indi continued to eye the wound, already figuring out that it was not a puncture from a tine but rather..from teeth. And she had a feeling who the culprit was.

Whatever that.. barbaric creature was, she wouldn't doubt that it could possibly carry some kind of infection in its mouth. Disgusting little thing it was.. she recalled yesterdays events, when Jo had kept the abomination at bay and despite its many tries in being 'civil', it still gave her the creeps. No, it only made things worse really and Indi was insulted - did he not remember that day he attacked her? Completely unprovoked..Well, she didn't forget and she certainly wouldn't forget what he had done to Jokerman.

The topaz doe quickly shook her head of the thought and returned her attention to Jo. "How are you feeling?" she questioned, not so much for the sake of being polite but more about finding out what her symptoms were.

How perfect! 8D You're

How perfect! 8D You're playing out the symptoms perfectly!

Panic crept up on the Kudu

Panic crept up on the Kudu just as surely as anything. It was one thing to suspect you weren't feeling well, and another to hear it voiced out loud by another. Indi's help in fighting off Endriaga had been greatly appreciated, and right now she would have traded a thousand fights with Allu for Indi's help in driving off the little barbarian. Never mind that Jokerman would have been able to fend Endri off better herself if she hadn't in such bad shape right now. And all that was to say nothing of all the past times the topaz doe had aided Jo in fighting off or keeping tabs on various enemies. Taking on Allu with another doe went only a small way towards paying the gold female back for all she had done.

"A little dizzy," she mumbled, but that was an understatement, and not even a very accurate one at that. This was like, the absolute worse time to ever be poisoned. It was bad enough that she always seemed to run into Indi whenever she was at her lowest points in life. Trying to seal out thoughts of the promise she'd made to help Phaios the night before, Jo shut her eyes and dropped her head to the ground, hiding her nose under a bushel of very dynamic blueberries.

Mauv - ROFL! I'm so glad. I blame it on watching so many Beatles music videos...
Sleepything's picture

Indi's ears fell back at the response, it was clear as day to see what kind of shape Jo was in. Although, she was completely oblivious to what she was seeing but her odd movements from before were definitely an indicator that something more than just dizziness was going on. Indi was no medicinal expert but memories of a life long ago could be of some use now. So when their little friend - Castillion - arrived, she figured now was a good time. "Stay here with the boy." She said, sternly as she got to her feet. "I'm going to bring you back some things that might help you. So just rest." And with that, she left.

Blueberry fields

Blueberry fields forever!

-----------

Jokerman's head remains firmly half-buried (well, she believes fully buried) until Indi's next words. The boy? What boy?

She raises her head and casts another hard, focused gaze into blueberries. She then half jumps out of her skin when she makes out a greenish blue blur that until now she'd assumed was part of the bush. Aha.
Her ears pin back involuntarily at the other doe's instructions but she is in no real state to argue right now. Besides, she was curious what Indi could possibly find to help her current situation.

"I'll be here," she assures her. Jo didn't dare stray too far from their spot right now. In her current state, there was no promise she'd be able to make her way back.
Sleepything's picture

Indi had gathered a few items

Indi had gathered a few items from close by areas in the forest, she didn't need many things so it really didn't take her long. She didn't want to leave Jokerman and the kid by themselves for too long.. she thought she had made good time but when she got closer to the place she had left the pair, she realized maybe she had taken too long.

There was quite a commotion, that dark creature had found Jo and decided to stir up quite a bit of trouble. After a lot of chasing and pounding hooves and bodies, everything started to settle down again. And soon the topaz doe was sitting beside the group again with a fawn curled at her side. She waited until both Castillion and the child had fallen asleep when she finally revealed what she had brought for Jo.

"Its bark from a willow." she said, flatly as she nudged the small pieces of bark in the kudu's direction. "It may be rough but eat it anyway..it should help with any fever or pain you might be dealing with right now." The doe then showed her a clump of roots she had collected as well, "This will help fight infection."

After a few minutes of chewing on said roots, she inched closer to Jokerman to inspect and press the chewed roots against the wound - not really caring about getting any special permission and if the kudu were to protest, well, she might end up with another bite.

adorable art by Tuoho! ♥

JM lets out a relieved sigh

JM lets out a relieved sigh when Indi returns and the commotion dies down. And with herbs to boot. She was grateful, really. If it wasn't for Indi the best treatments the wounds likely would have received was being flushed out with water a couple times a day, and that would be if Jokerman could manage visiting the stream without taking on the Crying Idol and drowning.

"Thanks," she mumbles, gathering the bark and pushing it beneath her super secret hiding under the bushes for later. She certainly wasn't going to choke down the stuff in front of Indi. Almost as if on cue, Indi ducks down to get something, and Jo watches transfixed as a mess of orange and gold tones bleed into the blueberries, the ground, and sky momentarily coloring a topaz halo around the other doe. The colors dissipate out just as fast, and Jokerman's eyes widen when she realizes Indi has something in her mouth that she's been chewing at.

"Wait a minute, you're not going to--" Jo doesn't even have enough time to figure out if she's OK with this before Indi proceeds to spit out the roots and shove their wet mashed up corpses onto her shoulder, and Jokerman hisses, not out of any pain so much as the injury to her pride. Gods, she was hugely appreciative of the amber-hued doe and the countless battles they'd fought together, predators she'd helped her stake out or drive off without question, and back-up she'd provided for all the times JM had gotten in way over her head. But first the boundaries of their relationship had been breached a few days ago with that impromptu play session the golden deer had initiated--which, in case Indi thought Jo hadn't forgotten about, she hadn't--and now she had this doe's saliva on her.

Rude. "If I didn't have a whole bunch of others things goin' on right now I would not be all right with this." She informs haughtily, having decided as much just now. Didn't want Indi to get the wrong idea, not that she was even sure what that was.

The reaction was nothing she hadn't expected, not at all. Typical. Indi rolled her eyes then shot a glare at the crimson, "And if I wasn't around, who else would be up to the task to do this for you, hm? You're welcome." she replies in an equally haughty tone. The doe then shook her pelt, "Don't be so immature." she adds.

However, and she would never let on about this, the doe felt a bit embarrassed now and if it weren't for her fur - well she might even be a little flushed around the face. Despite the increasing amount of moments they've spent in each others company lately, Indi never really counted on being so close and taking care of Jo. Not like she didn't mind but she too didn't want Jo to get the wrong impression here, whatever it might be. Indi wasn't the type to go around caring for others aside from her charges, she had her own pride and reputation to manage.

"Try not to move too much so the roots stay there for a while. And don't forget to eat that bark." Indi snorted and got to her feet again only to rest a foot or so away from the crimson doe, her gaze drifting elsewhere.

Fair enough. In point of

Fair enough. In point of fact, if Jokerman hadn't incurred a huge gross flesh wound Indi wouldn't have to do anything about it, but Jo was not really self-aware enough to make that connection at this point it. JM's ears go back again when Indi tells her to stop being immature, but that caps the amount of defiance she is capable of displaying right now. "I said thanks," she says quietly before sniffing and preparing to lower her head back to her forelegs.

But suddenly the world spins and hues shift and Jokerman knows Indi is moving again, and Jo picks her head up and watches to make sure she doesn't go too far. Satisfied when the golden female makes herself comfortable only a small distance away, still within touching distance as a matter of fact, not that they are going to touch each other but just as a matter of scale.

... fidgeting only causes the world to blur together worse, so Jokerman takes a break and restricts her vision to the ground, angling her head downward and staying still as best she can, the picture of indignant resignation. She doesn't want to risk the roots falling off and having to go through the whole embarrassing ordeal again. "I'm sorry," she says, eyeing her mysterious ally with a small sigh that really had nothing to do with her. "I've been in a bad mood lately, even before I got bit by that creepy insect thing. Now I just keep worrying it deposited an egg sac in my bloodstream."

Indi keeps her eyes elsewhere but she kept one ear on Jo, just in case. A quiet snort left her nostrils at Jokerman's statement. "It probably did." She retorts, casting a quick side glance at her. She did feel sorry for the kudu, not in the sense of pity, just in the way she could feel for her and not because of the infected bite. No, there were invisible wounds - deeper and more painful than anything in a physical form could inflict. So she felt sad to see Jokerman in her state and she wondered if there were any happy times the crimson could recall.

She sighed and looked at Jo again, her eyes were tired now. There had been too much mental and physical stress throughout the day and now she was exhausted. But she wouldn't rest until she was sure that Jo wouldn't start convulsing and spitting foam from her mouth, "Try to get some rest. I'll check on your wound again soon."

Lmfao Mauv... horrifying. But

Lmfao Mauv... horrifying. But yes you definitely should.

--------------------

"Shut up." The Kudu closes her eyes tightly as the world takes her for another ride, trees around her spinning and the ground under her seeming to tilt, her own legs sprawling out somewhat to counter the sudden vertigo. Thought she might have fallen up for a second, imagined getting caught in one of the branches and stuck up there (goddammit it). Dreamed up spinning a web for a family of little sticky black spider fawns... who would hatch in her neck or appendix or something before not too long, slowly eating their way out of her back before they would each claim a section of the web, and a strong gust of wind would sweep them all away, one by one, and gently carry each floating baby spiderdeer string away to what would be their new homes...whoa. That was a vivid one.

The scene passed by and a more accurate depiction of the present was painted before her instead. No insect babies, but one or two precious fawns still curled around Indi's haunches. The golden deer's profile so appealingly elongated and serene and her tones so vibrant in contrast that they seemed to move despite how still show was, hinting at such exotic unknown unknown colors that Jokerman might have thought she was hallucinating if she hadn't been saved by the same doe so many times before.

"Indi," she declared breathlessly, seemingly out of nowhere,"this whole forest is too wretched and horrible for your beauty to be believed. Why did you come to me?" Whether the question was rhetorical or not was unclear, probably up to Indi if she would respond, JM hanging her head miserably and then sticking her nose far behind a cluster of blueberries and then going dead quiet. Heeding the other's advice, perhaps.

If Indi had been chewing or drinking something at that moment, it would have surely sputtered and spewed from her lips shattering any kind of elegant poise she might've had. Fortunately, for both, she didn't have anything in her mouth and was simply left with a puzzled look. Maybe that damn thing really had laid eggs in her flesh, crawled up to her brain and started messing with the wiring up there. However, the surprised expression soon softened and amused smirk danced across her long snout. Her light maroon nose twitched as she suppressed a laugh whilst she watched Jo's own muzzle bury itself in the vegetation.

Still, the crimson's question still rang through her ears and she too, began to question herself. She pondered as she continued to look down at the pitiful creature, who on most days was more of a knight in her eyes and something to be admired. Not that she ever really thought much on that before, right? Ahem. Hopefully by now, Jo had been swept away into another psychedelic dream.

"Simply..you drawn me in. I can't help it." Indi replied softly. She gave Jo one last look before she curled into herself, nose tucked into her amber fur.

It's fine! I don't mind at all, though I'd imagine he wouldn't like it at all. Any sort of nickname like spider, roach, bug, freak, monster, pest, vermin, ant, flea, termite, beetle or whatever you come up with is fine. I'm not really sure how he would respond to any of them though, he would probably enjoy being called a roach despite how mean it is.

I'm rambling. I don't mind it. x3

Do you think Jo might develop a sort of fear of Allu after all the nightmares?

LOL! Ok, excellent, thank

LOL! Ok, excellent, thank you. Had a hard time deciding between alien and bug adjectives for him, but because of the poison thing and you mentioned pinc(h)ers on his bio, figured he was more insect-like. xD She'll have fun putting those name options to use though, haha.

Hm, I mostly was kidding about the nightmares although likely she'll have a few weird hallucination type things while he's still fresh in her mind and she's still under the effects of this trippy poison (daymares?). When she's back to rights she'll hate him like she hates most of the predatory deer under the 'Target' list on her bio--which is to say she doesn't want him to poison someone else :X JM isn't very concerned about something bad happening to herself anymore but she does kind of live for making predator-deers' lives as difficult as possible. Although this hasn't been fun for her at all and she will definitely try to avoid getting snagged by him again, so good luck to her figuring out a way to do that. xD

Finally, there was quiet and

Finally, there was quiet and finally it was just the two of them -- well..almost. But Bao's small little form snuggled up at her side didn't really prove to be problematic, at least for now. The girl was quiet and non-intrusive enough so Henna snatched the opportunity to speak with her sister. She let out an exasperated breath before she cast Jokerman a small, weak smile.

"Hey Jo.." she would start. "I want to apologize for being so.. elusive lately. It's just some personal stuff I've needed to finish and hopefully soon it will be." There. It had been eating her up for days now, being so secretive and avoiding JM - she could only hope the kudu really hadn't noticed. Besides, this wasn't even why she wanted to talk, she just felt obligated to say something about her weird behavior and now that it was done with, she could move on to what was weighing heavy on her mind.

"Thane approached me not too long ago. The same night Phaios and you had approached me." Her tone had dropped to a very serious tone now as did the look on her face. "He's..he asked me to do something awful and spoke of other disturbing things." Her jaw clenched as she felt the rage return to her, the cold steely grasp at her chest. "He thinks I owe him a deal and that my end of needs to be met... He's insane, Jo. He told me if I didn't uphold my end of the bargain he'd 'make my life hell' and..I don't really care what he does to me but..I'm afraid he'll try to hurt others because of this." Her expression melted into something of desperation and guilt, how could she be such an idiot?

"I'm at a loss as to what I should do."

Jokerman's ears instinctively

Jokerman's ears instinctively draw back at the sound of her sister's voice breaking the din. It was like the fall of the ax she'd been waiting for for weeks now... the acknowledgement of all that had been going on with them both. Jo's shuts her eyes slowly and then reopens them, turning to look at Henna somberly but doing her best to seem steady and resolute as always. She was tired but not that tired, and in a way she knew what this would be about even before she spoke.

"Of course, Hen..." She mutters, whether she means it or not is hard to tell. Maybe she's finally mastered better control over her expressions, now that there doesn't seem to be any hope of ever getting her mask back. JM had noticed, or rather felt, her best friend's absence lately, hard, but she would be a hypocrite to pretend she didn't have her own skeletons in closets, so for now she says nothing more of Henna's secrecy. Even if she considered it, the mention of 'Thane' instantly ejects all other thoughts from Jokerman's mind. Her wide-eyed gaze scans Henna frantically.

"Did he hurt you, Henna?" Anger may not be as readable in her features but it is dead written in her tone of voice. She remembered that night, it was blurry but she still remembers the horrifying retch of Xetkal's scent on the Fallow's fur. She'd had time to prepare somewhat ever since then, that he had probably said some really disgusting things to Henna... but she'd remember if she'd been hurt, right? She'd remember her sister's blood. But she had to be sure. "What'd he do to you? If he touched you because of one of those revolting deals I swear..."
Sleepything's picture

"No." Henna answers though

"No." Henna answers though her eyes cast down. But his words had left something that had already began to fester and infect, much worse than any wound he could have inflicted. And she wished more than anything that he actually HAD been physical, had not said what he said..she didn't like this new feeling of bubbling rage.

Her eyes quickly lifted once more to meet JM's face. "He didn't do much except for run that disgusting mouth of his." she replied with a snort. "I don't want him to hurt anyone else though, Jo. All I want is for his filth to be gone.. I want him to pay for all the shit he's done.. to her. To you." The fallow spat. "He asked for a fawn so that he could harvest its skull. Jo..We need to do something about him."

adorable art by Tuoho! ♥

"... He won't do it." She

"... He won't do it." She said softly, looking up and giving her sister the most reassuring, sympathetic look she could. Henna had to believe her, as absolutely horrifying as the thought was, that Xetkal wouldn't do something as absolutely depraved as that. Not on her watch. "He's already said as much... he... he has no use for fawn parts, because... the thing he would do with them, it's too much trouble... for him. It requires help from other deer and, he said, no one knows how to keep their mouth shut." A bitter pause follows this statement. Maybe that was why he'd told Henna this; he knew she would pass it along to Jo. Probably know she'd be powerless to do anything about it. Maybe he thought it'd make her bite. It doesn't make her feel better, to know with reasonable certainty that Xetkal wasn't out poaching fawn skulls right now, and she doubts it comforts the Fallow any too. Jokerman lowers her head and makes her own confession to Henna.

"I feel so helpless, Hen. I thought I could forget about him, about all of them, and find peace. Every time I think I've found it, I turn a corner and several new obstacles get thrown in my path. Trying to forget... and move past... spending time with others and keeping my head down... I don't feel peace at all. I just feel empty. I'm not getting my old life back. I can't move on. But I want something. If you really feel that way too, I'll know... it's not just me, that I'm not wrong."
Sleepything's picture

Henna's ears were flat even

Henna's ears were flat even as Jo tried to reassure her, as much as she wanted to believe JM, she wasn't even sure what Thane was even capable of these days. His mind was so far gone, what wouldn't he do? Even if he didn't need a fawn for..well, whatever witchcraft he did, she didn't doubt that he might just slaughter an innocent just to spite her. Or even hurt her loved ones because she hadn't fulfilled her part of the deal. The thought made her feel sick and panic would have began to creep up if Jokerman hadn't continued to speak.

Reality snapped back and Henna listened to her sister now. She nodded solemnly and found herself lowering her head as well. "I do feel that way, Jo. Every single day." she breathes from her nose and her tone grows low and dark, "The only thing that will bring me peace is to see him gone, rotting at the bottom of the pond."

adorable art by Tuoho! ♥

Words could not describe the

Words could not describe the feelings of relief that came rushing in. That was all she needed to hear. Jo felt responsible for her sister's troubled state; after all, the whole reason Henna had gotten mixed up with Xetkal to begin with was to ask about making her a new helm. At the time JM had only agreed to it because she wanted to know where her old mask had gone... She hadn't dreamed that Xetkal would seek Henna out again. She would make this right. "Thank you."
