I need your help, TEFc!
As some of you remember, I am the creator of
"Why, Suggestions, and What Not To Do -A Help and Etiquette Blog For Newbies-".
I feel like it needs to be edited, re-organized and re-posted, as well as things updated to address the more recent issues on the Community. In the comments I am going to ask you to put your suggestions for additions, organization, and updates for the blog. If you would rather not post here, just let me know you sent me an email and do so! ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME, even if they do not get used in the end.
Alright! *Shoos everybody* Go go go!
My Emails, if you need them:

I think this is a great idea,

Not an issue. Take your time!
I would love to try
I had a quick read of the
- Differentiate between rules made by the Tale of Tales team and those made by The Community.
Why: I’ve seen community-made rules change over time, whereas the rules laid out by Tale of Tales must always be enforced. These rules also have the biggest implications (Example: If people continue to hack pelts, Tale of Tales will remove the ability to play on older versions).
- I like that you explain why each of the ‘do not ask for this’ things has been shot down in the past, please include this again in the new version of the blog!
- The heading “People don’t like it when you get too close to their spellspam.” Is troublesome.
Why: You mention that if someone sees other deer giving spells they should keep their distance. I think that’s silly. They should be free, even encouraged to join in. I feel a word change here is required or even just the removal of the entry all together. The reason I say this is because I feel this rule is causing an increase in the trend of having to ask for help getting a set on TEFc and contributing to the growing difficulty to get spells the traditional non-verbal way.
- The Map continues to deteriorate, especially considering that it does not display the new generation of pictograms. I think a warning about this should be included, since the map has been known in the past to give the wrong accounts or names and this can cause lots of confusion and even serious identity issues when someone is trying to find a deer who has been harassing them.
If I think of anything else I'll comment again, but as I said there weren't many things that I felt needed changing.
Again, Tera, thank you! On
On the subject of the "Spellspam" thing: the reason I put that there in the first place was because of the players who decide that it's perfectly okay to get in the way and "steal" spells when a player is trying to help another, or really take-over the spellspam in entirely and make it impossible for the two original players to continue their spell-casting.
Do you think in that I should include the "proper etiquette" of approaching and/or asking to be included?
Oh yes, I understand now. I
I think your idea of explaining the etiquette of requesting a spell would explain more clearly and avoid the impression that others are not welcome. It's a good thing to address, considering asking for spells In Game is one of the most complex actions. It's not like we have one button for it lol.
I HAS A SUDGESTION. > Do not
> Do not get involved with other people's fights.
Most of the people in-game play 'IC' (in character) and do not represent the player. Hust because a character taunts another deer, do not attack either of them constantly. They are probably just dealing with it themselves personally, and you are not helping.
I know it could be phrased a lot better, sorry about that. XD
Haha thank you, Holo. I
But I will sure include it in the rewrite.
I'd like to add to
Example: Your deer sees a deer attacking another deer who is a friend of theirs. After quickly checking TEFc to make sure it is not an important plot-organized event (since it is good player etiquette to post a blog informing The Community of what is going on), you could have your deer join the interaction in whatever way would be IC for them at the time.
I bring this up because otherwise this can cause other players not directly involved to have to break character by avoiding the interaction and that isn't fair. (Example: It wouldn't make sense for your character to watch their friend being attacked, they would want to help). If two players really do require the level of privacy where they don't want anyone else involved, they have the alternative of a closed text RP either on TEFc or even a private RP over a messenger service or e-mail.
I'll take a look in a bit and
I thought of it since I think
Does sound like a very good
No harm in me throwing my two
1. I really agree with a lot of what Terabetha said. However I don't think "rules" the TEFc make up can be called rules, more like strict guidelines, because rules seems more restricting and if someone "breaks" said rule they may worry they'll be in trouble. They shouldn't feel as if they're going to be in trouble for going outside the box and doing something that the TEFc generally don't like/appreciate/never thought of/etc. Although they should realize it could be met with negative feedback.
2. I also agree with what Holographmoon said. All of my deer -- unless stated otherwise -- are in character. I've had some people interrupt their fights before, although I didn't mind. So to add onto what Holo said -- I think it's okay to break up a fight in character, as long as it's in your characters nature to do so. (For example: Two angry deer are fighting. Bob the Brave deer decided to break it up.) But don't moo at them or spell spam them to break up, that's where I think it's no fair and sort of ruins the in character fun. (Sorry, I do realize Tera said this, I sort of just wanted to add on in my own way).
2.5. With in character mentioned, I don't think it'd hurt to explain what in character and out of character mean and how important it is to not mix them up or bring OOC/IC drama to IC/OOC drama. Try not to let your ill moods effect your deer's reaction to another players deer who you may dislike. If it's really a bother, just avoid them if possible, and calmly explain OOC why you feel that way and that you'd prefer to be left alone. I feel everyone has the right to play the forest in peace, and if someone wants to do so without being bothered by anothers' deer, then they deserve that right as long as they're not making it into a huge, public issue.
3. Under the "Things We Do Not Suggest For The Forest." - I see herds. Now is this something you don't suggest someone does, or don't suggest as an idea? I can understand the second, not the first. Perhaps just say that if someone does make a herd that it's suggested it follows realistic deer ways (despite appearances) and isn't out to wipe out the other deer and do a mass take over. xD Because thaaat wouldn't be appreciate by people, I'm sure. LOL
4. I know a lot of new members -- mostly friends -- who join and ask the big question. "How do you roleplay in game without a chat box or msn?" (Because they lag too much to switch windows). Maybe a small explanation about how interuptations (spelling fail) are made through deer actions.
4.5. Again, since a lot of deer are in character, if someone flees your deer, don't assume right away that it's the player being mean. Maybe the deer is shy or injured and wants to rest by themselves. However, if a deer is shy, they should probably expect some deer to try and make friends. And if they act injured and want to rest, try doing so somewhere no one really goes/will see you. (Such as laying down injured at the pond or twin gods statue).
Hope that all made sense, really sorry if it didn't.

@Dogtag
2.5) On this, I think I made another blog explaining IC/OOC somewhere. I'll incorporate that.
3) Really, it's something that the creators do not want in the forest at all. We're all supposed to be "one big herd", mostly for friendliness and acceptance purposes. This comes from them, not me.
4) That's kind-of hard. Everyone interprets the actions differently, so I tried my hardest to stay away from that excepting the most widely-accepted "bow" and the "negative" actions.
4.5) I feel as if this is going to be mentioned in the OOC section.
Since Tera brought it
You're welcome to put a link to the Pictogram Builders as an alternative to the map. They can be used to locate the username of a 3rd generation (or any other generation) pictogram using a screenshot of the pictogram or a good memory.
Thank you, Aivilo! I'll keep
@3. Alright ^^ I can
@4. Maybe just say that then? That everyone interprets everything differently. (Sorry if you already planned to!)
Probably will say that for
Say, do you plan to put in
I am not sure yet. I don't
Organization will be pretty difficult, too, so if I do need CSS to do it you will be top on my list to mail, Holo.
