I'll work on this later, just thought I'd put it up for now for anyone who would like to track.
After Quad's experience as a tree, he has become enlightened and more at peace with his surroundings. Here he will speak his observations about the world around him.
Essentially he will have more of a philosophical side (since I am into Zen and Buddhism), and is no longer concerned with worrying about things as he did while the Rut was going on.
His posts will be very similar to Quad Hummingbird's poetry, who is currently on migration.
"A butterfly landed on my snout earlier today. I stopped moving and watched it rest. It must have thought I was a flower, it kept sticking its long tongue into my nostrils. It didn't bother me, I was simply amused that this simple little creature mistook me for a flower.
We are very lucky to have butterflies, as they show us that there's humor in naivety. Or in other words, live for today without any regrets."
"Swaying stalks of golden grass
You catch the sunlight in your grasp
You hide many secrets, many treasures within
Yet they are free for all to capture
Run through the strands of golden bliss
And let their gentle caress fill your mind
With treasures of unforgettable memories
It is the simplest things that give the greatest glory."
"In many cultures, imperfection is a sign of respect to whichever god they worship. We all understand that we are not perfect - our bodies have flaws and defects, and we make mistakes on a regular basis. But rather than dwell on our imperfection in a negative way, we should be happy that we are not perfect, as it honors our gods as well as gives us something to work toward.
May we always find the voice to say that our flaws and imperfection are what make us truly alive, and may we always strive to perfect ourselves by understanding our flaws and working toward living with them."
"Take the time one clear night and look to the sky. Find a star in the sky - any one will do. Now consider what you're really looking at.
This thing in the sky looks very, very small, but are actually very, very large in size. And because they're trillions of miles away from us or farther, the size is shrunk to a tiny little speck in the sky.
Now think about this. You're looking at something that is actually very big and very, very far away. And you're looking at one star in about 100 billion in our sky. Isn't that amazing?
We take so much for granted, but taking a moment to look at something that is there every night, and really thinking about what it is, can be an inspiring and wonderful experience.
"We are all seeds of the Earth
May we grow to our full potential
May our roots never wither
May our branches never break
May our leaves take in their fill
May our bark always endure
And may we live the tests of time"
I'm trying to think of something special I can do with this new mindset Quad has. Maybe an Iugulare/Anirapio/Nekumbra encounter where he handles the situation better than he has before?
Or maybe he is somehow able to read some new prophecy that could involve one of my lesser characters, such as Bodhi or even Ayya.
I'm really open to ideas, I just feel like I should be doing more with this than random quotes.
Well something I had been considering is introducing another baddie that would not necessarily join the Deadly Trio. In fact, it would be the same species as Iugulare (but would appear as a different animal than a stoat), and had landed on Earth a long time ago. When it finally finds the Endless Forest, Iugulare becomes bitter that there is another infectious alien on the planet, and the two start to become rivals.
I may start that up pretty soon, it may either be a story or a RP. I also will need to decide what animal the other infectious alien would appear as.
I was considering basing this new baddie off of a big plush animal I have of a white goat, but I may choose a different animal. I was trying to think of another one that is considered sly or sneaky like a stoat or a weasel is (what Iugulare is), but it doesn't necessarily have to be that. It could essentially be any kind of animal.
I also was considering it landed on the planet close to one of the poles, so it is more accustomed to cold weather and thus may be more familiar with colder animals. But that's not a requirement.
As far as personality, it will act similarly to Iugulare in the fact that it wants to dominate the world, but it will be more calm and collected where Iugulare is more rash and impatient.
And as always, one of my favorite themes may pop up ~ Quad and Iugulare teaming up to fight a common foe
Foxes are sly and sneaky. Foxes live at the North Pole (or somewhere close). Foxes are cute and cuddly and use this as an advantage so you don't suspect something so fluffy and adorable of dastardly deeds. <3
Yeaaaahhhh I considered a fox but I wasn't sure if that would be too similar to a stoat. I may decide to go with that or may go with something else. Thanks for the suggestion.
Those are options too, but I guess I would rather it be more able to survive in the Endless Forest, so the polar bear would be a better option. Still not sure if that's what I'll pick though, I may end up asking for a vote.
So far we've got:
- goat
- fox
- polar bear
- horse
- lion
- another animal?
What else would work for this new creature?
Edit - checking out this website there are apparently white lions. That would be an interesting species.
Like I said, the arctic/polar thing was just an idea, the alien doesn't necessarily have to originate there. I do want them to have a white body though.
I guess it depends...should we have an infectious baddie that fits it's diet (fox, polar bear, lion) or one that seems awkward as a predator (goat, horse)?
If you're looking for a carnivore, perhaps a lynx or puma? If you want something more...random, perhaps a boar or bison? All of these are native to North America, which maybe suits your intentions.
