My deer
La is in the beta and doesn't get to encounter others very often. As a result, I don't get to interact with you other players, and that makes me kind of sad--especially when I see all the bios for awesome deer that I want La to meet. Anyone who wants to RP with La is welcome to jump in because
I'm so lonely we'll have a lot of fun!
[This is currently categorized under "Miscellaneous" because I'm not sure where else to put it.]
Yes, yes. Kheiron saw.
He didn't know anymore. The only thing he knew was that he was right. He hadn't lied to him.
Kheiron shut his eyes tightly for a while. Too much thinking, too much... confusion...
Opened them again. Decided to forget about this just now and turned his attention back to La and The Book.
"I see...", he said, slow exhaling. "Does this thing say where they came from? Like, why the creatures in the picture are in The Forest? And why they're not here anymore? Maybe they're from a different... place?"
The last sentence didn't seem right. It was strange that Kheiron suddenly connected the pieces so fast.
Maybe he'd been listening to other deer's stories about their former life.
Maybe not.
La thought she saw sadness in
She turned a page.
There are many structures, and even more humans moving around. They do not seem to be organized like a herd of deer or a school of koi or a flock of geese. None of them appear connected, although there are so many that their shoulders touch.
La had never been near that many deer before. While she knew much of humans, she could never really think like one of them. When she saw them so close together, she wondered if perhaps they were like ants, appearing disorganized, but with an underlying layer of order.
The next page showed humans traveling in a line. A woman holds a leather bound book to her chest. There is an animal with four legs ending with hooves. Superficially, it resembles a deer, but its long nose and huge hooves give it away at a horse. In the distance there are many trees, and the tiniest of outlines of a deer.
La made a small noise, and then tilted her head to the side to tell Kheiron that the book's knowledge ended there. She did know where they had gone after they were in The Forest, only a few things from their travel to the now sacred home of deerkind.
"So many..." His eyes opened
His eyes opened wide in awe. It was indeed quite interesting.
He had never been able to imagine a human before.
Well, this makes sense, I guess...
He seemed really interested in this - and he was, but he was so calm about it that it could seem there were some underlying emotions he was swooping away and ignoring. Normally he would get really excited and all worked up by learning things like this.
Instead he was acting so calm.
"So, this is where the fun stops? No more content in this thing? What about the symbols? I would like to know more... I think."
He paused. Hesitated. Would it be too obvious? La must have noticed the change in him by now.
Ahh, what's the big deal...
"It doesn't say anything about... other creatures in The Forest..?"
(lol, there's a song reference in there but I doubt anyone will see it xD)
Oops... uhh... I thought he

I mostly listen to the first shit that I find in the Internet, actually. Say, example, the "original" hiphop dancing themes are inspirating.
The only singers I seriously hate are Justin Beaver, Monsier Gago, Miley Cyrus, all those random pop singers, M.M, the fail, Hollywood Undead and the metalcore puppet faces that don't do anything except sitting on their ass the entire day while other people write and plan their life for them. Which doesn't mean I don't like some sorts of pop, crunchcore and metalcore.
But I find the mix of them... slightly painful and disturbing.
Oh don't worry, I didn't
And it actually amuses me that you mentioned H.U. xD hiphop? nooooo. They've become a shame, really. Especially after their singer Deuce left them. (I think he left them because he didn't think they were serious enough? xDD dunno, I might be thinking of another band)
Also both my family and my closest friends are really into music, so I kind of pick up things from everywhere. I just pick up from those I know have a clue about what they're talking about, though. ü
((I don't know the song you
The fun never ended in La's book, as it turned out, and when she turned the page it was filled with pictures of deer, birds, frogs, and a number of other animals that one could always find roaming The Forest. Around each picture were the ubiquitous little symbols. La could read them without even thinking, but she didn't know how she would explain them...
She wondered how she had learned them in the first place, and remembered that it had not been a gradual learning process, and she had learned more or less all at once. The Book was the best teacher, because it taught with magic.
She tapped the pages with a hoof and looked expectantly to Kheiron. "Lala!" You can do this! Use the book!
(you actually began your
Kheirons eyes quickly wandered through the pictures, but it wasn't quite what he was looking for. He decided to let the subject fade for a moment before asking more about the content in the book.
When La wanted him to "use the book", he didn't quite know what she meant but figured it might had to do with the symbols. He still had no idea what they were other than that they probably held information of something, and since La hadn't been able to explain to him what they were yet, she probably wanted him to experience their purpose on his own.
Without a word, he took the book again and looked really deep into the symbols. Unfortunately, he was looking for logic rather than a sudden understanding through the book, and all he got in return was a dizzy head and more confusion.
He sighed. "I still don't get it... Believe me, I want to, but... I don't understand. It doesn't make any sense."
He felt almost like a failure for not getting it. He really had begun believing this book held information he could find useful, but it was hard getting that information through La when her speech was so restricted.
What an annoying situation.
The fawn's ears drooped and
"La. La," she half-mumbled, half-spoke, never blinking and still looking through the book. Do as I do.
It was not easy. One had to focus on not focusing. After doing this for a moment, the fawn felt a wave of serenity hit her. Magic.
((*is temped to jump in*, but
((If you want to set up an RP
(I'm really sorry this has
Kheiron saw that the fawn was extremely determined to get him to understand the symbols, but he had more or less given up on it already. He had tried but he didn't quite know what exactly she wanted him to do. Concentrate? Focus really hard? He had tried that - it didn't work. He was obviously doing something wrong, but he had no idea what.
Only because La was so importunate he decided to give it a last try. He still didn't think he would be able to see it, but he would try. For La.
He tried to copy what La did; looked through the book.
Did this for a while.
Focused so long he didn't focus anymore.
Still...
Nothing.
Sighed.
Tried again.
Focus.
No.
Then, something.
Almost like some kind of a disclosure that suddenly hit him in the face.
Tried to keep his focus, but still - the symbols were only lines and curves randomly put together.
"Yeah..."
He hesitated for a few seconds before continuing: "I felt it, La. There's definitely something here. But still the symbols don't make any sense to me. Maybe the deer who have used this book are special. Maybe they are more sensitive to magic. I don't know, but I can't figure this out yet. You have to give me some time on this."
He sighed. He was not frustrated, only tired; like all this information had drained his energy away from him.
"You know, maybe we could agree to a compromise? Are you interested in learning to express yourself more than you are able to now? I feel like you're the kind of deer that love teaching and showing others new ideas and stuff, and you must surely feel you can't get others to truly understand you? Maybe, if I teach you this, then you can teach me what the symbols are as we progress. What do you say?"
(No problem! I'm about to
La's eyes widened at the prospect of speaking like the other deer. She would give her book for the
opportunity to have conversations. "La!" She said immediately. Yes, absolutely! Not only was Kheiron going to let her teach him, he was going to teach her. It was an ideal trade.
Gratefully, she rubbed her head against Kheiron's side, then closed the book carefully. "Lalala," she said reassuringly, as if to say, You'll get the hang of it soon!
Then a massive yawn escaped her, and the day's events caught up to the fawn in an exhausting wave. She yawned again just as soon as her first yawn ended. She braced against the stag for an expansive, third yawn, and then sat abruptly and put her head on the ground, prepared for bed in an instant like all young creatures who suddenly realize how tired they are.
"Lala." I'm sleepy. Good night.
Kheiron smiled when he saw
He had become rather fond of this lovely fawn already.
"Good night, La", he whispered gently to her.
He was glad she had liked his suggestion. Learning her how to talk could be a very interesting challenge. He had no idea how to, but he was determined. He could do it. He would learn La how to speak.
He smiled at the thought of it. Lowered his head and neck down to the chilly grass and closed his eyes.
(so, should we end the RP here or skip to another day? We could perhaps skip to when Kheiron tries to learn La how to speak? ü what do you think?)
(Let's skip ahead to La
La shifted her weight anxiously from leg to leg, worried that, above all else, she would disappoint Kheiron. She had tried on her own to say real words other than the simple "la" from which she took her name. The fawn had failed on each occasion. There was nothing more frustrating than wanting to talk and being unable... she'd managed to circumnavigate that problem with many deer by using her book, but the one deer that she really wanted to talk to couldn't read it. She had reached an impasse, and if ever there was a time for La to learn to talk, this was it.
(awh, good to hear :'D I'm
Kheiron himself had gotten rather excited about the thought of learning someone something as important as talking. It was a pretty vital thing when everyone around you was able express things you couldn't. You would automatically be so much more restricted.
Kheiron concluded that in order for it to work out for everyone, everyone had to manage how to speak or everyone had to be mute.
It was not that Kheiron wanted so strongly for her to talk, but he knew that life wouldn't be easy for her if she didn't.
"So, are we ready for today's lesson?"
He smiled. He was the patient type, so he was confident he would be able to teach her at least something. Confidence and positivity. That was two important factors.
"Don't worry, there's no stress. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it pretty soon. It's really just about making different sounds. You already know the meaning of most words, don't you? And you know how to make other sounds than just La. Like, you know how to moo and bellow if you want to. Now I'm just going to teach you how to separate the sounds you make!"
La thought about what he was
She looked around after a moment. "La?" Now what?
"Okay", he said. "Sit down.
Kheiron thought La should get the hang of this one pretty fast. And once she did, the rest of the vocals should be easy, too. The consonants would be another chapter, but he didn't think of that yet. They had to progress slowly if they wanted to come anywhere. And who knows? Maybe La would just let the words drift by themself as soon as she understood the main idea about separating the sounds from eachother.
She took a few steadying
"Ah!" She said. The sound was short and sharp. Once she heard that she'd done it, she said, "Ah! Ah! Ah!" in jubilant tones. She hopped in circles around Kheiron, exclaiming her lone vowel again and again until she was tired of it. Her small tail flicked back and forth twice quickly.
"Ah la ala ah?" She asked. "And what to I do now?"
A broad smile filled
Kheiron felt almost like a proud big brother.
"Wow, you're certainly a fast learner! Good job, La! This is amazing! I have another task for your though, and this one is a bit tougher. You think you can handle it? You know the sound 'E'? Can you say it? You have to... Hm... Narrow your mouth a bit and push your tongue up, kind of, though not too much. Try it, it's okay if you don't get it in first try, you have to form the sounds in your mouth first anyway. It's not too different from the 'A'-sound, it's just kind of... thinner? Try it! Eeeeeeee. Like that; eeee."
Kheiron was actually beginning to wonder if La was the real name of this fawn, or if that was only the name she took for herself because that was what she was able to express. Maybe she had a completely different name. Maybe a prolonged version of La? Like... Larissa or something. He didn't know, but the thought of it seemed a bit exciting to him. It suddenly made the fawn much more.... mysterious.
La tried immediately, but
Playing with that noise, which sounded like someone singing off-key, she managed to say, "uh" and eventually, "eh".
She was less elated at her success this time, but was nonetheless pleased. "Eh. Eh. Leh. Ah-eh. La-eh. Leh-ah," she toyed with the sounds. Her tongue felt tired from the work, as it was not used to bending around this way. La looked to Kheiron to see if she was making the right sound.
"Well, almost! The actual
He didn't know how many sounds he wanted to fill La's head with already. She had to be able to keep track of them all and don't mix them up.
"You'll get there, don't worry. I see clear progress already."
A warm smile curled up on his face.
"What do you say, should we take a stroll to The Pond? You need to let this sink in before we progress any more. Actually, I want to give you just one challenge while we move. Kind of homework. See if you can say my name; 'Kheiron'. Yeah, I know it's hard, but I want to see if you can do it. Give it some time though, taste the sounds in your mouth before you say them. A'ight?"
He didn't really expect too much of the little fawn, but he knew she was determined so maybe.
Maybe.
"Come on, down to The Pond!"
"Eh-ah," she said, using the
Making sounds, she thought, was a lot like curling one's tongue or using it to make little clicking sounds or whistles. Once you knew how to make the sound, you could do it again. The trouble was finding out how to do it in the first place. Kheiron was right that she'd made improvements, but she had a lot of work left. Being a pretty good swimmer, she found the water relaxing.
Kheiron didn't go into the
The water was refreshing nonetheless.
He lifted his head and watched La out in the pond. He couldn't help smiling when he did. She was such a cute fawn, and he found himself being more and more protective around her. If anyone were to harm her in some way, they would answer to him. Yes. He might not be the toughest deer in the forest, but he could get angry.
Very angry.
"You know La, about my little injury..."
He looked around him to see if anyone were nearby.
No one.
"I know I made you curious and I might have been a bit rude about it, but it's nothing big. Trust me. It's just really embarrassing to me, and I don't like others prying in stuff that is none of their business."
He got silent for a moment.
Sighed.
"I fell from a tree", he whispered. "Trying to help a friend."
He didn't look at her when he said it.
Yes, it really was that embarrassing to him. For several reasons. He wasn't sure if La would be able to see those reasons, but he thought that if she didn't, she would ask. He didn't want to say too much about it if it wasn't necessary.
(hahah I'm such a sucker, there's another song reference in there xD the one who finds it gets a cookie. <3 and this time there's actually a possibility people have heard of it. The other song I referenced to was "This Is Where The Fun Stops", by Snowgoons.)

La had learned the secret, and she was content. She rubbed her head against his shoulder to let him know both that she appreciated him telling her and that she thought he had done a noble thing in helping a friend.
"Ee. Eh," she said. Tree. Friend.
Without making a further sound, she plunged into the water (making an enormous splash while she was at it) and paddled into deeper water. The fawn felt very much at home in the water and was a strong swimmer. She tended not to go too far in, though, because she was not too fond of being a frog.
"Eh-ah?" She called to Kheiron as she paddled with her head above the water. "La ee." Join me!
I don't need a nuzzle, he
He sighed, but he couldn't help smile anyway. Yeah, he had only had good intentions about it, but he had felt so stupid... so clumsy. Kind of naked, actually. Uch.
He still adored that his friend (Lilly) was able to climb high though, even if he didn't feel comfortable with it himself.
"You want me out in the water?", he laughed. "Well, okay. I'll do it for you then!"
He made a little jump out in the pond before he began to walk deeper into it. Kheiron, being as tall as he is, was able to feel the mud under his hooves where La had to swim.
The water was more refreshing than he had first thought. It was lovely, in fact, and he felt his muscles relax a great deal, too.
"You're getting that 'E'-tone more and more right, by the way."
He smiled. "Actually, it's not so different from the 'I'-sound when I think about it. Want to try making the 'I'-sound? Say 'I'."
(Oh, do make references 8D references are fun)
