A Fitting End (IT related [updated])

quadraptor's picture
EDIT: I changed my mind a little. I'll still be on IT, but not as frequently as I have been. I want to play a lot more TEF right now, but I'll still stay on IT and play every few days or so. I'm sorry for all this drama...I didn't know what I wanted to do, and after getting the below speech off of my chest, I started to realize that I don't think I'll be any happier not playing IT.

Witcher gave Quad back his antlers, and I thank her for that. The other items I don't care about, and I hope Kyra and Ravenflight enjoy having them. As for Quad, he will be in both IT (letting lions, wolves, and hyenas eat him XD) and the Forest (dancing away with friends and strangers). I will leave the speech I wrote unedited so you can see what I had originally said:

----------------------------------------------------

Well it was a fitting end for Quad on IT today...

I let him get caught and eaten by hyenas.

Anyway, my news is that I'm leaving IT. I don't know if it's for good or if I just need a long break, but regardless I gave away all of the things that made some of my characters who they were - Quad's antlers; Infectious' green bubble; Purity's piercings; SoulTaker's fangs...

It was a lot of different reasons for me to leave...the constant begging for items, the markings, some people I thought were good friends not wanting me around, and how it has become one big popularity contest to name a few. I do have some nice friends on there - Kyra, Vanity, Phil Collins, and Genzel to name a few that were solely IT players, and everyone from Witcher, Ravenflight, Ocean, Mazey, and Sluggs who are TEF players. 9 times out of 10, though, I was just sitting around trying to find something to do, getting ignored, and wasting my time.

I guess I never really got into the pack thing. Everyone now is a wolf, vampire, hyena, or something else that is in a group that hunts, and who did I play as? Well Quad, who had reindeer antlers from Christmas, so I went ahead and made him a deer. But some people tried to say that everyone hates the idea of deer roleplay and that I had to make a 'normal' pack animal like a wolf for people to like me in the game.

I think the above picture proves otherwise. I loved being chased around, getting caught, being eaten. It was funny, and I think the pack animal players liked it too - it gave them something different to do than sit around saying 'I'm bored" or planning out pride fights. But it's too late now...I'll probably never get another set of antlers again.

As I said, I don't know if I will ever come back, but for now I'm not going to play IT anymore. I think it is for the best that I spend little or no time there and much more time on TEF...less time being bored and annoyed, and more time having fun with anyone and everyone and being able to relax.

For now, it will be as if my characters never existed... (except for Infectious, who has been 'adopted' and will be played by Kyra now)

I agree with you about the

I agree with you about the people on I.T. I always seem to be ignored or unwanted, and to be honest, the game itself bores me a little. Sure, I'll go on it occassionally, but there's honestly only a few people keeping me there - all but one of which are from TEF.
And that Quad-nommed-by-hyenas picture is so epic. Laughing out loud

Sorry to hear that IT didn't

Sorry to hear that IT didn't work out for you Sad

There are sadly very few online communities I've found that are genuinely welcoming. It's sad really, because I'd love to give some online games a try but when I hear reviews about how cold, greedy, or snobbish the other players are, it tends to scare me away.

I'm just glad that The Endless Forest can our little save haven Smiling

True, IT doesn't fit my

True, IT doesn't fit my likes as well. It also doesn't work on my laptop, so I'm always having to play it on our computer below which I am not always able to use. And always when I'm on, I just run around, talking to nobody and just watching the beautiful environment. ^^ Once I met a veeery wonderful player, we had a small roleplay which I really enjoyed so I thought, "Hey, what a wonderful way to play a game, too!" (Because I was all used to the non-verbal TEF, lol), but all the other ones I met weren't that friendly and confused me with their "pack" and mates and vampire and hyena stuff thingy. Waah, nope, not so much for me.
I think, time by time I'll still let my characters fly around (because I really enjoy the flying mode, and all my characters have wings ^^), but I'll never get as active there as I am in TEF. :} So don't worry, Quad, I can understand your reasons to leave IT...
Oh and, btw, I think I once, on my just-run-around trips through the game, a very small lion from the player "QuadRaptor". You, huh? 8D
But since I am always not in a too chatty mood in IT and you lay around with some strangers, I just passed by, lol. xD

That was probably my little

That was probably my little guy, Infectious. He was a tiny neon green winged lion, and later on he had a green bubble around him. I really liked playing him, except everyone always liked to sit on him when he was on.

Baaaw Quad! I did try to

Baaaw Quad! I did try to help you mingle with the other groups and overall community, guess I didn't try hard enough or it wasn't your cup of tea. Either way, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you and hey, if I ever obtain some raindeer antlers, I'll be sure to save them for you. ;3

Being an I.Ter myself, I would like to pass in my own imput? I'm not going to defend it or anything but I would like to state a little.

Yes, the community isn't great, there are an awful lot of young children and immature people who constantly beg for items and mates, I do agree that it is all annoying, and I even admit, Superfluous(she was Morogami on TEF) is probably our only good mod.

Yes, famous people can be very arrogant and snotty, as is often the case with every community, most members know me but ever since I joined the forest, I've been trying my very very best to become a more welcoming player, I've been much more likely to acknowledge a newer member and maybe even engage in a chat, maybe help them if they need it. ^^
But that's only me, I'm sure there's others out there who don't hide in Dimensions all the time.

I.T has been accused of being unwelcoming and ignoring new members? Well much as I'd hate to say it (because this community is lovely), I've noticed a lot of similar ignoring situations here. Sure a new member may say s/he is new and everyone dives in to say hi, but what about the TEF members who always stick to their own little groups? It happens, the newer members try to contribute but they don't often get many comments because they don't have many friends, it'd have to be a true masterpiece for them to get a little notice for a while.
So yah, both communities are guilty of this, chances are most communities are. ;P

I.T isn't everybodies cup of tea though. Sorry that it didn't work out for you over there! I think I'm gonna miss seeing Quad running around in there. |c
Hopefully I'll see Quad on TEF someday soon, then. <3

Sorry for the long unnecessary post. xD

It's fine, I was kind of

It's fine, I was kind of hoping I would get your opinion on this. Honestly, the game isn't bad, it was just the people. I know Kovu is working his (her?) hardest to make the game enjoyable, and I commend that. I fully agree with everything you've said - I think the game just isn't my cup of tea.

As far as on here, we have people like The Lightbringers who do their best to welcome everyone into the community. I may not be a member of their organization, but I do my best to bow to everyone who approaches and make them feel like they're welcome to dance and play with whoever I may be with. Lately I haven't seen very many pictograms that I recognize, and so I always take screenshots and post them up on a 'blog' series called Quad's Candid Camera. I wish others would do the same - it really helps you learn who people are and make some great friends (I met Quad's mate, Mazey [you would know her on IT as umbrulla], though this process - she was a fawn who kept hanging around with him and eventually became the doe that fell in love with him).

I think I'm just going to take a long break from IT, and if/when I ever come back, I'll probably stick to playing as Purity or Neon Tiger. I think people really enjoyed having them around. As far as here Quad will be roaming around in the Forest a lot more, so I hope to run into you one day. And thanks for the comment - it really means a lot to hear it from you. Eye

I'm glad the comment is so good for you! ^^
Yes, I'm pretty sure I've talked to Unbrulla on a few occassions... Wait, yes I remember her, I had a RP with her once! She left scars on my character, Huile's belly! xD
She was pretty good despite her self critique all the time, I enjoyed RPing with her. ^^

I thought so about Kovu - I

I thought so about Kovu - I just knew IT had the same thing as here where the female population greatly outnumbers the male XP.

Mazey tried to start a lion based forum rpg, but I don't think it's gotten really far. Maybe I'll try to help her get things going there (I've got a lot of experience on forum-based rpgs from playing on a stupid Pokemon one for years).

Has Kovu said anything about putting a fighting system in IT? If that ever happens, that would probably be something that may bring me back - I would like to be able to actually fight someone rather than type out "I try to slash at your neck", ect ect.

Something else I was thinking about doing is having an open invitation for my iScribble board to anyone who wanted to hang out. I've noticed a great decrease in activity on there (we used to have 8 people on every night, now it's like 3 or 4 once every few days or so), and I think iScribble is a nice icebreaker for people. My board seems to be the hangout right now, especially since I clear the board every 1-3 days so it's always available for people to draw on.

If I did that, there will be a topic on here that will ask for their iScribble name, and will talk about the site and what we do there XD

I read the entire post

I read the entire post yesterday, but I'm glad to read it again and see that you're trying to find some middle ground. It seems like you have a lot of fun, despite the negative aspects. I tried IT, but I didn't play long, mostly because I missed having people I recognized. I loved flying around though! I might download it again, 'cause I'd love to run around with Quad for a while. (:

By the by, what Pokemon forum were you on? (If you don't mind me asking). I was on one years ago (actually two, because one shut down for a while).

The Pokemon roleplay was

The Pokemon roleplay was called The Fire Islands League. We didn't get a whole lot of activity but we had some fun adventures on there. I played Marleon "Gyarados" Takenawa, who was the water/ice/dragon type gym leader. One of the problems was that people tried to include aspects from other games, including Digimon, Sonic, and even stuff like Gundam. It got bizarre at times...and I haven't made contact with them in a long time, but it helped me learn how to write and how to interact.

Here's an old drawing of Marleon Takenawa

It'll still be good to see

It'll still be good to see you now and again. I'm glad you've made a decision that makes you happy. ^^ I'm sorry IT wasn't your cup of tea and that you felt ignored, but I'm glad you'll come on every now and again. I haven't experienced too much item begging, etc., but I know it happens too often for most people's liking. There are good points too, and I hope that when you come on, you'll enjoy those instead of the bad points that happen too often. Happy roaming, whatever game you're on. Smiling (By the way, it was really awesome meeting a TEF player on there. xD).
