So, let me begin by saying it's really nice to meet all of you!
Anyways, here's a cool little origin story to introduce myself. I recently joined, (AKA: yesterday), and at first, I must admit I was hesitant. I usually don't go for multiplayer-type games, and at the time of seeing this gem, did not understand the full concept involved. I was surfing the web just looking for any possible games similar in some way to an old game I adored, WolfQuest, that has, sadly, seemed to slowly chip away into nothing. After a while of searching, I came upon TEF. The graphics, from what I saw at first, looked absolutely intriguing. Though the faces of the deer were, admittedly, a bit odd to me at the time, I overlooked it in order to test out the gameplay. Lo and behold, however, my poor laptop is definitely not up to requirements! However, at this point in time, the gameplay and ideals of the experience had caught me enough that I jumped on our higher-powered desktop to find out just what this game had in store!
I began with testing it out, making sure it ran smoothly on the desktop (it was definitely fine), then, curious about just what the multiplayer might hold, I signed up. I thought it'd be one of those stereotypical multiplayer MMORPGs that used a chat-based system where often trolls would pop up and annoy everyone around. Much to my surprise, I found no such chat. Instead, I found plenty of little fawns and stags prancing around in the wild, interacting with a language I had yet to learn (and still only vaguely understand after a couple hours of gameplay). Well, I was hooked, to say the least! I wanted to learn about these new friends-- or perhaps uneasy allies, even-- and learn their strange ways. After a bit of fiddling with the controls, I found myself in play-fighting matches between other fawns, curious sniffing of the larger, much more unique adults, and even prancing around, merely watching what the others did and slowly learning. Somehow, this simple game had drawn me in-- hook, line, sinker.
My usual games include Assassin's Creed (I've played 2, 3, and own 4 but haven't played all the way through), Fable (1, 2, and 3, along with the rather upsetting 'Journey' Kinect game), the Legend of Zelda series, along with some other odd assortment. Rarely did I join in with multiplayer online, as I leave those sorts to my brothers whom would rather mass murder on CoD or beat newbies at some basketball game. I always preferred to keep my little world separate from the harsh outside world. Even during WolfQuest, I rarely ventured onto the online servers, for fear of whatever lay in wait for me. Yet, here I was, enjoying interesting interactions between myself and another person like I never before had even dreamed of. After a bit of time, my eyes a bit exhausted from staring at such beautiful scenery, I rested, and out of curiosity, brought up quite a few reviews on the game. I must say I do agree with the most positive. The game is immersive, to say the least. Curiously enough, many of the reviews seem to discuss a philosophical point of the game, that you develop a way of understanding that few games ever will achieve. And that mutual point is what truly gives this game the beauty I will look forward to for months, and years, to come. This is definitely not a typical MMORPG game, that's certain. And I truly will continue to enjoy the game, and hope to find some friends through the community in time.
But enough of my rambling thoughts! I should really try to sleep -- it's late here. While I only have school on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, I need to keep a good schedule! That probably won't happen, but I can dream, right?
Anyways, this was my rather ramble-y way of introducing myself, and I'm sorry if I lost most of you with such lengthy text! I am a bit of a writer and have dabbled in roleplaying since I was young, making me have a way with fluff... (Though that will all change when I finish my Journalism class!) So, without much else to say, I really enjoyed this game and I really hope to make friends here!
