My face hovers high above my head

Stomp the flowers, little fawn
crush them under hoof and flatten the whole patch with your body
roll with your friend on the vibrant blue petals
run with him through the forest, two bobbing lights in a dream world
tickle his cheeks with your fluttering eyelashes
because at any moment
you will be gone

The doe heard the faint pattering of the fawn's hooves. She knew someone was there, but who...she didn't know. Not receiving an answer to her question, though, she chose to see what the stars may say for whoever was out there.

Speaking a little louder than normal, she said the fortune for the fawn: "Ah, now I see that you are a mere fawn, perhaps you simply do not have the voice to come near. But I do see something for you, not short term but in the future. You will develop very well, and become a great deer, a role model, perhaps a leader if you choose to do so. But from there I do not know what you will become. There are many things that can affect your life, many choices that can alter who you will grow to be. Whatever path you choose, I want you to know that you will have little difficulty getting there."


Listening intently to her voice, head cocked,
the fawn's tail flickered
and the secretive smile starting from his eyes
made his face into a voice
that seemed to laugh
as he turned
and
dashed away

kicking up his legs with abandon.
