A narrow trail of dark red blood ran down on his cheek as he looked at the doe standing not too far away from himself. He remembers crying a lot in the past, long time ago, but slowly the tears had simply stopped coming.
Her pelt shined as white as new snow, he was almost blinded by it's purity.

"Light..." he half whispered.

"You are saying that you want to stay by my side, even if you know... the risk."
He said quietly as he slowly started walking at the doe.
The sun had almost set behind the forest, staining the sky with crimson.
Everything was quiet as he walked, shortening the distance between him and the white doe. His steps were nearly soundless and his pitchblack long fur flowed lightly, following his moves. The doe's presence made it look even darker.

Fireflies had already started their dancing amongst the long grass surrounding the two figures in the darkening forest.
.
He didn't stop walking until he had reached the doe. He could feel her warm breath reaching his cold skin and it made him thrill.
Now her white appearance made his fur shine in a slight tint of blue.
And his eyes, as crimson as the sky in the west, looked down at the eyes stained with the colors of deep ocean.
"When you are with me, you will never see the light." He said sadly and even more quietly, as if he would break something fragile in the moment if he speaked louder.
He wasn't able to see anything else anymore, but the deep blue eyes. The forest, everything else had vanished around him.
It wasn't dark, it wasn't bright.
"Are you sure you are willing to do this decicion?" He stood still. A weak wind made the long ancient trees hum their gentle lullabies but he couldn't hear them.
"You know it too... that this is your last change to turn back."
A crow rose on it's wings from a nearby tree. The sound broke the silence for a moment and the dark trail had reached Roucaud's throat.
pfffffff! Bed timeeeeee.

*staring back evenly as the stag approached, Light knew her mind had already been made up. She was not one to reach decisions swiftly, but once she was sure of something she was not willing to turn back. She stomped her hoof again, grounding herself as if to drive away any fear that remained. Light stood tall and determined as he neared and finally spoke, the crest of white feathers on her neck raising slightly and fluttering with the breeze with a sound like the wings of a dove*
"I know," she said softly.
"I have seen what your pain does to you... I understand the risk I take now. But I also know what I feel, Roucoud..." *her eyes fixed on his, nearly all traces of the golden amber within them lost to the blue sea of her emotions, now no more than a glimmer at the edges like the last light of the setting sun...* "and it is not fear."
"I will not go away. If you cannot see then sun, then I will shine for you... and if you hurt I will try to find a way to soothe it..." *the last glimmer of amber light trembled on the edge of her dark lashes and then seemed to pool and spill down in a final shining tear. Light reached out and brushed it's warm golden light against the chill of the stag's cold face and neck, mingling with the thin trail of crimson stained the blue-black of the fur at his throat*
"...and if I can do nothing else..." *she drew her head back and looked into his eyes again deeply, oddly no trace of the crimson of his tear upon her own shining cheek. Light planted her hooves firmly in the earth and the crest of feathers raised itself even more proudly as she put the fullness of herself behind her words.* ... "I will still be here. I will not turn back."

Roucaud stared at the determined looking doe standing next to him, saying all these words.
The little voice that had been warning him all this time supressed slowly. He didn't even care. The decision had already been made.
He felt powerless in front of the desire he had yearned for so long. He could feel his blood flowing faster within his body, full of warmth the doe's touch had just given him.
"Then so be it." He said closing his eyes as the flowing crimson had started to blur his vision.
"...but do me a favor."
He stayed quiet for a while and let his ears hear the whisperings of the tree leaves high above them. Then he opened his eyes again to meet the eyes of the beautiful white being in front of him.
The crimson slowly faded away from the way of the dark blue that was taking over the the sky, giving a chance for the millions of stars to shine through the darkness.
"...let me protect you instead. I is not like I want to be protected.
I want to be able to feel what it is like to protect someone.
It would give myself a meaning once more." A single drop of crimson fell on the ground. It reflected the soft light of the sky until it vanished in the ground.
